[WIP] Who wants full AOSP/CM12 (Android 5.0+) Support of the Moto G 2014? [XT1064/68] - G 2014 General

Hi everyone! You guys probably don't know me (Shawn5162) because I haven't been active in the Moto G 2014 forums (except for my restore tool for windows) but I am very active in other device forums such as the Galaxy S5, Note 10.1 2014 Edition, LG G3, etc. In those forums I am defiantly a recognized dev, mostly for porting or compiling ROMs . But the reason I landed in this forum is because I recently I got a new device...the Moto G 2014 and feel it is a great device. But to my shock there were NO great ROMs for this device (by no means am a hatting on the 1 or 2 ROMs here). And that's where I come into play. I am a dev who has a lot of experience with AOSP and compiling and thus want to bring forth a great AOSP ROM for this device. Now I there will be no problem building it as I have experience and if do run into any issue I can refer to the Moto G 2013 devs (since both devices share almost identical specs). Also the AOSP ROM will always be on the latest version of Android (I promise i'll try my best). After all, the good thing about AOSP ROMs is you can have great levels of customization. Now there is a slim chance of failure in the project (like 1% only because everything in life has a chance of failing) but if everything goes well you guys will have a great dev supporting a great ROM. Finally, thanks for your cooperation and I will keep you guys posted all the way.
Sincerely,
Shawn5162
Also if you guys want this project to happen...please comment in the XDA comment section below.

Best of luck Shawn.
If you make it, it would be Giant leap for Moto G

Awesome man..... I Really appreciate what u r doing for this community....

Coming from a nexus phone which broke and buying this device for the price, would be nice to see more roms.

I agree

The more, the merrier! Nothing wrong with having thriving development Hopefully once one of these kind of ROMs gets brought to the Moto G 2014, the rest will follow.

MOTO G 2014 Device need devs

Hey everyone out here .I wanna request the devs of this device to please look forward in building roms for moto g 2014 .
A month after the release only a single rom is been seen......hope there is someone who can look into the forum of moto g2
Pointless thread.
I don't know anything about Moto G 2014, from source perspective, but are they released the sources for different things for the device? Or are you here to call out the devs for making wonders in a land without source code?
Also, I remember when I got my Moto G 2013, first, there wasn't even a proper custom recovery image out there, only the superboot from MoDaCo, so patience my friend.
I agree there's no point in begging for developement. People will build if they want and when they want.
I agree dude but there's big difference between begging and requesting.
I now just came to know about the kernel sources not being released ...so devs might close the thread for good.
Thanks for replies friends.

Moto G 2014 will see custom roms after kernel source and lollipop release. Like others stated show some patience. In the meantime you can root and install xposed framework.

[REQ] Development Environment Setup for Moto G 2014

Hey there,
INTRO:
I'm a relatively new member to XDA and the Android Community as well. The Moto G (2014) is my first Android phone since ever. I was using iPhones (4,4S,5,5S), iPads and Mac and have Jailbroken and Developed Tweaks, Apps etc for iOS.
Now that I got my hands on this amazing device, I would love to contribute to the Community by developing and porting ROMs for the Moto G 2014.
WHAT? WHY?:
So if it isnt too much trouble could someone post a device-specific instructions, checklist and downloads to setup a development environment for Moto G (2014). I'm a pretty fast learner so any crude form of instructions would suffice. With the right heading and instructions I'm sure that I can contribute to this community.
PAST CONTRIBUTIONS:
If you're curious about what I've preciously done, just Google "Krishna Sagar iPhone" and you'll see. I've developed apps, Jailbreak tweaks and I've even been mentioned and credited by CNET.com for discovering the first solid evidence about 4G in the iPhone 5. (Before it was announced or released. Yea!! )
So any help at all is appreciated! You know.. Help Me to Help You!
Regards
Krishna Sagar
http://www.krishna.bz
PS: I've searched XDA and found some tutorials but I'm looking for some device specific instructions and downloads such as Device Tree, Kernal, ROM sources etc.. and crude up-to-date instructions on how to setup a Build-Environment. Thanks
Reserved by OP:
Once I get a working set of instruction and successfully setup my Dev Environment, I will post concise step-by-step instructions on how I set it up so that others can use it as a reference.
Okay....i just learned these things past month.
So tell me where you reached so that i can guide you.

I am at the very beginning... From the start would be great. Like i said.. I dont want a lengthy tutorial.. I'll find the instructions myself
For eg: just say setup Android Kitchen instead of walking me through the installation setup.
I just need a crude checklist to begin. I've doing some searxhing of my own.. But like i said, i need a bit more devicr specific approach!
Device specific approach would start once you have downloaded the repo.
Till then.... Approach for all the devices would be same.
Que: You are talking about building the rom from source right??
Or you just want to modify the stock rom!?

And where can I download these device repos?
For Porting ROMs : Usually ports are done from working Cyanogen build or AOSP build, which we doesn't have yet. But, k2wl and shawn are main developers working towards that. Once we get those fully working then only you will be able to port another roms.
Regarding Device Repo: It's required to build rom from source, not for porting one.
repo is a "Source Code" file, which is approx 25-30 GB in size.

Developing Discussion | ROM & Kernel Dev./Port.

Hi Everybody
after some weeks Trying developing ROM's and Kernels i almost Give up... the kernel developing to MTK SoC is too much different compared to qualcomm SoC's (To me at least...) after compile more than 10 kernels to Run at my phone i only get Bluetooth and Radio FM not working with random reboots annoying frequently... but a real modifications to get this phone more smooth usage fail every time...(if you only compile the original source kernel it will run exactly like original kernel...)
I'm too n0#b alone to get everything running at developing process(kernel or ROM dev.).. at qualcomm phones(Xperia Acro S and Xperia L), i get more things running correctly with much more help from others Developers... but not released anything because it will be more from the same as others releases...
so if anyone here have more knowledge about that developing process things i have the Kernel Source and ROM platform to our phone...
---
i already try make CM12.1 run too.. but don't boot =#.. and if get work soon will be too much unstable to release, like my kernels =#
i will try port CM12.1 from @fire855 using that tutorial
the other possibility is try make compile the CM12.1 using our sources with modification from this ROM
but i will need help to make it compile right =#
so.. i will like have a discussion about that process with you guys... if anyone have some experience to help our phone have more custom's things to don't be locked with Original stuff/performance only.. if anyone have a useful guide, video or tutorial to compile anything to MTK SoC's it will be great too :highfive:
I appreciate your effort! I don't know much about MTK personally, but there is a thread on 4pda about porting CM 12.1 to MTK processors.

already started try port CM12.1 ... but will not work too much things... almost every sensor will not work because that cross-firmwareOS port (CM Modules Drivers have a different compilation process =#) what i can do is try upgrade our source kernel using other MT6592 Sources to can compile the CM12 to our device... but again i will need find Module Updates drivers(blob) from other phones sources... =#
and my status with that right know is fixing a lot of errors while i compiling the kernel... i don't reach the inHouse ROM Compilation to than can get more Errors on logs to fix to release a simple Almost "stable" rom to how want test if it works properly to everyone... but don't push me to get that finished.. i work everyday and when i have time i try my best to develop that :highfive:
and release a unstable ROM/kernel is a wrong because maybe can brick someone phone because my errors (ramdisk modifications, and partition table map when installing the rom)... or we can wait BLU release the Lollipop with Hope because on twitter( @ UKkazam) tell me about no lollipop updates to this phone =#
i Tweeted to [@ KazamUK] asking they about lollipop updates and receive two replays... One say about newer updates to fix bugs on OS but not about lollipop and other saying "unfortunately, not upgrades to newer Android versions will be released"... otherwise [@ BLU_Products] Replay this "Please stay tuned on our social media for future updates, thanks!"... so... we have a faith about BLU brings Lollipop to our device? i don't have sure but with lucky it will happens :highfive:
...
and the porting CM12.1 ROM don't worked with me... bootloop =# and CatLog is extremely confuse =#
Kernel source link not working
I have an opportunity to make a PORT CM12 for BLU VIVO AIR in two days. A neighbor of mine bought a VIVO AIR and I will do whatever is necessary to get the ROM on the device.
I helped the BLU VIVO IV the users to have CM12. But as the device was not mine, so I could not fix some bugs. In the same epoch I talked to a BVA User and helped the kernel issue. He had given me feedback in relation to not have phone signal and not be able to replace the IMEI. But as I had no time, and the phone in my hands, the CM12 ROM stood with him.
Currently, it is quite possible that after CM12 MT6592 to be 95% stable in most of these devices Socs, the VIVO AIR may also have.
Once I have the device in hands, I'll let you guys know if CM12 can be available for all users VIVO AIR.
But if anyone know a actually already exist a ROM CM12 for VIVO AIR and clones.... Let me know...??
That would be awesome and I'm sure as me a lot of users are going to be happy about it

BlissRom for SM-T900

Hey everyone!
I have been blessed to recently get the Tab Pro 12.2 (SM-T900).. Amazing tablet!
I am on TeamBliss, and I am the dev for the great LG GProJ (rom & Official TWRP maintainer) & the Galaxy Note 10.1.. It took me a LONG time (and a lot of frustration) to get a perfect build of Bliss 5.1.1 for the Note 10.1, and before I get started on the 12.2, I wanted to see if the tablet is popular enough for me to post Bliss builds here.. I don't see many custom roms listed, so I wasn't sure if it was due to lack of devs or lack of users.. I would start with 5.1.1, and then try for 6.0 as it becomes more stable. I also enjoy adding features to the kernels, such as governors/schedulers and U/O Clocking.
Any input is appreciated!
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Would love to see BLISS ROM. I was hoping more devs would come over to build AOSP builds.
It looks like it is probably the only way we stand a chance to get Marshmallow on this device.
By all means, do it! I just finished up with finals, and was planning on seeing if I could figure out how to build marshmallow tomorrow haha. I was going to go from cm though. What is bliss rom?
Would love to see your ROM on my T900.

Go to www.BlissRoms.com, and you can see some stuff about us.. We've been around a while, and support a lot of devices..Bliss has tons of features..You can go to my two threads I listed in the first post and see lots of satisfied users.. Hopefully, I'll have a build listed tonight or tomorrow.
Would love to try this too. The 12.2 needs some love. Admittedly, Marshmallow is of greater interest though.
I have always wanted to try your rom! Please bring us Bliss lol.
Marshmallow on 12.2 would be so incredible.
Thank you so much for showing interest in the SMT900.
Yes please! Love my 12.2
lack of devs, not users. all new roms are welcome here. And will be appreciated
Yes! This beast of a tablet needs some Bliss. I am more than willing to test anything you would like to build for us.
Hey guys.. Sorry it's been a while since I posted.. So I've been working on a build in my free time, and I have a successful 5.1.1_r30 build I am testing now. I am an IT Admin full time, and have 6 year old son, so I don't have a lot of time, but I try to make time as much as I can.
I have updated the kernel from Linux 3.4.104 to 3.4.106, and added some governors and schedulers. I focused on governors specified for gaming, and a couple for battery/performance balance. I plan on getting the kernel updated to 3.4.110, but there are a ton of patches in between those versions. Over 700 if I remember right. I applied around 300 or more updating from 104 to 105 then 106.
I know we are up to 6.0 now, but since Bliss is still in the works for 6.0, I really wanted to get a stable 5.1 before moving on.
I will run the build overnight, and if all is good, I'll post tomorrow, so keep a lookout!

I'm tagging along this thread waiting for an official release. I'm still stuck on 4.4 been waiting for something "newer" can't afford to loose root.

I'm not suggesting she do the firmware blindly, I only expressed sadness. And so there's no alternative ROMs....

I know how you feel, the t-900 had no roms either besides cm12 until wargear started building and I learned how to make roms from stock firmware pulls. many devs will help you in building if you pm them nicely for the guilds/tools they use.
since you have the device you could always try to do it yourself https://www.google.com/search?q=how...2&ie=UTF-8#q=how+to+build+android+from+source
I am definitely ready for this rom. Recently went back to stock for added functionality but I hate touchwiz.
@nerdyblonde
just wonedering if you are using kitkat or lollipop sources from samsung to compile (bc if you are on 5.1.1 firmware you have some lags running roms built on kitkat stock sources and need to downgrade firmware to eliminate lags)

Welcome to the forum! Bliss is indeed a solid rom and a nice addition here. Like a couple others here I've been banging away at getting past 6.0s hardware and processor problems took forever to get a solid 5.11 build and hoped 6.0 would carrythrough.... alas not to be! Working on Cm Slim and Liquid all have the same f2fs build error... any shared info would be appreciated and cheerfully reciprocated!

Requirement of Paranoid Android Rom (AOSPA) for Moto G4 Plus

Hello everyone, the Paranoid Android (AOSPA) team has released their much awaited nougat 7.1.2 build for a handful of devices. Is it possible for the developers to port the rom to our Moto G4 Plus? If so, when can we expect to receive an official AOSPA rom for our device i.e Moto G4 Plus? Thanks in advance to the developers.
Athene is a pretty popular choice around ROMing. (LineageOS has 20795 installs on Athene) I would at least expect an unofficial build made by someone. Let's just hope they release an official build for Athene.
I have come to know that the team officially doesn't provide support for too many devices except Oneplus, Oppo, Pixel and the Nexus ones. So the chance of getting an official build is less. So in that case we have to look for an unofficial build.
Just wondering is there any update on Aospa for athene, official or unofficial?
:good:
Maybe this mean something. I dont know.
