T-Mo Edge and AT&T Edge supported LTE/UMTS bands/frequencies..... T-Mo good to go! - Note Edge General

T-Mo Edge and AT&T Edge supported LTE/UMTS bands/frequencies..... T-Mo good to go!
This is taken from Samsung's website:
AT&T Edge
2G GSM: GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900;
3G UMTS: B1(2100), B2(1900), B5(850);
4G FDD LTE: B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B17(700), B20(800);
T-Mobile Edge
2G GSM: GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900;
3G UMTS: B1(2100), B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850);
4G FDD LTE: B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700);
Note (pardon the pun) LTE band differences.
Framing the idea that many of us will use the T-Mobile Note Edge on AT&T's network, we want to ensure that the T-Mobile device can support current and future AT&T LTE frequencies.
Assuming that the data is correct (I've before seen many errors on Samsung's site), it seems like the AT&T Edge has 800Mhz and the T-Mobile does not. At the same time the T-Mobile has 900Mhz and the 700Mhz is listed twice as two bands, I don't know why.
I found this elsewhere:
AT&T 4G HSPA and HSPA+ use 850Mhz(Band 5) and 1900Mhz(Band 2) bands but it all depends on area if they own a license. LTE uses Band 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz) currently.
Conclusion: It looks like the T-Mobile device covers it.....

I also saw that on the Samsung site. I have an att edge(with time to return) and will be getting the tmobile version soon. I just need root. Lol

my att note edge shows i connected to LTE band 2 and band 17.
tmobile edge shows it supports LTE band 2 and band 17 too.

i just bought Tmobile Edge on ebay, i going to sell my ATT Edge.
My ATT Edge is not very responsive sometime.
Going to remove lots of craps from Tmobile Edge should help improve the responsiveness.

Nice!
I ordered my Edge from TMO earlier. Found a TMO $30 off coupon code online and got the free Plantronics headset they ate giving w the phone right now. I just need to get an unlock code once I get it. It can't get here soon enough. I was just sitting here playing Boom Beach and had to exit/minimize the game to see my email notification. Hah!
I got a 50% of coupon from Samsung by registering my Note2 on my Samsung online account, so i also ordered the Samsung Edge Spare Battery Kit. I also ordered the a UAG case for it.
Christmas is coming early for me! haha!

If you bought it today, it was the one I was looking at. I got distracted and the bidding ended. Not many on ebay for sale.
I need to get a tmobile one soon and return my att model. Need root.

When I called TMO yesterday to order my Edge, the rep said they had plenty in stock. I was able to buy the phone for $840, after a coupon code, and I also received a free Plantronics headset with it. They put me on the $40/mo 500mb starter plan and told me I can cancel the plan after 30days, and then they will giver me an unlock code. However, I plan to unlock it w a 3rd party unlock service to immediately unlock the phone.

Where did u get the coupon code?

I don't recall the site, but the code I used is "RMN30". Also, i just called to check the order status and was told they are on a 10-14 day back order, but for $840 I can wait.

no unlocked code included. but i earn $17 "Ebay Bucks" to spend on ebay.
so it' 885-17=868$.
and i use Discover card to pay, "supposed to" get 5% cashback on online order.

Nice!
I was just browsing evilbay and see a few but they are listed as having a "bad" imei. Not sure what that means but I suppose it means the imei is in use or will be used on another person's account. Kind of makes me nervous to jump on one from evilbay...

I know one that is for sale that the buyer says it is for T-Mobile only. Not unlockable. I asked him why it was and he has it on a payment plan so its not paid off and can't be unlocked. I wonder if a third party unlocking company could still do it.

If he pays the balance owed on the phone, when you pay him, then they will unlock it. I would think one of the 3rd party unlock providers may be able to do it, but i'm not sure.
This is from TMO's website....
Unlock Eligibility for Monthly Phones and Tablets
The device must have been active on the T-Mobile network for at least 40 days on the requesting line.
If the device is financed using T-Mobile’s Equipment Installment Plan (EIP), all payments must be satisfied and the device must be paid in full.

Will the T-Mobile version work on Verizon?

