Bluetooth Issues after Sixaxis app - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm rooted and everything was going fine. I installed Sixaxis and was playing around with some emulators. When I disabled Sixaxis, it said it was restoring previous Bluetooth state. When it stopped, my Nexus Player remote wasn't working, so I went to Bluetooth devices and it wasn't listed. I clicked on Bluetooth to pair it again, but now the Nexus Player doesn't detect any Bluetooth devices (tried my phone and keyboard). Restarting the device still doesn't fix the issue so I'm now stuck with no Bluetooth devices being able to pair. Any ideas? I don't want to wipe since I just got Kodi all situated. Thanks

Yeah, the solution for me was to factory reset. You will have to use some other input method, since you can't pair via Bluetooth. I think what happened is the Bluetooth was turned off and there is no way to turn it on in the Nexus firmware.

I had that happen also. Needed to factory reset. Then I did it again and it has been working great

I was thinking it was stuck also. So before I wiped, I figured to try turning Bluetooth off/on from terminal. That seemed to do the trick! Both devices showed back up under Bluetooth.
I used commands:
su
service call bluetooth_manager 8
then
service call bluetooth_manager 6

I'm having a similar problem after attaching a bluetooth dongle via USB OTG in an attempt to pair a SixAxis controller. Unfortunately doing so seems to have somehow bricked the internal bluetooth. I'm no longer able to pair anything, and attempting to do so just results in it the bluetooth service freezing and restarting. Even a full factory reset and reflashing the factory image I haven't been able to fix it. Does anybody have any idea what it could have possibly done that would persist even after restoring the factory image?

So this worked? Were you able to gain control of your remote again after this?
If so, would you be so kind as to explain how you entered the commands you listed? I'm a bit confused as to where you entered them.
On your computer using ADB/Fastboot or using the Terminal App? A small step-by-step would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Nevermind. I got it to work using the Terminal Emulator App directly on the device.
Those two calls brought the remote back Definitely deserves a sticky!

Would it be easy to make a script/Tasker app to do this right from the Sideload Launcher? I'm pretty new to tasker and can't figure out how to do command-based tasks.

I am having the same issue and looking into how to run these commands? Did you install an SSH terminal app on the NP? If not, what does "Ran it from terminal" consist of?

I figured it out. I installed Terminal Emulator for Android via the Google Play Store (web browser version) and selected Nexus Player, since it is supported. Then ran the commands listed.
Everything works like a charm now. I can switch between remote and PS4 remote with no issues.

Sixaxis issues connecting
I have sixaxis installed and was working like a charm, then out of nowhere the PS3 controllers no longer connect. The lights keep flashing and the nexus player doesn't find them.
Thoughts? Solutions? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried going through the pairing process again? Sounds like they are unpaired. If you go to settings, can you see the device still paired? If you do, try removing it and then go through the pairing process again.

This happened to me also. I was able to reset the PS3 controller by briefly pushing and holding a paper clip in the small hole near the top-right corner of the label on the back. After I did that, I followed the instructions in the video at https://youtu.be/EKzwzlH1WAU and I'm happy to report that my PS3 controller works wirelessly again with my Nexus Player.

Thanks for this. It heller me alot.

Bluetooth File Transfer

So I just wanted to drop a line and let you all know that Bluetooth File Transfer from the play store works great for transferring files from your phone/tablet to the Ouya. Just pair your phone with the Ouya and you will be able to push files to the ouya.
I used this to push repo files for use with xbmc. I have several paid services that are not included in the xbmc wizard install. Now all my add ons are installed and I am a happy man.
Hope this helps some other lazy person who didn't want to side load files

I was trying this (for other reasons) and my phone (Galaxy S4 with the newest CM) would not pair with the OUYA. They saw each other even gave me the pair dialog to match the numbers, but wouldn't actually pair. I don't know if others are having the same problem
I am using an S4 with the Google Edition ROM. Pairs fine at least for the file sharing purpose.

Perhaps you can check a2dp with ouya ?
I've opened a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343608 but people seem not to use Bluetooth for audio.
Can you tell me if after having paired your S4 with ouya you can send audio to it via Bluetooth ? Is it played back on speakers connected through hdmi?

I have a rooted verizon galaxy S5 (towelroot) and cant get my ps3 controller to work with sixaxis controller app. I dont have the usb wire(USB OTG) that connects from the phone to the controller so i used the sixaxis pair tool that you download from there website. does it say that the pairing tool should allow you to play with a Wireless PS3 controller if paired?

the compatibility checker says it should work.. i think hes just havin trouble since he cant figure out the pairing tool (is required step) which you plug ps3 to pc run the tool n change the address to the one the sixaccess apk tells you to set it to on phone and then you pair them up wirelessly via bluetooth..

