Elix-R ROM Port? - Nexus 9 General

Hi, I'm the developer of the series of ROMS called Elix-R for the nexus 5 and 6. I see that the nexus 9 has no ROMS like its kind and was wondering how many of you would be interested in me porting over Elix-R for the nexus 9. I only own a nexus 5 and will be doing the porting blindly (With a few testers), I did the same with the nexus 6 and it was a great success (First of its kind ROM), and i'm fairly certain I can do the same for the Nexus 9.
NEXUS 6 ELIX-R ROM
NEXUS 5 ELIX-R ROM

Of course! New Roms are always appreciated. Would be nice to have some more options after my exams this Friday I could test far you.

Hyperrunner? I'm interested in this.

The ROM looks great. I would love to try it on my N9.

Looks awesome! Will try it out as soon as its released.

If you're looking for potential testers, I'd be more than willing to help.

You are very welcome here sir!

Of course! Always nice to have different roms!

The more the merrier. Would love to have a rom that would allow changing the height of the navbar.

Yes a port would be great

I would be glad to test the rom for you! Would really appreciate if this rom would make his way in this forum!

Oh god. Yes. Please. My friend is still rocking ur rom on the nexus 5 i gave him ...

I would love to test this rom!

Yes please

you got me
i will test
hehehe

Would love some Elix-R love!

What's the deal with the hundreds of ROMs???

The Nexus 7 has so many ROMs it is almost overwhelming. I have tried so many, but at the end I end up un installing. Why? Because they do not update from Goo Manager app. You have to hunt down the updates every couple of days. Hell, sometimes the "developer" only makes a couple of versions then abandons the project.
I learned about the Android Original Development Section, those ROMs are more unique and are not just copies from each other. They can be more unstable though.
I want a Pure AOSP untouched, that is able to be updated from Goo Manager, pre rooted. Any recommendations?

Hundreds? I count 15 ROMs for the Nexus 7 here on XDA, and that's both development section added together. One of them even states that it's a pure AOSP ROM. Being able to update on Goo Manager isn't going to be something you just run into as being common on all ROMs. At least right now. I currently have 3 active devices, and I flash constantly. I think I have come across one ROM between them all that had any association with Goo Manager. That should change as it gets more widely adopted.
This is just beginning, too. Go take a look at how many ROMs there are for a device like the EVO 4G. There is 64 pages of ROMs for that device. The Nexus 7 only has 3. You're in for a rough ride if you think there's already too many.
AOKP all the way!
They have been making some very nice roms and shortly they should have a Nexus 7.
There are a lot of crap ROMs out there. If it's not Cyanogenmod then I'm not installing it.

I know! Some of them just change the boot animation and wallpaper and they call it a rom! Stop wasting our time.

Hundreds? Yeah mate, you need help with your math. Try going to the S2 or S3 section, then take a look at roms. Even then, why does it offend you? Just choose what you want and go with it. Some cater towards some peoples tastes and other roms, to other peoples. Isn't that the best part of having such an ecosystem?
Plus, the rom you just linked *could* be seen as fairly outdated now seeing as it was updated over a month ago.

I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of XDA. It's a developer community. A lot of people are here to learn how to develop for Android. What you may see as waste of your time, could have been a pretty big deal to the person that cooked it. XDA isn't here to provide you with the most awesome ROM for your device. It's hear for learning and supporting developers. Who in most cases are nice enough to share their work with the public. If you don't like it, don't flash it. But don't start ragging on ROMs/devs because you aren't happy with what they did.
Best solution EVER. If you don't like what's there...grab some coffee and your reading glasses and learn how to make your own ROM that is exactly what you want it to be. Otherwise be grateful for the intelligent and amazing folks on here that give up their time and energy to provide you with free tools, ROMs, apps, hacks, and advice.

Or you could, you know, just update it yourself. It's not like you don't know how to flash hundreds of roms.
Lol, my old galaxy ace had 500 ROMs and they were all based on the same CM7 and had one ICS theme or another.

My Migration from gs3

Hi all, I am coming from the gs3, to be specific task650 AOKP ROM... I have been reading for days and have yet pin point a stable AOKP... If anyone has a great suggestions please let me know thanks. Jewell

There are at least a half dozen builds in the dev section. This is a nexus. They are all stable. We have sources unlike your last device. Everything is compiled, not ported. Pick one.
There are plenty stable ROMs out there. Just look. Its basically a personal preference. Mine is Paranoid Android.

PACROM for the Google Nexus 5 (Hammerhead)?

Hola
Of all the custom roms available I always seek out PACROM. The sheer number of customizations you folks offer are second to none! Any website or forum thread where one can find out when an official release is going to be available or at least a discussion on it?
Thanks for the hard work and time on continuing this.
"So what you want me to do 'bout that?"
We already have maintainers for the N5. And for PAC 4.4, check our gerrit or github for progress

What exactly does that mean as far as Pac Rom availability for the Nexus 5?

