[Q] N900 Rooted With Custom ROM to Lollipop? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i've been reading this thread over in the General discussions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/lollipop-ota-note-3-n900-started-t2973773
i currently have K14-Dr.Ketan custom ROM flashed to my phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519897
and my recovery is TWRP v2.7.1.0
the CSC code is: INU.
at first, i thought i couldn't update to the Lollipop update because its CSC code is XXV/THL
but then i saw a reply somewhere in the midst saying to flash a 4.4.2 version to change my code to the proper one.
i'm not entirely sure what to do. any help would be much appreciated!

It take time to change csc code.
Read this topic and change to XXV.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342328

so i don't understand a few things in regard to the steps...
1b. You are on stock ROM but is on other's region firmware and is rooted (based on Samsung official firmware). Same, just download your stock latest update firmware from sammobile.com first. Which contains your region's CSC.
Click to collapse
so since my stock custom ROM is INU-based, i go and download the INU firmware?
2. Ok, now both are on a stock ROM but rooted, check your CSC using the CSC Changer app.
3. If not working, then install ES File Explorer from Playstore or link below (recommended) or other file browser with Root access ability. Open the side menu and select Root Explorer.
Click to collapse
i only found one app in the Play Store with this name, and it's 0.99 cents, before i buy it, is that the correct one? or if i don't want to buy it, i just continue with step 3?
7. Alright all done, reboot your phone first. Then reset the BIN counter using Triangle Away. (Again, friendly reminder: Do not enter CWM Recovery again as it will increase the BIN counter) Reboot and put your phone in Download mode. Flash the stock ROM you've downloaded though ODIN.
Click to collapse
so if i go with the ES File Explorer route, i can then go straight into flashing the Lollipop firmware?
also, do i need the app Triangle Away? if i don't care about the BIN counter?
my goal is to be unrooted, on Lollipop, with/without Knox counter tripped.

It doesnt matter INU or whatever region. As long as your device is N900 , Just download NJ3 firmware with XXV region which download link given in that post or download from sammobile.
Secondly, better to do factory reset after u flashed NJ3.
3. No need to buy csc changer. Just install free"phone info" from play store and check ur csc and if not xxv, change ur csc code to xxv with that "phone info" application.
4. You may need to flash NJ3 again or wipe data until u see ur csc is xxv.
5. Follow the instruction about lollipop post.
6. You can skip supersu 2.40 step if u dont want a root.

You may need to flash NJ3 again or wipe data until u see ur csc is xxv. Follow the instruction about lollipop post and yes u can start lollipop step.

i ended up following the "new" method posted to the original topic. and just in case anyone finds this thread, here are the exact steps i took:
1. Flash TWRP via ODIN
Click to collapse
i was using Odin 3.09. put your N900 into download mode by powering it off, then holding the Vol Down + Home Button + Power Button.
then within Odin, click on the "AP" button and browse for the "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-ha3g.img.tar" file, and click the Start button
1.1 Enter TWRP and create Backup. (To safe)
Click to collapse
boot to custom recovery by having your N900 powered off, then holding the Vol Up + Home Button + Power Button.
perform a nandroid backup, and reboot the phone back into Android
1.2. Copy unziped file at /twrp/4d00279c40989079/2014-12-18--00-18-21 LRX21V.N900XXUEBNL4 to phone /twrp/xxxxxx/2014-12-18--00-18-21 LRX21V.N900XXUEBNL4 where xxxxxx is unique generated for your device
Click to collapse
now that your phone is backed up, copy the extracted "TWRP-LRX21V.N900XXUEBNL4-samsungviet.vn.zip" to your nandroid backup location
2. Enter TWRP -> Wipe -Swipe to Factory Reset
Click to collapse
boot back into custom recovery (holding the Vol Up + Home Button + Power Button.)
3. Return TWRP Home -> Restore -> Select "2014-12-18--00-18-21 LRX21V.N900XXUEBNL4"
Click to collapse
select the extracted folder as your restore state
4. Select everything to restore
Click to collapse
for me, there was only 3 choices to select, and they were already pre-selected.
5. When finish Restore, return TWRP Home -> Reboot -> Download
Click to collapse
i had to power off the phone instead of using TWRP to reboot into Download Mode, then do the Vol Down + Home Button + Power Button.
6. Flash Bootloader 5.0 (without Auto Reboot) then pull out battery and re-enter download mode
Click to collapse
then in Odin, click the "BL" button and browse for the "bootloader-5.0.tar" and click Start
7. Flash stock recovery (with auto reboot)
Click to collapse
after pulling the battery and putting it back in. boot to Download Mode again (Vol Down + Home Button + Power Button)
in Odin, click on the "AP" button, and browse for the "recovery.tar" and click Start
8. First boot will take 5-10 mins.
Click to collapse
voila. done.
BLUETOOTH FIX
Flash cwm via odin (dont tick auto reboot)
Take off batre and cable. And take on again.
Press volume up + home + power button and get in recovery mode (cwm).
Flash bluetooth dix from this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...-roms-t2938607)
Get in the download mode and flash stock recovery.
reboot and you can use your bluetooth again
Click to collapse
although i don't understand this step.
it says to flash CWM even though the previous steps have you flash TWRP. (edit: and then the previous steps have you flash stock recovery)
then it says to flash the ZIP file within the custom recovery, boot to download mode, and flash stock recovery?
any help on this part?

