[ADT-1] source and ROM's
Do we have source for the ADT-1 anywhere? Also what is the likelyhood of custom ROM's on this? I know that the specs seem to be the same as the MADcatz MOJO. Any info in this feild would be helpful Thanks guys <3

Well... sadly we don't have much. I have slapped together a factory image, but nothing official.
Custom ROM... maybe. CM compiled generically for arm-v7a refuses to even boot to a boot logo.
But, I am working on a flashable zip that contains the normal android version of GNL, Play services, and the Play store, and required labs for generic tasks. In my current testing, it runs pretty great!

That's what I figured :/ BTW I'm not a total noob as this post kinda makes me seem I am an android security researcher by trade. I really want to see the power of this device unleashed so anything I can do to help throw my way I'm more than happy to do anything from testing to fuzzing to building. Lets make this little box as awesome as the random pyramid things make it look!

Is there a way to flash recovery without the dev cable? I have torn my house apart looking for it but I can't seem to find it anywhere?

I found the dev cable and got the ROM loaded. It's works great and I'm excited to start using this device again. One question I have is there a way to add support for BT speakers? I have a sound bar I would love to pair. No luck with the ROM and the original ROM did not support it either.

If you are serious about Android then be prepared to read - that is the one thing which will separate you from the average user.
To get you started you will need to know a few basics before you can start contributing to a community which has dedicated themselves in bringing better Operating Systems (Roms) to our phones. By knowing these basic steps you will be able to help iron out bugs from whatever Rom you have decided to keep on your phone and thus, improving your own user experience.
If you are completely new to this then you should read Glevitan's Starter Guide. It contains everything you need to know and it is a mandatory prerequisite before you can post in this thread seaking help.
Now that you have read and understood some of the terminology and how to recover from possible issues, you can root your phone with the A high-level DHD/Inspire manual S-OFF hack concept for advanced users [NOTE: The AAHK HAS BEEN RETIRED FOR NOOBS. IT IS FOR ADVANCE USERS ONLY. REFER TO THIS STICKY INSTEAD [How to] ROOT without the Hack Kit] Even if you do encounter issues, knowing the terminology, what you did and what went wrong will help communicating your issue so we can find a way to solve it. If you read the starter guide you should know that we don't recommend using HTC dev to unlock your bootloader. However, if you did go this route you can read this helpful guide: [NOOB] Flashing a custom ROM & getting it to boot IF bootloader is htcdev unlocked. And finally, our own resident and esteemed Glevitan is working on a tool to make it easier for you all. [ROOT] [TOOL] Easy Ace Root Tool
After having spent some time in the XDA threads reading a lot more than what you should post, you will have realized that almost any question you could possibly think about has already been asked over a dozen times and why so many emphasize the importance of searching for your answer first. You would also come to realize what are the benefits of setting up ADB. Among one of ADB (Android debug Bridge - [GUIDE] ADB - Usage, Tips, Tricks and More! and [GUIDE]ADB Workshop and Guide for everyone) uses is creating logcats. These logcats help developers finding what is causing a bug and how to fix it. This is a quick [Tutorial] How To Logcat. However, this quick tutorial will only help you get started. Keep in mind that apps like aLogcat or Catlog could shorten important output from the log. Another one: Learn to logcat like a Pro!
To be able to help developers create a better user experience for us, we need to create a bug report. The reason why we first need to search the forum is to avoid confusing the developer by cluttering the thread with repeated reports, of bugs and questions which as mentioned earlier, most likely have already been asked. To have a better understanding of the different instances we can create logs, then have a look at: [TUT]Report a bug I do believe this can not be emphasized enough and thus, what better way than reading it from existz own words.

