[Q] Just got a new g2 with newest OTA - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. Just got a G2 and I haven't really messed around with rooting or custom roms in a few years. I was wondering if it's possible to root and load a custom on this phone? I just got one earlier today, it has the latest OTA and it seems like a good phone so far. Is there a definitive guide or thread somewhere? I took a look and I'm not fully understanding all the terminology. Thanks!

Download and install http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906 (Stump Root)
It will root your device with one tap.
After rooting download SuperSU and install
And for recovery download AutoRec http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496

[Q] New to LG G2, overwhelmed by nformation

Hello Guys. I'm going to buy my LG G2 tomorrow. And Going to Travel the next day.
I really want to Root + Unlock Recovery as soon is get my hands on my new phone. But with so many models, KitKat breaking Root and bootloops, i'm very confused as to what I should do.
Can you guys enlighen me regarding the "state of the art" tools for Unlocking Bootloader and Rooting my G2?
As for May 24th, this thread may help some newbies out there too
1. For root. Find ioroot25.
2. For custom recovery. Find autorec. Its an apk file. Load the file to phone after root and just run it from phone. Itll downgrade you rec to jelly bean and install twrp iirc.

[Q] updated to 5.0 ROM, lost root

Hi everybody!
I recently updatet my formerly rootet G2 (D802) to Android 5.0 (OmniROM). My Problem is that I somehow lost root and I'm wondering how I can restore root on the phone with 5.0 installed.
I didn't find any links/howtos or tips to do so under 5.0 so is anyone here who can give me a little piece of advice?
Thanks!

If you read the OmniROM original post you find this:
ROOTING:
Since OmniROM does not come rooted out-of-the-box, you can use SuperSU to do that if needed.
You can always fetch the latest stable from chainfire's site: Download
Flash it via TWRP and you're done.

[Q] LG G2 (D800) Rooted Stock v30f Rom?

Hi guys!
I want you to tell me if someone on these G2 forums could pass me a Root v30f Stock Lollipop Rom, cause I tried a lot of methods in order to root my LG G2, and all went unsuccessful...
Thanks in advance, Joe
Hi joe,
I am kinda confused, are you looking for rooting method that works for lollipop? If you are looking for prerooted rom, well, you can't flash it because you are not rooted and don't have custom recovery. What methods did you try for rooting?

No, I'm looking for someone who has the original ROM (for D800 - v30f), and have it rooted, or having a Rooted TOT ROM to flash it; but if you have a method for root, I would be very grateful.
The methods I used were:
- Through SRK Tools
- Script from HighOnAdnroid.com
- Several tutorials on YouTube, but all were prompt, and none worked, because they were stuck ...
- TowelRoor (unsupported)
- StumpRoot (unsupported)
- Return To Previous Roms, and re-Lollipop (not working)
- And other more .........

Problem installing TWRP on my G2 D802

Hello there!
So i just got an used G2 and i've been trying to install TWRP but i can't get it done.
I tried so many methods including AutoRec and all i get is an error when booting in recovery.
I've seen alot of topics about this but its all old from android 4.4 and i'm running stock 5.0.2.
Even on TWRP website there isn't an option for the D802 model.
Is there any way i can install a custom ROM on the phone? Any fix for that?
use blastagator's twrp... not the official one
search for "blastagator twrp bumped" on lg g2 forums...
although i saw that his download site is down atm... but there is a mirror on dorimanx server too
Thank you for your answer but i just manage to make it work.
Flashed stock KitKat 4.4.2 then followed the steps with the old guides.

Upgrade to Nougat before or after root

I couldn't find a solid answer to this question anywhere. I have a stock axon 7 A2017UV1.0.0B29 build and wanted to root the phone, but also wanted to upgrade to Nougat b15. Would I have better luck rooting first on b29 and then upgrading or should I attempt to root after the upgrade is complete? I'm not really looking to install any custom Rom at the moment and would just like to have a rooted device. Many of the tutorials bundle root in with a custom ROM which is part of the reason why I'm having so much trouble searching for a solution.

Just find a guide and follow it until you have unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP. That's all you need to have root.
After that you just flash Magisk or supersu