Just consider yourself that you are now using android L which is with stoch recovery after u have done all procedure. And yes u facing bluetooth error.
So u have to flash custom recovery( CWM) to flash bluetooth fix zip. May be u can use twrp again to flash bluetoothfix zip.

oh yeah, duh. step 7- flash stock recovery.
so i tried to flash TWRP again and i received an error in Odin. i'm thinking it's because i have to root again.
without root, i can't fix the bluetooth then?

I dont think u need root for that.
May be u change ur recovery to CWM than twrp and flash bluetooth fix

[HOW-TO] Flash latest 4.2.2 on GT-i9082

DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for any damage caused to your device, you solely take responsibility for any damage or bricking.
WARNING: The following firmware should only flashed in GT-I9082 and not any other devices as this might brick them.
1. Download Jelly Bean 4.2.2 I9082XXUBMF2 from https://hotfile.com/dl/233057193/bed43fc/I9082XXUBMF2_I9082OXABMF2_OXA.rar.html
2. Now extract the downloaded file I9082XXUBMF2_I9082OXABMF2_OXA.rar the package included the Odin 3.07 and firmware files.
3. Open Odin3 v3.07.exe
4. Power off Galaxy Grand Duos and boot into download mode (Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons).
5. Now Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign with port name in Odins ID:COM box.
6. Add files by clicking
PIT - baffin.pit
PDA - CODE_I9082XXUBMF2_871997_REV05_user_mid_noship.tar.md5
PHONE - MODEM_I9082XXUBMF2_REV05.tar.md5
CSC - CSC_OXA_I9082OXABMF2_871997_REV05_user_mid_noship.tar.md5
7. Make sure Re-Partition is ticked.
Galaxy grand duos jelly bean 4.2.2 odin flash
8. Finally Click Start and wait until Odin finish flashing....After complete Phone will restart.
That's it done !
Note:
If you encounter any Force close or Boot Loop
1. Boot into recovery mode (Home+ Power + Volume Up)
2. Choose wipe/data factory reset.
(THIS WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR DATA INCLUDING YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD!)
3. Then choose reboot and you should be good to go!
:good: THERE YOU GO, YOU HAVE THE LATEST FIRMWARE INSTALLED IN YOUR SAMSUNG GALAXY GRAND !!! :good:
HIT LIKE IF THIS HELPED YOU
PS - Contact me for any help regarding this.
I think you should be less missleading if this is a "HOW TO" guide.
1. There is no order on the procedures.
2. You show nothing about flashing and applying CWM, as you mention it in the beginning.
3. It's GT "i"9082, not 19082.
4. I don't think you need to wipe data so often. Flashing a stock firmware through odin kind of overwrite the device. IMO one wipe after the flash is enough.
Hi, a noob here..
I'm still on a stock rom...original firmware...and I've downloaded the latest firmware (I9082XXXAMD6_I9082OLBAMD3_XTC) on the livesamsungupdate site...
Is there any clear steps on how can i update my phone without using KIES or the ODIN thing....whichever is the best...
And is there any infos or pros and cons after the updates of official firmwares?
Thanks in advance....
If the file has a .md5 or .tar it is best to flash with odin
If it is a zip file it is best to flash with CWM or other custom recovery

Yes it is possible to make one (if you cant then back up after rooting)
No everything will be deleted since you wiped your data before flashing but you can try titanium backup to backup all your apps and contacts before flashing and restore them after flashing.

Carbon or Helium I think is for non-rooted phones for backup... maybe it will do...
One more thing.... before I upgrade the firmware do I need to remove the SD card and the SIM cards?

Hey guys do some one know how to delete a post ?
Any idea what is the difference or any improvement of flashing it to the latest version of the official firmware?
I read this article on how to update to latest firmware: Updating to latest firmware
"Verify that both the device's carrier and bootloader are unlocked before proceeding. Attempting to install the firmware on a locked device may completely damage or brick the device."
What does this means? is it if the device is SIM locked?
My phone is is SIM locked on the SIM1 only but not the bootloader... is there any way to check if this is locked?
Thanks in advance...

