I bought LG G2 one month ago, and after coming from a phone like Xperia S, I'm quite happy with LG G2. Initially i wanted to buy nexus 5, but since there were no nexus left in any store, I went for LG G2. Which, in my opinion turned out to be better than nexus 5 (battery and screen size).
I have 2 complains regarding LG G2:
1. Having limited memory of 16 Gb really sucks, you only have 10 Gb available to use since system takes up to 5 Gb. I have to constantly keep deleting files in order to install a new app. I have 4 gb of music and large games, and there is no external sd card.
2. While playing high performance games, the phones gets really hot, up to 48 Celsius battery. You can feel the heat in the screen glass. I can't play large games without worrying about damages from high temp.
On the other hand, lollipop custom roms are really fast and extremely smooth. The speed never lets you down, is blazing fast, and gets the job done. Back camera is great. Battery is great, up to 5 days with 5 hours SOT (brightness 33%). Screen is sharp and big, although I wish it was a little bit brighter in maximum brightness.
In my opinion, yes, buy LG G2, it's the best phone for this price.

Mine has 32GB of storage. A lot of the custom ROMs are buggy though. If you are a flashaholic Nexus would be better.

If your a flashaholic go for the Nexus 5,
Anything else, the G2 is far far better. (I've had both.)

Yeah ..you should definately go for nexus. Lineups if you flash roms and etc more ..as bootloader is locked in lg g2 .... If you like features like ..ir booster and the lg interface ....as the battery is too so much. Better than nexus 5

Thanks guys for the info but i am still confused between these two phones .Any other phone that maybe i miss at this price range?

If you are a flashaholic you should go for nexus 5, otherwise g2 is your best option for that price. Although keep in mind that lg stock rom is good which may cure your flash addiction

Hei mate go for g2 i had the 2 phones but lg g2 is better

Agreed, Get the 32Gb version of the G2 and a case. Cases are cheap on Ebay and will save you the headache of screen replacement (although it is very easy to change).

HTC One vs LG G2?

I have an HTC One but my friend wants to swap for his LG G2, should I swap ?
Any help please
do it
the problem is that it is only 16gb and my htc one is 32gb
G2 only 16? well that made the decision a bit harder since its not expendable. If you don't use a lot of storage I would still do it. otherwise if you need extra space maybe its not a good choice
the g2 is a far superior phone - obviously the storage thing is an issue, but there is the possibility of using a device like this,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Decrescent-Connection-Smartphones-Tablets-Including-White/dp/B00AN4W268
or
http://www.meenova.com/
with a few 32gb mini SD cards to store movies etc.
Hands down to g2, great phone.
My G2 before was only 16gb and in 10 days use I realized that it doesnt meet my needs for storage, I also try to used OTG for movies and other things.
Such great phone needs atleast 32gb, recording a 1 minute video will take 150mb to the storage. Im also playing mc4 and asphalt 8.
So this phone is not for me and I really regret that the 32gb is not available here.

