Porting D855 Lollipop Update for D850 - G3 General

Hello,
Working on porting .kdz Lollipop update file for D855 for D850. When I try to extract files from .kdz file, it says the headers are incorrect. I have tried just about every .kdz file extractor I can find, but all read the same error.
The link to the file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/leak-lollipop-5-0-android-l-d85519h00-t2934345
When a solution is found, I will post the ported ROM as soon as possible.
I am posting here because I do not have 10 posts, therefore I can not post in the Development section.
Thanks,
Christian D

Isn't the problem with it not running for the D850 missing kernel sources? If we get a leak or an official for the D850, then it would be fixed. At least as that's what I was getting from reading through Cloudy 2.0 thread.

Yes that's the issue. With no stock kernel for D850 lollipop it will be near impossible to get a stable port running. You are correct in that you read that in Cloudys thread. He actually says that verbatim and that he will not release lollipop Cloudy without the official kernel. Unfortunately, like always, AT&T has to lie to themselves for months and make themselves believe people actually use their ****ty bloatware before they release the update. Tbh I think my next device is going to be a nexus device. I know they have had issues with lollipop but Google is fast to patch for the most part.
At least we don't have Verizon. Verizon customers won't get their update until Verizon figures out how to get lollipop to burn the Verizon logo into the user's retina thus completing the objective theyve been going after for years with the ever increasing amount of logos on their devices.... All their user will ever see is the Verizon logo. *queue ominous monk chant*

[Q] What is OpenSource Code Distribution?

I was looking for Sprint's kitkat update and came across LG's OpenSource Code Distribution. I'd post the link, but the software here won't let me. It has kernel and Android ZVC for download. Is this the kitkat update? If it is, how do I install it?
Thanks.

if you are speaking of this https://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensourceList?types=ALL&search=LS980 then that is the source for the ls980 and the ZVC is kk but I do not know how would you flash it have you downloaded it so we can know what's inside the zip, it might just have the files needed to compile a rom
yes indeed
Yes, it is the source code. Plus there is a readme file with instructions on how to compile it into a rom. My point was that LG has given it to Sprint to compile after March 25th, the date on the files. So we should get it very soon.

download links of .Kdz Stock firmware file for LG G3 Canadian Version D852

Can anyone provide me the download links of .Kdz stock firmware file for LG G3 Canadian Version D852 . the versions of the firmwares are D85210B and D85210A
There isn't one
Unfortunately the powers that be (with LG and our carriers) have not produced one yet. I imagine the first one to be made available will be the Lollipop version due out soon. Check the website: http://lg-firmware-rom.com
Enter your IMEI - I've been checking almost every day for the last 3 months - and we will see it when it's there. There has not been one made avail for our current firmware so we are left with the unofficial sources for a .tot file instead. Do some reading in the restoring the G3 back to stock ( or "unrooting") threads.

what are the best roms available for LG G3 D852 Model ?
The Cloudy ROM is the best daily driver in my opinion. It debloats some of the unwanted apps, gives solid battery performance, and keeps the IR blaster. I don't think any of the lollipop builds support the IR blaster on the D852 yet.

That site has no firmware for the p930 at all, and there are several available.. Doesn't seem to be very complete.

IMO the stock KK with Rin Kernel and g3tweaksbox (can mod nearly entire UI, and even more customizable than any rom I've used) is obviously fully stable and complete, and my battery life has been amazing. Well over double what I was getting on my P930 (Nitro HD) on CM10.1.3 or CM11. I'm at 80% with 3h46m on wifi and screen on auto brightness using tapatalk. 14h39m remaining (will get much more in sleep mode till morning). Using the Android L theme by Kickoff (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/themes-apps/mod-gwbt-theme-g3-tweaksbox-themes-t2852754 which looks really nice and themes the entire UI -- and the Android 5.0 Proper Boot Animations (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/themes-apps/bootanimation-proper-android-5-0-t2961791) for a pseudo-Lollipop feel with no buggy roms.
Edit: The ImproveG3 Mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/themes-apps/multimod-improveg3-t2958376 fixes the follwoing in an easy, modular Aroma installer:
- Remove LG apps
- Remove Google Apps (which can be downloaded from Play Store)
- Remove boot/shutdown animations/sounds
- Remove all other UI/Camera/Alarm/Notification/Ringtone sounds - see 2nd post if you need to restore these easily

