installing .exe files on the hd ?

yup , i just bought the hd and already installed few programs but all of them were .cab files , but i was wondering how to instal the .exe files i found on the net or isn't this possible ? so yes can someone please help me out here , thx .
I'm pretty new to this, but I think in general, you have to connect you HD to your PC via USB, choose the activesync option (not direct drive), then run the exe on the PC, and it will install it to your HD via the cable.
If the pc doesn't recognise the exe (won't run it), try running it on the HD using file manager.
There are two types of exe files.
Those that run on the PC and those that run on the phone.
It usually states somewhere which one it is.
As Eclogue said, if it won't run on the PC, copy it to your
Storage drive and run it from there.

How to install Zipped EXE files?

hi guys..
seems like a n00b question..i know
but i downloaded some cool apps from handango which are made for Xperia..but i was unable to install them.
do i need to use Activesync for such files?...and if yes..i also tried to install activesync 4.5 but it says 'not for Vista'
any tips?
exe files can be
1. pda exe's which is not install files but the program itself
which you yourself have to copy to where ever you want it
and make a shortcut in programs yourself
2. windows exe's which use activesync on xp and Windows Mobile Device Center on vista
to copy the cabs to the pda and auto install them
in many cases those exe files are self-extracting zip files and one can just rename them zip and copy out the cab files one needs typically the arm one
thanks..i installed Windows Mobile Device center on my vista..connected X1 via USB and done!

Installing Apps/Games

Just downloaded a couple of free games to my Laptop, now where do I copy these on my HD2?
Anywhere you like. Use file explorer to find the cab's on the phone and open them.
You have to conect it with ActiveSync on Windows XP or Windows Mobile device Center on Vista and copy files with File Explorer...then, install in phone also with file explorer
Running Windows 7, and connected with Active Sync. Guess I'll start a new folder within "My Documents" for games/apps and drop them in there and give it a try
cheers lads

SDK WP7 for windows xp!

On MS site there isn't an sdk for xp but only for vista o 7! I found this...download the iso file and burn it on the cd o dvd! Then make this u read in this post!
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=201927
http://www.ms-windows.info/Help/wp7-dev-tools-sdk-win-xp-15535.aspx
Anyone confirm this working?
I followed the instructions on the link. However 2 of the files are not able to install because I am missing windows developers tool or visual studio. Thought I was just installing those programms.
Still, anyone succeeded in installing sdk for xp.
yeah i couldnt download the two files either. seemed kind of contradicting.
Installing Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools on XP
1. Download the Windows Phone Developer Tools SDK 7.1 from Microsoft Download Center
2. Extract the downloaded package by running vm_web2.exe /x
3. Go to the folder of the extracted package & open the file baseline.dat in any text editor
4. Look for the ‘gencomp7788’ section and change this two entries from 1 to 0:
* InstallOnLHS=0
* InstallOnWinXP=0
5. Save the file baseline.dat
6. Run setup.exe /web
7. All ok installing :good:

GT-P1010 download mode Odin windows 8 problem solved!

Hello Everybody, this is my first post on XDA forum and i hope it helps people facing my same problem:
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab P1010 and Odin, on my Windows 8 64-bit won't recognize it in Download Mode. So, after lot of trying i finally solved the problem in this way:
-search in google: SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe (22.8mb)
- rename the file with .rar extension in order to open it with winrar (windows 8 doesn't run the exe, it gaves me error) and extract it on a new directory in the desktop.
-in Windows Device Manager, right click on "SAMSUNG USB DRIVER" (with the yellow triangle) and then choose update driver.
-select "choose the driver from a directory" and select the directory on the desktop previously created.
i think this may work also on other devices.
hope it helps.
(sorry for my bad english xD)