I have both phones and they both come in 32 gb. The G2 is better in every way but the build quality and the speakers.
Both excellent phones, speakers way better on the HTC One... Build quality is personal preference. Larger screen on the G2 while not being bigger (which is pretty amazing) and specwise the G2 wins as well. Camera, normally the G2 wins in bright shots but the One can take pretty sweet shots in darker settings which is where the G2 has major issues.
I am very tempted to swap and I have to let him know tonight as he can sell it to someone else
Some things to look at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s40pHPwUxbM
http://tech2.in.com/features/smartphones/grudge-match-lg-g2-vs-samsung-galaxy-s4-vs-htc-one/910618
the speaker on the HTC one is awesome, i have the device now and i'm having a hard time deciding, but battery is a big factor for me so the G2 win.. its whatever your needs is. gaming on the HTC one is not as good due to heat, I played asphalt 8 the graphic on g2 blow it away and it doesnt lag when it get hot.
as far as camera goes, when the HTC one get hot, the viewfinder will glow red (only in low light) not sure if it affect the pic, G2 camera handle the noise the best and very clear... I have no idea how some of the people in here can say the camera sucks...I'm a photographer and the noise handling is impressive.
There is no comparison buddy LG g2 is ages ahead!!!, my only trouble with the icons used in G2, beleive me if they would have used nicer icons, there is nothing to fault the phone
I had the One. Great phone loved it. Was really pissed when I broke it beyond repair. And that is part of the problem with the one. Their repairability outside of HTC with their "Special" tool is fairly non-existent.
The G2 is a great phone. I love it. It's repairability, on the other hand looks insanely easy. The back is pretty easily popped off (even found a replacement for sale already and it looks black instead of the Blue they call black..on the D800 att, anyway) and inside components are screwed down with eyeglass size screws.
Also, the flip case Rocks. I love it.
mind made up
Well guys i got my G2 today and all i can say is wow, the screen is a thing of beauty and the speed is mind blowing
I think i made the right decision
Thanks guys
ps... also already rooted it but just need to find a way of unrooting for warrenty
Just look around, there are some thread about reverting back to stock. Since you are rooted now you should try out either CleanRom if you are staying on stock firmware or there are already some really great AOSP based ROMs available. I am just running a basic CM 10.2 nightly right now and the battery life is awesome.
Had both phones. Get the G2. Sell the 16GB one for a premium on eBay then buy a brand New 32 GB one.
Done
The one was a good phone but the G2 is much better. The one has boom sound but that's it

[Q] G2 32gb vs Nexus 5 16gb same price

Hi all,
I'm new to all this so please bare with me a little bit. I've used apple products for many years, but in getting a little sick of iOS7 and the lack of jaibreak. So I've decided to make the leap to android (something I never thought I would do).
I have my choices narrowed down to the Nexus 5 and LG G2. Both phones at currently available for $99 on 2 yr term. The Nexus only comes in the 16gb version while the G2 is 32gb for the same price. I'm having a tough time deciding between the two. I like the Nexus 5 because it gets the OS updates fast and won't require removal of bloat. It's also unlocked.
The G2 seems to have a slight hardware edge with battery life, camera and screen size. It's also 32gb, but it's not stock android and is carrier locked.
My question is, given the same price for both, is it better to get the nexus 5 or get the G2 and use a custom rom to mimic the stock nexus 5? Will it be a hassle to keep the G2 updated, and how bug free would the experience be.
Thanks
SB

Exactly... hardware in the g2 is slightly better on almost every level exept for the hardware but that can always be changed with roms this is also why i am happy i just got the g2 and didnt wait for the N5 and im sure the majority of G2 users you ask on here will say the same thing...
G2 is better.
androidcentral made a good comparaison of both phones. you can see it just by typing "The Nexus 5 vs. the LG G2" in Google.

That's a good way to put it. I guess I'm trying to gauge how easy it would be to customize the G2. Also hoping KitKat is made available soon.
How much storage did your iPhones have? Was it sufficient for your needs?
I store a lot media on my phone and find 32GB to be a comfortable size, but individual usage should dictate.
I'm not familiar with the Apple ecosystem so I can't intelligently compare the experience with regard to bugs, updates, hacks, etc.
N5 vs G2 hardware comes down to screen size and battery capacity as far as I'm concerned. There are some minor differences with regard to camera performance, screen performance, and ergonomics. I believe either will end up being both bigger and longer lasting than iPhone, but how much bigger can you tolerate? The G2 is at the upper limit of what I, personally, can comfortably pocket-carry all day. The N5 has a bit smaller chassis, I believe.

If all I'm hoping to do is cut down on the bloat and just get rid of most of the theming PG did, would I have a tough time finding the software support and how buggy would it become?

