Update information for Lollypop - Ascend Mate 7 General

I contacted getmobilephone via his website, and he has shared some information with me, regarding Mate 7 update.
It is expected to come in February, the Lollypop update.
Hope it will happen then, really want stable Lollypop.

Really good news.thank you for sharing!

Looking forward to lollipop also.. I hope in next month

Sorry but why we need 5 different lollipop threads?! Why should getmobilephone know when huawei will release lollipop?

I don't believe that

Lollipop will be available to Mate 7 at March 2015 in the Chinese Market only
International Lollipop will be Available June 2015

It might not be correct, but he is an distributor of Huawei Mate, and probably has connections with Huawei. I'd love it if he's right, if not well what can you do :/

Now it is february, still no leaks or anything regarding lollipop... ?

Why make this "lollipop" buttons when they do not aim to have the real lollipop ?
Mate 8 is just speculation no official confirmations... I want Lollipop now.. my device feel aged without it..
I also hope better performance also and battery life.. if Huwawei will be more popular I think updates are something that they can't ignore.. if there will be no lollipop in the next few months I will not buy a Huawei device again..I demand it..as simple as that..already when I bought it when it was news there was rumours about lollipop in Q1 2015..so I expect it very soon.

You can make your phone lollipop visually only..
Or you need Google phone like nexus if u like fast updates...
Huawei will update to 5.0 BUUT don't expect if will look lolipoppy.. It will STILL look EMUI 3.0..
Imagine 3.0 OFFICIALLY released just NOW in January..
phones are not even 4.4.4 but 4.4.2..

True. The phone already looks Lollipopy with the buttons and material design of emui 3.0 though they should upgrade so we get the full features of lollipop like screen pinning and others

It's to slow to be useful I do not use rh multitasking button cause it's not snappy enough

guys guys guys....the point of getting 4.4.4 or 5.0 is not to get the visual crap but to check how our phone is gonna behave on ART mode...

So do we know we are actually getting the update to lollipop? Enjoying the phone as it is but I think an upgrade will be good.

I hope you carry all these phone at once every day !

I don' t see all this necessity for Lollipop update, also because what e really use in our AM7 are the apks we install,..the menus and the other parts I don' t think we use so often.
Therefore Lollipop or Kitkat shouldn' t change the situation so much, as most of the users are writing.
What could be better, IMHO, should be: battery drain and radio signal stability/sensibility.
This is my opinion only.

Well if you don't see the need for lollipop update they don't update your device when it rolls out. I will update mine though.
It's not just about the apk installation as you call it. If it were, then why aren't you still using froyo or gingerbread? Why did you buy a phone running kitkat?

news on swedish sistes suggest we will get lollipop in may..this was from very reliable sources so...it is getting closer.. in the end of june would be bad.. may is ok..
I hope 5.1 not 5.0.. I think we have not waited all this time to get 5.0.. If they have waited for Lollipop to become "stable" and release with 5.0 anyway they have a very bad excuse..

In my experience with previous phones it has been pretty much the same.
LG G2.. was quite good software support with updates.
However I think this is totally google and android to blame, this is totally braindead how this works..
it must be easier for the manufactures to do software updates and not having to write everything from scratch...
when a new update is comming it should be a lot more easy to adapt it to the new software version..
The software updates is atleast ONE thing I like with apple...
But I doubt I ever buy an apple product though...

It was between LG -g2 and nexus 5 for me... When comparing the hardware the choice was easier.... the software in LG -g2 was very good. Very snappy phone.
Nexus 6 looks like **** too big...
FYI usually when people say its 5.0 or just lollipop without any extra proof or info they rather mean the latest version or that they simply don't know the version.
In the end. If the update sucks you go back to kitkat...

Lollipop 5.1 stock?

Sorry if this is duplicated question, I searched the forum but found nothing definitive yet.
Is there any information regarding the new official update to Lollipop 5.1 for Moto G 2014? (Preferably the XT1068 version, which is the one I have). I read on news that Moto G 2014 (and other models) were receiving the update because of that security bug, but haven't found any download for the new version so far... (maybe is too recent?)
Thanks in advance. Regards.
No. Motorla seems to do a soak test these days but there is no 5.1.x firmware out.
Thanks for the information!
Could we expect that this test will help us acquire it? I mean, the 5.0.2 for the XT1068 was also a soak test and we got it, right?

