[Q] Need help with cm12 nightly - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently living in a facility that won't allow me to have my laptop. I am running 11-20141207-nightly-moto_msm8960 I would like to upgrade to cm-12-20150114-nightly which when i check updates shows me that's the latest nightly I'm not sure why it hasn't been updated since then and I'm not sure if i should use that or one of dhacker29s but i would like to use CWM and flash that latest nightly from my SD card because I've been told if i use the updater it will most likely not go well. My question is would o be able to just use the updater or should I flash from SD through CWM and if I do what would be the best procedure and if I use one of dhacker29s files which i should pick I also noticed there are ones tagged with jellybean bootloader and i am not sure which one I have. I know to wipe cache system and data, flash cm12 then gapps then wait fifteen to 20 minutes I just need advice on the above mentioned issues. Thank you.

My bet is that you have the KK BL version. Please do note that the moto_msm8960 family has been temporarily de-unified since 20150114, hence you're only getting update notifications up to that date. The newer builds appear under the "xt907" name.
Also, I highly suggest a clean flash between every major Android version jump.

You will have to switch to the newest xt907 TWRP that dhacker built. There is a change and the new xt907 specific ROMs will not boot unless you use the xt907 specific TWRP

Thank you but that is not a viable option currently without access to a pc. Would I be able to take the update from cyanogenmod update in about phone from cm11 nightly to cm12 nightly?

You don't need a computer; everything can be done on the phone. Download & flash the latest TWRP, dl CM12, backup your current build, wipe, flash CM12.

Which "newest" do you mean? I have the 2.8.1.0 found on the other forum and it seems to flash both moto_msm8960 and xt907 ROMs reasonably well.

From what I've read, the deunified builds need a deunified recovery. Or at least they did when they first were deunified. I bootlooped the latest CM12 based ROMs until I switched, however, this has been a few weeks now!

Restore Stock Nexus 7 Kernal for JRO03D

Pretty much what the topic says. I can't find info on this.I need stock kernal so I can run the update. 4.1.2
Right now I'm unlocked, rooted with Stock. Is there a zip someone can provide so I may flash it or step by step instructions on how to complete only restoring the kernal? Highly appreciated!!!
Download the stock files from here
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
You can pull the boot.img from the zip file. Then just
Fastboot flash boot name of image.img

I am very new at this so please understand.
I did what you said and I now have the boot.img file. How do I fast boot flash? I'm really only familiar with flashing zip files using CWM. If you could walk me through it that would be awesome.
Also, after these steps are complete, will this wipe out my nexus back to factory? I didn't want to lose everything I had on it meaning files, games etc.
thanks
Anyone??

You say you're "unlocked, rooted with stock". Are you saying that you've unlocked the bootloader, installed custom recovery (cwm) and flashed supersu or similar? If you have not installed a custom ROM or kernel you can manually apply the 4.1.2 update via recovery.

That is correct. But when I tried to flash the update using CWM it gave me an error. The reason was because I had flashed the trinity Kernal about a week ago. I was able to figure out how to flash the original boot.IMG using adb, put it back to the stock kernel, and was then able to flash the update using CWM. Finally worked after all those steps.

I most likely wont mess everything up. Unless there is a compelling reason to do so, just update your N7 to 4.1.2 / JZ054K.
Hi,
I got the "assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:/dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3..." error.
I have installed a custom kernel and it seems that i need the stock kernel to complete the update to 4.1.2, but i have not found the stock kernel of the JRO03S.
Have you any idea where i could find it ?
I found the .img kernel in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890415
Then i was able to update to 4.1.2 successfully

Yeah, I encountered problems through flashify too. I just flashed the zip from TWRP 2.6.3.x, then rebooted the recovery.

Hey for 4.4 Roms you need twrp 2.6.3.3...comes in a zip so easy enough to just flash!....also Philz custom cwm recovery supports 4.4
yeah update recovery, but also do a system and data wipe as well.
be sure to have a backup

[Q] [Help] LG G2 D800 Won't Rotate

So, i have the LG G2 D800 and the Gyroscope works fine since i bought it, custom roms rotated fine but recently ANY Rom i flash doesn't rotate, ran some tests and the Gyro stays at 0,0,0 when i flash the d80010c to 20d kitkat stock from LG it rotates and the tests go from -1,0,2 and so on and so forth.
I don't want LG's UI, but i also want rotation, if you guys can help, please. I recorded it also just today, sorry for bad quality.

Simply download and flash this modem. Your rotation will be working just fine afterwards. Make sure to make a backup of your current baseband or if when/if you ever flash back to stock you wont have rotation with the stock rom lol. Simple fix

The modem you need to get rotation working depends on the custom rom you are using!
If you are using a custom rom that is based on LG's KitKat Source (e.g. Mahdi Rom, Slim Kat has now started with test builds) you need a non-modded KitKat modem version.
If you are using a Kit-Kat Custom rom, but which is based on LG's JellyBean Sources you need a moded Kitkat modem version to get rotation working.
Which custom are you using at the moment?
The moded versions can be found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705509

You are right, I haven't read properly. But I think just providing people with download links doesn't help them at all.
For myself i want to know why these problems appear and why these issues can be solved by flashing this specific file.

Well no one had replied to his post and that was in March so I thought you would appreciate a quick fix. I usually like to explain my reasoning behind suggesting a link to download a file and what it's going to do and how exactly its going to fix your problem and what has happened in the first place so the user not only gets an answer or ultimately a solution he is now is knowledgeable on the subject for future reference.

That is not going to work for a D802. The only way to fix this is to flash back to stock (fully). I did that an amazingly lost nothing except root. I was proud of myself. Then in the process of trying to regain root I lost everything...ouch! I completely forgot about how i originally got root while in JB an and still had the old iroot files. It was a disaster.

[Q] How to flash CM11 on MDL S4?

Hey folks,
Got a MDL 4.2.2 ATT S4. How do I go about flashing latest CM11 ? Would I need safestrap recovery, or a specific kernel ?
TIA!
Look for CASUAL in the development forum. That'll root and put twrp on your phone. Then you can flash cm in the twrp recovery. You don't need or want safestrap.