Yes...I'm using the correct wire to pair(change bluetooth address) on my pc to the controller but you can also use your phone to do the same thing by using a special wire(USB OTG) just in case you don't have a pc. There's tutorials on you tube that I followed and they talk about doing both ways just in case you don't have the right stuff. I'm using the pair tool correctly, that's the easy part, it's the sixaxis app that is giving me trouble. I'm just thinking that the touch wiz on the S5's or somewhere along those lines is giving the app problems. It would be cool if someone can try it on there S5 then reply the results. Thanks.
This is the error
No controller found-please connect it via USB cable
I'm having the same problems. Emailed the Dev without reply so far. I read others are having the issue with the S5 as well but that it works on 4.4 on other devices.
Ok cool thanks for the reply. I emailed the dev also with no reply.
I had this same problem and solved it by flashing the XtreStoLite rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732110
Now Sixaxis controller connects to PS3 controllers and recognizes the input.
I had the same issue with my att gs5 active. What I've found to work is reboot the phone. As soon as it boots go into the sixaxis app and hit start and hit the sync button on the controller. If it connects things are looking good but your not done yet. Wait about a minute or two and chances are the controller will disconnect. Then I hit stop and wait for it to finish (while your waiting hit the PS sync button on the controller) then as soon as you can hit start go ahead and hit it within a couple seconds. The controller should sync again and stay synced this time. I've even hit start then hit sync and that worked too. If you disconnect the app or do a step wrong you just have to restart and start over. I've played for an hour or two straight.

WHY DOES THAT WORK?
I allways want to find out why things dont work, but this is just laughable: restart phone, connect, get disconnected, stop server, start server, connect again.
If somebody could explain why that works id be really happy.
Also thank you SO much to give me (and all the others) that solution!

Problem with SixAxis app...

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I searched all over and couldn't find anything.
I'm having a problem keeping my WIFI connection when using the SixAxis app. It only stays connected for a minute or so and then goes back to LTE. And it won't connect back to WIFI until I disconnect from the app and turn on airplane mode or reboot.
Also, I'm able to connect and use my Dualshock 3 controller, but it doesn't connect to Bluetooth.
I'm running Resurrection Remix v5.2.9(LP 5.0.2) on my D800, if that helps any.
Thanks!
Are you saying that it's working with cable but don't work with Bluetooth? Did you used the SixaxisPairTool to pair your controller with your phone?
And I also have too that problem with WIFI, maybe it's a bug on Android L.

It's connected wirelessly via Bluetooth, but it shows that Bluetooth isn't on when connected.
Yeah, it doesn't show that Bluetooth it's opened, but the app works well. I use a Dualshock 3 with ppsspp emulator and it's work great except those 2 bugs, I didn't even noticed that bug with Bluetooth until you said . As I told, maybe those bugs are only on Android L and they will be fixed

Yeah, the WIFI thing is annoying because you can't play N.O.V.A.'s multiplayer on data.

Like, turn on Bluetooth, turn on the controller, and then pair them.
Every time I try, it says "invalid code". Or something along those lines.

Unable to pair Nexus Player remote

I I know this has been asked to death already.. I'm sorry.. But I can't seem to pair the remote! Nothing came up automatically as it did in Stock to pair. And home + back button isn't working. How can I enable it without another device? Any ideas? Thanks!
I've tried factory reset, no go. It won't even reset my OS. It'll be exactly the same. Straight to home screen, no prompt to set up.
I've tried using that remote app, but that requires the two devices be connected on the same network, which isn't something I can do. I have absolutely no control over the player.
The remote works. I can pair it to my S3 and it'll work nicely. I can't get the NP to appear as a Bluetooth device. I think that might be the issue. Help!
I just reflashed and got the same thing. Bluetooth doesn't seem to work.. Flashed stock and got remote access back. Flash custom, lose it completely.

Android TV Remote Control Can't Connect

Need some advice please...been trying to connect my LG G4 to my Nexus Player via the AndroidTV Remote app and haven't had any success.
I've tried connecting via WiFi and BT but neither work. I can see the device, but upon attempting to Connect via WiFi the screen pauses like it's trying to start a connection, but flickers back to the device list.
Trying via BT pairing I can connect my phone but the App won't launch (even with phone WiFi turned off).
Any suggestions here? The only thing I haven't tried doing is taking my old Logitech Revue off the network to see if there's perhaps some interference with the AndroidTV connector.
Doesn't look like anyone has experienced this issue, on the forums -- would definitely appreciate help as the Nexus Player on-screen keyboard is terribly slow!
Thanks.
Bump!
Same issue here with my Nexus 6p and Nexus player....
