Just downloaded a 112mb update - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 General

Was hopeful that it was lollipop, but it's not.

Pretty sure lollipop will be a much bigger download since it's a major overhaul.

Cool story welcome to NK2 aka last week

Since I just got my new GN2 on Tuesday, the OTA update I received looks like it took me from version NIE to NK2. I have since rooted using CFAutoroot.

lollipop won't be until February and it will be version 5.0.1, I think samsung doesn't want to take 5.0 because some of the problems it has.

There were rumors that note 4 and edge might get skipped. I will link the article when i find it again.

How is thread still open can't believe it hasn't been closed there are many many other threads started with same topics

Sprint getting Official Lollipop Now...

Just FYI, hopefully we are next... we will see..
Where did you get your information from because I just looked on a few credible sites like phonearena.com, androidauthority.com & androidpolice.com and I do not see any mention of Sprint Note 4 getting the official Lollipop update.
I know the T-Mobile Note 3 recently got the update. Maybe Sprint just got the update for the Note 3 as well.

Wonder how hard it would be to port the ROM for T-Mobile. Kind of surprised we haven't seen any 5.0 ports yet.
Probably won't get ported, it'll be here before you know it now..

At this point, a port isnt even necessary. By the time it was done, we'd have Official already. In the past, there have only been ports of international versions since they come so early.
Official T Mobile Lollipop shouldn't be too long off now.

Perhaps, but the tracking site on T-Mobile still shows the update in "Manufacture Development" So, it hasn't even started the T-Mobile testing process yet.

That isn't that accurate. It says the Note 3 is still in testing and it dropped yesterday. I'm not sure how often they update the site.

Right now its matter of wanting the new thing despite knowing how jacked up it is. Lollipop been a bundle of bugs since 5.0.0 and I believe they are releasing 5.1?

Just spoke with T-Mobile regarding this. Advised that I was curious how and why it showed still in manufacturer development whereas many international carriers as well as Sprint have the update pushed. Explained that it would stand to reason that it shouldn't show that status. The agent went on to state that T-Mobile is working on finishing it up now.
Okay, so, this tells me one of a few things. 1 - Their site is not updated and T-Mobile has it or 2 - They have yet to receive it from the manufacturer. I would have to lean towards option 1 but that is purely speculation based on nothing more than stupid hope! However, their choice of wording has me interested and hopeful. They would not give any sort of a date, only to say that they were trying to make sure it was running smoothly.
FWIW.

Oh, and one more thing I thought about. Some of you veterans around here have a much better idea about this than myself. Is it possible they are nearly ready but don't want to dedicate the bandwidth to pushing it to both the Note 3 (which as I understand was just pushed) AND the Note 4 at the same time (the mentality being them not wanting THAT many users all pulling an update at the same time, slowing things to a crawl)?

I doubt that is the case. If memory serves me right, the note 3 and the gs4 both receive kitkat at the same time. I personally think it just arrived late for them and they were not done with it in time. If you look at it, only sprint got the note 4 update out right now. Verizon nor ATT made any noise on it...and verizon was first to drop lollipop in the US with the Gs5

Keeping Root with Insurance Replacement

I have a Verizon Galaxy Note 3. with Android Version: 4.3, Jellybean... I have avoided updating to Kitkat since I had heard that it was "unrootable" at this point.
Recently, I cracked the screen on my phone and would like to get an insurance replacement from Asurion. I am worried that I may get a phone from them with Kitkat on it. (or maybe even Lollipop?)
What are my options for keeping root?
IF I get a phone that still has Jellybean on it, is my best option for getting Lollipop+Root, to install Safestrap on my phone, and then install something like JasmineROM?
Thanks!
This happened to me. They'll send you one with 5.0 or 4.4.4 NK1. Ended up just buying an LG G3 full retail and keeping the note 3 as a spare.

I would personally look into the cost of having your screen replaced.
Asurion is going to charge you $100. deductible if I'm not mistaken.
Plus you will more than likely get a phone with at least 4.4.4 on it and maybe even lollipop. Neither of which will be rootable, 4.4.2 was the last version that is rootable at this point.

4.4.4 and maybe 5.0 are rootable just not public

I moved up to the Note 3 from the S3 because the charging port quite working and Asurion wanted $150 deductible. It's no longer worth having the insurance if they're going to start charging 1/3 of the cost of a new phone plus the monthly fee.

No offense dude, but it sounds like your talking out your ass. If it's the vulnerability that I am thinking about that was specifically pointing out 4.4.4 aosp, that has been around for months now and was posted for all to see here sometime ago. I'll give a more detailed response, probably should have did that from the start . Its broad anywhere/settings intent; the system passes it privileges to an app when adding an account. Using this we can push the required binaries for su access. There's probably other ways to do this as well. This Is also present in both 4.4.4 and 5.0
So when I said I'm working on it I'm creating an application that will carry the pay load and carry out the code.
Don't worry, I'm not going to ruin my reputation with false root claims. Its coming one way or another.

Good luck to you.
I've got faith in CovXX getting this done. The vulnerability has been know for several months, but nobody has attempted to use it on the Note 3 before, that's why it's not happened yet. Most devs working on root have jumped ship to the Note 4 or other phones prior to 4.4.4 being released on the Note 3. It's good to have at least one dev remaining to attempt it.