TMO + N1 = Crappy International Phone

I am going to be headed over to Taiwan and China for the next couple of weeks so I called TMO to get an international plan to receive data. Well turns it out THERE IS NO SUCH PLAN and that each 1mb of data equals $15. Yeah I could put in a local SIM card but that won't give email and internet. And why should I, the N1 is touted as an international phone. This news was thoroughly disappointing because I will now have to rely on my crappy Blackberry for email (which is the reason I switched to Android in the first place). If there any international travelers here please let me know if there are any tricks that I should be aware of. Otherwise this is disappointing that a GSM phone can be used outside the US only if you willing to be bent over the table without any... you get the point.
i went to australia earlier this year and encountered the same problem.their international plans suck major ass.only thing i could do was pull sim card and run off wifi using any hotspots that i could find.
yea blame T-Mobile...I'm curious what other carrier in the US has a international roaming plan?

One of the reasons I have TMO is because of their fantastic international roaming coverage. That is why I was surprised to see that they have none for the Nexus.
As far as international roaming plans, every carrier does, just not for the Android. So yeah I'm putting that blame on TMO and Google.
I'm pretty sure every carrier has insane pricing for international roaming.
The benefit of gsm phones is that you pop a sim card for wherever you're going, not that you're carrier will support you in east bumblefuck.
All carriers are like that. That is why when the iphone first came out people were returning home with $3K phone bills. http://boingboing.net/2007/07/31/att-iphone-intl-roam.html
http://gizmodo.com/297999/idiots-keep-incurring-iphones-roaming-data-charges
The phone is an international phone but the plans aren't. Get a SIM with a data plan. When I go overseas that is what I do. Typically $100 will give you unlimited data and enough minutes and texts to last your whole trip. At the end of a trip overseas I usually have minutes left over.
Yeah, I don't see why you think you won't get internet over there from a local phone company, since they would be the one providing internet to you anyways with your T-Mobile card (They just charge T-Mobile a small amount, and T-Mobile jacks up the price to make money off you).
Just get a pre-paid sim card with internet access.

I'd recommend you to buy a new prepaid sim card with a data plan.
Here in India, we get a new sim card for Rs.20 (every street has ~5 shops) and 2GB data for Rs.90 and there are no stupid contracts (even if there were, we'd buy it on fake identities)... Thats the benefit of living in a developing nation
1 American Dollar = 45 Indian Rupees...

+1 Same thing here if you were visiting Australia. You can buy a Telstra prepaid sim for $2 which when charged with some credit gives you exceptional coverage and good data speed. Works best on the 900mhz AT&T phone although will still work well on the 850mhz T-Mobile model.
Thanks everyone for your feedback, much appreciated.

Ah yes sorry. Had that rrrrrs about. Should have said "Works best on the 850mhz AT&T phone although will still work well on the 900mhz T-Mobile model."
The phone is a fine international phone. The carrier sucks. How is the phone to blame if TMO doesn't offer an international plan?
I travel from Romania to Netherlands and every time i'm in Netherlands i insert my prepaid Vodafone NL card and i activate the internet for 10 euros. 500mb - 1GB of data per month.
If i'm using more than that i buy again for another 10 euros. Is that simple. That's what you should do. A local prepaid sim with an internet service is ALWAYS going to be cheaper than an international plan from TMO.
too bad you guys in US have very bad telcos, here in malaysia we can roam data for less than USD10 unlimited data per day.
but of course not in all countries in the world.

$10 x 365 days = $3,650 per year. Geez you must have deep pockets. You can buy a car for that in Australia.
Do you perhaps mean $10 per month or $1 per day?

He's talking about roaming... If you do that without a dataplan a couple of hundred megs would probably set you back several thousand $.
Yeah, ditto re: getting a prepaid SIM card on arrival. I haven't tried it in Asia, but in the UK, £5 will buy you 1GB of data to be used in 30 days, on Vodafone. I didn't even have to pay for the SIM card itself. Very pleased.
If you speak the language in China, just go to a China Mobile store, pick up a SIM card and put some yuan in it and you'll be good to go. I go to China every summer and have taken my G1 and my N1. You'll be stuck on edge but its enough to get you places. China Mobile stores are everywhere too, some have employees that speak english for just this purpose.
I pick up pre-paid SIM cards when I land at the airport in the airport store... Or if it's an area I'm familiar with, i.e. Australia, I just head to a local carrier's B&M once I'm in the city...
Then anyone who is half-way important... I send them an e-mail with my pre-paid SIM card's number. If it's important to text or call me, the caller can pay the Int'l charges.
Cheers,
Kermee

[Q] The best pay as you go in US

Hi everybody!
Looking for some advice from US members.
I'm gonna travel in US for almost a month: couple weeks at Hawaii and couple weeks for LA, SF and NY.
Could somebody suggest a best pay as you go plan for this trip not for calls but for unlimited data or something looks like unlimited. I got Nexus S 3G. And is there this roaming prices or it doesn't matter where you actually is in US?
PS: Surely I can look through all the networks websites but I just thought that locals should know this and the answer won't take much time.
Thanks!
T-Mobile USA offers a no-contract package for US$30 a month that gives you 100 minutes talk, unlimited (to the US) SMS and unlimited 3g data (speeds throttled to 2g after 5gb use).
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/monthly-4g-plans
Nationwide coverage, roaming included. You might have to pay the activation fee (usually US$35) but that's about the only option in the US that is GSM, works with any unlocked phone, and offers what you're looking for.
Thanks a lot! That's what I needed
Cheers!

This won't work for a Nexus S though (Boost is CDMA I believe)... and the shrinkage wouldn't happen for a long time. I'm on the $30 a month T-Mobile one and it works great! Make sure you have the right radios for your phone to work on T-Mobile though. Also, the plan does come with 4G (at least if you consider HSPA+ 4G...). Otherwise, AT&T will give you 500 MB on prepaid for $25 a month and you can combine that with a few options for text and talk. The only problem with the T-Mobile deal is that it is online only (unless you get it at Walmart), so you will have to go a few days without service while you wait for your sim to arrive.

IS there some special radio required?
AT&T with 25$ for 500 Mb is not even close to T-Mobile's offer.
Probably I have to order sim few days prior arrival. Does Walmart always have these sim's in stock?
What I didn't get is how to buy this plan. There is no option to buy simcard with this plan. So do I have to buy just simcard without a plan than activate it and choose a plan? If so why I can't do it by buing sim at tmobile office?
There are Walmart stores all across the country. When you buy it there they'll give you the activated sim right there in store. US GSM carriers toss the sim in free when you buy the plan... part of the activation fee. And no special radios required. T-Mobile uses the international 3g bands. Its at&t that uses weird frequencies

t-mobile phone on at&t 3/4g???

I have a G2x and have NOOOOO data where I live currently. I tried to cancel my contract (because I was told being in the military you send a copy of your orders you can cancel without a fee) but t-mobile won't do it.
I have the G2x set to roam and I pick up some edge service (I assume at&t)
I know the G2x doesn't have at&ts 4g band.
I read an article about the HTC amaze being able to hop on at&t and pick up 4g signal. Is there any old cheap T-mobile phone I can unlock to pick up at&t's 3g with ? I don't need 4g, I just want some service.
I have a family plan with my wife and I can't afford $400 in termination fees and $200-$400 in phones with verizon. Any valid input would be greatly appreciated.
No there is nothing cheap that will do that, and no phone will do it with the T-mobile SIM card in it. Doesn't the G2X have wi-fi calling? The Amaze and Tmobile GS2 can have ATT radios flashed to them, but they will only pick up 3G and 4G with an ATT sim.
No cell company will cancel your contract with military orders. If you show them orders for deployment or an extended TDY they will suspend your contract, but not cancel it.
Thanks for the response. There was a guy in my shop that said he didn't have service at work and they let him off (I guess the rep has a choice?)
As far as wifi calling I just put gingerbread on today so now I have wifi calling. My wife has an old POS phone (because tmobile upgrade her contract when they weren't supposed to...don't get me started on that I'm am SOOO mad a T-mobile.)
So I can't buy a AT&T 3g phone unlock it and put a T-mobile sim in? So I get access to the data I'm paying for every month?