Lollipop: Go to [OFFICIAL] Xposed for Lollipop/Marshmallow [Android 5.0/5.1/6.0]. It is more complicated than installing it for KitKat. You need a custom recovery and you have to flash xposed-v**-sdk2*-arm.zip file and clean your cache from recovery after flashing !!! Install XposedInstaller_***.apk afterwards.
SDK21 is for Stock Lollipop (5.0.1)
SDK22 is for CM12.1 (5.1.1)
SDK23 is for CM13 (6.0.1)

Freeze/Deletable LG Apps:
thenotonly shared a list of LG System Apps which are more or less save to freeze/delete. It will increase RAM and speed up your phone but it is potentially dangerous since most System Apps are used somehow to operate your device.
If you still which to freeze/delete them: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1B0BiPHx8II_0qL9RqBVlxmCy-DqtuowQliy2RdUPx7g/edit
Maybe the TWRP for KitKat ROMs can also be added (it just has to be installed using Flashify):

Hei guys
Did anyone update to lolipop 5..0.2 ? How is the overall performance and battery life ? Does it suffer from the infamous memory leak ?
I received my update via OTA and still thinking about updating or not.
Thank you !

As for the overall performance, I can say that it really improved for me. Everything is very fast and smooth, I love it, especially with the new animations!
The battery life for me is about the same as with Kitkat, maybe just a little bit better but no huge differences.
Too bad the memory leak is present, you might get some of its consequences every now and then. But, as I already said, overall it's still faster than Kitkat for me.

Hey quicksandmg
I would say do the update because performance and battery life is even or maybe even a little better than an KitKat.
I suggest you reboot your device ones a day do free memory which may be used because of the leak.
Overall I am quit happy with the update but if you need Xposed you should stay on Kitkat until we fixed the cache problem.

Thank you for your answers,
Even though im on a dedicated forum, i rather stay stock due to lack of knowledge.
Well....if the memory leak is present, im staying on kitkat. Its not ultra fast, but fast enough. Plus the buttons look better
I have LG G3 Beat Dual SIM ............. I just wondering if I should update to lollipop or not , since I just got the update but I didn't update ..
can some one take some screen shots for the update and what is new.
also hope someone review the update with the most common issues
thank you in advance
got a d722k. still waiting for lollipop OTA
What about xposed? I guess i'll have to freeze/uninstall weather services and smartcover?
Edit.
Xposed works, but you have to flash zip from twrp. Before doing so, smartcover and lg weather services must be freezed. easiest way via ADB
adb shell (check the phone, and click ok)
su
pm disable com.lge.smartcover
pm disable com.lge.sizechangable.weather
pm disable com.lge.sizechangable.weather.platform
Don't forget to activate usb debugging.
My xposed installer is doing it automatically..but..people anyway report that phone process stops when xposed is installed
There is still a bug with Xposed that makes the phone process stop on our phones, even if you disable those LG apps. The maker of Xposed (rovo89) knows about this issue and confirms it, he is trying to find the cause of the bug. When he finds that, might fix it. See the comment of rovo89 himself: https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/42

No this is a part of the Android source code provided by LG (Since they made some changes to the Android OS)
If you would download the official Android source code plus the code provided by LG and you would have a lot of time and knowledge you could develop a CM for your device.
But you should be able to download the KDZ file for your phone with the website I linked in the first post

You have a different device and you have to search for your device.
If it has similar specs you may be able to root your device and maybe twrp will work to but I cannot say for sure since this thread is mainly for d722 and d724.
But I am not a developer.