ABSTRACT
The present document pretends to guide the noobs and not so noobs in their flashing / modding / theming way. It covers what the team thought is the basic stuff you should be in knowledge of and may be the most helpful. Any suggestions about the contents or stuff that you think should be included are welcomed, just let us know.
Guide Index
1.Basic Stuff: In this section you will find the common language that is related to Android / HTC Ace devices. This is fundamental for you to understand how things work.
2.Rooting: THIS IS OUT OF SERVICE...CHECK THE UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER TOOL IN PARAGRAPH 4
3.Fixing a messed bootloader: You are not good at listening advices or reading for comprehension. You flashed a froyo RUU or hboot in your GB shipped device? Thank God attn1 was around. This is the Hboot fix for you. All credits go for the Hack Kit Channel devs. I have not done anything but put it here
4.HTCDEV tool: So far, this is the best and only way to do the flashing stuff....
5.Unrooting: In case you need to take your phone to the service centre or lost your mind and want the stock rom back (is there anybody that actually does? :cyclops ) you will find everything you need to know here.
6.Flashing roms: The right steps to flash successfully a custom rom…you can´t miss it. If you do, then you haven´t read carefully.
7.Doing / Restoring a nandroid backup: In case you mess it or you don't like what you get on a new rom, a nand backup is what will save your A**. Follow the path and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel.
8.Radio / RILs: All the radio / RILs related issues, follow this or you will regret it!!
9.Kernels: Everything you always wanted to know about kernels but you didn't dare to ask. Links on line now..:silly:
10.Trouble shooting: I guess this will be the most visited section of the guide. OF COURSE YOU DIDN´T READ THE ABOVE. NOW YOU ARE HERE BUDDY FIX YOURSELF A GOOD READ
11.Customization: For those who would like to start customizing your devices, here you will find a good point of start but THIS IS JUST THE BEGUINNING [/QUOTE]
12.Battery drain issues: I HAVE FLASHED A NEW ROM AND MY BATTERY IS DRAINING WAY TO FASSSSSST!. Well that could be normal, just read and learn before you run out of battery...lol

FAQ & Notice
FAQ :
What Is the Best Battery,Performance GB/ICS/JB ROM?
There is no best ROM, the opinion of each ROM is different from one person to the other, it is subjective.
Is there a recommended Radio for ROM x?
There isn't a recommended radio for any ROM, since the Radio depends where you live, it is best to test each one for a few days to see which one works best for you.
Can I Flash RIL For AOSP ROM?
No, the RIL is sense based ROM,AOSP RIL is provided in the ROM
How Can I Boot in Recovery/Bootloader if My Volume Rocker is Broken?
You must setup adb and then the command:
adb reboot recovery/bootloader
Why Don't We Have Any OFFICIAL CM9 ROM?
Because the CM team always makes everything work (camera, camcorder, etc) and since we don't have the kernel 3.0 source, there isn't any OFFICIAL CM ROM from them.
Is There Any Official Rooted Sense 3.0 ROM?
Yes, There it is
Notice when Posting On the Dev Thread :
Please Read the First Post, It Usually Stated What's Working and Not Working
Don't Post Any THANKS, just use the thanks button
Don't Even Ask ETA of the ROM, the ROM will update when it's ready
Full Wipe Is Recommended when Updating the ROM, but also can try it without (this is basic, even if it's not stated on 1st post)
ADB is easy, very simple to use. Its the CLI interface that most cannot get used to and are afraid of.
A great XDA guide/overview on ADB here. --> [GUIDE] ADB - Usage, Tips, Tricks and More!
After a full wipe including sd card, to restore a backup mount sd card to pc, create the folder "clockworkmod/backup" place backup there - unmount, flash.
Is there a way to flash a backup using adb? If yes, do the folders need to be created or not and what would the command be? I couldn't find an answer for that.
Edit: Answer is no. Why? I have no clue.

@Guy - what happened buddy? In the previous page I suggested a few things. Apps? It depends what the others think. I don't see this as a standard.
@miukkuman - where are you?
By the way, where are you from? What do you know to do in the android world or what are you interested in learning?

ok, before sending the file via PM, I can answer you...there's no choice of restoring a backup from adb. That is the same as flashing a Custom Rom....those files are packed in a certain way that won't be possible to be flashed in hboot (PD98IMG.zip) way.

Thanks bub, so no can do. I don't believe in 'no can do's
Did you read my question about the hboot interface in the other thread? This, and the above question is simply a language (which I know absolutely nothing about) - there must be a way to get them talking to each other.

