Simple Commuter modification for local and Zulu time - Zooper Widget Templates

Here is a mod of the Commuter built in template that I find useful if you need to know Zulu time.
Probably not as elaborate as most, but simple and clean.

Standalone Youtube Client

This is a thread to gauge interest in a standalone Youtube, and eventually other videosite client. I currently have a version that searches YT and pulls results(it's fugly, to put it politely), and will try to get an alpha by next week.
Currently, the only workaround is to have the "flashvideobundle" and TCPMP installed, and my app calls PIE....ugh!, but I can work that out eventually.
Will anyone be interested in such a client?
EDIT: Here are the basics:
1. It will be able to search Youtube for any videos WITHOUT going through PIE, which I find a huge hassle.
2. Media playback will be through TCPMP/Coreplayer. No need to reinvent the wheel.
3. I've taken a fresh look at the Youtube APIs, and currently there seems to be no way to bookmark video, favourite them , or add comments from the PPC, but you will be able to retrieve your profile. As i said, this is a big WHEN. Maybe I'll find a workaround.
yes, I am interested.
What launguage will you use? c#?
Super interested! This is the one missing app holding me back from picking the MDA as an upgrade to my old XDA.
And this is the page that just got me to join this site.
While I'm all for developers making their own work, sometimes its easier to help a project move beyond what has already been done.
Take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328497
Maybe you can join the development team? I'm not sure about their overall goals or objectives.
If not, then go ahead and develop your own, there is always room for alternatives =)

Interesting link btw, and quite a nice beta they have up.
Er, my proposal is kinda different.
1. It would be (almost) middleman free, whereas the Avotmv would pass through a server.
2. I plan to eventually add userprofile support, as in look at the bookmarks you made on the PC, yadayada....eventually
3. I plan to throw the works to the public once I feel that it's 90% complete, sort of a Open-source thingy.
4. I'd like some sort of choice the masses would have, aka my client vs. Avotmv.
@the guy who asked if it was in VC#
No, not yet. The internals are in VB.NET
Please note: This is not going to be a iClone software. I will try to keep it simple and to the point. Right now, the GUI looks like Windows95, but hey, it works.
A good idea to support user profile. Allow to add commemt and browse comment.

can you take some screenshots??
Not atm,
but I will try and get some (proof?) by Saturday
As of now, coordinating school and programming is a bit iffy
watch this space/
Definitely interested.
Sounds good. I'll be watching this thread.
I would be interested if it was truly standalone like www.vtap.com or http://avotmedia.com/
I'd defenitely love to see something like this.

WOW Online Kitchen Needs host!

This would be flippen AWESOME with a few more options etc. People can COOK roms from a web browser no need to install anything!!!! AMAZING
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722405
this would be awesome for the Evo; it would really be custom roms for each individual user
thanks for catching this.
im doing something similar for the evo, but its in a very alpha stage and ive kinda hit a few snags holding me up because HTC design is different than the previous phone we designed the kitchen for (samsung moment).
i posted in that thread and offered to help. it'd be great to work together to create an amazing online kitchen for the EVO!
good find and thanks for the link!
more info on my alpha - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700621
For a sample of joey's kitchen http://www.sdx-downloads.com/custom/
Problem with Kitchen's are they use a TON of bandwidth....

supposedly, yes.
from the hosting point of view, an online kitchen requires quite a bit of bandwidth and some cpu time in moving all the files into a .zip to be flashed.
my first host ended up suspending my account and my 2nd host has been much better. definitely a factor to consider when people are looking for a host to accomplish this type of task.
Theres always considerations just make sure whoever volunteers considers them all lol.

Graphics Designer Needed. Any amount of experience welcome!

Hello! Thanks for stopping by! I'm making an app with a friend of mine and we both are terrible at making graphics (we both code). The game is a simple dice game yet what sets it apart from other dice games is online play and a level of polish above the rest. Our code is pretty polished, even in its humble beginnings, so we are looking for a graphics designer who is willing to help show to users a polished interface.
We don't care how much experience you have as long as you're willing to learn (we can't teach you though obviously). The only thing we ask for is that you give at least 3 hours a week to the project. I believe that is not a lot to ask for. We are doing this project as a hobby and we hope to add another member (or two) to our team. Once again thank's for your time.
If you would like to know more about the app please post in the thread so other people can benefit from the information and if you have more personal questions feel free to PM me.
I'm actually interested. if it's not too time consuming I will gladly give it a try.
you can take a look at my deviant art profile to see what graphic works i normally do
http://aoisora9x.deviantart.com/
send me an email @ [email protected] if you want to contact me.
i do lots of traditional paper and pen design then move it over to digital paint.
let me know if you need some help and what your ideas and i'll toss up a few test designs you can look over.
i do very little in terms of actual 3d renders and modeling.

Nice Deadmau5 head
not hijacking, but it'd be really cool to see resources designers kicking around here make. which could then be used in projects by devs. just putting something out there will encourage others to use it. ie. icons and so on.

The only problem with that is that some people don't like other people to use their work. It's the same thing with code (i.e. open source or not). In any case it would be better to submit work you would like to share on Open Clip Art instead of a thread that would be hard to upkeep and search through.

The time it will take depends on you're proficiency with creating buttons backgrounds and stuff like that. Right now I have three people that want to work on this and I always had in mind to have different themes for this app. I'm going to ask Aoi_sora9x if he won't mind other people making other different themes. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

i thoroughly disagree! so if a designer didn't want to share, they're not forced to post whatever they've made on here. and as xda is a large community, you never know who could be reading about your work. maybe a new forum would be best.
I think the main reason is that XDA is a developer forum and not a designer forum?
artists and designers mostly will post on art forums, like how developers will only share stuffs on developer forums. When i wanna share a new icon set, XDA is not the first place i would think of. :/

True. The new forum idea has potential.
I would like to try that, too..

Otterbox :-)

I emailed a P.R at otterbox about cases and they responded saying
Hello! Thank you for your interest in our product! Unfortunately,we do not have any information ifthis particular case will be made at this time. I have put in a product suggestion on your behalf, and recommend keeping an eye on our website, as well as, becoming a fan of ours on Facebook. It will have the most up to date information on any new releases that we may have. Additionally, here is a link to a surveyyou can take regarding new product suggestions if you would like to take a few minutes to fill it out: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/OtterBoxCustomerService_CaseTiming I can let you know that I received a similar request for this yesterday… the more requests we get, the better!
Lets all submit so we can get a really durable case
For now I went with a Full body Invisible Shield protector!
The Acer case is nice, it's not an Otterbox, but it provides some protection.
Anything new, it has been so many months, yet Otterbox has not produced a case yet for the Acer A500.
I just contacted them as well. Hopefully we can get one.

I e-mailed them a few days ago and got the same response. Iconia isn't getting any love.

Wow sounds like the exact same e-mail response for a defender case I was asking for if they had plans to make.

Case4Glass

Hey guys, so this is not my project but I really would love to see it get funded. Anyway, it is a simple case for Google Glass. the bag given by Google is nice, but just not very practical, personally. This, however, looks very nice and should protect nicely.
Mod Edit: Sorry kickstarter links violate xda rules.
Take a look, maybe pledge.