I'd say it's 99% certain that we WILL get 5.1.1 ... the only question is when.
My (wild) guess would be this year.
They have only sent out the standard survey-form which they do before every test but afaik they haven't actually started testing yet.
So, depending on when they'll actually start and how well the soak test goes it might be as soon as within 2-3 Months = probably this year.
(Again, just a wild guess and a bit of whishful thinking)

Seems like since the chinese bought motorola a lot has changed there...
Try Titan Prime 1.1.1 with stellar kernel 5.1,fast,stable and good battey stats.
It´s based on stock and my daily driver. But (yes) it´s based on #*+% android 5.0.2 not on.....you know.
maybe because lenovo have bought motorola.
sry for my english
Huh, I'll give it a try! cm12.1 is really buggy for me
Soak tests haven't been started yet, only forms have been filled.
Problem with Android is Google is releasing versions so fast, vendors do not have time to adapt each and every version (plus: why should they? they make no money out of it)
Maybe we will not get Android 5.1 on Moto G 2014 but Android 6.0 when it's released really soon.

They make no money but I think for many people fast updates are an argument to buy a device. And on the other side, if I was a vendor I would be very careful with the release of a brand-new firmware after the disaster with 5.0 and probably better come out with a stable 5.1.1 than a (eventually) buggy 6.0.

How may people do care about updated versions? Very few, really.
App updates? Sure. Give them new a new version of WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. Maybe even an enhanced camera app. But a new firmware? Very few people even know what that is.
So a device with guaranteed updates? Yes, there is a market for that: developers or curious people. And that's why the Google Nexus class of devices exists and sells well.
Yeah,these android nerds...?
What about security? I think that the best way is that the system gets update not depending from the manufacturer, like with the computer. Will be possible in the future of Android?

Will huawei upgrade it to Marshmallow??

Was wondering if Huawei has announced that they will upgrade Honor 7 to marshmallow. I have never used any Huawei device and am interested in Honor 7 so want to know how is Huawei in terms of SW upgrades etc. Does anyone in here has any experience of previous Huawei devices. I am really keen to know this as ROM development and SW upgrades are probably the most important aspects of a device's future.
Yes all Huawei flagships will get updated, while non flaships will get at lesser priority as well..
But they won't release as quick.. Rather depending on stability of the new android itself the update will delay and they will release it timed with release of their next flagship. So somewhere from January 2016 to May 2016.. That said, since Huawei is manufacturing this year's nexus things might be different.
As Warea said, we'll have the update.
I think google is going to surprise us with this new Android version, doing a global release for a lot of devices on Day 1.
Rumor says that Samsung has already the update ready for S6/S6Edge/Note4, .... And LG too. It's possible that this year, Google worked with manufacturers to make a global release for Android M because one of the things that Apple users are proud of is that every iOS device is updated at the same time with the same version. I think Google wants to fix that with Android.
We'll see !
is possible, but i doubt it, because on every android version, huawei must include emui new version, and they're veeeery slow making updates . honor 6 waiting lollipop yet in european version, and android m launches at end of this month...
no news yet on android 6, but the chinese editions of honor 7 are getting android 5.1 beta tests. http://cn.club.vmall.com/thread-4989272-1-1.html

If you look at last year most of phone brands were quick to announce upgrades to lollipop but they delivered only 2nd quarter of this year, while the few who updated quick were left with lollipop bugs.
I'm in no hurry to android 6 because many of the features are already on emui.. So I rather prefer a properly optimized and bug free update, plus significant changes on emui enough to make it feel like an update.
Honor 6
Let's look at the good, the bad and the horrible worst..
The GOOD -
good built up design and hardware
At good price...
Awesome high end specs
Smooth working never lags
Charges superfast..
It's been a year to own a huawei honor 6 and it's still the same as newly purchased.. Quite happy with the product and fully satisfied And I'm upgrading to honor seven.. Just go for it. N its the best available in the market at this stage
The BAD-
-NO SOFTWARE UPDATES needs some improvements in software but no updates provided in India secondly no OTA updates you need to stress yourself to know how exactly to download and install softwares.
-Delayed updates... We hear Google talking about Marshmallow where as lollipop is on the verge and honor devices still running on kitkat.. Yes, lollipop updates were provided to download and install but manually and bro it's time for marshmallow and we here were dying to receive lollipop (stable) yet..
-Indian versions are not provided with the features available to Chinese versions.. Not 64gb storage available no dual Sim available
-Cloud storage available only in China
For honor 7 I guess marshmallow would be available in next year Q1
The horrible WORST -
It's not at all a loyal brand
I can purely tag Huawei as "use and throw" device because,
-WORST customer service support
If anything happens to the device after purchasing it... You just need to dump it in the garbage bin (service centre) without having a hope of recycle and getting it back so just forget the past and look for a new one..
So if you wanna avoid such circumstances you got to handle with care
Else it works great smooth efficient.. User friendly... Great specs and awesome built..
So if you are a person frequently updating your handset go for it.. But if you are a long term user suggest you to go for some good branded devices..
Just my opinion.. And no offence meant.. Sorryyyy
My newsfeed showed me following page.

don´t know how credible this is and whether it also affects the other H7 versions.

What I feel is.. It's pointless in waiting for M update because it's skin emui 3.0 takes it all over the material design and I feel emui is awesome if they keep updating emui..

Sorry sir It may be nonsense for people having technical knowledge
And I'm sorry but I forgot to mention earlier that all the firmware updates were never officially by Huawei for "h60 L04" model (Indian variant) if you check out the official website of honor India there are no updates but when you check updates for Chinese model then you will find many software updates on their official site for honor 6 but none of them would end with model "h60 L04"
So on that part I told that there are no updates
Honor confirmed on twitter that the Honor 7 will be updated to 6.0 in Q1 2016.
Date not confirmed for the 6+.

I've put my name down (via Honor's PR agency), and once you give your IMEI you'll be sent an OTA update automatically once it's ready. I'll let you all know the progress, but believe there will be a requirement NOT to share the code with others so please don't ask me to extract the files and release the ROM.
Of course, I'm sure someone will...

I think it might be after seeing as most times Carl wont give a time frame it normally means ' you may be waiting a while.....'
I think its before OPO and OPT... :good: But I am expecting a bug free 5.1.1 at least
I'm not sure "soon" is the correct word as we still need a stable 5.1.1 first with, at least, the followings bugfix:
- Micro SD card issues
- Auto brightness issues
- Low video record framerate
- Wrong color calibration (8500k +)

Soon???
The time frame for OPO on Cyanogen and OPT is Q1 2016, and for OPX they didn't even announced a time frame yet... How can that be described as soon?
More rumours from phonearena
As for the OnePlus X, which is the newest among the three devices, OnePlus is already "working hard to bring Marshmallow" to it "as soon as possible" - this might mean that the update could be ready to roll out before the end of the year, though that's just our guess.
Bah, we'll see. Maybe instead of fixing all bugs they can save some time and roll out MM.

Call me a hater, but I'd rather downgrade to a fully working KK than be on a buggy LP and (probably) buggy MM.

Why not both?
I assume they go hard to push the release to marshmallow and maybe release a bugfixversion 5.1.1 ...

I wonder if there's any chance that somebody "back-develops" (if I may say so) any oneplus KK rom (from either the 1 or 2) for the x. Would be great.
I would assume that the first phone to get the upgrade would be the OP2 followed by OPX or OPO.
OnePlus would focus on rolling it out for their latest Flagship Killer which is the OP2

Did you get Oreo update already?

Googling about this topic, I can see expected release dates for U11 and U10, but not for U ultra... when the h*ll are they planning to deploy the OTAs? It's been seven months since Oreo went GA... the 2014 Nexus 6 I left behind two months ago, had a newer android version on it (7.0.1)... okay, it was a Nexus, but a 2014 one...
Cheers.
They said until the end of the month... We'll be waiting for another week at least...
Same Sh1t...Different Day.
Still waiting. End of February was muted about. So will have to be patient, normal for HTC software updates.??

can anyone provide a screenshot of the changelog?
which security patch level is it?
i know, the chances are minimal, but maybe someone could check treble support? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kevintresuelo.treble
thanks!
Screenshot or it never happened.
lots of people on the htc u ultra group on facebook have screenshots https://www.facebook.com/groups/1180454748729142/?fref=nf
