Problem with CM/C-rom or any kind or ROM for my Nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm new on this forum and I wanted to ask something (Newbie).
Ok so my Nexus 4 was KitKat 4.4.2 and then I changed my rom to C-Rom through a official nexus root site (tryed to root the nexus 4) didn't work and I was stuck without Gapps and without Root for almost a year and a half, about a half a year ago a friend of mine showed me a video of how to upgrade to Lollipop using ADB/ADT stuff, So I flashed my phone and it automaticly installed for me Lollipop 5.0, a little bit after that I found a Nexus Root Toolkit and installed root with TWRP, then I wanted a black theme badly on my phone so I installed cyanogenmod 12 and it worked but again without gapps so I reflashed my nexus back to lollipop (I must say that without backuping files it's annoying to flash your phone).
Is there any way to install Cyanogenmod 12 for the nexus 4 with gapps?
Please replay, thanks

1.Download CM12 latest nightly + PA 5.0 full gapps.
2.Create .gapps-config file on same folder with app names to exclude(required for stock pa gapps package- due to data partition size limit)
3. OK now boot into TWRP. Wipe - flash CM12 - Wipe - flash gapps - Reboot
These are the basic steps I tried.

Again Newbie, didn't understand this, how do I make a config? and I've downloaded this version of gapps and CW

I'm not sure whether your downloaded gapps are compatible with CM12. Try PA Gapps package from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/par...apps-official-to-date-pa-google-apps-t2943900
.gapps-config file is required only if you're using the stock gapps package ~ 400mb. Creating one is a bit tricky. Open notepad and type the names of apps that you need to exclude. You can find the names in FAQ section in above mentioned post. Then save the file as .gapps-config at same location of gapps package. Now you can flash gapps without getting insufficient storage error.

You didn't flash a gapps package? Most custom ROMs do not include (more accurately, cannot include due to licensing issues) gapps so you need to flash a gapps package after flashing a ROM.

You won't lose any data unless something really horrible goes wrong.
Unofficial CWM recoveries might work but are untested and not officially supported. Actually, I think some of the newest features (such as secure verification of ZIPs) require TWRP
Official CWM releases will NOT work as they block extendedcommands scripts from anything but ROM Manager
TWRP is the only tested/officially supported configuration for OpenDelta. Bug reports against any other recovery configuration are considered invalid.
I flashed a few nightlies via OpenDelta now, no problems encountered.
Handy little feature: Put extra zips you want to flash after update into /sdcard/OpenDelta/FlashAfterUpdate/ - they'll be flashed automatically after update (in alphabetical order). No need to flash custom kernels or SuperSu manually
I noticed that die File in the OpenDelta folder will bloat after applying all that stuff that the Updater do...
So is there a chance that omni will add an option to automatical delete this file after some days, so that it will save space?

Ehm. Where is the Rom.zip if something goes wrong?
What will you flash if you deleted the content of /OpenDelta directory?

[GUIDE][CM12] Downgrade, Root and BUMP

Method 1
Download KDZ: HERE
LG Driver: HERE
LG Flash Tool: HERE
1. Download Mode
You must switch off the device to start the process.
Then press and hold the “Volume Up” and connect the USB cable from phone to PC.
Use the original USB cable. Because, other device’s cable may not be detected in the Computer. So, only we recommend it to use the original one that you got it when you bought the phone.
Wait for the driver installation on PC.
Then you will get the download mode screen in your phone.
That’s it.
You can return to the normal mode by press and hold power button.
Don’t unplug the cable while the update process is running. Because, it will damage your phone.
2. Downgrade using KDZ Method: HERE
3. Root (PurpleDrake): HERE
4. BUMP:
Download TWRP 2.8.4.0: HERE
Flash it with Flashify : Tutorial
5. You are ready for CM12!
CM12: HERE
GApps: HERE
[Optional] SuperSU: HERE
Method 2 (thanks to ziggyboy)
If you want to do this really quickly, copy the following APK's before you flash the KK ROM to your SD card:
Stump
SuperSU
Flashify
TWRP
Latest CM12
GApps for LP
This saves you from having to download or copy the APK within the process.
Here's a detailed guide:
Copy the APK's listed above to your SD card.
Flash 10A-10D using the guide linked by the OP.
When setting up KK, just skip everything. No need to connect to wifi, 3G, or your PC.
Install the Stump APK from your SD card. Run it to root your device. You'll likely reboot.
Install the SuperSU APK from your SD card.
Install the Flashify APK from your SD card. Run it to flash TWRP. Make sure you select the 'recovery image 'option.
The installation process should reboot you to TWRP.
In TWRP: Wipe then flash CM12 and GApps.
Reboot and set up CM12!!
Does SuperSU not included in the CM12 official ROM ? I remember that it's embedded inside the ROM.
I flashed SuperSU because probably Superuser app isn't present as I think it got merged with Privacy Guard together but I can assure you an applet when an app requests SU permission is present but first you have to activate it in developers option. I think you can skip flashing it.

