[Q] Black screen on galaxy S II :( (not sure if it's a brick or not)

Hi pros, I owned a galaxy S II. I was happy with it and I suddenly wanted to upgrade as I wanted to keep up with the latest firmware. So I upgraded from Gingerbread 2.3.3 to 2.3.4. I downloaded the odin3 and I accessed the download mode so I started the upgrade. The upgrade was done but the phone didn't reboot! So I shut it down and rebooted and the phone turned like this

You guys need to read more before trying to flash stuff on your phones, thank god Samsung made this phone difficult to brick
Click here and read carefully before flashing
Bare in mind these roms are for the international version I9100

Actually, no. Your phone is different to the international SGSII. Get it from Samfirmware.
Mind you it's a 3 package odin flash. You select Code for PDA, Modem for Phone, and CSC for CSC. No repartition, no pit file. Also make sure to select the above files first, THEN connect your phone to the pc, and start the flashing.

Your best bet is to start over by flashing the stock MF3 files using ODIN. From there, re-root your phone, reinstall SafeStrap, and try again. You most likely flashed a non-TW based ROM... remember only TW roms work with SS right now.
If you have any other questions, I'll try to explain it in more detail.

First off, download ODIN 1.85 it seems to be the one that most people have the best luck with.
Grab the MF3 TAR files
Extract the MF3 files to a folder, say on your desktop. ie. MF3
Open ODIN and refer to this picture...

For more information about how to use ODIN you can refer to here, and here.
I've personally never had to use it, so my steps are only from general observation. You might want to double check yourself. So if anyone has has any other info to help him feel free to post.

If you have already taken the OTA to MJ5 then you are out of luck. The MJ5 Bootloader is different and will not allow you to downgrade in any way shape or form.

Now that sammobile has released the MI9 software I believe you can use kies to do an firmware upgrade and initialization. Which will actually downgrade MJ5 to MI9. You'll have to:
-open kies 3 without phone connected
-click on tools - firmware upgrade and initialization...
-type in all caps SM-N900A click ok
-type in the serial number
-put phone into download mode (hold home + volume down + power on)
-plug phone into PC
-click accept and continue without saving
No I haven't tried this yet. But the firmware is in kies now I can see.

As far as I know you can't downgrade MJ5 back to MI9 (you will get an error along the lines of "Fused 2> Binary 1")
Noob Question
Why is it worth downgrading to MI9? are there any exploits we can use?

Sorry for this rant I'm about to make.
Grrrrrr this effin bootloader schmoder crap! I've used kies for years with my note 1. I've soft bricked it a bunch of times. Kies made me feel safe that as long as I could get into download mode, I could recover with it. Now it's worthless. I don't blame Samsung, even though they are the ones that make kies. I blame Att for requesting samsung to lock the bootloader. It's all their fault. We need someone with a bootloader unlock leak, instead of a kit kat software leak!

[Q] Secure Download enabled???

Alright, so my AT&T S4 is on 5.0.1 lollipop and I need to root it. I don't have root access and muniz_ri's thread says that I need to flash back to NB1. Before I flash, I went to download mode and saw words that were in blue: Secure Download enabled. I'm not sure what it means, so I don't do anything yet, in case I mess something up. My point is that I need help on what that means and if it is safe to flash back.
Here's the picture:

Also, if you need better pictures, just tell me. Thanks for you help.
It's ok to flash back to nb1 and then use the keep root method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221

Thanks man, but I'm not so confident in doing it. Not sure if it will work or not.

You won't brick it. Just remember, if it goes into download mode it isn't bricked, lol. You can always recover from there.

EDIT: sorry, read the next one, this one is erased.

if something goes wrong, would this work to restore my phone? http://androidhost.org/QqPaj or https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934552137

If anything goes wrong you need to flash the nb1 tar file in Odin. Any update .zip is only flashable in the stock recovery. If something goes wrong you won't be able to boot into recovery, only download mode.
Edit, you don't need to search Google. Everything you need is in gutt13's Index, All things AT&T....

Man, you're worrying too much. You can always get back. Worst case is you ota back. It might take awhile as ota's come sequential. Just flash the nb1 tar in Odin. Boot up and it'll most likely want to ota right away to nc1. Let it do it. Then root with towelroot. Then use the keep root method to go up to oc3. Don't bother setting up the rest of your device, ie apps etc. Until you're back too lollipop.

Okay, sorry for annoying you but last question(hopefully), you sure the secure download enabled won't do anything right?

It do a lot!!! You can't load TWRP to phone via heimdall for example... You can flash it via Odin... if You have windows
Why not just use the KingRoot app or the PC program wondershare Go Pro to root?

Looking for stock rom. I'm bricked with download mode stuck at bootlogo. I made a backup prior bit cannot flash anything at all. I tried flashing .pit file still nothing. If I flash pit file with stock rom, I may get somewhere?

I had the same problem on a different phone if you go into the TW RP or CWM you should be able to do a factory reset that's the only way I was able to fix my other phone not being able to flash anything after brick so give that a shot and let me know what happens

I can't get Into recovery mode either. It gets stuck at the Grand prime splash screen with download mode in the upper left hand corner.

They did but not for the SM-S920L. There is still no rom including stock for this phone.
I'm not sure what that rom is. It was posted in the dev forum and op offered almost no details. All I know is that the file name is SM-S920L3.tar and it weighs in at 1.4GB.

In that case they must have put it up just recently. Things are starting to look up for us after all.
Maybe, I'm not going to be the guinea pig here and risk my phone on some unknown rom without a custom recovery available to backup and restore my phone should something go wrong.

Thanks, man! I'm having a few issues that I can live with with my phone, but if this works ok, I might just flash it. Oh, and I spoke with a few Straight Talk CS reps and they say that neither Tracfon, nor Samsung are going to release a stock ROM for 5.0.2. Perhaps some day we'll get an update to 5.1.1.
Ok so I it flashed in about 3 minutes for me with a pass. I noticed a set bit warranty: cache and system. I pulled the battery and then powered back on and got this:
