Using PhilipZ Recovery - Redmi Note Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I try to install a new rom using PhilipZ recovery, the process stopped half-way with error message like 'no binary file or something like that'
I've rooted the phone which is a LTE 4G.
Anyone can help please? Thanks.

Maybe try using TWRP or get a fresh download of Philz and reflash

Problem when updating in hboot

When running the "all-in-one" sprint lovers PC36IMG In Hboot, it starts the update but when it gets to "system" i keep getting a Fail-UZ. Now i cannot restore my previous roms and the phone will not boot. Help.
everything else updates ok.
I have tried redownloading and keep getting the same error. Image unzip failed. I have also tried using the PC36IMG from clockworkmod zip and now i am getting the same error using that file. I have tried doing a recovery with nandroid and get MD5 checksum difference and cannot recover my backup. I have also tried installing you rom from the zip file and get something along the line of E:/ error line 8..... I have only been able to reflash the myn-OTA_Supersonic_3.29.651.5-DEODEXED rom and that is now unstable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Anybody
have any suggestions
Are you downloading from your phone?

no, thru my computer. I am now unable to load any rom at all.
OP, are you using this:

or this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786589
If one fails, try the other. Another suggestion to get you back to square one is to use the RUU file located below

Good Luck!
I've tried all of those and nothing seems to work. I guess im sol at this point.
Did you do a wipe of all the caches when you did the install? That seems to have helped others.

[Q] Problems loading from clockworkmod

Hey everyone,
I just loaded the latest tranquility and im loving it. i have a question though. ive been trying to load some custom tweaks, themes (specifically Gala X Theme 1.6.1) from clockworkmod and when it reboots to load the "rom" I get the Exclamation point/android icon. i click the home button and what it says, right after verifying update package..., is e:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (invalid argument), E:signature verification failed, installation aborted. i can then reboot into tranquility. Am i doing something wrong here? Thanks in advance! Also, off the topic of clockwork, is there any way to set your own sounds for notifications?
Probably what's going on is you're not booting into clockwordmod. Sometimes the bootstrapper doesn't take. Try re-running the bootstrapper and then trying again.
You might also try re-downloading the file if that doesn't work after retrying the bootstrapper.
Its rebooting into clockwork recovery. At least that's what it says on the top of the screen. I also have bootstrap. I tried to install the package manually from clockwork recovery and it said e:signature verification failed. I know you can either boot into bootstrap recovery or recovery using clockworkmod. Would trying to install from bootstrap recovery change anything? Basically what I've been doing is going into clockworkmod, download rom section, download what I want, tell it to install and it fails. Also can I install these mods/roms Manually? Im still learning btw so thanks everyone for their help!
Try using the bootstrap recovery option in bootstraper then going to rom manager and downloading it and installing, seems like you have to hit the bootstrap recovery after every reboot

thanks guys! i ended up getting it to work. i just loaded the roms manually by booting into recovery using bootstrap instead of trying to do it automatically with clockworkmod rom manager. i probably shouldve mention rom manager up there cuz thats the program i was actually having trouble with. so i got everything i wanted installed manually and estoy happy! thanks guys for your replies and help!

Getting ClockWorkMod to work

Hi Folks,
I'm trying to get clockwork installed on a rooted stock firmware vibrant for a friend. Using ROM manager i've tried to install CWM and it says it is successful, however after trying to reboot into recovery and choosing re-install packages I get these errors:
E:Failed to verify Whole File Signature
E:signature verification failed
Installtion aborted
I tried flashing Vibrant (MTD) Clockwork Recover 3.x from ROM manager but it does the same thing.
Also tried the AIO tool from the sticky in the dev section and it doesn't work either. I chose the custom ROM but it doesn't push it to the phone or reboot it into recovery. (The install drivers option gave me a windows unhandled exception error)
I downloaded Heimdall but am not sure how it's used, can it flash any ROM or only specially formatted ones?
I've been searching these forums for a few days now and finding so much new and old processes to do things and I'm not very familiar with Samsung phones so any help is appreciated. Thank-you.
Re-Root it
Re-root the phone using One-click, when Baywolfs fails, one click always does it because it push's it through using ADB
CWM wont work unless the phone is proper ROOTED, youll know when its done right, cause youll see the super=user App after your done