I've always had 16gb iPhones, but lately I find that I'm trying to manage the storage a lot more.
My iPhones have always been stable, always works and never a problem. Jailbreaking and customizing it is also fairy easy. I have no idea what process for rooting and using custom roms for an android is like.
As someone said, the hardware is permanent. I'm leaning towards the G2 because for the same price I'm getting a lot more out of it.
CleanROM is all you would need. Since it's Stock Without the Bloat it's essentially bug-free.
I don't know how tough it is to jailbreak and maintain a hacked iPhone, but most any competent Windows user should be able to root and ROM either N5 or G2. If you can manually install drivers and aren't afraid of some cut/paste into command lines, you'll be region's in no time.

My logic was that I love AOKP roms.
If you throw AOKP on both phones.... which one would you prefer?
Nuff Said. Go with the G2.

The Test of Time?

Now that this phone has been out for over a year, does anybody have any complaints?
How's the battery life?
Has it, or does it ever randomly freeze?
Anything you hate about it now that you've been using it for some time?
Lastly, I found this phone and the LG Optimus G new for around the same price range, the Nexus 4 being around $20 more expensive. Aside from the removable SD card on the Optimus G and LTE support, and the potentially removable battery on this phone, are there any other differences? If you had a choice to go with either phone once again, and neither the SD card, LTE support, nor battery being an issue in making your decision, which would you go with, and why? I believe the only other difference would be the Android support, with the Nexus 4 running 4.4.2, and the Optimus G running 4.1.2.
In other words, my friend is stuck between making a decision between the two and doesn't know which to go with.
Thanks!
Dude they look like almost the exact same phone. The only difference I can see on GSM Arena is that the Optimus has a (market dependent) 13 mp camera vs Nexus's 8mp subpar camera. If it did have a 13mp camera I would get the Optimus. Otherwise as bad as I hate to say it I just can't make myself get another phone at this point. I realllly want an LG G2 but it's like having a car that's paid for that you've become comfortable with and you got it like you like it. Although there are other models that may be a little bigger and get a little better gas mileage and have the navigation built into the steering wheel. Lol. My phone gets phenomenal battery life, can be upgraded to 4.4.2. Will continue to get a fair amount of developer support. Has a super cool glass back. I mean I think it's a good decision. I would probably never get another phone if I had a better camera... Tough choice.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, they're essentially the same phone. That's the reason for the troubles, because the differences are so minor, I was just wondering if there was anything bigger than what was posted on a web a year ago.
If your friend doesn't care for LTE or more storage, then nexus 4 would be better. Running latest android version, lots of development support, looks fabulous with the glass back, running very smooth, battery is average but hey, this is a smartphone mate. of course it would gobble down battery fast (still I got almost 7 hours of sot with 22 hours of usage, not very average ain't it? ) But then, it depends on your friend, if he's not so much into rooting or updating android version, many of the nexus advantages would be nothing to him.
The screen will go at some point. Mine just did after 14 months. I was lucky. Some had theirs go funny at 6 months and LG refused to change the screen under warranty. My soft keys don't work in landscape. Only solution is a new screen. Save yourself the headache and buy something else.

Just to clarify, which screen will go out? The Nexus 4?

The performance and the display are excellent.
Battery life is ok.
But the LTE and the really bad camera make me consider an upgrade.
I would recommend to get a newer device.
About a year old now and this is still the sexiest phone. True there are better options but for the price it is still a tough one to beat. Zero issues with it, was my wife's at first, she broke the LCD a few months in (not the phones fault as she has broken half a dozen phones now) so she moved to wp8 (great for her) I took the n4 and swapped a new digitizer/LCD in it and it has been flawless for 8 months or so now.
I have played with a lot of the newer phones and this one still competes great, yes the camera could be better but for my purposes it is still perfect, oh and did I mention sexy as hell?