I know the G2x doesn't have the proper radio to pick up at&t 3g/4g. I was wondering if any other phone did. I read this article
http://phandroid.com/2011/11/08/t-mobiles-htc-amaze-4g-compatible-with-att-3g4g/
It states that somebody on this forum actually used the tmobile htc amaze on at&t 3g/4g network. Is there any truth to this ?
ahhhhhh....I just noticed it said with at&t sim card. Setting the phone to roam with a tmobile sim would essentially do the same thing no ?
Have you gotten the updated SIM card?

The T-mobile Galaxy S II, Amaze and Galaxy Nexus will all work and give you HSPA+ on both AT&T and T-mobile assuming the devices are unlocked
What about trading someone plans or something? Like I'm thinking of trading for a T-Mobile phone since I got the $30 prepaid plan but only get Edge on my D3.

Beware the N7100/N7105 UK Con

I hit the high street today in search of an N7105 to go on three's network with the hope of being 4G ready, this is what I found
1) I went into a 3 store and got to play with a real "3" note 2, this was an N7100 despite "3's" customer service promising me that it was 4G ready for sure, it turns out they are currently only stocking the N7100 what is really bad is that 3 are pushing the fact that they are upgrading their network to DC-HSDPA (theoretical 42 Mbps real world 15 mbps) but regarding Samsungs the only DC-HSDPA phone available are the Galaxy S3 LTE and the Note 2 LTE, so the regular note 2 will not be able to make the best of "3s" newly enhanced network.
2) I went into phones 4U as independent phone shops buy their own phones and so in theory will be able to sell you an N7105 on any network you want. This was even worse! where as T-mobile/Orange customers are getting the N7105 direct from their provider if they either start up new contracts or upgrade, if you sign up to a new contract or upgrade via phones 4U they are dishing out the N7100, they don't have any N7105's in stock and when they get them they will be exclusively dishing them out to people signing up to new contracts on EE.
If I was with T-Mobile/Orange and got an N7100 through phones 4U when I was meant to get an N7105 I would be very unimpressed.
this is no news at all. the LTE phones available in UK now are designed to work with EE network 4G frequencies. your taking a big gamble buying one and hoping it will work with a specific network next year. and as s general advice dont believe what the sales representative will tell you. do your research before going into the shop.

Sorry to say but, you're wrong.
It's well known what frequencies will be used and the n7105 will work on all of them, plus as the op said it has dc-h+ which means you can get unlimited near 4g speeds with all you can eat data from Three for as little as £12.90 pcm.
It's £509 for the phone.
£12 to unlock
Clearly the best option for the money conscious data hog.
And OP you might not be able to get an n7105 from anyone other than EE for sometime, or they might appear tomorrow. It has about the same likelihood of the 32gb version turning up.
(Actually Samsung might have said the 32 isn't coming? I'm not sure on that one?)

pointless for me to have LTE. Don't live anywhere near a 4G area, the prices are a complete ripoff & by the time it arrives my contract will be up then and i will getting the note 3
Personally, I wouldn't bother with 4G in the UK. Where I live, which is a heavy population (Milton Keynes,) 4G is expected to hit in 2 years; which, by then i'll probably have the note 4

Its not so much the 4g I'm bothered about... its more the resale value of a 3g phone in 2 years when all the networks are running 4g as standard ...

OP, I have the GT-N7100 on Three and last weekend Three upgraded their network near me. My speeds went up from the usual 3Mbps/4Mbps to between 15Mbps/16Mbps which is "near" "real" 4G speeds without the extra OTT EE cost.
So, in fact the regular note 2 will be able to make the best of "3s" newly enhanced network.
I'm more than happy with that Free from Three.

Wow, is that really HSPA+21?

My area which is in Central London also provides speeds of up to 15mb/s.
And that's 7100. HSPA+ 21.
Just shows that 3 are very competitive, and they give free data.

