Verizon 2GB Promo Data / Free 1 YR (1x12 MO) - YMMV - Updated April - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 General

I am giving you guys a little update recently Verizon came out with new 2GB promo data here is the name of it.
I wasn't able to get it so your best bet is to call them and find out:
What to do?
Call them and ask for this data promo:
2GB SHR DATA x 12MOS 2GB
Make sure you tell the rep that it's a shared data promo and it does not extend contract and is good for one 1 year.
I removed the old information since it's no longer valid for sure.

They gave me 500mb per line and 10% off billing all for 12 months. 2gb wasn't available to me.

500MB of data per month at account level. Valid 01/21/2015 - 02/20/2016
That's all I see right now. If you want a photo attached-I'm not sure how. New to the forum.

Perfect! thank you.
That appears to be 500 MB "shared data" not per line. And what about the 10% off?
You can make a screenshot upload it to postimage.org and provide a link since you are new user just remove https://
My old promotion says the same (on my phone) what you just shared with me but it's 1GB (got it almost 1 year ago).

Did a chat and gave a story about a friend receiving this promotion. Provided the offer code to the CSR. She said she was able to apply the offer to my account but could not back date it. My billing cycle is another 13 days so I can't confirm until then. Will report back results.

It appears the rep offered you a different plan I assume it was Loyalty 2GB for same price.
If I was you I would call back and make them do it at this moment because you never know Verizon might stop that Loyalty plan one day.. Good luck!

Are you suggesting the rep changed my plan instead of adding a promotion? There's a Loyalty 2GB More Everything plan? When I get the chance later today I'll actually call in to get the details of what the online rep did.

Nah what I am trying to say she/he was trying to actually give you something better.
You seem to have 500MB plan (shared) so he/she was trying to give you 2GB plan (I assume) that you can keep forever @ same price.
Because you told me he/she couldn't back-date it a promotion does not need to be backdated so this is why I am pretty sure they wanted to give you the 2GB shared plan at same price.

Ugghh... no go. I usually have very good luck with reps in the past but after calling in to confirm what the online CSR had done the phone CSR did not sound very competent. It took a long explanation and guidance and he eventually found the future dated order and claimed it was to switch me to a 700 minute unlimited text plan. I'm not confident if he knew for sure but I didn't want to risk losing my 500MB plan since starting today it's no longer available so I had him cancel the order. He then said he couldn't add this offer to my account.
Today I attempted via chat again to get this data promo but the online rep said I wasn't eligible. I asked if I was able to receive any other offer and she came back and said I was eligible for a $10/month discount. Again not confident if she knew what she was doing I went ahead and asked her to apply it. Afterwards she gave me "great news" and said it was a $15 discount. At this point I had already guess she was "giving" me the the edge/month-to-month smartphone discount that I already had.....
I give up.

They can take the promos and shove it where the sun don't shine, thanks but no thanks... I'll enjoy my unlimited data for another year or 2.

I don't think you would lose this 500 MB share plan. Promotional data is not "a plan" it's a promotion.
It adds promotional data which is being used first before regular data is being used. And if you are out of contract I think she/he wanted to give you Loyalty Discount which extends contract by 1 Year. Good thing you didn't take it
if I was you I would call again and ask the rep about "Promotional Data Promotions"
here is my screenshot (my plan just reset 2 days ago) and my 1GB promo data expires when this billing cycle ends & data restarts.

A bit ago I got a text for this type of thing. But it wasn't for a year, it was permanent. I called them to make sure it was legit, so now I pay for the 2 gig plan but get four gigs

Can you tell me more? did they give you a 2GB loyalty plan or gave you 2GB promo data?
in your verizon account does it show in Blue color promotional data?
Can you go to my verizon log-in on your computer, click on + button on the top, click plans, scroll down under promotion and tell me what they gave you?

I gave them the promo code you provided. Under Promotions and Discounts I see "This device currently does not have any promotions"
And if I look closer all they did was change my plan to the 6gb plan, I am glad you asked for the additional information because I dont think the rep did anything useful other than changing my data plan.
I did it via the chat, and hit send email of chat but of course I never got the email.

Yup it appears you were simply given higher data plan for no cost. SO you went from 4gb to 6gb right ?