G2 vs Nexus 5 - wich one

Hey guyz i wanna buy one of this two phones and i was wondering what is your opinion and your suggestions?
I know that g2 is bigger have better camera and more battery life....but in other hand i heard that N5 is faster and that u can have better user expirience with it.
If they are the same price, deffo go for the G2. :highfive:
You can always hack the G2 to be nearly a Nexus 5. You can't hack the inferior battery and camera on the Nexus 5 to be nearly a G2. :crying:
On the Nexus 5, I'd typically get about 35 hours on battery until I was down to 10% remaining with about 2 hours of screen time. As we speak, my G2 has been on for 55 hours with the same amount of screen on time, but my battery is still on 48%. :victory:
Had 2 Nexus 5's replaced under warranty, 3rd one arrived and I sold it without even opening it. In the meantime I had my wife's G2 which is now mine She went back to Samsung (S4). I prefer the G2's software and battery life, the Nexus software didn't seem as smooth - despite it being stock Android.
That said, my G2 developed the screen issue (dead areas, locking up, selecting apps itself) so it's back at LG now - however I picked up a Huawei Honor 6 very cheap as a back up and I'm stunned how capable it is - could give the G2 a run for it's money.
I'm guess both of u are right...
Only thing that is missing on g2 is more developing and custom roms, otherwise u already said...:good:

Def. G2 due to the battery. From personal experience, Idle seems to be a lot better on LG software vs any aosp/kernel combo on N5.

Yes, the difference in the two phones is staggering. Coming from the Nexus 5, the battery on the G2 is like carring around a tablet.

G2 - Is it still a good option?

Hi,
I'm think about getting the LG2 D802. I know it's getting older - but I was looking for the following things, and after some research G2 seems like a good condidate:
- I'm not looking for something super new and expensive. As I use the phone for calls, reading eBooks while on the bus and sometimes playing a casual game. I like the screen-size.
- My previous device was HTC One X which had excellent screen with great colors. This is somehow spoiled me, and when screen quality is poor - I can see it easily
- Comes good out of the box - I used to play around with Android devices - Root them, Install custom ROM. But I don't have too much time for this those days. I heard the G2 have a decent stock rom without too much vendor junk on it.
My other option was G3, but at least from older posts, the G3 seems to have battery issues and getting warmer more often. I saw some benchmark showing the G2 being faster on menu navigation. Is is still true for those days? or the G3 problem has been fixed and I should go with it instead?
Also - I saw a friend phone with 4.2.2 and it works pretty good. I heard the 5.0 updates has some memory leaks and other issues alike? the 5.1 fixes those?
Thanks!
The phone is prettt great. But from personal experience i would not go back because of screen problems. I had a dead zone and ghosts touches. And from what i know it cannot be fixed.
Its is amaizing fast amaizing camera and still fast.
But beware of that screen problem that some people deal with including me.
The nexus 6 is a great option its going to be my next phone.

Ermm. I wasn't aware of screen problem. How much time you own the phone? Does it happen on all models? Im planning to be D802ץ
I had it for six months.
Like i said it is an amaizing phone. But it has that one flaw. I had it on d80020y. Then updated to d80030f. But this seems to affect all models regardless of firmwire.
It doesnt matter if you never rom or root.
Research a little bit and you will see what i am talking about.

Hi,
I have my second G2 after I broke my first one. I liked it so much, I got a new (used) one. I don't regret it! Especially when I consider the stuff what you can do with it, custom tom, this, that... I I were you I'd buy the G2 and tweak it a little bit...
Never had any screen problems! Neither with the old phone not with this one...
Still good and enugh for you.
Best advice:
Go back and read our older posts from 2 years ago when the phone was new.
Now read some of the current posts from the people who still have the device such as myself.
Long story short, there's a reason why alot of us early adopters held onto our G2s without a need to upgrade.
Its that good
new or used?
If new, there are so many other better phones to be had. I would much rather get a 2014 moto x, a nexus 5x, a oneplus x, or a used iphone 6. While the g2 was/is a fantastic phone, it does have it's shortcomings - plastic and mediocre feeling build quality(compared to the moto x, oneplus x, and iphone 6), glossy back, non-conventional button placement, camera has poor dynamic range, no marshmallow update...
If used, the g2 can be a fantastic deal if you can get it cheap enough. The only thing to keep in mind is that the battery seems to only be good for 1.5-2 years max. Also, buying a 2+ year old used phone is inherently risky and it may or many not be 100%. I bought one in seemingly mint condition for $100 not too long ago and the battery had only 50% capacity. Also, the plastic back cover is creaky which is kind of annoying - this is a common complaint.
If you don't have a super tight budget go with one of the aforementioned newer, more premium phones. You will be MUCH happier.

