Troubleshooting
Q. I am seeing No Su message but I have given the app permissions whats wrong?
A. As well as SU permissions the rom need to be setup correctly with so many roms out there were bound to have issues. You can test if it is an app issue or a rom issue by:
1.Downloading a Terminal Emulator from the Playstore (free)
2. After installing it type in su and hit enter/return it will ask for su permissions grant it.
3 Type reboot recovery hit enter/return this should reboot your device into recovery of it does not its a rom issue. Ask rom dev or try another rom.

Please test your device is properly setup by downloading a terminal emulator from the playstore (most are free)
then type
su (enter/return) it will ask of su permissions
reboot recovery (enter/return)
If all is setup correctly your device will reboot into recovery and it is app issue else there is a problem in your rom (most likely symlinks)
Also please check you have busybox correctly installed. And have flashed the latest SuperSU zip.

You probably missed super user requesting root. Open your super user app and forget 3minit rebpoter. Then open 3minit rebopter and grant root. Enjoy. Always work Gray! - Check out this link

AS you can see from the 1st screenshot the app has failed for the same reason terminal emulator did it can't find the reboot tool . You can try to refresh your rom and reinstall busybox to see if it helps.

I will try both - is it odd that the app quick boot works fine but your app doesn't ? everything else that needs su permissions works fine - and can recommend a busybox installer ? should I use stericcson's ?

Yes that would be strange as my app terminal emulator and quick book all work in the same exact way! Same as all roboot apps in the playstore unless it uses xposed

reflashed ROM - no luck - and stericcsons busy box says I have 1.22 installed - was gonna reinstall but it says it will reinstall v1.21 so I didn't do it -
from my VM SGS3 - jdsingle76's rooted 4.4.2 NDC - stock kernel (for now ?) ?

Using this on my gs6 920p - any way to have this pop up instead of the stock power menu when I longpress power? thanks

[Release] Custom Rom "Breakneck" for LG Vortex

.: About The Rom
This Rom is for the LG VORTEX only!!!! It will not work with any other phone.
To use this rom you will have to be on 2.2 and be rooted and have the custom recovery installed. To root use z4root. To install the custom recovery go here http://androidforums.com/getitnowmarketing/221375-custom-recovery-vortex-thunderc-vzw.html

After you get the custom recovery installed create a nand backup.<h2><B>MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS SO YOU CAN GO BACK TO OEM.</B></h2> Now that you backed up your nand clear your cache, So go to <B>WIPE</B> and pick the following
Wipe Data/Factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Ok Since you Already have have the custom rom on your sdcard go ahead and pick "Flash zip from sdcard"

Thanks for the tips on getting me back to 2.2 from the 2.2.1 upgrade.
I've tried version 2 of the breakneckmod and I cannot adb shell into it. It gives me the following error when I try:
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
check_LGE_official: fopen(/sdcard/thunder_security) error
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Yeah I fixed the problem in V2.1 for some reason in version 2 the sh in bin got renamed to sh0 don't know why it is strange but version 2.1 is being uploaded right now
sorry about that let me know if it is fixed cause it is fixed on my end
Installed and works perfectly. Thanks a bunch for your work and develpment.
Updated to Breakneck mod V3
Is it possible to edit the way the home screen functions? for example; number of screens, transition effects etc. I like the home screen otherwise obviously I would use another, but I am more of a 3 screen kinda guy
When can we expect a new update for your rom. Because im like thirsty for one lol
I tried getting the Breakneck MOD and it says that it could not be found....?
Go put this in the LG Vortex section or request the section .

Cuz my ADATA class 4 32GB has the following results: http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/1396/sonyericssonr800i201202.png
Ok, this is working just nice, but i have to keep fixing permissions for every reboot, in order to have GSM network signal.

I just wiped and reflashed tweaks rom version 5.
updated to doom kernal 11, installed wifi zip.
booted phone, set up wifi, and apn.
follwed this step,
Code:
C:\>adb push 40ad2sdx /system/etc/init.d/
C:\>adb shell
# cd /system/etc/init.d
# chmod 755 40ad2sdx
# cd /
# umount /system
# exit
Rebooted phone 2 times, fixed permissions a few times but still almost every app force closes.
Can someone who has this working write up a full step by step guide and what order to to all the steps?
Thanks
Oh yeah, i have an xperia play gsm.

