[Q] restoring stock recovery, rom, wiping root - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heya,
I need to returns my phone to as-purchased-state, which means if I am not missing anything - unroot, stock rom, stock recovery
I have rooted the phone, installed custom ROM (cloudy) and TWRP.
On my previous phone, samsung s2, the download mode had a flash counter that indicated how many times I flashed a rom.
On my LG G2, the download mode just says "rooted".
1) So where do I get a stock rom from?
2) Where do I get stock recovery?
3) How do I wipe any evidence of root?
4) In what order do I need to do everything?
I did google and came up with some of these answers, but I put my trust in XDA and hoping I won't f*ck my phone up by doing something in the wrong order.
Thanks!

Sorry this isn't an answer, but it might help you get an answer.
You may want to remove the part where you are admitting to warranty fraud.
Even though this is a hacking forum, people still disapprove of it.

Use the kdz method to return to stock. Its in the dev forum. You need the drivers for your phone, the kdz firmware, lgflash tool. All can be found in the dev section.

How to return phone to bone stock?

Anyone have a set of instructions or a link to returning my phone to completely bone stock? I know I can flash an unrooted and stock firmware, but the bootloader will still be unlocked. I need to RMA my phone and the store has turned me away in the past for having a modified firmware or bootloader.

The boot loader is not locked stock, so that's not a problem. Simply download the MF9 firmware and install using odin. Perform a factory reset in the stock recovery. Then use Triangleaway to reset the flash counter and you will be stock with no signs of tampering.

dont you have to be rooted to use TriangleAway? I would assume that using Odin to go back to MF9 would cause you to lose root, no?
Correct. You need to be rooted for TA.
What I'd do is use TA first. Then use Odin to install MF9 (or one of the older stock rom's). If the download screen still says custom, do another RTN/Factory Reset. That should clean it all up.
You could also try to just flash the stock recovery. Then run TA and see if that resets it all to Official on the Download screen. If it does, all you should need to do from there is Full Unroot from the SuperUser app.

Download the ODIN one click for SPH-L720_MDC_Stock_Restore.exe and follow the instructions on that site.
Puts you back at original release and then if you want, you can update through Sprint for the two upgrades you'll need to get back to MF9. You'll have everything back to stock, no counter trips and everything back at zero. I wish they made the ODIN one clicks for MF9, they're so easy.

Thank you! This is what I needed....
Coming from the Galaxy S2, it seemed like there were a million 1-click ODINS. Any idea why the S4 doesn't have these?

Well, I think that answer is complicated because there was some sort of fall out between users here at XDA and people that were part of the SXTP forums or they started their own forums or whatever. I don't really get into those politic things, I just look for resources that are useful and thank all those that are involved. That and there really aren't as many builds coming out for the S4 like there were for the S2 and the S3 for that matter.

chinese super. need to unroot phone

So i read off a guide how to get rooted from a chinese program etc. now i just want my phone squeeky clean just like how i bought it so i can follow a LEGIT guide on this forum to get ADB, root, TWRP or CWM and flashing roms working again. Iv never flashed one rom on this yet. If i download the stock LG G2 T MOBILE build and put it onto my phone. Will it remove the chinese super user/root off of it?
I can enter downloade mode so that is no problem.
Thanks again!
I just need my phone like it came from the manufacturer so I can start rooting knowing that there won't be issues in the future

i used that Chinese vroot program my self. i removed the chinese super user and replaced it with English one but im still concerned about my phone. not sure what to do and how. basically my first time of root aswell.

Is it possible to change a locked d802 rom to a open d802 if i root and flash?

So basically turning a provider locked phone into the european open D802?
edit: another question:
If i do a nandroid backup of my stock LG rom, is it possible to just do a nandroid back up, install stock recovery and basically "lock" the phone without the hassle of having to go through the longer "unrooting" guide?
thanks in advance!
It should be enough to follow the "back to stock rom" thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 , this will change the current rom with a stock LG rom using LGs own tools.
Partially no, it flashes based on IMEI region. You want to flash a EUA KDZ. Then disable OTA.
I apologize for the lack of knowledge. Ive flashed all my phones so far sgs 1, nexus 4, galaxy nexus, htc one x and what confuses me about this phone the most is the kdz files.
My phone, for example, is a provider locked d802 - provider being www.a1.net
(Austria)
Now i followed the link you showed me but it only shows me open european d802 and some from germany files fir download. Would it be safe to flash those when reverting to stock considering i have a d802?
If i want to flash my provider's rom, how do i go on to acquiring those files ? Just incase of phone issues and i have to send my ohone in. Would it be as simple as flashing my stock nandroid backup, flashing stock recovery and typing fastboot oem lock in cmd ?
Im sorry for all those questions, while im quite confident i would get it done, i just like to acquire the basic understanding needed before i start anything.
Not to say i dont understand the effort put together by those who made the threads (how to flash/revert to stock etc.) But the threads to a certain degree are limited to just a simple how to when they could maybe use a little bit more detail.
Thanks in advance guys! Looking forward to rooting this thing