O really? I was really annoyed that they just changed my plan. Unfortunately I didn't look at my bill costs before I contacted them.
Is this what happened with you? No discounts shown or anything? Just switched from the 4 to 6 at no additional costs?

tmobile unlimited loyalty plan is nationwide now

tmobile's unlimited loyalty plan, which was only available in the Sanfransico area is now nationwide as of march 02 2009. those who qualify are people that have been tmobile customers for longer than 22 months and have a good payment history.

Yeah, been that way for a couple months now
I had it, now I dont see it on mine when I sign on... I called Tmo the other day for my G1 acting up and it asked if I wanted to do it and I said later. Is it still in affect?
Ended up not being cheaper for me.
Seems like every time T-mobile offers an upgrade, it cost me an extra 10 bucks. I guess if I didn't have myfaves for both phones, then it would prolly be in my best interest to have it.

not true...i've been in good standing with t-mo for 7 years+. when i called last month to inquire, they said it was only open to "select" customers...even today, when i log onto the website, the unlimited plan still shows $99.99. wtf?? i have been with these fools since 2001!
i've sent an email to t-mo just now. i'll advise as soon as i hear back.

I work in a store and have run into this issue. I thought it was people who have been with us for 22 months or more but I guess there are some hidden factors there. The only thing I can think of is if you had your service suspended. Other than that I can't think of anything else that would effect it.

i don't think my service has been suspended any time in the past 4+ years...i'm wondering if it's because i don't ever use anywhere near my current plan's 1500 minutes.
here's the log of my chat session with T-Mo CS:
me: can you tell me why i don't qualify for the "unlimited loyalty" plan? i have been with t-mobile for nearly 8 years.
CSR: Today, this offer is available only to selected customers.
CSR: T-Mobile runs promotional offers and test offers that are available to different groups of customers, and at this time, your account does not qualify.
CSR: In the future, your account may be eligible for similar type offers. For some of our test offers, whether or not we extend these offers beyond the initial qualified group depends on response from our customers.
CSR: The exact criteria used for the promotion is not available as many different pieces of criteria were considered when selecting the specific audience available for this promotion.
me: so there are no specifics as to why i don't qualify after more than 7 years as a t-mobile customer?
CSR: This is a promotional offer only available for a short time
CSR: Based on the response to this offer, we hope to extend it to a wider audience in the future.
me: thank you for your help.

i did change my number, but it was 5 years ago when i moved to california. i just edited my previous message to add the chat session i had with a csr. it seems qualification is random...like i said, i go nowhere near my plan minutes now (1500 for $49.99) so i'm not really missing out on anything...it's just...if they're gonna reward people for their "loyalty", i certainly want to be recognized for my 80 months of loyalty!!

My understanding is that this is the unlimited Loyalty plan is not available to business/corporate lines (which is what your account is if you are getting a discount through your employer.) It is somewhat hard to get positive confirmation of this though. The eligibility requirements on the web are vague. I have been w/ T-Mobile since 2001 and I was offered the option.

ahh...that makes sense...in january my company sent an email to all associates telling us we can receive a 10% discount on our t-mo bill. i called and gave the CSR the code. i bet they then switched me to a corporate account.
things are getting clearer...but why couldn't the CSR tell me that today?
sounds like they were just giving you a standard response without even really looking at your account.

I feel the same way. I like the idea of having unlimited minutes but I have more than enough with myfaves and my 600 minutes right now. I almost never touch the 600 in a month with Nights and weekends on there.
I think, if you believe i'm so "loyal" and you want to offer me a "deal" make it something cheaper than what I already use.

finally, a "non standard" response. i received an email today telling me that i do, in fact, qualify for the unlimited loyalty plan, but i would lose my corporate discount. then the CSR said she reviewed my usage and recommended that i stay at my current plan. she told me that i'd save $10.70/mo if i do NOT switch.

yes you have to, but atleast you have the option of full payment and getting EM+ which isnt so bad at $59.99.
Plus after 2 months you get around $150+ back which is always nice
i will go with the BCB about a month from now.

well you have to get a plan whether you're going for the subsidized price or the full price, you cannot buy it without getting a plan, atleast not to my knowledge.
Also you're account has to be active for 60 days from getting a plan, meaning you have to use tmobile service for 60 days in order to get BCB.

buy phone direct from walmart. pay 500+tax and phone is yours. u dont have to sign or buy any contract.
second option is to buy phone from wmdeals.com cost (150+tax+one month or 15 days rent+200 etf) and phone is yours
thanks
I found the hd 2 is only 99.99 with 2yr contract in amazon.com
so the best price is supposed to be
100+ no tax+one month rent 60 +200 etf=360?
but if i want to transfer to att still need to unlock so might be 120 for 2 months rent
could it work?

This is exactly what I did. I ordered the phone online with the bing discount. After I got it I played around with it for a few days, called and canceled. They didn't give me any trouble at all, seemed rather happy I'm keeping the phone to use with their prepaid They canceled my plan and refunded my activation (they pre-activated the thing when it shipped). The only slightly annoying part is they billed me useage for when the phone was in transit. I didn't really argue that one, just happy to get activation refunded.
Naturally this is for a phone I paid their retail price for.
I used bsbtweak to permanently disable the data, although I'm not sure it would've connected to data anyway.

did you use tmobile service for 60 days?? because in order to be eligible for BCB your account has to be active for 60 days.
So how many days did you use the phone for because it hasnt been 60 days since the hd2 came out meaning you wont be getting the BCB in this case!!!
let me know your timeline.
i am planning to use BCB aswell for HD2 but with full payment and after i get BCB that is after 60days of service i might go to att.

The bcb is currently showing in my account as pending. I'll post an update when the 60 days comes up, but I'm not really expecting any problems. The BCB is on the phone, and has nothing to do with the plan. Since I'm keeping the phone the full order stands.
If you want to switch to AT&T you'll need to unlock the phone and you'll probably have to wait whatever amount of time tmo says before you can get that code. I wasn't leaving Tmo, really just switching plans.
If you still want a timeline here it goes without the date
Ordered the phone on a weekend with the Bing cashback
Tmo ships it on monday and I receive it wednesday night, sim, microsd, all inserted and activated. I replace the sim with my old prepaid, dumped the contacts in and make a few calls to make sure everything is cool.
Put the new sim back, play around with the phone through the weekend. Really there wasn't much to gain over my prepaid plan except Data connection.
Next Monday I called the tmobile and canceled the plan under buyer remorse. Been using the phone with prepaid card since.
Actually now that I think of it, there was a little more to tell about this. Bing sends you a notice as soon as you order something under the bcb. I never got one. It didn't even occur to me to check until after I had canceled. So I had to contact Bing and provide them my order information, and they added the cashback (very quickly I might add, good service). Alll that happened after I had already canceled my service.

oh ok, this is news to me, because i was under the impression that BCB requires you not to cancel before 60 days, hence the confusion on my part.
Iam planning on getting it on full payment so if i request the unlock code they give it out on full payment after a few days, they will just ask me to fax them some inofrmation.
Also when you inserted you pre-paid sim, did it start working? or did you have to unlock the hd2??
thanks for the information.

No problem at all. I had read before I bought the phone a "confession of a T-mobile sales rep" that there are no difference between between the regular subscription phones and prepaid phones. Also confirmed that in a faq I dug out before I finally pulled the trigger. So far so good, just waiting for the prepaid data from tmo.

Stealth change from $10 to $30 plan.

Ordered my Nexus S online, chose the $10/200MB plan with my existing family plan. Goes through fine, I print nearly every step to PDF. Get my email confirmation, $10/200MB plan.
Now I go to check the status of my order and the order now shows my plan has spontaneously changed to the $30/Unlimited plan.
Big surprise, they're evil cheating bastards.

Tmobile has some of the best costumer service i have ever experienced, call them tell them and problem solved,
no *****ing is necessary
Probably because the 200 MB plan is not for the Nexus S. That is my guess.
That's crazy. Yeah, just try calling them and seeing what's up. I just got mine today. I need the unlimited. Sucks I'm paying 4G price for a 3G service though..

Someone had to program a computer routine to change all the $10 plans to $30 after the sale had become final. There's no way this happens by accident. Even if they fix it for me later, they're still hoping to catch plenty of people off guard.