Sorry for noob question.
But could someone please explain how to fix permissions in CWM?
When i try fix_permissions in ADB Shell, i always get "/sbin/sh: fix_permissions: not found". Is my Phone missing a file or is my shell missing a file? How to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance

Many of you may be familiar with ADB GUI (Or ADB Helper UI). So am I. I always thought it could use something... I don't know... Then, a few days ago, while reading the portal, I read it got an update. So I had a look and downloaded the program. I looked at it, and thought: "Well. It works! But what can I do about it, and how could I make it better? It's missing some tools..."
So then I opened up Visual Studio and coded on. I spent an entire day working out the design and how it should work and what features it should have. I had no internet at the time (Change of ISP) so I then coded and coded and coded until it was bed-time. The next day I started coding and wasn't sure about the design, so I deleted the code, got rid of the project and started anew. And the results aren't too bad!
So today I am proud to present to you, Better ADB GUI!
It's still very early and almost nothing works, but I want to show it off and release the current source code.

Well, as sad as it is, I don't code in VB anymore, and I especially don't use Windoze anymore.
So, any functionality that is found here, will:
a) Be also incorporated into my much older project Universal Android Toolkit - which will be coming very soon
or
b) Will be ported to Java for use with Windoze (Universal Android Toolkit is mutating to a BSD/BSD-like OS-only program, because we've go way to little of these.
But, you can pull the source and try it out for yourself. I can't remember what's working and what isn't, but hey. There should be a working build in thre somewhere, and you should be able to carry on maintaining it.

Yes jellybean as well as KitKat
Hi.
Thank you for this good recovery! I'm using it from this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/rom-wiko-kitkat-rom-mmxa120-clones-t2981756
But, I have found two bugs:
1) USB don't work at all. It's possible to fix it? I like to have ADB access in the recovery.
2) The option for "Re-root System (superSU)" don't work. I executed it multiple times, boot to Android, download SuperSU, but then the program says "no su binary available". You know why this function don't work?
Regards!

Ok,
So please, can you publish two different versions? One with su binary and one without. Then the user can select if it's partition maps has sufficient space.
Related to USB port. How I can access to shell with this recovery? From the mobile, from USB, from wifi, or whatever... ?

I would have never removed su if the recovery partions is of size more than 6 mb but unfortunately it is of 6mb only and su binaries in recovery are old u can SuperSU zip and get root access LINK
If you are using kk rom then i will advice u to use Superuser instead of supersu. because supersu fails to elivate some permissions in mtk kk roms.
And for access try usb otg

Ok,
Related to SuperSU, I recommend to remove the option in the recovery or put a mode when the su binary is loaded from the SD card, like the load of the Aroma FileManager.
In reference to USB, don't work at all! If I try in the Philz to enable "usb otg" it don't work. What I can do?
Thank you!
Hi,
Because no posts about fixing the USB problem. Plase, can the author publish the source code of this port?
Thank you!

Glad to hear this is working for you, it's not really anything that hasn't been covered in more depth in other threads / guides...
As a note; You would only lose root, if you flashed a kernel, but didn't flash SuperSU after && or by installing busybox into the wrong location or by replacing the system applets...
Personally, I install busybox into /sbin/supersu/bin because it has the advantage of not touching the /system partition at all - so for example; I can flash a a full factory image (rather than OTA), using flash-all script (removing the -w argument to not wipe data) and retain busybox.
Cheerz
Have you got any advice about viper/arise? I just need it and than I'm good to go :good:

Not really, no. I don't use viper or arise. I would say read through the related threads on them. There is bound to be good instructions.... sometimes I read through the comments, in particular; the last couple of pages on a given thread, as sometimes there is useful information.
I pretty much have a similar setup to your device, plus substratum and a few other root apps and tweaks. (Fdroid, adaway, afwall, etc).
Good luck.
Is there a difference in flashing the boot.img versus flashing the image minus the -W? I've been trying and trying but I always end up with boot loops and it going back to stock recovery. Usually the boot Loops start right away when I'm first rebooting the system. Last night I got Elemental and root installed it worked fine for about 30 minutes then started bootlooping and ended up at stock recovery again.
I used Busybox v1.27.2 from osm0sis
What I do:
- Flash the September update (I do a full wipe)
- Boot up, finesh the setup and set a pin
- boot modded twrp
- Enable MTP and copy the Files (BusyBox v1.27.2, EX Kernel 2.0.1, SuperSU v2.82 SR3 & Suhode v1.0.8)
- Flash EX Kernel, SuperSU, Suhide and BusyBox
- reboot and enjoy
PS: passing with Substratum is also no problem
Flash sr4 to prevent bootloop: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133

Adaway was giving me problems too. Started using Brave browser and haven't looked back. https://www.brave.com/
Installing busybox in /system/bin didn't work for me. Flashing Busybox from osm0sis did.

This is the best adblocker for android, it uses dns block lists like pi-hole and root isn't needed since it uses the vpn interface:

Adaway works great if you change the "Target hosts file" to "/data/data/hosts"
I installed the updated Stericson Busybox to /sbin/supersu/xbin and all working great.

Viper4arise does work but only with the older release...for me at least. I tried many times and ways with magnumopus and it wouldn't work. Using the 2.94 deurotomy aroma installer it's installed and processing.