If by unlocked, you mean allow you to put any Sim card in it and it work, no I don't think there is a way to make that work. Roms deal with a totally different part of the phone than the carrier lock. If you mean boot loader unlock, that would specific to your phone model and flashing one from a different model could do nasty things to your phone. I would suggest finding the exact forum for your phone model (I.e. at lg g2, international g2 etc).
They should have all the info you need, and to carrier/Sim unlock your your phone to use on various providers- I would Google "Sim unlock *insert phone name here*) and read through til you find a site that will work out.
Edit* I just saw your provider, u "should" have an international version and you should be able to easily bootloader unlock, root and flash the phone. Be sure to read carefully before attempting anything though.

Oh.. So although im provider locked and own a d802 i basically still have the international version and therefor should follow the d802 international guides/should be able to flash d802 roms?? I really apologize if my questions have been stupid so far. Just i am very cautious. Thanks a bunch though.
But can you answer thr nandroid part (in bold text) ? Basically reverting to stock with nandroid backup, flashing stock recovry und locking the phone in fast boot. Is this doable on the g2? Thanks a lot once again appreciate it

If you unlock your boot loader and install a custom recovery like clockwork mod or teamwin recovery you can then make a nandroid of the exact stock ROM to restore back to. Relocking the boot loader is separate but usually fairly easily done. More often than not, the steps to relock the boot loader are laid out in the same thread to unlock it.
Be very careful, most of the time, once you start changing things you NEVER EVER want to accept an ota update from lg until you return EVERYTHING back to stock.
My recommendation would be unlock, install twrp and flash a custom ROM. That way you won't ever be asked to do an lg update, and most custom Roms end up being as stable or more so than the software that came on the device to begin with.
Or to return to total stock easier, most phones have a "factory" image that flashes in Odin or some other similar software meant for that device. It will erase everything, remove root and relock the phone all at once I believe. Just remember to read everything at least twice, and try to totally understand exactly what you are about to do.

Unroot Verizon Galaxy S5

So I rooted my phone sometime ago and now I want to unroot it. I went through the SuperUser to unroot and it deleted SuperUser after it was "done". I installed a root checker and it said it was unrooted.
But when I restart my phone it still has the Custom lock key on there. Is there any way I can get it to remove that symbol?
Even though my device has that symbol is it still unrooted?
I even factory reset my phone and it was still there so I am running out of options. PLEASE HELP!
Thanks!
I'm on a Sprint version (G900P). So I can't speak to the exact ROM you need. But the trick here, is to use ODIN to flash the STOCK ROM that came with your device. I *know* there's one within these Forums. It's simply a matter of locating your Device/Carrier Forum, and picking the STOCK development category, to find the ROM you need. Then you simply follow the instructions for ODIN, to flash the [stock] ROM to your phone. While flashing most stock ROM's automatically wipe all the cache's, and stuff. DO make sure to do it [wipe] them PRIOR to flashing the ROM. This ensures the most uniform, and successful results.
Simply search the forums for "ODIN Tutorial". That should give you not only the HowTo, but also the WhereIs.

Best way to return phone to stock?

I got a new Galaxy S9+ yesterday and I am letting go of my old S8 but I would like to completely format it and return it back to stock first as I would like whoever takes it to be able to receive OTA updates and things like that.
I have TWRP and am running a custom ROM so I don't know how to go about it.
I found some update.zip files online which can be flashed from the SD card but I realized that they require a stock recovery.
Should I just download the latest firmware possible for my region from Sam-Mobile then flash it all in ODIN? And if so, do you have a tutorial or step-by-step guide on how to do it? I don't want to mess it up.
Thank you.

I would download firmware and flash with odin to return to stock.
How to use Odin can be found by searching on XDA or by doing a Google search.
It should be noted that since you have already modified your phone (TWRP/custom rom) you will not get OTA updates even reverting back to stock.
Also your Knox is tripped and can't be reset.