That there is already someone assigned to set up PAC 4.4 for Nexus 5, and as soon as Nightlies starts to be released you will have it. PAC team is already merging somethings before release builds

A maintainer is someone who is working on and will eventually post the release correct? I did notice PA nightlies get released so hopefully Pac will come out soon.
You can build the rom yourself from source. I've been using it for a bit and its working well.
Awww I almost thought this was the official ROM for the Nexus 5 because Google wasn't showing the entire title in the search. Can't wait for this!
sign me up too
Any updates on the progress of this?
Definitely can't wait till it hits my best friend has it on his Atrix HD and loves it guess I will stick with beanstalk till it drops

looking forward to pacrom! as im new to the custom rom world im extremely excited having never experienced it
As much as I want PACROM, I know that it's probably going to be a while till we get it. PA and AOKP both don't even have all their features for hammerhead yet weird since the nexus line is as open as it gets lol

Actually, we are pretty close to a release and just have some settings related stuff to sort out before we release. The release of features from roms like PA do not have any impact on our release timeline as those features will be merged into PAC after they have finished/released it. As for your device being a Nexus, this again does not affect the release timeline for your device. Features are added onto Android itself, not ported to each device individually.
Oh this is great to hear... Been waiting since I got my n5 to hear some news for Pacman on it...
First used Pac on my blaze, than my s3.... Cannot wait for my N5 to get it!!
pacman is one of my favorite roms by far. because its a mashup of everything and you get so much more. I cant wait till it drops so i can flash on my N5
I'm wondering how the merge will go for CM into PAC considering they made all these changes to the core and kernel and many major kernel devs have given up support for it... Hope it's extra features can be merged successfully...
Sent from my Nexus 5
I built from what they have on github and they already have the CM features implemented. There's not much else but that's understandable seeing the shape of PA and AOKP with their features but I don't think adding CM features is going to be to difficult
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Any new news on this...?? CM just had their 3rd milestone...
Sent from my Nexus 5
Its all good. The longer it takes to release, the better it will be (hopefully, right)... PA and AOKP both are still working on their own features as well.

me too

Haha that's a Banana republic....Nobody wants to support my galaxy chat
But I guess moto g is not samsung's That makes it special
I feel that the only reason Samsung release so many similar yet multiple devices is to stop developers to focus on them...that way we have to buy new devices
Mayb out of context but my pentium dual core pc with a cheap graphic card and cheap extra ram works pretty nicely with windows 8

The Moto G will get done if a few developers decide to do so. The best thing is to have an unofficial port first of all then polish it up so it doesn't rely on ugly hacks and a fully functional rom can be built using the CyanogenMod repo. Then it can be submitted to the CyanogenMod team for evaluation. If it passes then it could be official.
So developers, let's be having you!

I'm looking forward to omni more than cm tbh. I don't like the direction CM is going, they have changed a lot recently. It took them so long just to get a stable 4.3.

Yep, Omni looks very promising. Saying this as a long-time CM fan.
Important thing is that we can see a couple of first-class devs flocking here.
I'd rather have OmniROM but the more the merrier.
Voted as well, i'm getting a G next week so Cyanogen support is welcome even if i won't flash it others will.

Question on Custom Roms

Always wanted a Nexus but availability issues has stopped me. The 6P will be the first Nexus to launch locally and I really want to get it. However, I've heard ParanoidAndroid(fav. custom rom) is no longer in the scene and are working with OnePlus now. What other customs roms are still operating other than Cyanogen? Which would be recommended for Nexus devices? I know PA was more or less exclusively on Nexus/OnePlus devices.
Go look in the nexus 6 section for an idea of what will be here

Nice, why didn't I think of that. I suppose CM is the most popular rom for N6?
Cm would be popular but most ROMs are going to layers instead of cm theme engine as it's native in marshmallow on nexus ... So a lot of ROMs like slim and pure nexus are very popular
6.0 also has native multi task
Pa still has builds but not much going on there as a lot of their big things never got merged

Check out Chroma. By far the best Nexus 6 rom and he has bought a 6p and will be updating the rom for it.
Nice rom from what I can tell. Any word if zeph will be updating it to 6P?
EDIT : Seems like he bought a 6P and will be developing for it. Excellent. Might have just confirmed by purchase.

I made my purchase the first day in which preorders became available, it'll arrive by October 27-28. Marshmallow will be coming out this week, so I'll be working on Marshmallow when I have the time, Nexus 6 (2014) should start receiving builds and once the 6P arrives (I selected 1 day shipping), I'll start working on making the ROM compatible with N6P which shouldn't be too difficult.
Hope to see you there

The 6P will be the first Nexus we will be getting locally but I don't think it will be as fast as the US. I suspect builds will already be out before I get it. Looking forward!:good:
@sacredsoul the roms and development will be endless for 3 to 4 years maybe for the huawei 6p. Endless!

No, and its app is available on Google Play. Welcome to XDA!
Definitely looking forward to getting back to using custom roms after being unable to with my last 2 phones having a locked bootloader (so they were limited).
Really disappointed Android Pay won't work with Custom Roms, but holding out hope someone will find a workaround.
Chroma and BeansTown(purenexus) ROM would probably be the best top two for customization and stability. And it looks like Chroma ROM will be coming for N6P =]