No love for the Note Pro. :crying:
Can't say I'm surprised. I was just happy to get it to 5.x. I'd be willing to be Samsung is going to sit on their hand for a bit to see if Apple releases iPad Pro sales figures and if they're good they'll build an updated Note Pro 12.2.

Meh. I'm satisfied with what I've got. If an update in hardware specs comes out in 2016 I'll consider an upgrade but otherwise this thing runs fine. Google now on tap is cool but not something that I can't live without.

To me it is 3 months older than my S6 edge and I paid top dollar for the SOB! It should get at least one major update to the next gen OS. Mine came with Lollipop. It is not at all a reach whatsoever to expect Marshmallow.

It came out in February 2014.
If memory serves, years ago (i think it was google i/o 2011?) Google asked major manufacturers to commit to update support for a period of 18 months after launch of a device. Since the note pro was announced in January of 2014 we are well beyond that time frame so yeah, it's not a surprise to not see a 6.0 update coming.

I'm in no hurry for Marshmallow. I was all geeked up about getting Lollipop. It looks different, but I have seen no difference in battery life or performance in coming from KitKat. Unless Marshmallow is going to introduce something really new (not just be a matter of a few internal changes and a new skin) then I'm good with continuing to use Lollipop.
I'm actually downgrading back to KitKat tonight just so I can root again. =(

Meh . . As an advanced user with a rooted device and a few useful tools (Greenify and Amplify for Xposed) I'm able to get standby power consumption on my wifi Note Pro down to a near negligible trickle. I just forgot my Note Pro at the office last night; having unplugged it from the charger at 100% I failed to put it into my bag before leaving for the night. I just got back to the office 12hrs later to find the tablet at 97% . . it had sat on wifi the whole time and my emails were still all synced.
No doubt that for the average user who doesn't want to go through the effort or doesn't want to root Doze takes a lot of the effort out of accomplishing better battery life. Good stuff for sure, just not necessarily mind blowingly good IMO.
It's posts like these that manufacturers never pay attention to. They are in the business of making NEW product. They do NoT see profit in supporting previously sold product. Sad and myopic.
But...the note pro 12.2 has hardware specs that are hard to beat.
I can see the little guy in Korea going crazy trying to figure out how to monetize having made a great product that people, get this, "want to keep".

T-Mobile says Note 4 MM released

Here's the answer I just got on Twitter, copied below.

Hey there Steven! I completely understand where you're coming from there, because the Marshmallow update hugely improves android phones! Believe it or not, the Android 6.0 has already started rolling out to customers with the Note 4! The thing I've noticed though so far is that there is no way to force the update onto the phone. I do suggest following the update document for your Note 4, and follow the portion for updating via Samsung Smart Switch on a PC. I've personally seen a few people able to update to Android 6.0 on the Note 4 by doing this, but in some situations we do have to wait for the update to push out in an OTA update (over the air update). Here's a link for how to update your phone in multiple ways: http://t-mo.co/1Brc5CC and here's the phone list of phones currently pushing out the Android 6.0 update: http://t-mo.co/17OlLdK If you have any questions let me know! *KennethD

[Q] Verizon Galaxy S7 Nougat update.

Hi everybody.
Do anybody know when Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Nougat update and reason to delay?
I cannot make sense ever major provider(such as AT&T,Tmobile,Sprint) is updated but Not Verizon.
Thanks.
I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon didn't get the update until after the announcement/release of the S8.

Yep. It's really disappointing.
Why? Because f**k us, that's why!
Likely just an issue of them taking their sweet-assed time putting their bloatware applications into the firmware, and I'm sure they've been extra slow after the official 7.0 worldwide rollout started and was halted for a whole like 2-3 days after a couple of bugs surfaced.
I always get a new phone by the time Verizon gives me an update. I know someone that got nougat on his T-Mobile GS7 Edge and someone that got her GS7 update last night on Sprint.

I don't think it's related to Verizon bloat considering the turbo 2 is getting the update now. I'm really annoyed that one of the top selling, highest rated phones of the year is taking this long to update.

This! Get it together verizon, every other S7 is getting the update why aren't we? Kinda furstrating and makes me want to leave verizon or starting purchasing unlocked models so I can root them and get updates on a regular basis instead of waiting for Verizon to release an official.
Le Sigh
Verizon has always been one of the last (if not the last) to roll out updates.

bent over and took it!:laugh:
My wife just got her first smartphone and it was the Droid Moto Z Force and it already has Nougat on it. Jealous! That thing is monstrous in its size too. Bigger than my LG G3 was!
Stuck on buggy beta
It would be nice to receive the final update after being stuck on the beta for months, where every time my phone shuts off it resets all my settings and themes. But oh well, I guess Verizon just doesn't care about their customers all that much.

They have so many they probably don't give a f*
So I've got a link I'd like to share but I've never posted on here before so I need to post approximately 10 posts before I am able to post outside links. So I'm gonna go post on a couple things and once I'm able to I shall share the link with you guys.

Could you tell us what the link is? Or maybe how to find it ourselves?

That beta was unbearable. Constantly had issues with text messages on it for some reason. They would keep failing to send and I would miss messages from people as well. Very annoying.
