What did they say...??
When will they give the kernel source..?
But even if we get the Kernel sources...there are no developers to work on X2..

Ask them to release it publicly and quote GPL as a reason.

not latest?
Name "Nokia RM-1013 2.0.0.11" may be mean that Source Code of Nokia X2 firmware version 2.0.0.11, not latest version of Kernel Source Code (released this on 8 Aug 2014). Latest version of firmware 2.1.0.12. Did they forgot update Kernel Source Code to latest version?
Also, someone another components of firmware (not Kernel Source Code) may be have another (no GPL) free license of source code (some programs, drivers e.g.). We must request all source code.
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.
Also. Where we can check out this link (see up) - Is it really official link? Please, request Microsoft (Nokia) to publish this link on official Microsoft web site and update (if need) Kernel Source Code to latest version.

When CD comes?

Did you receive the Cd..???

I received CD. Unfortunately version of source code on CD is 2.0.0.11. I don't know 2.0.0.11 latest version of kernel or not.
Anyway, i reply "Please, send latest version GPL licensed (and another free licensed) code of Nokia X2 firmware to me."

Is it 2.0.0.11 or 2.1.0.11?
Latest one is 2.1.0.12 though there is not much difference in 2.1.0.11 & 2.1.0.12.
Can you upload the source code to some website like githhub and provide the link here?
Thanks,

Version 2.0.0.11. The source code is the same as here https://github.com/juniskane/nokia_x2_rm-1013_2.0.0.11/releases I check sha512 sum:

Only one question. Why towelroot doesn't work on new version of firmware 2.1.0.12 and 2.1.0.13? But works on old 2.0.0.11

Kernel for jw1

can semaphore jvz kernel be used for jw1 roms?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yes, I just tried it and it works fine.
apparantly jw1 and jvz are almost identical (only diff is in lang files or something), so jvz kernel is fine.
i think that progress in changelog number is too great for the only changes to be were the language typos fixes
using custom kernel is bad
using custom kernel from previous version to some more recent is bad
but if you want various tweaks and overclocking there's no other possibility then using a custom kernel that supports it or am wrong?
greetz
well yes but take a second and think about it
kernel sources those guys use are half year old and are for 2.3.3 kernel version
currently used kernel by samsung in jw1 is 2.3.6 that sources are unreleased

Now i see. That's why i used to be so satisfied with my stock jvq rom and latest semaphore kernel. Now im on jvz and cant see any improvement. \/
i can tell that jw1 and jvx/jvz stock versions
are faster then jvt and eariler ones (2.3.5) - more responisive
tings like zergrush exploit gets patched
but it is still your fair choice to pick custom kernel
and overclock/ondervolt or do whatever you like with it
i am pissed a bit that those guys are not informing in op post
"builded from latest smsung source" is not saying that this source have half year

Not true. Were there any bugs that were not present in the stock kernel that is present in a custom kernel? None so far.
Samsung is obligated to release the latest source code for its kernel. If a compiled kernel doesn't boot or the kernel can't work with the binaries that are released, Samsung is liable to being sued for not being GPL compliant. So far they've been pretty quick in releasing sources (from the past year) with the delta being less than a 2 weeks after a release.
Also, if you spot any differences of stock with a custom kernel, you should report it to Samsung so that they release the latest source code. So far I have not detected any bugs stemming from using a compiled kernel from the source that's been released more than 3 months ago.

This is because Samsung expects you to use the pre-compiled modules for Wifi and a few others (from what I read from the source code).

Yup
Decompile the initramfs and see for yourself
As for the kernel binaries themselves, it's harder to detect. However, no loss of functionality has been reported from custom kernel usage. I'm about 95% sure that no source change occurred.
Platform though, is another matter. The platform changed quite a bit, though all of it are closed sources ones (like Touchwiz).

I respect that you hate custom kernels but telling people that 'using custom kernel is bad'...is bad.
Can you please post your arguments?
With your logic XDA should not exist. With your logic nobody should tweak or change the standard products that Samsung delivers. Nobody should experiment. Nobody should try experimental features/tweaks/mods.
Or maybe, nobody except you?

Great news indeed. About a week ago I've requested XDA's OEM relations manager Jerdog to contact Yota, and today he sent me a message that they finally obliged. His action together with some social media attention and requests through other channels probably all added up.
I've put it on github: https://github.com/SteadyQuad/android_kernel_yotaphone2
There's still a lot of work to do however, it's not plug-and-play. As far as I can see there's no kernel config included, so that might take time to figure out. I'm not an experienced kernel dev, but I'll give it some attention to see how far I get with it. Anyone else interested to help out here?
Wish that I could help, but this is not something were I'm able to add value... :/
Best of luck to you and any other that may go down that road.
what about the progress
now?

Config is in arch/arm/configs and seems to already be set up with the EPD display, so likely the same that Yota is using:

Do you still have the original tarball?

Can't find the original tarball. Sources on Github are pretty close though (I think I only missed some firmware files on very first commit). You probably found it already, but Yota seemed to have adapted the standard arch/arm/configs/msm8974_defconfig file for yp2, which contains amongst other things the Epson EPD driver:
Code:
CONFIG_FB_EPSON_S1D13522=y
CONFIG_EPSON_13522=y
It's been some time, but I remember after some small tweaks (on github) the kernel actually built and booted.
I've never managed to get into contact with Yota directly, but if you're planning development work, maybe you should ask them for an updated tarball, might have updated EPD firmware, CVE fixes and other updates .

Update of update:
Tobia gives us a nice present (.151):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=66838326
Actually, isn't this beta test limited to Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, at least initially? Also, I don't think it's begun yet.
FYI:
Regarding Xperia Beta Program
This is a pure quality beta software of the official software for Z2/Z3/Z3c Marshmallow update to check stability before launch. The setup is the same as in this concept with invites, beta feedback application and a closed forum. This quality beta will be available only in a few selected markets: Italy, Spain and Netherlands.*
The CONCEPT SOFTWARE is a separate thing, something with a much longer horizon, something with much more experiments in it, something unique in the history of SONY Mobile we don't know how this concept will turn out in the end but we (in the team) have great plans for it!
Xperia Beta Program - Quality beta test of official software
This Concept - Experimental consumer driven software
But if this is true why are we not releasing anything right now?
Well we are currently working on the next release and there are some changes that has stopped us in the quality testing. Right now we are working on understanding/fixing this. We will probably not make a release during this week but hopefully next week if all goes well.

Actually, isn't this beta test limited to Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, at least initially? Also, I don't think it's begun yet.

I am from Italy and I'm signed up for the beta test. I still haven't received any email about the program's start... I'll let you know

I know that they have a limited number of beta testers (somewhere around 1000). But anyway if I am lucky to be able to get to the beta testing I'll try to extract the ftf and post it here

They should use XDAdev forum membership and participation as a qualification, but maybe that's built in to the selection process since people who lurk around these forums usually hear about the beta link before ordinary mortals do.
I am from the Netherlands but on Google Play this Beta tells me it is incompatible with any of my devices (and one of those any is my D5803)

Check your current firmware customization. It has to be the NL version
Firmware customisation, euh well, not language I think.
I downloaded a Marsmallow ftf that's it.
Where do I find my Firmware customisation?

You'll need to be on official Sony LP ftf and from one of the 3 countries listed previously to sign up officially via play store!
...... If your not able to sign up via playstore. you can download the apk from the link below, install and sign up.... Maybe you will be selected to take part??

Do they check customization only ? or also the IMEI must be from NL ?
Flashing a NL firmware would allow us to download the app ..?

for the concept project just the customization was enough, so first try with that only. no need to flash a different FW, just change the customization in build.prop if you are rooted!
also, for downloading the app, check the link just 3 posts above yours....

MM Development

As of now, development for marshmallow has begun. I will attempt to use a prebuilt kernel for cm-13 builds until the kernel source is released. If Alcatel refuses to release the source as CM team progresses, I will have no choice but to abandon the project. If everyone could contact Alcatel to see if they can get a response that would be great. I requested it the same day MM was made available and yet no response.

The best News in Day...You are the Nice Bro......As for Alcatel i send more than 10-15 messages and they didn't reply....
It would be helpful to know where to forward the link request.
I ve also asked many times, but no reply, one mail returned telling that they have asked their devs for my query of unlocking bootloader.
Isn't there a "contact us" link on their webpage? Bury them in requests.
Ah this is something I have been dying to know, what we needed for cm13. I will send a request email as well. Just to be clear, what we want is the idol 3 marshmallow kernel source code?
I'm just going to politely mention I bought the older idol 3 over newer phones due to community projects like cm, and I would love it if the *whatever is needed* is released.
Side note, i thought the GPL required kernel source to be released?

So you are positive that they have to give out kernel source? They can't decide to not share kernel source?
I mean,MTK is another story, but in our case kernel source has to be given out unless they want to break the law?

While much of the android source uses the apache license and they can choose whether to release or not, the kernel is still GPL and as such they are required to release the source to the public in a "timely" manner. Now theoretically if they wanted to be real douche's they could print out the whole thing and release a stack of paper as high as a telephone pole to the public, so it's important to always be POLITE when requesting the source but in general it's released in a usable format.
MTK is not located in countries that you can fight them over GPL compliance
Request sent, good times

Have in mind that 6045 EU variants dont have MM yet so until then they need to release nothing

Definitely right about that. They most likely won't until all variants/carriers are up to date which makes since. But since 6039 and 6045 share the same source it means we have to wait for both devices.

So pretty much from what I'm reading Alcatel, if they are kind enough to release the source, probably won't do so until ALL variants have MM, which might take a good long time.

Not necessarily. Although they waited a long time to release 6045i and other 6045 variants TCL released the source for it's rom on the i806 within a week of the product going live..so keep in mind there is alcatel which is the "us division" and TCL which is the parent company and handles the "chinese division".

Well I hope the us division Alcatel releases the source soon. I have no plans to go to a different phone so I hope they enable developers to get the most out of their tech.

The i806 IS the same phone just like the "panasonic eluga switch" is the same phone, therefore their source will work just fine for what we want should it become available.
I send yesterday more than 5-6 messages via Contact us to ALCATEL..They are finally replied bur...I don't see more Stupid than Alcatel Support:crying:...I'm asking them When will be released Source code they told me that Idol 3 will be updated in second part in year....:crying:
