Figured There are people who just got i9001 and don't understand the sometimes weird instructions on the net or even on this forum for flashing,repairing bricks,renewing ROMs,fixing parts on your ROM ,etc.
I was one of them.Didn't get anything. Now i'll show you:
A:Flashing-what is Odin,CWMR,TWRP,FeaMod,etc?
these are all tools that will help you get programs,firmware(ROMs),and other stuff on your phone which is called "flashing" not like "flashing" as in formatting.each is used differently and has different purposes:
A-1din Multidownloader
for the i9001,you should get the Odin Multidownloader 4.43 with a file in the size of a kilobyte. this 1 kilobyte file has information on how to set partition sizes for the i9001 and is very important.this file is named AriesVE.ops which always comes in a .zip style.Download :http://www.multiupload.com/Q7WWHMVK3M.
AriesVE is the "Developer" name for the i9001.
using Odin is very easypen Odin,there is a button that says "OPS" and above it says "select OPS" .press the button and find the AriesVE.ops you downloaded and unzipped,select it.Then turn your phone OFF,press PowerButton+VolumeDown+HomeButton TOGETHER until you boot in a page with a green android bot and a note under it saying "Downloading... Please do not turn off Target!!!" . this is the Download mode.plug your phone into your PC, wait for updates to download and apply, and if they give errors and especially errors for not finding the "odin" windows update,try another USB port.wait until a COM Port is turned yellow with a COM and a series of numbers following.that means your phone is connected.there is a "One Package" button in the bottom of the Odin Window,that's for flashing a single .tar.md5 file which contains important ROM parts or even is a complete ROM itself.for repairing different parts of a ROM,find the fixes for each part,download the .smd or .tar or .tar.md5 files,then select them in odin under these buttons(Odin buttons on the left):
bootloaders(.tar)==>BOOT
MODEM files(.smd)==>PHONE
carrier customization files(.smd)==>CSC
Android Operating System Components(.smd)==>PDA
different parts in a ROM which is not completely zipped can be flashed using these parts as well.
Parts in a Rom:
BOOT - The bootloader that initializes the phone and loads Android. This part is the most critical, if a faulty bootloader is written to your phone, it will be bricked.
PDA - The Android operating system including the Linux kernel, libraries, frameworks and system apps.
MODEM/PHONE - This part holds a firmware driver for one of the most important hardware part of your phone, the GSM radio transmitter.
CSC - Carrier Customization, contains regional settings for by your carrier like keyboard localisations or internet APN settings. In rare cases flashing a ROM from a different region like Asia will not have the settings you need and you will have to manually enter your APN configuration.
after you have chosen your file(s), press the Start button.flashing a ROM will take about 5-10 or even 15 minutes.So be Patient when using Odin.Flashing other stuff might take max. 4-5 minutes.
Sometimes Flashing can cause into going into a BootLoop.BootLoop is when your device boots and then boots again or is stuck on some level booting operation. read this thread and you find the way to fix it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660596
A-2:CWMR(ClockWorkModRecovery)

first i need to tell you what Recovery Mode IS:
A-2-1:Recovery Mode:
Recovery mode is used to install system updates in form of update.zip files (such as the one for rooting your phone), performing a factory reset and wiping the cache. Once you replace the stock recovery with a more advanced recovery, you will also be able to install custom ROMs, make backups and much more.

To enter recovery mode, turn off the phone, connect the USB cable, and then hold down Volume Up + Power.
If done properly, the phone will show the SAMSUNG and Galaxy S Plus screens and then end up at the "Android out of the box screen". Now press Menu to enter recovery mode.
The options for actually performing recovery when something is wrong with your phone are very limited with the stock recovery that comes preinstalled on your phone. However, you have the option to replace it with a much better, fully-featured recovery called "ClockworkMod Recovery" (CWM).
Getting into recovery mode can be a bit fiddly and you might need several tries. Connecting the USB cable makes it a lot easier. CWM recovery does not have this problem and boots reliably. If you are still having problems getting into recovery mode, download Easy Reboot Recovery.zip, unpack and run RebootRecovery.bat while your phone is connected with the USB cable. The phone will reboot into recovery mode.
Navigation in recovery mode is done using the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to scroll up and down in lists and the Home button for choosing an item. Sometimes a simple push of the Home button is interpreted as two pushes so be careful.
Recovery mode is a separate partition on your device (#13) that holds its own minimal Android system with a kernel and a small set of tools.
A-2-2:How to Install CWM Recovery instead of the stock:
download the http://www.mediafire.com/?6qtveztq9997b6n and put it on your sdcard.turn your phone off and boot into recovery.then "install zip from sdcard">"choose zip from sdcard">find th CWM Recovery.zip file and select it>navigate through the various "No"s>press "Yes">wait for it to install>reboot recovery>You're in CWMR.Congrats!
I Prefer the CWM Recovery.
A-3:TeamWinRecoveryProject(TWRP):
The TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP) is an advanced recovery with a graphical user interface that is navigated using the touchscreen. It offers all the functionality of CWM Recovery and additionally also allows for compressed backups (saves up to 50% space), has a graphical file manager, battery percentage indicator and clock, install queues for installing several zips at once, mounting of SD cards on your PC via USB in recovery and more. download from http://www.mediafire.com/?6nb6clnwn9w1247 and install exactly like CWMR.
B:CyanogenMod
CyanogenMod,is a Custom ROM which is the IceCreamSandwich Firmware for the Abondoned GalaxyS Plus.after ICS came out for multiple devices, the i9001 users were disappointed when there was only a value pack Gingerbread 2.3.6 coming for the i9001. CyanogenMod Developers Ported ICS to the Device(arco68) which came to have a LOT of support and feedback by the users.Multiple fixes have been made and a lot of stuff has changed like bugs.a lot of 'em have been fixed.
B-1:CyanogenMod7:
CyanogenMod 7.2 (based on Android 2.3 / Gingerbread) is being ported to i9001 by YardE, skywalker01 and mazen912.
In the latest CM7 build all phone components work except for FM Radio and WiFi tethering.
The latest CM7 build is:
CM 7.2 fixed2.1 by mazen912 (June 6th, 2012).
Install the zip using arco's CWM recovery by doing wipe data/factory reset and then install zip from sdcard.
After that install the gapps.zip from recovery to have the Google apps.
B-2:CyanogenMod9:
CyanogenMod 9 (based on Android 4 / Ice Cream Sandwich) is being ported to i9001 by arco68 (forum thread).
The latest build is 2012-08-29: CM9 alpha8.

All major components of the I9001 work except for FM radio (however, experimental solutions are available for those).
Installation:
Back up your apps with TitaniumBackup. Backup your SMS with SMS Backup & Restore and your call logs with Call log Backup & Restore. Export your contacts to a .vcf file.
First a special version of CWM recovery is needed, FeaMod does not work because it does not set partition sizes for CyanogenMod 9 correctly. The new recovery can restore FeaMod Recovery backups in case you want to return to one later. There are many ways how to install the recovery, choose one:
Flash CWM5504-CM9-recovery.zip inside FeaMod (boot into recovery, apply update from sdcard) or stock recovery
or use Quickflasher from broodplank:
Connect phone via USB, start sgsflasher_x86.exe, activate "Flash a new Recovery", select the recovery.img and press "Start Now".
or use Odin to flash recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ariesve.tar.md5 as One Package using the regular AriesVE.ops (Tutorial)
or flash recovery.img using the command line/adb by putting it on your sdcard and executing the commands:

su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13
CyanogenMod9 comes as a zip that is installed inside recovery. Download update-cm-9-20120606-SNAPSHOT-ariesve-alpha4-signed.zip and put it on your sdcard.
Reboot into CWM Recovery
Perform a backup!
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Cache partition
Advanced > Wipe dalvik cache
Install zip from sdcard (choose update-cm-9-20120606-SNAPSHOT-ariesve-alpha4-signed.zip)
Flash the gapps package inside recovery in order to have Google Play etc. (cannot be shipped together with CyanogenMod due to legal reasons)
Restore your backed-up apps, sms, call logs and contacts. DO NOT restore old Gingerbread system apps and be careful when restoring app data.

Always START Here
Fully Charge your Phone before Flashing
To Check battery level, (WITHOUT plugging in the USB cable).
type *#0228# in the phone dialer, and Voltage value is AT LEAST 3800 (mV).
Check list before attempting to flash a ROM
1) Correct ROM or kernel or required files for device was downloaded
2) Battery was fully Charged
3) Every thing Important was backed up to PC or Ext SD card or Cloud.
a) efs backup
b) Use Call logs Backup, SMS backup. App Backup from Play store and or simply copy everything How to save files to your PC Note:-
It's assumed that you can and know how to connect your Phone to PC with USB cable .
If you do not know, first install Samsung USB drivers on your PC/Laptop, than enable USB debugging on your phone by settings menu > Developer options > tick USB Debugging.
After this use only Samsung USB cable and plug it into your phone micro USB port and to your PC USB Port. ( Always use the Back USB port on PC as some ports may not connect well enough for flashing ROM's. )

How to put your device in "recovery" or "download" modes on Galaxy S i9000?
Volume UP + HOME + POWER will take you to recovery mode
Volume DOWN + HOME + POWER will take you to download modeUse Combo Key Press
Combo buttons must be used as shown above to get your phone into RECOVERY MODE or DOWNLOAD MODE
What if your recovery or download modes cannot be achieved by combo key press on your device?
You can achieve it by methods suggested in My Android Solutions or by using a USB JIG.
Only Rooting or Flashing Kernels or Modems
Follow this, when your phone has a Froyo ROM and you just want to Root or Root and also have CWM
Needed Download for Froyo ROM:-
If you only want root on your Froyo ROM, just install z4root app
If you want root and CWM download a Speedmod Kernel and Flash to get CWM and Root your Froyo ROM. After flashing the speedMod kernel
1) Boot into recovery menu ( VolumeUp+Home+Power)
2) Select "Advanced features" ( Universal Lag Fix menu)
3) Select "Install Superuser" to be rooted
Follow this when your phone has a Gingerbread ROM and you only want Root or Root Plus CWM
Needed Download for Gingerbread 2.3.6 ROM:-
If you are looking at, only Root for your i9000 phone, it can be easily done with Framaroot app. (Its so easy these days)
But if you wish to have CWM recovery too, than flash a Semaphore Kernel or CF Root Kernel to achieve it.
i9000 Semaphore Kernels for Gingerbread, ICS or Jelly Bean & Kit Kat(select according to Version of ROM and chose the latest will be good enough )
i9000 CF Root Kernels for Gingerbread (select according to Version of ROM eg XWJW4 will also work for XWJW6 & XWJW9) )
Odin3 Flashing Tool ( attached below)How to Flash Kernels?Normal Flashing Method :-
Procedure:
1. Fire up Odin3 on your PC and ensure KIES is not running on your PC by killing (Kies.exe , KiesTrayAgent.exe, and KiesPDLR.exe) using Task Manager
2. Put the phone to the Download Mode by pressing (VolumeDown+Home+Power) buttons
and connect the phone to your PC (your phone should be recognized)
3. now select PDA and choose the kernel you had downloaded
4. press Start Button. Do not press anything else or interrupt it, wait for flashing process to complete and phone will reboot
That's it you have now rooted your phone as well as have CWM Recovery. When you have NO access to a Computer or USB Cable
Procedure:-
When you do not have a PC or a USB cable to work with, you can flash Kernels, Modems and even ROM's by using certain Apps like Mobile Odin, Flashify , Flash Gordon or any kernel flashing apps from Play store . So download and install them on your Phone. Detailed guide
In a nut shell, for safety reasons Mobile odin cannot be used to Flash a pit or EFS file, but all others are easily done from your phone without the need to use your PC. Hence CWM can be flashed with a Kernel meant for your phone and from here you can update to ICS or Jelly Bean without a PC or USB cable.
To make it simple
1) Copy File to your SD card (Rom, kernel , or flash files in .tar format)
2) Run Mobile Odin
3) Select Rom/kernel/Modem under Open file , it will automatically sort out the files in the ROM
4) Now you can tick EverRoot, Inject Superuser, if you wish or just flash without them
5) Flash Firmware
That's it, Odin will do everything and you will boot up in NEW firmware or Kernel or ModemFlashing Modem's

The procedure for Flashing Modems is the same as flashing kernels
Select the modem you wish to test or install as "PDA" in Odin3 and press "START" do not tick anything else or disconnect phone until flashing process is completed

This is a LIFE Saver ROM for your i9000, Flash this whenever you have a problem with your Phone or just to downgrade from any Custom ROM when you want to switch to another.
General advice prior to Flashing any phone
Its always best to do a "clean" install. meaning you should remove any old scripts, data, cache, junk before flashing a new ROM, this is like taking a bath before using new clothes. For some models it is a must do, for others it may not be a major problem or can be resolved by flashing the dbdata.rfs to clear out the remaining junk that you failed to remove before flashing . But if you had "lagfix" and did not undo it, it can cause internal SD card unavailable situation, which can be difficult to resolve.
Hence before flashing its advisable to
a) undo lagfix IF you had any.
b) Do a factory reset by settings>Privacy> factory reset ( erase SD Card - optional , as formatting SD card could be too) If you format SD card, save your Pictures and Music etc to PC first.
c) And even going into recovery to wipe everything is also good.
d) Removing SIM Card and External SD card ( makes it easier for phone to boot up initially after flashing a new ROM)
Doing this will give you a "CLEAN" install or fresh start for your phone,
IF you want to have it "AS IS" install, with all the stuff (with junk) in the SD card, you can do so too ( without formatting SD card) .

Downloads needed for undermentioned process
Use Odin3 Version 1.7 to 1.83 ( meant for Galaxy S1 series (attached below)
Attached below 3 i9000 PIT files ( use 512 only for re-partition ) or 512 PIT
i9000 JVU ROM with i9000 JVU CF ROOT Kernel download and unzip
FIRST ensure your phone (i9000) has more than 80% battery charge before attempting to Flash.
Procedure:
1. Fire up Odin3 on your PC and ensure KIES is not running on your PC by killing (Kies.exe , KiesTrayAgent.exe, and KiesPDLR.exe) using Task Manager
2. Put the phone to the Download Mode by pressing (VolumeDown+Home+Power) buttons and connect the phone to your PC (your phone should be recognized)
3. Select PDA > CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5
4. Select PHONE > MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5
5. Select CSC > GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar.md5
6. Select PIT > 512 PIT (If 'Re-Partition' is not checked under 'Option', check it)
7. Press the Start button Do not press anything else or interrupt it, wait for flashing process to complete and phone will reboot
After which you repeat steps one and two (to flash the kernel for root and CWM recovery)
3. now select PDA > CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS
4. press Start Button. Do not press anything else or interrupt it, wait for flashing process to complete and phone will reboot
That's it, now you have a perfect Phone, rooted and having CWM recovery, ideal starting point for upgrading to ICS and after that to Jelly Bean custom ROM's
Any problems you may have after doing this, just look here for the solution to that particular problem.
As explained earlier (about clean flashing) if your phone reboots into recovery with some errors appearing in red after flashing the JVU ROM
it may be resolved by flashing dbdata.rfs (attached below) as PDA in Odin3 to remove the junk data files.Using Heimdall to flash

Upgrading to ICS
First and foremost, the moment you want to Flash, the rule of the thump is you should have a EFS folder backed-up somewhere else ( external SD card or PC or cloud) How, Look here. And your Battery must have more than 50% charge
Second you should do a Nandroid Backup of your Gingerbread ROM, using the CWM recovery, this will help you solve problems, IF any thing goes wrong in the future.
Every developer has instructions as to how you should flash that ROM, in the thread you are downloading their ROM's, so you only need to follow it to acheive your goal

Basic CWM Flashing Procedure
No need to read if you know how to use CWM flashing procedure
From here on you won't be using Odin3 to flash anymore, you will use the CWM Recovery by using the 3 combo keys to enter recovery or you can use apps from Google Play like Mobile Odin, Flash Gordon or Flashify to Flash direct from your SD cards, so First you need to download the ROM of your choosing into your SD card ( Internal or External) together with gapps for it.
1) After flashing recovery with Odin, You can enter " Recovery Mode" by press VolumeupKey+PowerKey+HomeKey. You do this every-time you want to switch to a JellyBean or iCS ROM or to utilize the many features this recovery has, like Backup/restore/fix permissions and mostly to do the full wipes (NEEDED to be done every time you want to SWITCH ROMS) etc
2) Once in CWM Recovery you do the Full wipes (use your volume keys to move up or down in the recovery menu to select and the power key to execute that command).
The undermentioned wipes need to be done and will constitute a FULL Wipe of your Phone but your SD card will not be fully formatted as such your Images and other non system files will remain as is.
a) Wipe data / Factory reset
b) Wipe cache
c) Enter advanced and wipe dalvic Cache
Once the full wipes are done,
3) You now choose the ROM you placed in your SD card by selecting "Install zip from sdcard"
which will lead you to "choose zip from sdcard", which will take you to all the folders you have on your SD Card..scroll down to where you placed the downloaded files and select it
Once selected the ROM will be Flashed on to your phone, so wait till it says "install completed"
Note:- Some ICS ROM's may need to be flashed twice as it will end-up in bootloop in the first flash
some need to be wiped again after flashing ICS, as certain apps may not work.*
so repeat the ROM flashing one more time
Also if you intent to upgrade to JellyBean after this, you don't have to flash Gapps here , so you can skip the next step and just "Reboot System" after this
Now you do the same selection process again (Step 3) to select the Gapps file and wait till it says "Install completed"
4) That's it, Now select "Reboot system Now"

Now the ROM has been installed on your phone, so let it boot up and you can repeat this procedure to switch again and again till you have the best ROM of your choosing.
In the event that it fails to boot-up because you placed a wrong ROM that caused a boot loop or due to any other problem, just look in My Android Solutions about that particular problem. IF you cannot enter Recovery mode to flash another ROM.
Similarly You can also use Odin3 to Flash a Gingerbread ROM in Download mode and use your backup to return your phone to its original state.

Now make your choice as to which Jelly Bean ROM you wish to use and download that ROM and Gapps (both in .zip format) to your Internal SD card. you can chose Stable ROMs like this or some others. And Flashing them would be just the same as you did for ICS upgrade using CWM

2) Once in CWM Recovery you do the Full wipes (use your volume keys to move up or down in the recovery menu to select and the power key to execute that command).
The undermentioned wipes need to be done and will constitute a FULL Wipe of your Phone but your SD card will not be fully formatted as such your Images and other non system files will remain as is.
a) Wipe data / Factory reset
b) Wipe cache
c) Enter advanced and wipe dalvic Cache
Once the full wipes are done,
3) You now choose the ROM you placed in your SD card by selecting "Install zip from sdcard"
which will lead you to "choose zip from sdcard", which will take you to all the folders you have on your SD Card..scroll down to where you placed the downloaded files and select it
Once selected the ROM will be Flashed on to your phone, so wait till it says "install completed" Now you do the same selection process again (Step 3) to select the Gapps file and wait till it says "Install completed"
4) That's it, Now select "Reboot system Now"

Now the ROM has been installed on your phone, so let it boot up and you can repeat this procedure to switch again and again till you have the best ROM of your choosing.
In the event that it fails to boot-up because you placed a wrong ROM that caused a boot loop, or your lost your IMEI or network or due to any other problem, just look in My Android Solutions about that particular problem. IF you cannot enter Recovery mode to flash another ROM.
Similarly You can also use Odin3 to Flash a Gingerbread ROM in Download mode and use your backup to return your phone to its original state.

Unbricking the i9000
Upgrading to Kit Kat
First and foremost, the moment you want to Flash, the rule of the thump is you should have a EFS folder backed-up somewhere else ( external SD card or PC or cloud) How, Look here. And your Battery must have more than 50% charge check battery as mentioned on top using your dialer
Second you should do a Nandroid Backup of your Jelly Bean ROM, using the CWM recovery, this will help you solve problems, IF any thing goes wrong in the future and you want to return to Jelly Bean.
Now make your choice as to which Kit Kat ROM you wish to use and download that ROM and Gapps (both in .zip format) to your Internal SD card.

please please please help me dude...am in a big tension..
my phone is galaxy s GT-i9000 and the os was cyanogen 9...
but before some day it become stuck and when i put it for reboot it shows only loading screen and nothing else ...i tried many things like removing battery ext.sd and all but no hope ..
so at last i entered into CWM and mistakenly formatted the boot :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:....but after that i cannot able enter into even CWM.....
but i can get into download mode and nothing else ...
please dude help me what i can do ?? ...and what i want to do..??

Don't panic, you are still in solid ground and can recover from this, but you may have to lose your contacts, data etc as flashing a new gingerbread ROM, would be the obvious solution. But your photos and videos would still be there, as long as you have NOT formatted the SD card too. On the other hand IF you had google gmail account, it would have backed up your contacts detail, when the sync was ON.
Actually, this thread would have solved your problem already, either you flash the gingerbread upgrade or downgrade JVU ROM as guided or you flash the rescue kit ( which is also the same) in the unbricking section. , This ROM has the bootloader in it so you would not have an issue about it.
Note:- it is possible to use ADB to recover the data and contacts, if you have recovery mode (which you indicate is not having) its also possible to use ADB to boot into recovery, only possible when your have debugging ticked in your device.
SO take a moment to think things overs as to what you want to do, so flash the gingerbread ( sure to recover) or try to recover the data? ( no guarantees though.)

First and foremost, you need to flash the gingerbread ROM to solve your problem and get your phone booting, only after that you should look at CM, 9, 10 or 11. BTW there is no such thing as best ROM, that why you need to read the guide on "unsure which ROM yo chose" to get abetter idea about ROM's

I cannot flash any roms on my SGS, I tried flashing a rom using CWM but the installation is always aborted. I've done this several time but the same thing just happens. I also tried using Odin but, Odin cannot read my Phone.
I'm currently on GAMERZ rom and I want to flash 4.4 Kitkat. Now, I don't have any idea on how will I flash any roms on my device.

i have one mytouch 4g with s-off and android 2.2.1 with root and CWM recovery.

Put a ICS rom onto your sd card. Then flash it.
Broken down version:
1) download an ICS ROM zip file (I recommend SteppNasty Aospx - link in the 'resource bible')
2) put that zip file (don't extract) on the root of your sd card (i.e. not in any folders)
3) reboot your phone into recovery (either adb reboot recovery or power off > battery pull > battery insert > hold volume down button + power > select 'recovery', press power button
4) using CWM recovery, do a factory reset/wipe data, then I think under advanced select 'wipe cache' and 'wipe dalvik' (I don't have CWM anymore). If you like, you can also wipe battery stats, but I'm not sure it does anything.
5) select 'install from zip', and choose your ROM zip file
6) either flash a gapps (google apps) zip file if the ROM thread says it needs it, or reboot if it already includes google apps (most don't). Sometimes (like I think with Stepp Aospx), its actually better to reboot after flashing the rom, then go back to recovery and wipe dalvik & cache and flash gapps after getting through an initial boot. Most rom threads will have a link to the gapps they recommend for their rom. You just need one that matches the android version (i.e ICS gapps for ICS roms)
That's the usual method. Most ROM threads will have instructions on them. Seems like a lot of steps, but it usually only takes a couple of minutes.

Below I added some basic Q&A stuff which can also be found at the main thread, if you have any question, read through them before posting, thanks!
Q: How to get into Download Mode?
A: Power off your phone, than hold: home + volume down + power on button until you see the download mode.
Q: How to get into Recovery Mode?
A: Power off your phone, than hold: home + volume up + power on button until you see the recovery mode.
Q: My Phone is stuck at boot and doesn't start, what to do??
A: Update your bootloader and modem. Also make sure you have made a fresh install of the rom. Bootloader and Modem can be found in the OP
Q: Do I need to update bootloader and modem after every update?
A: It's recommend to update your bootloader and modem everytime there is a new base yes.
Q: Do I have to do a full wipe for the new version?
A: It is always the best option to make a clean install, otherwise please don't come and report bugs!
Q: What steps should I do to update to a new version with a full wipe but keep all data?
A: There are some different ways. One way is to make a backup with Titanium Backup, you can backup all Apps and Preferences there. Make sure to store this backup on external SD card (if you have one). The second solution is to make a /data backup in TWRP. So boot into TWRP, click on backup and than select data. After installing the rom, restore the data backup.
Q: I got FC's and other Problems with the rom, what to do?
A: Take a logcat for me, developers use to say: without a log, it never happened . A logcat can be grapped with a PC and ADB installed, simply type: adb logcat > log.txt while your phone is connected and the error is happening.
Q: I want to change something in my rom setup, how can I do that?
A: Simply reflash the same rom version without any wipe and than choose the correct things you want.
Q: Which devices are supported at the moment?
A: Current supported devices are: SM-G935F/FD/W8
Q: Is this rom working on Snapdragon 820 variants?
A: No, sadly not.
Q: Some features are not present, but they are on stock rom, so where are they?
A: In aroma installer you have the option to select bloat you want to install or not, you probably didn't select all package, this is why it's missing now.
Q: My battery life is so bad and performance is very poor, you made so a bad rom!?!?
A: This comes actually not form the rom itself, I assume you installed Xposed than, some modules can cause batterydrain and performance problems. So try to make a clean install of the rom WITHOUT xposed installed..
Q: You said you fixed SD card RW but Titanium Backup can't write to external SD card, why???
A: This is because of googles changes concerning SD card, to fix this open Titanium Backup, Menu, Preferences, Backup Folder Location, Storage provider and than hig DocumentProvider Storage and select your SD card. Problem solved
Q: I like to go back to stock rom, how is this possible?
A: I can provide you here all steps which are needed to go back to a full stock rom.
0. Make a backup and than wipe all partitions in TWRP
1. Go to Sammobile and choose your country
2. Download the file and the attached Odin on sammobile
3. After downloading, put your phone into download mode
4. Make sure drivers are installed and your pc can detect your phone in odin
5. If the box in odin turns blue, add the AP file to AP tab, BL file to BL tab, CP file to CP tab and CSC_HOME to CSC tab
6. Hit start and wait until it is finished.
7. Reboot and you have a stock rom again
Q: Will you add X or Y feature?
A: You can kindly ask in the thread for that, but when I haven't added it until now, most likely it won't be added.
Q: Help, I never had a code and now after installing the rom my phone asks for a password??
A: Your device is still encrypted, on step 0 it tells you to be sure you're not. So, what do you need to to in case you are still encrypted:
1. Install full stock rom, including stock recovery
2. Boot into stock recovery and wipe data (stock recovery can wipe that, twrp not as it doesn't support samsungs encryption)
3. After wiping in stock recovery, boot right into download mode (without booting up!)
4. Install twrp
5. Boot into TWRP (also without booting up)
6. Install the rom
Q: On TWRP there is an error about /data mount, what to do?
A: Your device is encrpyted, follow the above steps to get rid of your encryption.
Q: Where has the CSC selection gone?
A: To include all csc files, the rom get way to big, so it got it's own thread now, take a look here: CSC installer
Q: I have a weak cellular signal, what can I do against it?
A: Two things: first, install your providers CSC using CSC installer and flash in TWRP or flashing stock CSC with Odin. Second Thing: You can install the modem from your provider, also find your modem on Sammobile and install it with Odin in CP tab.
Q: I selected xposed but now I don't see an app for it?
A: Maybe there went something wrong with installing the app to /data/app, xposed is installed but only the app is missing, so head over to the download page of xposed app: Material Xposed Thread
Q: I got random reboots, heeelp!
A: This is most likely from a custom kernel, if you face random reboots please check if you have the latest kernel installed or switch back to the stock kernel included in the rom.
Q: My screen is kind of yellow/orange and the touchscreen doesn't work at all!
A: You have choosen the wrong kernel in aroma selection. Reflash the rom without any wipe selecting the right kernel version.
Q: I can't save any photos to my external storage?
A: This happens if you install another kernel than superkernel or stock kernel. I made some changes in ramdisk to get the saving to external storage working. Maybe you can kindly ask your kernel developer to include this fix as well in his ramdisk
Q: I want to have my external storage like an internal as well. Google introduced it with android Marshmallow, but I can't see this option?
A: Just follow this Guide here and you can setup your SD card as normal storage

2) BACKUP DATA
Install Samsung USB drivers (you unzipped earlier).
Then plug phone to PC in File transfer mode.
Collect all .jpg or .mp4
Use Google built-in cloud to backup apps like SMS Backup & Restore to backup texts, contacts, etc.
Backup your WhatsApp messages in Google Drive.
Everything else: podcasts, Authenticators, TODOs etc...
Then copy the backup on your PC.
Make sure you have latest official updates for your phone:
Connect to Wifi and go to Settings > About device > Software update > Update now
### BACKUP NOW, you will lose everything.
3) FLASH TWRP 3.7 RECOVERY
Go to Settings > About phone.
Tap 7 times on Build number item to unlock Developer options.
Go to Settings > Developer options, switch OEM unlock ON.
Shut down phone.
Boot in Download Mode: hold Home + Power + Volume- until you see Samsung's logo and release all buttons.
Confirm access to Download mode by pressing Volume+.
Phone now displays "Download mode, do not turn off target".
Connect phone in USB, wait for drivers installation.
Then launch Odin.exe (included in my archive) and wait for Odin indicator ID:COM to become blue.
In options: Verify re-partition and Auto Reboot are NOT ticked while F. Reset Time is ticked.

