I got the stock volume installed. I was too scared the loud might ruin my hearing speaker and I'll be stuck with a fuked up note 4..

I use medium and it's great. I took the post down because a guy started a thread there yesterday before original guy gave the go ahead last night. Bummer, I worked hard on those mods turning up the volume on the ear speaker for the medium & loud.

Ya it's a bummer thanks for all of the hard work ya did..

Boy, I wish there were ONLY 2 things that were bothering me!
The speaker is on the back of the phone.
the first ring is low......this is one of the best features.......love it.
It's a Samsung thing. I like it personally.

New Update Coming...

http://www.androidcentral.com/sneak-peek-samsung-fascinate-update
The Verizon Samsung Fascinate is set to get another maintenance update over the next few weeks -- no, it's not Froyo -- and we got a sneak peak at an early version. GPS has been targeted, and it's looking better in early testing. Signal strength has been addressed. Also, the backlight settings are a little better, which helps the capacitive buttons stay lit longer. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I walk through them in the video after the break.

Remember to everyone that has done custom stuff to their phone to let the Dev's get a crack at it and update their files before you go and try and install an update if it asks you to.

you should come by irc more often

Jt,
Have you guys gotten an update.zip put together, or is it still an odin file ????
Last I read, it was at an .jar file + and update.zip, is this still the case ????
Also, is there just a stock update.zip ???? As in, I appreciate the work you do, but I like my stock mms.apk and music player and stuff. Is there a "virgin" version ???? I don't mind re-rooting or removing the bloatware myself

I replaced my buzzy *internal* front side speaker (not backside speakerphone speaker)

I ordered the part here ($10 but it took a couple weeks to arrive from Hong Kong).
http://www.htcrepairparts.com/internal-speaker-for-htc-evo-4g-p-3686.html?language=en
I got some tools on amazon
(any tools will do but here is a typical set: http://www.amazon.com/Repair-Tool-HTC-Phone-Screwdriver/dp/B004ECP618 )
I improvised the replacement procedure by mostly following the steps here
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-HTC-Evo-4G-Logic-Board/3068/
except I didn't really need to do step 15- the front-facing-camera can remain attached to the board.
It was obvious what to do once I got that far.
Phone finally sounds like new again.
Nice! I actually need to fix the speaker on the back, ever since it went for a swim it's sounded like a blown speaker. Although I might just wait and get the Nexus Prime or SGS2 instead...
The rear speaker is a much easier fix- you might consider giving it a try unless you are only a few days away from upgrading.
The reason I even posted all this is because there are several threads on replacing the *rear* speaker but none about replacing the speaker that you put your ear next to.
For a second it felt like open heart surgery. But if you've ever done a car repair job (let's say, replacing a water pump) that temporarily renders the car completely unusable until you are finished, it's a pretty exciting feeling to get everything put back together, turn the key, and see if it actually runs.
Maguro Maguro Maguro speakers are pretty long lasting, I've found.

It took me forever but all you need to do is tell wanam to expand all notifications. Then it finally worked. Took hours just to figure that out. Came across your thread in the process so I thought I'd give you a heads up.

He pointed out the fact that he had the same issue so it had occurred with other users. Then he confirmed that he fixed it somehow. So your problem could be fixed, he just didn't recall how. It was actually helpful confirmation.

I just don't get this at all.

The Note 4 already has root which is great, however we are only half way there.
It's kinda strange that everyone is talking about all kinds of things but not a word
about custom recovery for our phones which is what we really need now.
Oh well, sooner or later we will all be talking about custom recoveries. LOL
(most likely it will be sooner)
We've had the phones for like 5 hours. Patience...

Yep, I also picked mine up from UPS because I was at work.
No one was talking about root, yet chainfire dropped one.
Perhaps if we dont talk about it....it will happen sooner than later (most likely sooner)
Beside, the phone isn't even release in store yet lol, think when it does things will start popping more than they are now
Wow. Had the phone a whole 8 hours and no recovery! Gotta tell ya, these developers are slacking off! They knew a year ago that the Note 4 would be out and they did nothing! Nothing! What do we pay these guys for? I say we dock their checks for the week. How dare they not use their knowledge of future events and have us waiting 5 days before the phone is even officially release to not have a recovery waiting for us.

Yeah, except I have been around long enough for that to be a legitimate statement. I am in the process of setting up Heimidall, so I haven't tested it. You're welcome to try, but it probably will brick your device since I won't know what needs to be adjusted until I can flash it and see where it stands.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386856 <- Same concept. That was long before CWM or TWRP had a recovery for the device. Whether or not they actually made one or simply grabbed the source when it transitioned from a port to a build, who knows. The point is that building a custom recovery only requires a copy of the stock recovery and an existing custom recovery for a device that has similar hardware. It will likely be here when you return. Toodles.