Can you look through the ones I posted to see which are good and if there are any ones that are repetitive or if there are better ones than the ones I posted? Greets to all
Greets to all from another noob. Well, not a complete noob but a noob here on XDA given my few posts. My deep thanks for allowing a thread where sometimes there just might not be such a thing as a stupid question but honest ones instead,.... Hoping I can contribute something here as an owner of a softbank DHD here in Kyoto, Japan aka the 001HT. I spend alot of time trying to dig up general info from all over the i'net to help answer questions especially for ACE owners so I hope that might be of some help. Grant Barker's homepage is a great resource, (hope its allowed to mention that~). My first minor contribution------ 64GB MicroSD card usage with the DHD. It may already be well-known but for all us noobs who aren't too sure make no mistake..... I have the SanDisk Class 10 64GB MicroSD card and it works flawlessly in my DHD. Since I like to pack lots of MP3's and several full-length HD movies into my handset (helps keep the kids quiet on long drives ) being able to have that much storage space is a blessing! So, just to reiterate, 64GB microSD card--- no problems!

Thanks for the feedback Blashpemer666, hopefully you manage to refrain yourself in front of the kids.
Absolutely, we were all noobs, still are and probably remain being noobs. There is too much information to cover and too little time to do it in. We here are just trying to return to the community what they have given us by helping the new members whenever they need it and whenever we can, to the best of our knowledge, by pointing them in the right direction. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Check the second post, it has been updated.

Your Developers Need You

Developers always need access to reliable testers to make sure the quality of their work is fantastic. However finding decent testers can often take too much time, as unfortunately not everyone knows how to be a reliable tester.
This is why I have started this thread. It will not teach you how to be a tester, however it will say what you need to be able to do to be a tester.
It will also allow other developers to find willing and reliable testers who post in this thread.
So.. What is expected of a tester.
Patience:
Obviously everyone wants to get things fast, and testers are normally first in line for the latest and greatest. However we can't just hit a button and it's magically done the next second.
Knowledge in how to do stuff
Stuff is such a vague word.
You need to know how to take decent logs (logcats, kmsg's, etc).
You need to know how to use adb and fastboot reliably.
You need to know how to flash a rom, (a bonus if you know how to fix a zip if it's not built properly).
Speak the native language of your developer fluently.
This isn't required, but it will speed up the testing process a lot.
How to change individual system files quickly.
This would be for hot patches. So if gps is spamming massively, the developer will send a file that will stop gps logging as much
If you can manage everything in the above list, the great! post on this list with the words "Hey Ho, I can test!". It will enable developers to search those words and find all willing testers.
An open freenode channel has been set up at #MotoE
A development freenode channel has been set up at #MotoE-dev
weblink
Open placements for testers
This post will contain any open positions to be a testers. Message me if you wish to add to here
Bring ups for rom. Things required:
know how to take backups, and restore phone from softbrick
know how to flash a rom, and fix any issues in the flashing process
know how to take logs
reserved
There are currently 3 known variants to the Moto E. There may be more out there.
We will need testers from each variant so unified builds can be done
Well I'll surely test as soon as my device comes to my place
EDIT: For Logcat, I'll recommend new users to follow thisguide
I m in first priority is the custom recovery and then kernel source code

I need someone to test a Xposed Module.
It is a theme in best description and works like T-Mobile themes for CM and other such roms.
Simple Install, activate in Xposed, Choose what you want to theme and what not and reboot.
Theme Name : Samsung TW Theme[S 5 Style]
Its still a WIP and many things remain stock.
Its stable though.
Anyone interested then please PM me.
Requirements : Your device should be rooted, you should have xposed installed and you must be eager to test and help.
Thank you to all those who extend their hand for help.
I would be needing only on tester. So once I get one I will post.
I have already tried it on my Galaxy Tab CM11 and its working good.
I haven't yet rooted my Moto E so need someone else to test.

Q&A for [ROM][LRX21M] Android 5.0 (AOSP - android5.0_r2) for Nexus 4 [R3.0 - 09Nov]
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM][LRX21M] Android 5.0 (AOSP - android5.0_r2) for Nexus 4 [R3.0 - 09Nov]. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.

Did you clean flash?
Yes, and that is the only thing not working so far.
Any reason why the "couldn't find widget" error is in place of search in the overview menu?

Is it error code -112? Would recommend posting logcat to the Creator. He might look into it.
How do i do that?

It's ok. They will help you there. Or else do a clean flash again. Because I don't have any such issue.