After that, un-install Rom manager, then re-install it, then while your connected to WIFI or provider, make sure you flash CWM recovery,
Re- download the ROM again, but dont open it!!
Then when you are ready to flash that ROM as a zipped file, DO NOT open it [ meaning UNZIP] or you'll continue to get the signature error.
Then either flash using reboot into recovery or install using CWM option of sd card install, either or works!! .
Are you having trouble getting past the stock 3e recovery? I've been trying to get past it for a few days but have been poking around learning the in/outs of this. I have not yet gotten Rom Manager to properly flash CWM Recovery... the stock 3e is stubborn. Once CWM recovery is done, your options open up for backups, restores and installing some custom roms.
I don't know what the solution is but I'm still looking around.
Hope this was on track...
Its stuborn in the sense its picky about free space. You'll need to free up some room in order to use CWM. Reference this thread for guidance -

Cant install recovery image?

So ive spent hours trying to install custom ROM but when i install a recovery image using recovery manager, it says recovery unrecognized. Can anyone please help?
I have gen 1 zte blade and want to install swedish spring. I need latest recovery image and recovery manger please.
1 which version of your installed recovery? old version, especially older than 3.0, may get incompatible with your image file. you can install the app ROM Manager, and from which to reinstall the latest version of Clockworkmod Recovery. of course, root is required.
2 you've verified MD5 of downloaded image file? plz do verify and confirm its match. corrupted file may fail to flash, or even brick your phone.
3 plz give more detailed info if keeping install failed .

Click to collapse
Try to boot into the recovery, it should work.
Ive tried both
RecoveryManager_v0.36b
RecoveryManager_v0.37b
and i am using the image file
recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.8-blade-gen1
Most of the time the recovery manager app would not open so i have to uninstall it and re install it, or even factory reset phone and wipe sd card for it to work, and it never recognizes the image file.

[Q] Can't flash recovery zip

Hi,
I'm at my wits end. I had SlimRom installed for a week and all was fine, but I was curious about what new ROMs were out there so I backed up my phone using ROM Manager and did all the usual stuff to get a new ROM. I installed Gummy, but didn't like it; I installed one other ROM that I can't remember its name, but also didn't like that. I realized my comfy home of SlimRom was where I wanted to be, so I tried to flash the backup.zip that I had created but it kept saying installation aborted (Status 0).
After hours of countless attempts and just weird behaviour (sometimes boot loops, sometimes not booting into recovery, etc.) I finally got my phone back to stock.
I downloaded the latest SlimRom file 3 times to make sure it wasn't a corrupt zip (twice from my PC and once from my phone directly). Both the zip directly from Slim as well as the backup.zip that I made with ROM Manager give me the same installation aborted. The other error it gives is "E: Error in /data/media/0/slim....zip". I'm wondering if somehow my partition is screwed up. I tried using Odin's repartition, which just erased my recovery partition, but I got that back thankfully! When I wipe data/factory reset it says wipe complete (and the ROM does reset to factory) but it also says "E:unknown volume '/sdcard/.android_secure' "...I'm wondering if that relates to why the backup.zip file won't read properly. Maybe the partition got screwed up somehow?
I can flash a SU zip so it's not a flashing problem, per se. And thankfully Odin always works!
I think I may need the stock PIT file for the Telus S4 l337m, which I found but my phone says "secure check fail: pit"
I'm not sure where to go from here...
Rom manager is your problem. That software I'd waaaaay out of date and rarely ever works on newer phones.
Get you goo manager. Allow SU. Then hit the menu button and then hit install openrecoveryscript. You will get TWRP recovery. Then you follow the OP of your ROM of choice to install.

Thanks for the suggestion. I used Goo but it was no help. I can flash other ROMs fine. It seems to be just SlimBean that I can't flash :s. I've used TWRP recovery as well as CW and neither work.
Any other ideas?
This is a pickle I am completely unsure about, then... I am sorry I can't be of more assistance. It does seem like the partition is borked.