I already have root. They are the same device as i have been told and seen. I just want to know if the recovery will work
Well if you say it's "the same device" then you already have the answer. But different model means different device. You are free to try but it's not advised
The reason im asking is if you look up our phones they are all listed as the same. Including the cases available. Multiple sites list them as the same so i want to know if someone on the G3 Vigor LS885 has tried this.

[LG G3] Android Marshmallow discussions

Hello G3 users, Android 6 is finally here ! Current available KDZ list below:
LG G3 D855 30B_GLOBAL_XX , thanks to @autoprime
LG G3 D855 30B_EUR_XX , thanks to @maxou2600
LG G3 F400L 30C_KR_XX , thanks to @ishanbhatnagr96
LG G3 F400K 30D_KR_XX, thanks to @Keaganvdh
LG G3 F400S 30C_KR_XX , thanks to @ishanbhatnagr96
LG G3 D858HK 30A_HK_XX
These KDZ's are compatible with both 16 and 32 GB versions of the phone, and they can be flashed using LG Flash Tool (2014).
I recommend you to do a CSE Flash if you're going to use the flash tool from above. You can flash this coming from any previous rom.
Also, if you get the error from the attachments while flashing, have no fear and keep the phone plugged in to the pc until the flashing is complete.
The main changes in Android 6 Marshmallow for the G3 are shown here.
For the secret menu the code is *#546368#*855# , thanks to @dszymek
First impressions from @KiaTheKing are available in the video below .
@KiaTheKing was also kind enough to make a tutorial on how to root android marshmallow
in the video below.
In attachments you have some pics, happy flashing !
I wish we get marshmallow and we don't stuck with the buggy 5.0
True that?
Seems that d855 is also close to marshmallow update.

http://uk.lgworld.com/web.lgsw.member.RetrievePhoneModelList.dev
I only hope that they will learn their lesson, and 6.0 won't be as slow and bugged as 20A..20W are...
i hope the aosp team will use marshmallow sources for their roms and not kitkat as they did with lollipop.. (camera driver is still kitkat.. kernel is still kitkat updated for lollipop)
I woke up to an OTA on my Sprint device this morning. It just downloaded it, I haven't installed it. Wonder if it's an incremental update to prep for 6.0.
Edit: Looks like this is the ZVB update that combats the stagefright exploit. Is this really something I should worry about? I wouldn't open media sent from an unknown party anyway.
Both Canadian models has Android 6.0 in the drop down.
I'm excited.
Oh man, really? For the D855/D852?
This is reassuring. I'm grateful I've chosen LG to go with my smartphone. I loved how I got my Lollipop update quickly last year, and I'd love to get the Marshmallow quickly as well.
This will definitely count towards my next upgrade. Previously I was thinking about the new Moto or HTC line, now I'm deciding between a G4 or a V10!
Or you could play nice and wait for g5.
Hope it won't be buggy
Only the Korean builts listed, not D855 at the moment. Hope LG do it again, like they did last year with LP upgrade, and we get MM anytime soon, then I will definitely stick with LG for my next phone too (summer 2016)

Nougat already out? [XT1622]

Hi there,
is Android 7.0 or 7.1. already out via OTA for XT1622?
I didn't found an official image to download, only custom roms based on Nougat.
I'm on a custom ROM and I want to switch back to stock with root, because no custom ROM satisfies me at this moment.
When I tried to delete apps from Stock Marshmallow, it caused a boot loop even if I didn't touch any system relevant apps.
Thanks for all serious answers.

Short answer: OTA updates are not released according to the moderators and admins on Motorola's official forums.
<Short, slightly OT rant>
The ZIP file you may find on XDA (as well as several other places online) is apparently an unauthorized leak from the soak test Moto was conducting. It's caused a major headache for the unfortunate people maintaining those forums, going by the explosion of N-related queries and the resultant chaos.
That said, the update runs like a dream and it's quite likely that it will be the final version.
</rant>
My advice? Wait till the OTA arrives for stock users (should be sometime within this year if Moto's blog is to be believed) and then restore to stock and root.