4) BACKUP IMEI PARTITION AND SYSTEM (Nandroid backup)
Boot in Recovery Mode : Hold Home + Power + Volume+ until you see Samsung's logo then release and wait a few seconds for TWRP recovery to boot.
Recovery asks for Keep System Read Only ? > Swipe to Allow Modifications.
Go to Wipe > Format Data.
Type: yes and confirm with bottom right check icon.
Encryption is removed. You can now access partitions.
### If you miss this step you won't have access to any partition.
Back to home menu > Backup.
You can now select the partitions you want to save.
Select at least EFS partition to backup your IMEI. If a flash fails and partition is damaged you will still be able to restore this partition and use the phone.
If IMEI is lost during a flash, phone won't be able to reach cellphone networks.
I prefer to backup Boot, System, Cache, Baseband and EFS partitions. In case of problem, you will have your phone in its original state.
Swipe to Backup and wait during process.
Go to Home screen and continue with next chapter.
Save backup: still under TWRP recovery, connect phone to PC.
Go to Mount menu and check Data partition is checked and MTB button is on "Disable MTP" state.
From Windows explorer, access phones memory and copy-paste the TWRP folder (located in root folder, beside DCIM and Music folders) somewhere safe on your computer.
5) FORMAT PARTITIONS
### Make sure you copied TWRP backup from internal memory to somewhere safe.
Go to Wipe > Advanced wipe,
select Dalvik, Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage (if you really made a backup from step 2), then Swipe to Wipe.
Back to TWRP home screen, go to Reboot > Recovery and swipe to reboot.
On next launch, check the checkbox to remember choice and swipe to allow modifications.
6) FLASH ROM, (MAGISK ROOT) AND GAPPS
Back to TWRP main menu, go to Mount menu again to connect phone to PC again.
Connect phone to PC and use Windows explorer to copy files on phone's internal memory.
Copy TWRP folder from your phone to somewhere safe on PC.
This backup can restore your phone to its original Samsung state.
Copy files of ROM + GApps + Magisk on phone.
Go back to TWRP Home menu. Then tap on Install > choose lineage*.zip,
Optional for root: Add More zips > Magisk*.zip
then Swipe to confirm Flash.
Wait for operation to end.
Go to Reboot > Recovery and swipe to reboot.
After restart, go to Install, select bitgapps*.zip and swipe to flash.
Then tap Wipe cache/dalvik, swipe to confirm,
then Reboot System and on Install TWRP App? menu, tap on button Do Not Install
Wait for the phone to boot during 5 minutes.
7) ROOT ACCESS (OPTIONAL)
Configure Android as you like.
Don't try to set fingerprints at first setup. It will crash.
No need for extra work to be root.
Magisk launches with Android.
Superuser permissions can be managed from Magisk Manager app.
8) TWEAKS
- Calibrate battery: https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/Battery_Calibration
- Set dark Mode to improve battery by 30%
Settings > Display > Dark theme.
- For better battery, remove Always on display
Settings > Display > Screen saver > Desactivated
- Activate Developer options
Go to Settings > About.
At bottom, tap 7 times on Build number. You activated Developer options.
Go to Settings > System > Avdanced > Developer options.
- Change screen definition for low GPU/CPU usage: from 1440x2560 to 1080x1920
You need developer options to enable USB debugging.
Open a terminal where adb.exe from my pack is located.
Plug phone and Authorize USB debugging.
Then type:

adb shell wm size 1080x1920 && adb shell wm density 480
// Defaults 1440x2560 and 640
- Screen sensitivity is too low ?
Try to recalibrate screen sensitivity with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=touchcalibration.favoritappindia&hl=en&gl=US

Hey, thanks for the detailed explanation. Will root and install Lineage in upcoming weekend. Before proceeding with tripping knox, will I be able to use Google Pay and banking apps after installing Lineage ROM? Will wireless charging work? And if I do not want to take backup, will I be able to flash stock firmware in future to revert back to original? There was a time when I was into this stuff rooting and custom ROMS, but now I am too old for it and just being cautious. Thanks again dear.
