Just got my Note Edge! - Note Edge General

Hello all,
Just got my Note Edge (SM-915P) as a upgrade from a Galaxy S4. So far I'm happy with it. The screen is sharp, it's fast, and feels good in my hand. Been reading alot on this forum, thanks to everyone who has contributed. Now I'm off to root it!

Hello avenging!
I've noticed quite a bit of difference on Sprint Spark (my old S4 was the non Spark version). I got the Rasta Banana screen protector in today and while it covers the entire screen, it's too stiff so it doesn't conform to the rounded curve of the Edge. I'm reading up on the rooting process, looking forward in getting it done. How do you like the Note Edge so far?

The best screen protector that I've found so far is the Skinomi. The dry application ones don't seem to stay attached to the Edge screen for very long.

Hello slimc84, appreciate the heads up on the skinomi, will check it out. I had the invisableshield glass on my S4 and it was amazing, guess I got spoiled with that.

s5 grainy screen

Hi everyone.
i dont know if anyone felt the same way like me.
i feel that my s5 is having kinda grainy screen... its like a thin layer of grainy.. so u can see it when u scroll up/down. it stays. its not really crystal clear.. the feel is like putting anti-oil screen protector.
yes, text and everything is crisp.. but a thin grainy layer is annoying.. checked another phone at samsung experience store showing the same
its actually mentioned by s5 review Erica Griffin
do guys feel the same way or it's just my over-obsessive eye? lol i hope i was wrong...
sorry for my bad english...
Coming from an LCD screen, if I look close enough I can see it, but it really doesn't bother me lol
I had that on my Note 2 before. I had it exchanged and the new phone did not have the issue.

well i wish i got eyes like yours XD.. well mostly it's only showing with white background with many texts.. or plain colour.. in general photos its good. but i was annoyed why s5 got this type of LCD.. its not happened with Note 3 or s4.

I am sure it is not because I already tested a few display samples from 3 different shops, Walmart and Tmobile shops. I tested them because I was considering buying one too. But not anymore, I am waiting for the LG G3.
Just had the same issue.
My sdcard was upside..... solved 4 me

Look what I got

Both the s6 and edge
Congratulations!! Why both ? I just want to buy one , but still don't know which one to buy

I didn't buy them and I don't own them, I would go for the regular s6,the edge just doesn't feel good in the hand for me.
I don't have the opportunity to try both and choose one like you! Instead I gonna go to bestbuy store to check if they have on display...

This seems to be a personal preference thing. Half the reviews think the Edge is nicer to hold and the other half don't like how sharp the sides are. Same with the M9 -- some reviewers like the extra grip from the lip but some felt it was uncomfortable and dug into their hands.

For me it wasnt that bad to hold at all
What else apart from the feel in hand makes you prefer the standard s6? I only had 20 minutes or so but decided on the standard due to it having:
sharper clearer screen
undistorted video viewing and images just looked better
better tempered glass protector and case fitting chances
This after being dead set on buying the edge, tell us your thoughts

The edge feels much to small, coming from a note 4 that might be expected of most phone but the edge felt a lot smaller then the s6. I also didn't like the fact that it's harder to see content on the edges cause it does wrap around, to me those "benefits" don't make up for the difference in price me, especially when I was all for the edge before I got to hold then both. Keep in mind though, that's just my opinion.

It's like you're explaining exactly how I felt. Gimmicky and disappointed is what I was left feeling when I was ready to make love to it as I walked in. Before all this I was cursing the standard one for being boring and nothing special. I was wrong
I think Samsung will increase its use later. But I watch a lot of video and like that crisper flatter screen

Is S7 Edge worth it?

Hi!
I`m planning to buy Samsung Galaxy S7. Is Edge worth paying more? Curved display looks great and I heard that battery is better. How much longer it lasts?
I`m upgrading from S6 which has terrible battery life.
Re. battery life, head over to the relevant thread. I just posted my screen shots. Probably about 1 - 2 hours extra SOT over the S7 all else being equal.
As to 'worth it' ... only you can decide whether you need/want the bigger screen and curved edges.
2 hours? Wow. I think I should go for Edge version. I'll post my verdict later

... but you won't find a glass screen protectors that reliably stays on with a case

Only downside of the curved screen for me, I do miss my glass protectors. But as long as you accept they never work and don't bother wasting money on them then it's not a major problem. I've had a Zagg Dry HD on mine since it was around 3 days old and it still looks and feels fine.
As for the question, the S7 Edge is by far the better option in my view. The hardware might be the same but the extra size in the screen, the curve features and bigger battery all make it the obvious choice between the two.
I didn't use any screen protectors on my S6 and I have only 1 visible scratch next to the Samsung logo after 7 months.
How about Always on Display. Is it useful in general?

That's one scratch more than me, which is the point of screen protectors. I also don't buy into the claims they ruin the feel of the screen. A screen with a good quality protector on feels different, but not in a bad way for me.
As for AOD, I used it for a few days when I first got the phone then turned it off. They claim it only uses 1% an hour on average, but that is still between 16 and 18 percent a day for me. I find it a bit of a gimmicky feature that, in terms of notifications, doesn't really show anything more than the LED does. Less so in fact because, without Xposed, AOD only shows missed calls and messages. Things like WhatsApp aren't supported.
I went from the S6 the S7 Edge and the battery life in a VAST improvement, HUGE
Agreed I average 6 hours SOT

Okay guys thanks for your help.
I just bought Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge It`s pretty good.

Ugly display

Received an upgrade offer from my carrier and had a look at the 8+.
The thing looks like one of those 80's fishbowl CRTV's* with those stupid curves in the corners top and bottom. The Edge Display either side just accentuates the whole thing. Butt ugly.
I hope the Note 8 will look better!
Edge 7 user.
* Cathode Ray TV for those of you too young to remember
Cool story bro specially the part about looking better than S7 edge

I like the Note 8 part, myself.
But hes a edge 7 user....lol people crack me up
Beauty and Ugly are subjective.
Voted worst XDA thread Title of the month!

Fan boys ?
I could walk out with one but I am more than happy with the S7. Bring on the Note (with flat display)!

The s7 edge curve doesn't compare to the s8 cureve. S7 edge curve is awful.
I hate to break it to you, but the note will be curved.
I know. I played with it. I can live with the curve but find the rounded screen edges a distraction.
Shame about the Note curved display.
Omg... another poor child

Not happening, same display as the S8+.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 screen
Hottest leaks:
Pixel-sense 4K resolution
6.4-inch screen size likely
Another 'Infinity Display'
Well OP, each to their own.
Not sure why you felt so strongly about it that you needed to post here, seems like trolling, but whatever.
Good thing that there are all kinds, shapes, and sizes of phones out there. Buy what you like.

Note 8 will definitely have the same similar screen set up as the s8+ just a little bigger and less bezel . I had a s7 edge it wasn't bad but could've benefited more from this screen technology. If you want a flat screen get an iPhone 7 as the next iPhone will have a similar infinity display.
There are plenty of android phones without curved edges, too. He has tons of other options if he doesn't like the S8.

True I was being sort of sarcastic this device has one of the best displays if not the best display ever. It seems as though curved screens will soon be more common, at first I thought it was just a novelty but I'm surprised at how much function Samsung put Into the curved screens.

To each their own, I got over it about a day after I started using it.

Anyone else missing the Note 5 flat screen?

I am loving my new FE and *really* loving having an SD card slot again!
BUT I really just miss having a nice flat screen. Reading media -- ebooks, web pages is not quite as nice on a curved screen.
The FE with the Note 5 screen would be the perfect device
MM
Nope - had the note 5 and personally prefer this. Didn't like the curve on the S8+ though. This one is squarer ...if you know what I mean!

Yep, screen curvature (radius) is less on the FE than the S8 (or S7 Edge). Sammy did this to make it better for writing on screen with the pen. S8 curved edges are definitely too much.
Still, I wish there wasn't this headlong rush for curved screens.
