Yes, with root you can use

LoL
YOLO. im new here

The Moto X app is just for charging which I can usually tell because the phone had a cord sticking out of it which leads over to a power outlet. I would love to get working led notifications though, IMO the Moto setup looks great on a video but in practice it works poorly compared to double tap and led notifications.

Display color dull, not vibrant enough

Hi, i just upgraded from moto X 2013 to moto X Play. Screen is a huge different. i feel it a bit bright and color is a bit dull, not as vibrant as on my 2013 moto X. Is it a problem ? should i take it back to the manufacturer ? Is IPS LCD screen on moto X Style the same if i switch to X Style .
Did you try changing the display settings to ambient display

There's only two options under "Colour Mode" (in display settings) 1.Regular 2.Vibrant
If that doesn't work then your out of luck as far as settings go.
Personally I hate the Samsung over exaggerated colours that they pass off with their OS as being lifelike but each to his own.

Ambient display instead of Moto Display

I actually kind of like Moto Display, but I found the following interesting post on the Moto X Pure forum, and it also works on our Droid Turbo 2 models to allow use of Marshmallow's Ambient Display implementation if you prefer it to Motorola's Moto Display feature.
No root required!

Basically, you go to the app manager in settings, make sure the menu option to show system apps is enabled, scroll down to the Moto Display app and disable it.
After doing this, the option to turn on Ambient Display will appear in the settings under the Display category.
This worked perfectly on my Droid Turbo 2 running Marshmallow.

You can also do this in the Moto app

Ambient display drains battery on mine and is too dark indoors.

Moto display

I miss moto display so much. Has anyone been able to port out the motorola active display app for other phones? Anyway to replace the google ambient display with motorola?
Ive tried Notific, acdisplay, dynamic notifications, glimpse and they're all buggy and none of them work as well as moto display.
Is there any alternative apps out there? Any roms with moto display support?
I heard resurrection remix has moto permissions to download the moto apps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...73&postcount=2) Do all remix's have this?
Thanks

[Request] .apk file for Moto Display on Moto E3

I have an app for all Moto devices.
MotoDisplay handwave
Due to some reason, this app isn't working on E3 devices. It would be extremely helpful if someone uploaded the Stock Moto Display apk here so that I can take a look.
You can get the apk via any app on play store that is used for app backup. I use ES Explorer.
Please help me get this device supported. Thanks.
Moto E3 comes with a Mediatek chipset and just like Moto M, is not engineered by Motorola. Hence like other Lenovo phones, it does not have Moto display sensor and nor the Moto display feature.
It uses notification led.
So, your app won't work on it and also it won't work on the newly launched Moto M.

What?! Are you sure? I think I saw Moto Display on an E3. Maybe that wasn't an E3, or I saw something else.
But why is everyone requesting me to update this app to get this device supported?
I will have to check things out. Thanks for your reply.
May be that was a G3 or G4 play as both are identical to E3.
I am sure E3 doesn't have moto display as I had the device and I myself tried porting Moto display & other moto apps but they didn't work due to Mediatek chipset.
Yes that must have been G4 or G4 Play. Also no video reviews of E3 mention of Moto Display in the device.

Wave for notifications Moto Action?

I'm coming from a Droid Turbo and one features I use all the time is the Moto Action that allows you to wave your hand over the phone to turn on the Moto Display. In Moto Actions it's called "Approach for Moto Display". I was poking around a Moto G5 display unit and couldn't find this specific setting and because it was in demo mode, couldn't test it out.
Can someone confirm whether this feature exists in the G5?
Thanks!
Sorry to confirm it's not listed under Moto Actions on my G5 Plus. My Moto X Pure 2015 has 'Approach for Moto Display' so I know what it is. Probably the G5+ lacks the sensor(s) that enables it.
A member of this forum made an app for this phone to enable that feature. Works pretty well.

That really sucks, but I appreciate the confirmation. Is there something similar that replaced it? I thought I saw something in Moto Actions on that display unit that mentioned something about the Moto Display "pulsing". I think it was the first option in Actions.
Excellent! Sounds super promising. Thanks.