Howcome I often see the 16 GB version of EUR and not the 32 GB?
I've got a 32GB version of EUR. Maybe because in europe 32gb version is lot more expensive of 16gb.

Yea, you're right. I put the links of all the guides i'd followed so I'm 100% sure that's working. Thank you for the update.
I've got a slightly easier method (IMO) of doing this. Here's a summary. Detailed steps later on.
Flash an earlier ROM, preferably 10A-10D. Don't forget to wipe.
Use Stump to root (it's so much quicker and you can do it from your phone). See http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
Install Flashify and use it to flash TWRP.
Reboot to TWRP, wipe and flash CM12 + GApps.
If you want to do this really quickly, copy the following APK's before you flash the KK ROM to your SD card:
Stump
SuperSU
Flashify
TWRP
Latest CM12
GApps for LP
This saves you from having to download or copy the APK within the process.

The installation process should reboot you to TWRP.
In TWRP: Wipe then flash CM12 and GApps.
Reboot and set up CM12!!
I live in Spain, I guess this is the correct firmware for me, right?: 42 6UA/EUROPE COMMON_16G V10A
Hi GFXi0N, it's not important where the kdz was released. Flash any KK KDZ (in your case all 16GB version KDZ) then root and bump it.
Thanks Ziggyboy for the guide. Yea is slightly easier, I will update the thread and add yours
Awesome guide, thanks to both of ya (OP and the super-quick guide) =)

Full Wipe/Clean Flash/Clean Install [same].
When you change from one ROM type to another [from KK to Lollipop or even from the same variant but from different Developers/types of ROMS] always do the above term mentioned.
In TWRP go to wipe>advanced wipe. Then mark Cache, Dalvik Cache, Data and System.
Wipe.
Flash the ROM [don't reboot].
Flash Gapps.
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache after Gapps [recommended].
Reboot and enjoy!
This is what I do and never have a problem.
is it possible to flash a normal 5.0 rom ? i don't like the CM12
What do you mean by "normal" 5.0 ROM?
If you mean something like the Nexus 6 ROM the answer is no. CM12 is probably the closest you'll get to pure Android Lollipop.

I been googling whole day and I cant find even one guide for Linux. I would love to downgrade my lg g3 d855 to kitkat and then upgrade to lollipop 5.1.1 but I DON'T want to install freaking windows to do it.

GAPPS crash with crdroid Rom, how to install ?

Hello,
I am new on this forum but I used different roms (Omega rom) on my phone, a samsung S4 I9505.
As the last version of Omega Rom didn't work on my phone (boot couldn't succeed), i Installed CrDroid jfltexx 5.1.1
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-crdroid-t3017844)
I want to have some of the Google Apps like the Play Store... so i downloaded on OpenGapps the package ARM / 5.1 / Mini. Yet after I installed it in the recovery mode, and i booted. As i was configuring the phone, the Google apps were crashing as i followed the instructions...
Now i i did another complete install of the phone WITHOUT the GAPPS. How should i proceed to get at minimum the Play Store ?
Thanks !
First time installing crDroid to your i9505, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery (CWM or TWRP)
- Copy GApps and crDroid zip to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Wipe system,dalvik,data and cache
- Flash crDroid zip
- Flash GApps zip
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Reboot

For example:

[GUIDE] Install Official Marshmallow Update Oxygen OS 3.1.3

OnePlus Team has finally rolled out long-awaited Marshmallow Update. This time, it isn't community build or beta, it is a STABLE update!
This post will guide you to upgrade from 2.2.2 to 3.1.2 for both non-rooted and rooted users.
Disclaimer:
Code:
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
For non-rooted, unmodified system users (who haven't tinkered anything with the device's software):
1a. You must have received a notification to update to OOS 2.2.3
Download it, and hit reboot now! This will automatically install the update which will prepare your device to install MM update.
1b. If you haven't received the update notification for 2.2.3 then download it manually from here - https://goo.gl/NkZm2I
Place it in the root directory of Internal Storage (not inside any folder, just directly on Internal storage) and then enter recovery mode by turning off your phone and then pressing Power button + volume down button at the same time. Once you get into recovery, select Install from Internal Storage and the select your file and flash it!
Congratulations, now you are on OOS 2.2.3!
Download MM OOS 3.1.2 from here - http://s3.amazonaws.com/oxygenos.on...OTA_017_all_201609231354_e675a52db5a044e7.zip
and place it on your SD card again, like above, go to recovery and flash the file!
You are now on Official Oxygen OS 3.1.2 MM Update!
For rooted users, who have modified system:
1. Download the zip http://s3.amazonaws.com/oxygenos.on...OTA_017_all_201609231354_e675a52db5a044e7.zip and place it on your SD Card or Internal Storage
2. Go to your recovery (TWRP is preferred)
3. Wipe System, Data, Cache, and Dalvik Cache
4. Select Install and navigate to your file location, select your file and flash it!
5. Flash https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4K5cvm1zdldcmZpc3RuVnRjUUE/view to get root access!
6. Reboot! Enjoy your MM Update!
(Optional) These are steps I followed for a safer install:
1. Took the whole backup of 2.2.2 from official TWRP
2. Flashed Whole 2.2.2 zip from here - http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-x/oneplus_x_oxygenos_2.2.2/ which I had already downloaded
3. Flashed Stock Lollipop recovery
4. Unrooted my phone
5. Locked and unlocked my bootloader (don't know why I was getting locked bootloader error while flashing blu-spark twrp so did it)
6. Unrooted my phone
7. Flashed 3.1.2 zip from stock lollipop recovery
8. Flashed blu-spark TWRP using fastboot
9. Flashed modified SuperSU
10. Restored just data partition from my 2.2.2 backup and wiped cached.
This way is long and tedious but ensures you get the data, which was important for me.
Edit: Above process can be applied to install Oxygen OS 3.1.3 (link below) Directly! Hope you have a pleasant experience on Marshmallow, cause I'm definitely loving it

1. were you able to format external SD card as internal?
2.how to flash modified/original TWRP after install OOS 3.1.2?
I flashed and rooted it properly but xposed isn't active. What version do I have to flash?
Which custom recovery is supported for this ROM ? I couldn't install the package using official twrp recovery. Had to switch to official recovery to install the ROM

[Guide] Installing Android Pie

This is based on the semi-guides found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7x/how-to/finally-android-pie-t3830416
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/rom-aosp-pie-t3829466/page3
Both were a bit vague about certain parts, and also used Bitgapps, which doesn't give you the full functionality of open gapps, which I prefer, so I decided to make my own with more detail to hopefully help people avoid some of the issues I ran into. This is running very well on my BND-L24, I am not responsible for any damage to your phone.
Files you will need:
HuRUpdater (Only if not on stock rom): HURUpdater
The latest build from here: Roms
This twrp: Twrp
9.0 Open Gapps *Use the 10/1 version, the 10/2 google play services constantly crashes* (I used the mini version since it overwrites unnecessary apps and stock with cause any app that uses webview to crash): Open Gapps
1. You need to flash your stock firmware if you are on a custom rom, I used HuRUpdater, pretty easy, just follow their instructions.
2. Extract the rom and go to /META-INF/com/google/android and open updater-script with Notepad++
3. Delete all the text that comes before the first "ui_print" and save
4. Rezip and load the rom and gapps onto your micro sd
5. Flash the rom, but not gapps yet (If you flash both, you will get stuck in the setup wizard when you boot)
6. Boot into the rom, then restart and boot back into twrp
7. Flash gapps and boot into the rom
8. Now there will be a notification saying the phone is trying to run the google pixel setup, just hold down that notification, it will take you to that app in the setting and you can just disable it to get rid of the notification
9. You're all set!
Also, Magisk works perfectly with this
Enjoy!

Cheers mate! now it went through! but for some reason it is booting into a black screen, where volume button and power button is showing UI cards but the rest is blank! Hhaha
Did you go back to stock and do a full factory reset first?
I came from stock when I did it and still had to do a full reset