Still a good deal, phone is smooth as hell, the display is beautiful, the sizes are perfect (it has almost the same sizes as my 4.7" Nexus 4), if you can get a cheap one then go for it. Never had screen issues and I've been flashing things (that's when it gets really hot and screen problems can come out).

If you're buying it new and at a good price, you're getting a very special phone.
I just ordered two new batteries and some new casing - I'm going to keep this phone forever. It's already two years old.
No phone I've had has been better.
One thing. Don't get the 16gb. It's just too small now, your won't last a year more. It has to be the 32gb.
And don't bother with the G3, the battery will kill you.
Fantastic phone. I have the D801 (T-Mobile) version, and it has been problem - free from the start. Also have a Moto Maxx and a One M9, but if I could only keep one phone, I would actually choose the G2. It does everything well, and I haven't yet found a shortcoming.
Buy it!
I got my G2 D802 for £110 (brand new) on eBay (search it) . And God, it was was worth every penny. I think that unless you want a 64bit (slower) new processorprocessor, there is no reason to buy the newer budget phones like the Motorola Motor G, which are rather cheap quality with lower res screens, fatter bodies and not as good battery life.
Buy the G2, it's perfect in every way except for lack of SD card which is only a problem to some people. Also, you want to check out my review on my blog, interestconcentrated.blogspot.com/2015/09/week-2-with-g2.html. I bought less than two months, so it's very relevant. Hope it helps! ☺
Also, you might wanna check out the G3 on Ebay, it's available for £155
The default firmware sucks as it's poorly designed/ugly/slower than a custom rom like AICP. Really happy with the phone, my s3 sucks in comparison and the buttons are well placed on the g2. Only pitfall is battery life on a non-stock rom, marshmallow may fix that
Ive had the phone for about 16 months. Working perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with the phone. D802 also.
Pros -
Great screen
Great battery on Jellybean and Kitkat
Lg doesnt have too much bloatware
Sound output is best
Perfect size
Can run pretty much every game without lag
Cons -
Battery life is reduced on lollipop 5.0.2. We don't have a 5.1.
Camera is decent, nothing special.
If you do get the phone, i recommend flashing Cloudyg2 2.2. Not 3.3 which is lollipop. Just leave it at that.
Thanks everyone for your help! I think I'll be grabbing the G2. I might root it later on, but for now - it seems like a better idea is to stay on 4.2 and avoid upgrading to 5?
Thanks!

Keep your eyes on the forums as well.
Last week I saw an update for my G2 while I was in the process of repairing my screen.
I didn't download it but my guess is its 5.1.1 for Tmobile.
I've heard 5.1.1 fixed alot of Lollipop issues for Android in general.
If and when D802 gets this version I'd recommend you investigate and see if it may be a good stock ROM to use.
Also if you ever need to replace the battery in the future, don't fret. Its very easy process and takes 15-20 minutes
The upside is amazing battery life again just like brand new

Yes, stay on 4.4.2 20H firmware if you want to run stock. Disable all the bloat, use a different launcher and your good to go. :victory:
Just remember that all the Nexus 5.0.X firmware still had the memory leek. LG may have sorted it for there 5.0.2 but I wouldn't put money on it.
Hi, i think Lg G2 is still worth it, i bougth mine 4 months ago, and i am really happy with it.
It is fast, has Lte, a nice camera, despite it is a medium-bad camera at low light places.
I spent 250 euros on a promo. It was a nice deal i think
After i bougth it i flashed CM 12.1 eheh
I hope i could help!