I think 17% is not WiFi bug. People are having more than 60-70%. I may be wrong.
thank you for the reply

I have PA Gapps 3-08 running fine on recent Cyanogen Mod 11 port for the T330NU with no issue..
However the PA GAPPs developer (TKruzze) no longer makes GAPPs packages..
If you have the latest PA GAPPs, it should work..

W, hey okay i add mtp to my todo list though i don't own a computer that mtp would actually work on, so it'll be guesswork.
Also now that sound is sorted, i'll take a look at the magnetic cover thingamawhatzit. Though i like to turn my screen
on and off the old fashioned way. :silly:
You folks don't expect too much more, I do have other stuff I have to get to.

Sure, i've never had a magnetic cover, the basic idea is closed screen off, and open screen on right ?
also can you test out bluetoothiness, keyboard, i've never done audio streaming so i don't know much to that end.

Z,
hi, i have no issue but, i also maintain my tab regularly with sdmaid, you may need to clear out battery stats.
Also, are you running the rom with or without the kernel update? Lastly how many background processes do you
have running?

Z,
hi again :silly:
you can run in terminal
ps
also you can also connect via adb and run adb shell, then as root [su] run
powertop
i say to do that one through adb because it doesn't display correctly and is kind of unmanagable in the tab's
terminal window.
Also try modifying you performance settings, on the updated kernel you should be set to ondemand/cfq

Umm, because it's not overclocked.
Also skip the powertop approach, i forgot to config in the kernel, i'll get that in the next build.
I know nothing about overclocking, yet.

Okay thanks looking forward to updates for this rom. Also I was wondering.. For the ROMs for the t530 tabs like the cm12 one they now have. What would need to be done to get it booting... I heard all the ROMs with the same board need is a working kernel.. Idk if that's right but if it is would the kernel for this ROM get the cm 12 ROM booting or does it need a new one?

For the most part that's somewhat true correct, however i haven't bothered because the roms are being packaged with the block setup
as opposed to the tried and true way and i just don't have the patience to unpack that setup and repack it.
To be truthful i think i've gotten addicted to this stuff in a slightly mentally unstable kind of way :silly:
And as such am running multiple projects at once, so if you want to chip in on trying that approach, downoad one of the
sm-t53xx builds, get it unpacked and repacked cm11 style and link me to it, a respectable site, not 4shared or dumbass gator
or any place like that, and i'll see what i can do. my current attempts with bliss keep breaking at camerawrapper issues and gps issues.

How to build AOSP Oreo 8.0.0 for the Moto G6 (not G6 Plus, but just the G6)

I have a Moto G6 device that I need to build a ROM for and I am pretty much stuck at the point where I need to include the proprietary device drivers so that I can compile the ROM. I guess my main issue is knowing where to get the proprietary files and how to incorporate them into my ROM. The device has a separate "/vendor" partition (for Treble compliance) that I was able to use TWRP and ADB to copy the files to my PC by running TWRP and then using ADB PULL command "adb pull /vendor D:\ALI\vendor" to get the files into a folder on my PC and was successful in doing that, but now what? What do I do with them? I downloaded from git the AOSP source for the last build of Oreo (8.0.0_36), so I hope that in itself is correct.
In the past, I have built a custom ROM for the Moto G4 via LineageOS 14.1, so I had a lot of info on how to grab the drivers from a device that was already running LineageOS 14.1, but this Moto G6 is running stock Oreo (8.0.0), so I am at a loss on whether or not I grabbed them from the device properly and now that I have them in folders on my PC what do I do with them and how do I set up the device tree so that I can get AOSP to compile.
So what do I do next and how?
I dont know if you've seen this and sorry if it doesn't help you at all. https://source.android.com/setup/develop/new-device

Honestly, this should have been posted in the Q&A Section, and the title is a little misleading. Just saying.
Anyway, as far as building goes, you have a lot of reading and learning to do. It'll take a lot more than that link the other user provided above as that's more for OEM's (but will give you somewhat of an understanding of what it's gonna take to put together a device, kernel, and vendor trees).
There is a lot of info regarding building ROMs for devices here on xda. I'd recommend reading thru those threads/posts for some insight.

OK, thank you, and sorry for posting in the wrong area. It appears that I need to know more in-depth about the actual hardware and what drivers are needed and where they need to go. So more research it is.