No this firrmware will not harm your GT-I9082 because we have bootloader unlocked ans sim unlocked,
How ever take a nandroid backup before flashing so we can revert back the changes if anything goes wrong.
Just for additional ROM links I've found. All countries ROM include latest and previous version for your Grand Duos.

Hi. I have a NOTE 4 running ANK4 android 4.4 rooted with CWRP.
My question is: In order to flash a STOCK 5.0.1 tar from sammobile, what are the steps I need to follow?
Do I simply have to get the tar file and flash it through Odin?
Do I have to unroot/remove custom recovery first?
Do I have to factory reset and reset cache?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

hi,
your first question is correct
if you flash you will automatically lose root and recovery.. (no need to unroot and remove custom recovery..)
read my post #2 in this thread.. see link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3068738
for snapshot and more details
lastly it up to you if you want to factory reset etc.. it is not necessary
good luck
Download the file from www.samfirmware.com, make sure you have the CORRECT firmware for your SPECIFIC phone model.
While you are on the download page, there is an instruction, which I copied below:
Instructions:
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin ZIP file
Open Odin v.3.09
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
You don't need to root or do anything, just MAKE SURE that "Reactivation Lock" under Settings>Security is DE-ACTIVATED.
You don't necessarily have to do a Reset, but if you are having problems with force closing apps, battery drain etc... then do a Reset.
Good luck
Ok I just did that, ODIN said passed but literally nothing happened to the phone? lmao. It still shows android 4.4

tried to root phone, stuck in bootloop (Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing)

so i tired to root my note 4 (SM-N910F) with this thread.

- Download and unzip the CF-Auto-Root-....zip file (see posts below this one)
- If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar.md5 file - don't extract that one
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start Odin3-vX.X.exe
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Auto-Root-....tar.md5
- Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
- Click the Start button
- Wait for Android to boot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)

download the lolipop firmware of germany ...from sammobile.com/firmwares
put the phone in download mode.....
through odin flash this firmware on your phone....
you have lolipop.... then you will be rooted by exactly the same method which failed you last time
The best, easy and most safe way to fix your problem is to flashing a stock firmware again with odin. Just pull out your battery, put it on again, get in Download mode and flash the Rom with ODIN, let it boot and you will have your phone working again.
Once you get it, download this and extract it until you get a ".tar" file. Put your device in download mode again and flash the tar file. It should be working nice (there could be some random reboots while booting, that's normal for CF-Root process, just wait)
If you can't enter in recovery mode after this, download TWRP for the N910F from here.
Cheers!

Since your device is international it shouldn't have a locked recovery or something so that makes me think that you did something bad in the process. Reflash the rom and root it with the link I put before. If still doesn't work try to install TWRP with odin too and see if the problem dissapears.
please keep quoting me so my email advices me and I can help you fastly.

Yep, download any firm you want no matter of region, just make sure it is for N910F. Sammobile will download really slow if you don't have paid account so I recommend you to find any mirror for it. Once downloaded, flash it with odin and let it boot!
Did you try the root on Kitkat? the CF-Auto root is not compatible with Kitkat, only lollipop (I also had bootloop when tried on Kitkat).
Download this files and try the root process again (this files are from 20.01.2015):

my phone version is 4.4.4 android
First get it back to stock
Hi man,
I would first get the phone back to stock firmware by following the guide on this page:
http://galaxynote4root.com/galaxy-note-4-root/how-to-unroot-galaxy-note-4-with-stock-firmware/
Then Root it by flashing TWRP reovery:
http://galaxynote4root.com/cwmtwrp-recovery/
And via TWRP flash SuperSU:
http://galaxynote4root.com/galaxy-note-4-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-4-using-cwmtwrp-method/
Just follow the instructions and links and you should be fine.
As long as the phone goes into dowload mode you can't really fail this one.
Good luck

SM-G900F Root Help

hello guys, i have a Samsung galaxy S5 (SM-G900F)
i installed the latest OTA updates, but today i tried to root my device with CF-auto root file, odin did successfully but the phone didn't restart,it keep saying
recovery rooting,
recovery is not standadid enforcing or something like that
set warranty bit : recovery
it keep saying for like 10min but nothing showed up,then i flashed phiztouch recovery file, then the device reboot successfully but after i went to the recovery mode, there is no phiztouch recovery, its the stock recovery
can anyone help me to root the device n to install a phiztouch recovery
CF Auto Root should have worked, I'd try that again
Make sure you use the G900F version
Run ODIN as Admin
Only have F.Reset Time and Auto Reboot ticked in ODIN
Obviously phone in download mode
--
Other alternatives are to flash TWRP with ODIN, then SuperSU from TWRP

Are you using a native PC to flash with ODIN?
Got the Samsung drivers installed?
Mine is the G900F and CF auto root works fine with all firmwares to date, wonder if your bootloader is locked?

Same problem here
Odin 3 V1.85 does everthing correctly, then phone boots correctly, but when I go to recovery, still stock:crying:
Could it be that it has something to do with lollipop 5.0?
Please advice
So long as your bootloader is unlocked, CF Auto Root works fine with the G900F and all Android versions up to the latest

i nvr wiped data before flashing a recovery or a CF auto root file in my earlier devices
but now i did
But still no success bro
Can u tell me the process how to check the bootloader locked or unlocked ??

Yes I did.
This is what I did step by step:
I have odin 3V1.85 installed on my pc and from there I followed all instructions
I put following file in PDA. philz_touch_6.26.6-klte.tar.md5
After that phone rebooted succesfully. But when I want to enter recovery it gives me a warning sign and it enters stock recovery
Android system recovery <3e>
LRX21T.G900FXXU1BNL9
I have flashed alot of roms with my previous phone but this is new for me.
So again appolize for all the "stupid"questions!
I hope someone knows the solution.
Hmm odd, i had the exact same problem when rooting about 3 days ago, now it works but i can't for the life of me figure out how i managed to get it to work. Ill get back to you.

Ok guys, try this.
1. Download philz kernel that matches your modem number. I think philz_touch_6.26.6-klte.tar.md5 works good.
2. Put it in ODIN on PDA/AP
3. Uncheck "Auto Reboot" and make sure Re-Partition is NOT CHECKED (keep F. Reset time)
4. Flash
5. It will say RESET on Odin and nothing further when it is done so just wait 2-3 minutes when RESET appears to be entirely sure that the procedure is done.
6. Pull out phones battery.
7. Put it back in and now go into Recovery directly (Vol up+home+power)
8. ???
9. Profit
Hopefully this might work, i think i did the same

Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Not Functioning Well After Firmware 4.4.2 Flash

Details:
Phone Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005
Current Firmware: Kitkat 4.4.2 (very likely bugged)
Hi,
I'll list the issue in 2 parts for easier interpretation.
PART I
My phone was on Lollipop 5.0 firmware, I followed this guide on Youtube to downgrade.
The firmware I used specifically was: N9005XXUENA6_N9005OLBENA2_XME
What happened after flashing was this error: Unfortunately Setup Wizard has stopped working
I rebooted the phone in safe mode (Vol Up + Power Button + Home Button) and cleared cache and data
Then I completed the setup wizard, Wi-fi works fine & phone was able to be rooted
But the phone had these issues (even before root):
Occasional freeze when unlock screen with swipe
Restarts occasionally
Baseband Unknown
IMEI Null
Mobile network not available
So I rebooted the phone in safe mode (Vol Up + Power Button + Home Button) and cleared cache and data
Problems still persist.
So I went to PART II

Please advise on what I should do to rectify issue.
Thanks in advance!

Can you kindly elaborate?
Also shouldn't that be done BEFORE flashing, or am I wrong?
And also, in the steps I did above, was there any mistake in the process?
Seriously, no one's capable to solve this?
Seriously you have restored your EFS folder ??
As for the OP the stuff in the boxes is unreadable .

No, I did not back up as I did not know that I had to before flashing.
As for the OP, there I used quote instead of code. I'm sorry for that. Do inform if it is still not readable.
There are some ways... maybe... search for "recover EFS" and you find some tuts which might help you out...

Its the Downgrade that has caused the problems .Possible due to the modem and or bootloader .

Nope but i have easier way to fix maybe:
I always use n9005xxugng1 latest kit kat firmware to downgrade and never had issues. Maybe flashing this will bring back your imei and so...
The imei goes cause samsung did change efs stuffs in updates thats because you cant go back to older firmwares without imei backup. (N9005XXUGNG1 should be working fine)
But that is UK firmware and my phone did not originate from UK and wasn't bought there as well. Can that really work?

I flashed using the one downloaded from my country. Perhaps like JJEgan said, my flashing method was incorrect. Can you inform me on how to flash correctly?
What I did (more or less):
1. Wipe cache + Clear Data @ Safe Mode (Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button)
2. Used Odin to flash
3. Problem
Do not use safe mode only recovery .

Sorry, I don't understand.
Did you mean flashing firmware using Odin when phone is in bootloop/"Samsung Setup Wizard Has Stopped"?
Dont use safe mode for anything at all .
((. Wipe cache + Clear Data @ Safe Mode))
Flashing a TAR file is via Odin .
Flashing a zip file or clearing cache factory reset is via Recovery .

Thanks for the explanation, V_B. That was exactly what I did before that problem happened that made me create this thread.
I'll try it again anyway using your steps as the reference, this time using the firmware you recommended. I'll report the result after.