It isn't stated anywhere that this phone is any different than all their other phones, and the Best Buy system which connects to the T-mobile computer to verify my plan and eligibility offered me the $10 plan.
I'm just saying, this is why no one cares when someone finds a loophole in a contract to buy a phone for less or cancel their plan without a termination fee: because these guys are out to find ways to charge us more. Intentionally and stealthily changing a contract and then pretending it was the original deal is fraud and it's a crime. But I know...corporations can't go to jail, and they'll just claim it was a computer glitch.

Thanks for sharing this. I also saw that they were letting people pick the 200mb data plan. I was just about to get a Nexus S tomorrow too, but I guess I'm holding off for now. Let us know if they let you change the data plan.

Okay.. I was able to reproduce problems. Big bummer! AT&T's probably just got some sort of web error messing things up. I know they'll have pre-orders for current customers.
I just ordered it for 500 off contract. AT/T owes me an override for the problems with my captivate so I plan to call them in the morning and get it at the upgrade price, but wanted to make sure DG didnt order 80 of them and buy em all...

BTW: Mine still says only $399 off-contract with the discount.
Their website is all KINDS of screwed up. The Premier side of things won't let you order a data plan with the Atrix which prevents you from getting any discount...I don't understand how they can so completely screw up pre-orders...It's certainly not very confidence inspiring.
Oh, and FYI, this may be the "official" thread but there've already been several threads about pre-orders.

You're pretty daring hoping they'll be able to fix the order layer seeing as you've committed to the $500 price and offered your payment information already. All I can say is, GOOD LUCK!

I didn't mean it as official thread! I meant to say that's the official pricing... and that it's officially up and live. Not official thread!
Yes, I hope their web dev team straightens this stuff out.

I logged all the way out, and logged back into the premier account as if I wanted to upgrade my existing phone, then it showed it to me for 500 and let me order it.

I'm praying that they don't retract that $399 price.
PS I've found that the site is completely hosed up in Chrome, looks correct and all the data fills in right in IE (8). Weirdness...

verizon prepaid on xoom 3g

I have a 3g Xoom that I never activated (just use Wifi). I'm moving next month and think it would be useful to have the xoom with me when I go to find a house and do all that other stuff that you need internet for. I think what I'll need it for is mostly just craigslist, google maps, and email.
Does anyone have any experience using their xoom with a prepaid verizon data plan, or some other plan that will not require a contract? Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: So, called both Verizon and Best Buy (that's where this Xoom was purchased). The Verizon rep didn't know what a "zoom" is and said I could sign up for a 1 or 2 year plan. She also couldn't find my MEID# in their system. The Best Buy person wanted to help but didn't get that I only want 1 or 2 months. He also suggested I set it up with AT&T. How do these people feed themselves?
Okay, go in to a Verizon store with your Xoom in hand, tell them you want a Month to Month plan, I forget there exact term for it, but they should understand. Its not pre-paided, Verizon only offers pre-paided data with smartphones (odd? I think so too) its month to month because you aren't on contract but pay a monthly bill that you can cancel at anytime without consiquence , except that there is a 15$ re-activation fee you have to pay when you turn it back on. There reason behind this is that they assign your Xoom a phone number to be able to link it to their network (odd? I know). So basically you want a month to month plan, but you must go into a verizon store to do this, try to pick a bigger one rather than a smaller local one, so the people aren't doing this for their first time. And just a note, stay in the store after its activated and get them to call customer service so they can issue you a password to sign into their website. In order to sign into their website the first time you need to use your new phone number, and have them text you an initial password. Well since Xooms aren't phones and don't receive text messages on the number Verizon assigns you, you won't get the text message and there for won't be able to get your password to sign in. If the Verizon rep calls the customer service on the phone, they can get them to issue a temporary password to sign you in on spot with your Xoom like they did for me, if you don't do it this way, and try to do it thru the website or customer service without a Verizon Rep calling for you, you will be forced to wait for them to mail you the temporary password. Which some have reported long wait times in this forum after the initial launch. And you'll want to be able to sign in to their site to be able to track your data consumption.

