Have you tried updating? Maybe the video isn't available at resolution above 720p

I have lates version and videos mostly 1080p /1440p on desktop computer I can watch same videos on nexus 7 1440p but not on note 4

Yep, Google has again done something to stop us viewing 1080P and 1440p videos.
I read in another thread on here that its something to do with Lollypop and Google are only enabling 1080p and 1440p on Lollypop

Is Youtube 720p in HD?

I did notice that there were mods of youtube.apk that enabled 720p, but does anyone know if the Youtube app is 720p out of the box when the HD is toggled? It does have a HD resolution screen.
From what I have seen YouTube calls 720p and 1080p HD. 480p is listed as high quality HQ. 360 and 280 is just standard or low quality.
I have watched 720P HD on my N7 and Galaxy Nexus. Just depends if the option it shows you when playing a YouTube video is HD or HQ.

[Q] Full HD Tab2?????

Sorry for my english.
I have a big problem.
The Galaxy tab 2 have write to package that the recorder video is Full HD (1080P) and the manual pag. 67, reporting that the video is 1280x800; why?
I have speak with Samsung Italy, the response are: you are right, sorry, i send immediately a email to Korea.
Please you tablet records video at 1080p?
Ettore Ribaudo
It doesn't say 1080P recording but playback. It says HD on recording, but not full-HD. My P3113 records in 1280x720.

Actually, it says full 1080p HD playback and HD recording. It could be misleading if you don't catch that.

Edit: The recording is in HD, just 720p...
Maybe if you posted it in English.
The box is technically accurate but misleading. HD is anything 1280x720 or higher resolution. It will play back 1080P videos but will down convert them to 1280x720 since this is the tablets native resolution. It cannot playback 1080P videos at 1080P but it does not say that. It says it will play back 1080P videos. It should note *at 1280x720 resolution*. The only way it could play back full 1080P is if the screen resolution was 1920x1080 which it is not. It records in 1280x720 which again, is HD. If your planning to record HD video on this tablet I'm afraid you are going to disappointed. Quality is not that good in my opinion.
My box says "HD (720p) Playback* & Recording"

Why in Italy have FULL HD and in other Country HD?
I have buy a Tablet Full HD, i am now a tablet is not full hd, because the screen is 1281x720.

P.s. post your image.
Do you have a tab 2 7" or 10"? The 7" has a 3MP camera and thus can only do 720p. I think the 10" has more MP and can do 1080p recordings even though playback won't be 1080p. If you copy the recording to a computer, playback will be 1080p. Does that make sense?

No, it makes no sense, but if you sell a product for 1080P playback and recording in, because I can not see it on my tablet?
Also, if records in 1080P, how can I see if the screen is 1280x720? This is called false advertising in Italy
My tablet is 10".

Not really false advertising if it says HD playback not specifically 1010p HD playback.
I'm not trying to be a ****, but is not the purpose of recording videos , to share them. Therefore the 1080p playback on anything other than YOUR tablet is the desired outcome.
The OP may be right. I don't have the 10" model and my 7" specifically says 720p with a 3MP camera. Looking at this, it appears the 10" model has the same camera and also records in 720p. Can someone else confirm?

Maybe you should complain to the store you bought it from and ask for a refund if you are unhappy with it.
For myself, my galaxy nexus does 1080p video (but my display is 720p), and it is much more portable and convenient to use for recording. If I record a video, I prefer to watch it on my computer or TV. For me, the tablet is more of a portable web browser, gaming platform, eBook, and media streaming box. I can understand if you made your purchase for other reasons though.

I have a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 model GT-P5113 and the box states "HD Video Capture and Playback", it doesn't specify 1080p or 720p on the box at all. The included recording app will let you choose a maximum resolution of 1280x720 for video recording.
Edit: http://www.samsung.com/us/system/co...tsyxar/Galaxy_Tab_II_10.1_Spec_Sheets_v13.pdf shows 1080p playback at 30fps and says nothing about the resolution of recording video, only that it has a 3MP camera.
You can't tell the difference between 1080 and 720 on anything smaller then a 32 inch screen anyways.

I agree, however, the issue the OP has is that he was expecting Full HD recording, which the Galaxy Tab 2 is not capable of.

[Q] 4k videos on Nexus 7 (grouper)

Is there any way to play 4k videos on Nexus 7? I had tried with different players (like MX Pro, XBMC etc.) but none of them worked. Some played only audio, some didn't read a file.

The Nexus 7 hardware does not support 4k playback
So what is the maximum resolution of video that Nexus will play? I have tried 2560x1440 but it still doesn't work. Is it "only" 1080p?
What's the point of playing a higher resolution? The nexus 7 is 720p, not 1080p. I'm sure it can play higher resolution videos, but you can't get a higher output than 720p.

Well i dose not support 4k
I just tested it with my note 3 4k recording
and all i got was a black screen but i got the sound from it
4K is too highe for nexus 7, compress your 4k videos in advance
Well... recording 4k-Video will be impossible because 4k is more than 8MP and the Cmaera-Module of the Nexus 7 has just 5 Megapixels!
But playing 4k-Video... - ?
I think the processing power is strong enough for 1440p but maybe it's to weak for 2160p!

[Q] Youtube QHD support in NOTE 4

although i have note 4 the youtube app limits the qulaity to 720p only without any 1080 or better resolution choices
first i uninstalled the updates and re install it again the 1080 appears the with the new update limitation returns
to 720p
off course i tried to open UHD video but the same res. 720p only
any suggestions ?
thanks
Some people are saying that youtube version 5.9 is able to play at 1080p. Sideload that version, then go to the play store and disable auto update for the youtube app
Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
You need to remove all updates, clean data and caches.. Reboot and install the new YouTube version and you will get 1080p. If you don't know how to do please send a PM and I will send to you the YouTube version with 1080p.
Well, i did the same by removing the newest YouTube app and removed the app data and caches and so on. And i did reboot the phone and then i installed YouTube v5.9.0.13 that gave me both 1080p and 1440p video resolution option.
Yes, i also disabled the auto-update of the YouTube app in Play Store.
But that fun lasted for 3 days, then they just disapeared without any reasons. So i might have to try this all over again to see if i get the 1080p and 1440p video resolutions back.
EDIT: It didn't work to install the YouTube v5.9.0.13 to get back the 1080p and 1440p resolution. So i'll guess we are stuck at 720p for the time being.
I did it three times
Forst one i get the 1080 then also suddenly it returnes to 720p
The other two times totaly failed
And 720p dominated
Any way it seems that we will wait

Youtube videos 1080p, 60 fps, HDR

S8 Exynos variant, I'm on latest software update (august patch), youtube videos at 1080p 60fps with HDR stutter on my phone. Sometimes the brightness goes down then up then down then up again and so on (HDR clips should keep the brightness all the way up I think). It seems to drop frames also, since I've watched the clips at 720p and I've seen the difference.
The clip I watched was on youtube's recommended smartphones page (S8 is on that page ...).
S8 Exynos variant is not optimized to handle HDR 60FPS High resolution content. It's just..... it can't.
The device is limited of what it can do actually, yes it can play HDR content but moving up to 1080p HDR 60fps and above, it will tear out the screen in youtube, that will make your eyes hurt.

The problem is with HDR movies only. I watched lots of movies at 1440p 60fps without problems. Also, youtube recognized my phone and 1080p HDR was the maximum choice at Resolution option (on PC it goes higher). If it can't play the movie at 1080p HDR the maximum resolution should be 720p HDR, right?

There is a big difference with videos that are HDR and NON-HDR content.
I can watch 60fps 1440p movies NON-HDR without problems.
But watching something that is 1080p HDR content will cause some stuttering and/or fragmentation that stresses our eyes.
S8 is not as good as S9 when it comes to HDR viewing. S9 is provisioned to be HDR ready in Netflix, but S8 is not.