I get HSDPA ("H" on signal bar) Screenshot
And now I also now get HSPAP (H+ on signal bar) Screenshot
Speedtest taken a few mins ago HERE
Needless to say, I am very happy now.
Interesting comments,
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S2, I regularly get 8 ish Mbps on three's network and once got a real 15 Mbps in liverpool, So im hoping that they are being conservative on their DC-HSDPA speed advertisements, but even double what I get now would be excellent.
this is no news at all. the LTE phones available in UK now are designed to work with EE network 4G frequencies. your taking a big gamble buying one and hoping it will work with a specific network next year. and as s general advice dont believe what the sales representative will tell you. do your research before going into the shop.

I don't think it is a gamble, as i'm confident that 3 will be sharing T-mobiles 4G network ( they already share their 3G network) see here for proof on that.
http://www.mbnl.co.uk/about.php
and this from the BBC
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19786041
the important bit being
The UK's fourth biggest network - Three - is set to take over part of EE's 4G spectrum, but is not due to do so until September 2013.

Further, because of the network sharing it seems likely that EE are also about to get DC-HSDPA, which means they are doing right by their customers handing out N7105's even to customers that are only on 3G tariffs (unless you get your phone from phones 4U, in which case you are being parmed off with an N7100)
Reports say you can get the n7105 from ee for 459. Go get it and be happy. Unless you like custom roms and want them NOW.

I got an N1705 as an upgrade from T-Mobile. Unfortunately there's not going to be any 4G round my way for a while.

Go direct to EE they have it for £499
N7105 in the UK
You're all dreaming......There is no where in any of the Uk stores (t mobile, orange, EE, phones 4 U etc) where you can buy the N7105 for £499 or £450 or any of the prices quoted here.....period! You cannot get it on Pay as you go, and the only way to get it sim free through the retailers is to pay top whack at £999 at a Samsung store or go for a pay monthly contract with EE for a min. of 12 months. Online the best bet in the UK with all the taxes paid etc. is at prepaymania.co.uk at £563 or chance it on eBay and they're currently fetching about £510 but you'll need to buy an unlock code on top of this. So......as of today in the UK that's the best you'll get for the LTE Note II
Sorry haven't read whole post so apologies if this is a repeat.
The tmobile people said it's exclusive to EE until next summer. So other providers will have to latch off EE if they want it. This will mean increased premiums or lower speeds. In terms of phones I'm with tmob and I got the 7105 and upgrade to 4G thingy was £5 extra pm (didn't go for it as I don't need the speeds).

I bought mine from an Orange shop for 509 sometime ago. I read two reports they'll let yo walk away with it for 459. Both those prices include a mandatory £10 top up.
I read a report of it this device being unlocked by a third party for £12.
Im not dreaming.

What Note 3 should I go for?

I'm currently with Verizon but my contract doesn't end until another year and I'm not eligible for an upgrade either, although I'm not so sure if I want to sign another 2 year contract. I want to buy the Note 3 but I'll have to pay full price and I'm not sure if I should go for the Verizon version or the International one since I'm already going to be paying full price... What do you guys suggest? Thanks.
What is coverage like in your area for AT&T and T-Mobile? Try OpenSignal's app to see coverage maps from all the providers and see if a GSM device would be right for you. An unlocked GSM phone will work on either AT&T or T-Mobile. I bought my original Note on an AT&T contract and paid ETF earlier this year, unlocked it, and went to a T-Mobile prepaid plan. It is working out great for me, $30 for 5GB data is awesome but I'm in Kansas City area which is one of T-Mo's LTE areas. Problem is that prepaid plans don't count as acceptable service for discounts on T-Mo devices apparently. I want to get the Note 3 but they said it would be $740 instead of $700 due to having prepaid vs. postpaid. I'm still probably going to buy it after AOSP based ROMs start showing up. Loved the hardware when I played around with the demo unit but the software was just messy...never been a fan of Touchwiz, it lasted all of a week on my Note 1 before CM took its place.

Verizon has the best coverage in my area and also the best speeds. I had Sprint before and it was horrible. I also had AT&T before they went LTE but my brother has it and I always get better signal than him or faster speeds. T-Mobile should be below AT&T if i'm not mistaken but I should check their coverage like you said. So International phones are only GSM? The International Note 3 wouldn't work on Verizon?
Yeah, International are GSM phones, Sprint and Verizon aren't compatible I don't think (unless LTE changed this).
