3G not working(APN issue) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I changed my usual SIM(vodafone italy) to another SIM for work(chess mobile norway).
All worked fine with it, 3g wifi, as usual.
Then when i finished using the norwegian SIM i went back to the old one (italian vodafone), and no 3g working.
the APN menu is empty.
I try to press + to ADD and it crashes( settings crash).
I press bottom left button then press return to default APN , and after 10sec i can see the Internet,Wap,MMS entries but after some seconds they all dishappear.
In those seconds i can see the h+ icon blinking for 1 second and then dishappears leaving the APN menu empty as described above.
After this first attempt if i press again to get APD defaults nothing happens.
Then I try again to use the norwegian SIM on my S4 and it works well.
I don't have a clue what's going on.
Any suggestions?
:crying:
Cheers
P.s: the phone is rooted, knox removed ,android 4.4.2,

already tried. Nothing changes.
I have just got another phone to test the sim, and 3g is working.
So if I was able to add an APN maybe i would solve the problem.
But the APN settings crashes all the time.
No chance to make any new connection.

Thanks for help very much, but it didn't help
Should I do factory reset?

I did the HARD reset and it worked. So 4 someone having the same problem that is a drastic but working solution.
Seems that using a SIM from another cowntry made a lot of mess in the S4.
Thanks 4 Help

[GT I9505] Can't Emit/Receive Call

Hi everyone,
first, sorry for my bad english, I live in France.
So, I have some problems with my GT I9505 because I can't emit or receive call since one week maybe more.
I was with the ROM Custom by Jamal (Google Edition 4.4.2) since one month and everything was ok.
But there is one week ago, I couldn't call or receive call !
I try some tips like :
- Format Dalvik Cache
- Format Data/Factory Reset
- Format Cache
Nothing worked. So, I decided to flash the ROM again, nothing working too.
I decided to go with a Stock Rom without root.
I went to : I9505XXUFNB9
I launch the phone and sames problems !! Impossible to call !!
I tried too the sames tips :
- Format Dalvik Cache
- Format Data/Factory Reset
- Format Cache
My MICRO SIM is OK because I tested her in phone's friend (Apple Iphone 4S).
So, I think there is one problem with my phone... I don't know what kind of problem...
But, I can emit and receive SMS and use LTE network.
Thanks you for helping.

The problem is that ur phone is blocked to that company and the latest firmware for it is: I9505XXUEMKF android 4.3. You are having problems coz u flashed a unbranded firmware. We gona try a thing:
1. Go to Settings - Connections - More networks - Mobile network - Network operators.
2. Click and wait till it find Bouygues Telecom. If no, search it automatically or manually

The battery pulling part can also be replaced by simply pressing Power for 10 seconds. No idea why removing the battery would be necessary.

Samsung Note 3 doesn't want to recognize/register my SIM

I'm not a 100% sure how this problem occurred, I believe it was after flashing an S5 custom rom called: "RC Elite S5 Port V16" To my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N900W8). From what I was reading it was a ROM that "converts" your note 3 to a note 4 or s5, while still having all the Note 3 features. Another possible cause is trying to use RegionLock Away.apk by Chainfire to essentially(unlock) the phone. I feel like this is the main cause though as this affects the modem on the phone. This isn't the SIM as I tried it in another phone and works fine with calls and texts.
My phone doesn't want to register its mobile network anymore. When I try to make a call or text it says:
"Not Registered on network"
I was reading online for about 2-3days now for possible solutions that can cure this. Such as:
1. Going into Mobile Networks settings and manually register [failed, details below]
2. Going into Mobile Networks settings, hold home button for 2seconds and then hold power button + home button for 15seconds [failed, details below]
3. Taking out battery while the phone is on and remove the SIM card, clean it and re-insert [failed]
4. Factory Reset [Failed]
5. Wipe Storage and re-flash stock ROM [Failed]
Options 1 & 2 do not work because when I try to access Mobile Network Settings I get this:
"Insert SIM card to access network services"
The SIM card is inside the phone though...
So what I did is found a mobile network options shortcut "program" from GooglePlay Store and installed it. It allows me to access the menu, which is great! Now, when I try to register the SIM card to my correct service provider (BELL CANADA)...it will make me wait for about 1-2minutes before I get "Unable to register, try later" error.
I tried the factory restore with a stock 4.4.2 ROM from Sammobile and the issue is still there.
Is there anything that anyone knows that can help me resolve this problem? I tried EVERYTHING i can possibly find on Google. I've seen posts of people suggesting to flash a modem.bin file with Odin but I don't know where to get those files, nor what to look for in terms of modem file "types".

I tried region unlocking it with RegionLock Away by Chainfire. I would like to say afterwards this issue occurred but as far as im concerned, using a TELUS Mobility sim card activates the network pin unlock. So i'll be going with no, it's not unlocked.
I currently have a Bell LTE 4G SIM card installed on the phone. If you check the photos there it shows I have a full connection but unable to make calls nor access the mobile networks menu.... =/
I can provide pictures on the error messages if you'd like.

Do one thing.
1. Turn off the phone. Take a out the simcard and battery for some min.
2. Add the battery only. Turn on the phone and factory reset your device (Settings > Accounts > Back Up and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Delete All/Erase Everything.)
3. Insert SIMCARD without turn off the phone.

They there! I tried to follow all the steps to the best of my ability but it seemed that didn't work. For 1, the note 3's sim card slot is blocked by the battery so i can't take it out without turning it off. In addition, after only inserting the battery and performing the factory reset, I decided to test it and the issue is STILL there even though a sim card isn't even inserted AFTER the factory reset. Same error messages as if nothing ever happened, even shows full bar reception even though nothing is in there. =/
This is the most unique problem I have ever encountered myself. I really don't know what to say...

Bumping.
After some more research I was wondering if you reflash the stock firmware back, does it effect the EFS partition at all? Cause if it doesn't I believe I installed a faulty EFS partition accidentally which results in the broken connection.
Any way I can get a backup of an EFS file that I can flash?
Thanks.
Bump. This issue is driving me nuts.
Thank you in advance.

Issue still there.
Thanks in advance for the replies.
I had this same problem earlier (for a note 2) in the week where it just wont register any sim card.
In my case i think the problem was that i did a full format before flashing which probably deleted the EFS folder.
I tried so many options and eventually managed to resolve it by following the following instructions to restore the stock firmware.
Edit: Unfortunately i cant post URLs as i dont have enough posts
You can get to the page if you search for the following text in Google (The first entry in the results page)

Hey there!
Thanks for your swift reply! I had already did the Samsung Recovery via Kies 3. Do you know if I reflash it that way that the EFS folder would get flashed as well? Because after doing those steps the issue is still there, after about 3 firmware recovery flashes. xD
I didn't even think about backing up the stupid EFS folder otherwise I would have. I was looking at this

not registered on network

Hello,a few weeks ago I bought s7 edge which was rooted(bought not new phone) ,I wanted to instal stock fw,I mean to delete that root.So I tried to factory reset,it didnt helped, and the phone started to lag,so I instaled 7.0 stock fw,everything works smooth now except that I cant call,or send text messages,it says not registered on network,on 6.0 everything was fine,so any ideas how can I fix this issue? Tried instaling different fw's,even tried old 6.0.1 still got the same problem.I checked my imei its not blocked, everything is fine
Download the corresponding firmware for your supplier, or find out the APN details for your carrier and manually enter them in.

a2017g n b05 4g lost on 2nd sim

Hey,
I've recently upgraded from b04 to b05 and now I can't get 4g or 3g Internet on my 2nd sim. That's what I normally use for data. The Vodafone apn setting have also disappeared.
Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks I've tried that - the 4G problem is fixed but I still cant connect - I've added settings manually. I should probably add here that I'm on Vodafone UK (2nd sim)
Also I've upgraded to B06 - which produces the same result and interestingly the APN that does appear in the list is TalkMobile...?
Swapped SIM cards and back - now I can't get mobile internet on either one of the SIMs even after reboot. At least for SIM1 the correct APN is present. HELP!

IMEI is fine but it seems that Sim2 only goes to edge not 3g or 4G - it's like it doesn't change connection type
Have you fixed your problem? I have the same problem before, so if you can try to change your settings about card in your settings and reboot your phone, your problem may get fixed. Good luck!
Try factory reset
So I reverted to b04 and its all good now.

USSD codes

Hi everone.
I have been using my Mi A1 for bout 5 months and all was good.
I use USSD codes to get credit balance etc. (In Ireland on m y network *#100# returns balance etc).
Since the second last update this USSD code (or any USSD code for that matter) is not working.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks.

If I factory reset it will (obviously) go back to out-of-the-box settings but will then take the latest AO updates and will result in the same issue :crying:

It's only a network setting reset (NOT factory reset) which would only wipe your network related presets like Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and mobile data.
Give it a try then feedback.

Thanks for the suggestion however, that has not resolved the issue.
Just to add, these USSD codes have only stopped working since the second last update July for Android One. Have checked with teh network operator and they have not retired the codes.
If you are using dual sim, you might have set the dial to another sim. Change that to "Ask first".
