DT vs 13" Macbook Pro (3ft drop) - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

So I'm on vacation and I got a lil drunk. And I left my phone and laptop on a flimsy table. I accidently nudge the table and what do you know... My phone drops and lands on its screen... But then my heavy macbook pro retina (13-14lbs) drops 3ft corner first right on the back of my phone. I pick it up and inspect the back where it hit. A indentation not too noticeable unless you really focus on it but you can feel it so I was relieved. But then I turned it over. Shattered and non responsive. Screen did not turn on. Kinda disappointed it didn't stand up to it but it did save my laptop. Moral of the story... Leave electronics as close to the ground as possible when drinking.

Why would you be disappointed this happened? It's logical the phone wouldn't work with it being struck by 14 lbs all in one concentrated force which was the corner of the Macbook. Most likely the internal chassis and motherboard got highly damaged hence why no response.

Yeah expected... Mine had a similar fall but it just cracked the screen but phone still worked... Anyways why bother when Virizon/Motorola is gonna replace it for free for you!

In other news, glass breaks.

Good news is.. free replacement for a cracked screen in the first year!!

Are these scratches or what...?

Earlier when I turned my G1 over, I found multiple lines on the back of the battery cover, I have no idea what they are but they obviously don't look very good. The phone has always been kept in a case and only today have I noticed them. I have a white G1 so the cover is a light bronze color. The lines resemble lines made by a pen very lightly. However, after applying alcohol (hand sanitizer), water, soap and intense rubbing it will not come off. Has anyone ever scratched their cover? What does it look like? I know this is a very... strange question to ask haha.

suppose we can't really tell unless you get us some pics
my guess is, it's either a scratch or a crack.
I cant take any pics... they don't show up very well in the picture. But ah well, my Shield Skin comes in a few days, and new themes will be released in like a week from the competition to make me feel better. In the end I will probably end up just buying another battery case for 10 bucks off eBay. Must be my OCD haha.

Screen Slide issue

i'm not sure how this started, most likely a drop, but occasionally a spring will appear underneath my screen, and sliding becomes difficult. it seems i can get the spring back in place by putting downward pressure on the screen when sliding, but this only works for so long. i cant imagine the slide portion is difficult to remove, but does anyone have any advice on this issue? thanks.

That is one of the springs that hold the keyboard open, don't try to pull it out. With the slide open you should see the 2 springs on the backside of the screen. To take it apart you need to go in through the battery compartment. There is about 3 levels to get thhrough before you get to the screen. About 10 months ago I replaced the screen, I found avideo walk through on youtube that helps.

good luck with that man...let me know how it goes!
you should be a protective case to prevent things like that happening
thanks guys. i havent actually done anything with this yet. a couple days ago that spring just fell out, and nothing at all seems to be different. i saved the spring in case i feel like putting it back in, in which case ill post on it.

Shartered screen fixed!

So about 10 days ago I dropped my brand new HTC Magic, about a week old at that point. I was shocked when I picked it up that the glass screen was shattered! I've had a Tytn and Tytn II and dropped it from two floors up onto concrete and it was fine, this was a 5ft drop and it was screwed. Wasn't happy with that but anyway wasn't going to throw $400 out the window, found a screen on ebay and ordered it from Hong Kong, got it 5 days later and we are back up and running!!
Took about 45min to replace the screen, everything seems to be working fine.
The lesson is they don't make them like they used to but at least you can fix it pretty easily.

Wow very nice, how long did it take you to replace the screen?
I'm looking to replace my screen as well. How easy/hard was it to dismantle the phone to get at the screen?
wow strange, I've dropped my phone too from about that same height, and it survived with small scratches at the top left and right corners. So I guess it depends on how it lands... Nice job fixing it, looks as new almost.
Glad to hear all was okay in the end.

[Q] Lots of dead pixels

Hi all!
I've had my streak since august now, and lately it has developed some screen weirdness in the upper corners. It started in the upper left corner, but it didn't bother me (i can still press the menu-button up there). Now it has duplicated to the upper right corner, and that bothers me some more - i can't see what time it is..
Is there anyone else who's experiencing this kind of problem? Does anyone have a clue what the dell return policy would be in this case? I live in Norway, so i'm not sure i want to return it if the dead pixel patches doesn't grow.. (i'll probably have to pay tax for the phone when they return it in the mail!)

Looks like your LCD broke underneath the glass. It should be covered under warranty, though they might make things difficult for you if there is any visible damage to the outside.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Seems like you have your streak on the trouser pockets most of the time, and in that time seems like it has been pushed against the screen for so long that the pixels are burning... Just my tought. don't know if this is cover under warranty but you can probably get away with it because there is no sign of misuse.

Screen softness?

I've had the phone for 24 hours now, and I've already noticed a lot of tiny scratches at the top of the display (by the camera/2nd screen). Several of these scratches go right across the camera, and they all seem to be going vertically up and down the glass right at the curve point. I truly haven't set this phone down screen side down, and the only thing I can think of is it getting scratched going in and out of my jeans. I keep it in my right front pocket all by itself. I'm super disappointed in the glass so far. Anyone else have this issue?
Edit: Photo's.

Mine did as well, I removed it first thing because it had 4 small bubbles in the middle of the display. I just figured it was for transport like every other phone comes with. I'll post photos in my original post.