OHHHHH and I forgot the most important part!!!!!!
THEY WILL RUN A CREDIT CHECK AND POSSIBLY MAKE YOU PAY A SECURITY DEPOSIT OF UP TO 400 USD IF YOU HAVE BAD CREDIT.(odd? I know)
Even though your not signing a contract, your not signing up for pre payed, so they will run the credit check.
If your not sure just go try, my girlfriends credit isn't great but she didn't have to pay anything to put data on my xoom. They tried to charge me $400, but that's because me and my dad have the same name, and he screwed my credit over before I even turned 18.

Thanks Tommy!
Do you use wireless tethering with your service? Is there a restriction on tethering to a laptop? How much data do I need (it will be for email, craigslist, GPS, google chat, light web)?
I appreciate your help!
I pm'd you. I work for VZW and can hook it up easy. Plans are $20 for 1gb, $35 for 3gb, $50 for 5gb. You could probably get by on the 3gb plan and can always bump it up. The tethering is unlimited and just goes against the allowance.

Not understanding how tethering is "unlimited" if it is charged against a plan. For example, if I had a 1gb plan, tethered and used 1.2 gb, won't I get charged for going over?

The prepaid plan is not available for the Xoom. After receiving my 4G upgrade, I call Verizon and was transferred 3 times while the different departments tried to figure everything out. Basically, Verizon's website shows that Tablets have a prepaid plan, but they don't specify what tablets are supported. Based on their website, all tablets are supported, but that isn't the case. They told me that 4G plans aren't supported for prepay. I was really looking forward to activating my Xoom, but I only wanted prepaid since it costs the same as the month-to-month minus any activation, overages, and reconnect fees.
I was planning on only having my service active when I needed it for work. If I choose the month-to-month plan, I will have to pay an activation fee every time I need to reactivate it. I really hope they update their website to reflect this information as I was very disappointed to learn this information over the phone. They tried to sell me a mobile hotspot, but I was not interested as I already tether my Xoom to my Sprint 4G phone.
Im on their early $20 1gb plan, that I know of I'm not on contract but I didn't want to pay the Sept bill cuz of the 4lte update so I didnt pay and thought they just cut it off till you pay for the next month but I got charged that month and a late fee.

I'm not on Verizon, but I do know that they have an option where you can "suspend" your account for a period of time where you don't have to pay.

You can suspend for up to 90 days at a time. Just need to make sure to go online or call in to re-suspend it afterwards if you want it suspended longer (technically you can do that the same day and have it suspended as long as you want).
VZW did, however, just start offering actual prepaid data on tablets literally a few days ago. Prices are $20 = 1GB, $30 = 3GB, $50 = 5GB, and $80 = 10GB and $35 activation.
IMHO the postpaid plans are a much better way to go because you can turn it on and off whenever and prorate your data usage and only have to pay an activation once. With prepaid the account will go inactive after a certain period of time and you will have to pay another activation fee to reconnect it. Only downside to postpaid is the credit check.

Odd, but I've been on the 5GB plan since new in May. I never use that much, so just went to the Verizon Wireless web site. I'm on a post-paid plan and was only presented with these options:
2GB for $30, 5GB for $50 and 10GB for $80. It's odd that this doesn't seem to reflect what others are seeing, so I'll go into the store at some point.

I know that you work for Verizon and hoped that you could clear some things up about Xoom prepaid plans. You state that there is an activation fee with prepaid data on tablets, but the this page states the following under "Prepaid Mobile Broadband/Tablets":
No activation or reconnection fees, and no overage charges.

So is there or isn't there an activation fee?
Are you familiar with or know much about the new Xoom system update (HLK75F) that enables a prepaid 4g option on the Xoom? See this thread and the attached pdf.
I already applied the HLK75F update, but when I go to "Settings/Wireless & networks/Mobile Networks/Verizon data service", it takes me to a "Mobile Broadband quick access" page in the browser. The page states:
Please try again or contact us to complete your order. Sorry! We are unable to complete your order online at this time. Please try again later or contact customer service at 800-786-8419 (18079782).

Is this error because I don't have a Verizon account and my Xoom isn't registered with the network? Fyi, I did have the LTE upgrade performed and my sim card is installed.
Is this something that you could assist me with? I want to have the option of using prepaid data on the Xoom without any contract, credit check, or activation fees. Thanks.
I to would like this without the pathetic credit check
