OnePlus Two Rumors - ONE General

Just saw this on GSMA. Specs don't seem to be the biggest upgrade and that price is significantly higher than what we paid for the One.
Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/resellers_start_listing_oneplus_two_months_before_launch-news-10377.php

This version of the phone was at the coolicool site for more than a month!
Simply gsmarena found it yesterday!

yeah I saw the news today as well on several source,
Was hoping they will start to use SD 810, and possibly make the memory convention at least 4gb, to cater for at least 64bit memory space of usable space 2gb max.
I wonder what kinda project their operating system will be based on since they going to do if its not CyanogenMod, it will be one of the biggest challenge they will face especially for user who likes to have their own custom rom.

Four GB of ram on a phone is 100% unnecessary at least for now. Cyanogenmod may still work with them in future we do not know for sure. Even if there is no cm 'S' series firmware available in the future, most likely it will come in nightlies as regular builds.

I keep seeing price estimates of $550 and if that is USD, then I think they are making a big mistake (ala Nexus 6 by Google). To me, I saw the point of this phone as something similar to the Nexus 4/5 - a phone that offered a lot at a favourable price over the competition.
From a Canadian perspective at least, a price of $550 USD will mean an end price of around $780 CDN after shipping, currency conversion (which is at about 16.5% right now) and taxes on delivery. That's nearly $300 more than it is for the OnePlus One (which runs about $500 CDN depending on the province you are in). I can't see anyone up here wanting to go that route since it is the same range as every other Android flagship (which run between $600-$700 plus tax) and unless things improve drastically on the customer support front, there is still a lot more risk and hassle buying a phone from OPO than going to your local mall and picking up a phone. If they get as good as say Google is with the Nexus phones (I had easy RMA experiences with them numerous times with the Nexus 4 and 5 where I got brand new phones in about a week) then that may change my opinion.
Of course, Canada may not be a huge market for them and it's not like our weak dollar is their problem but I think they are selling quite a few OPO's here now and that market I can easily see drying up real fast if they raise the price that much. Thought I thought the same for the Nexus 6 as well and maybe that is selling well in Canada despite it being twice the cost of the Nexus 5.

I believe users who bought opo were looking for an upgrade to nexus 5 or bigger phone then nexus 5, but thought nexus 6 was either too big or too expensive lol. If opo releases one plus two that's significantly more expensive, I see even less people taking a risk on this manufacturer in the future

No body would buy it for that price anyway.... Why would someone buy a Chinese phone for high brands prices
The note 4 would be a better choice..

OnePlus had an AMA today and said they were still using the same business plan of small profit margins. The price would only go up if suppliers raised prices.

I second this... And if these specs from the link on OP are true (since these are just rumors), I will most likely not be getting the OnePlus Two; totally not worth it. I really hope these rumors are fake, or I'll be going back to HTC as my next phone.
Sent from my aromatic bacon!

Here is the latest from the rumor mill:
5.5-inch QHD display size
Snapdragon 810
4GB RAM
3,300mAh battery
Android 5.0
RMB2,699 yuan ($435)

Via: gsmarena.com
This looks better and more probable than the rumor linked in the OP.
It may also have dual-sim capability and an SD card slot:
A still image allegedly taken from a OnePlus promotional video, supposedly shows a device that might be the next phone offered by the upstart manufacturer. The photo reveals a device that supports dual SIM cards and has a microSD slot.

If this is true (and it's a big if), I sure hope that dual SIM is an option since it would make developing custom ROMs nearly impossible.

You'll probably have to hold out for the LG G4 Pro then, as this rumoured device supposedly features this chip. It sounds like it could be a great handset, hopefully its smaller than 5.7" though, I think 5.5" is the max size for a phone, anything bigger and you might as well get a tablet.

I heard OnePlus is gona push the boundary and introduced the worlds first smartphone with 10k screen and a PPI of 1,000 :cyclops:

HTC did it again?

I think HTC messed up the fans again.
I hope these are only rumors and this phone will be a mid range phone...

This is either obviously fake or a mid-range device... it dosent even have the dual speakers (boom sound) and it has the older 3 buttons like the OneX.

Why should you be angry.. If they release another flagship in 6 months, good for us. Sell the current one and buy new one. Simple
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Actually, that looks like a low-end phone for the MVNO's or emerging markets.
This looks like a mid-range phone.
HTC had three devices released at the same time last year (One X, One S, One V) so to make their 2013 numbers it only makes sense for them to continue adding new phones to their range.
Well they already said that we gonna get only 1 high range. And it is fiiine.
That M4 render majors it look cheaper than any of the competition. I wouldn't buy it.
Sent from my 2.4.0 Trickdroid HTC One via xda-developers application
Definitely a low end phone, they shouldn't be worrying about another flagship phone when I am still waiting for my developer version.
Doesn't that look like the HTC First?
I really hope they don't mess it up by launching a One+ in 6 months.
This is their main problem (ok maybe 2nd after marketing), if you buy an HTC flagship phone you know that after half a year you no longer have the best of HTC (sensation XE, XL, Onex+, Onexl...)
Samsung & Apple don't have this problem.

The phone in the pictures is the HTC E1 (603e) which is a lower mid-range Chinese market phone:

You want HTC to stop innovating or stop producing faster phones even when they can, due to improved binning, just so that you can always have the latest phone?
That sir, is ridiculous.
Perhaps they should make it two years before releasing new models as that is now a typical contract length and European warranty length?
Or three years, because let's face it, who likes spending money?

Exactly all these people complaining about companies releasing new phones. If you can't afford don't buy, it's not that companies have to release phones according to some ones buying habits. There are always people shopping for new phones in different seasons, so companies have to release new phones to be relevant. The htc one 6 months down the line will be an outdated phone. I can easily see an updated version of One with Snapdragon 800 may be.

I don't think we can call the Sensation XE and One XL innovative phones and it's not only a matter of personal preference, I don't think I am the only one in this case.
Last year HTC admitted they launched too many phones and people got lost in all the different versions.
In the end it's a problem of strategy; Apple and Samsung have a simple offer (at least with the flagship devices), which is easier to advertise and apparently easier to sell.
Mystery solved.

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC will begin promoting its new customizable E1 phone in China, our sister newspaper Commercial Times reports.
Chinese customers will have the option to customize their phone through HTC's website with a variety of accessories including its case and the color of its phone charger, and also amend its features such as the phone's RAM and camera resolution.
HTC China estimates that the E1 will have the highest performance value among the company's smartphone range, with its price ranging from 1,700 to 1,899 yuan (US$275-$310).
The Taoyuan-based company has boosted its market share in mainland China over the past year, but its higher range models still lag behind rivals Apple and Samsung.
The E1 will reportedly sport a 1.15 GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch WVGA screen, dual SIM cards and 2100mAh battery. Custom options will include the phones built-in storage (8GB or 16GB), main camera (five or eight megapixels) and one of the six body colors plus patterns.

Are you buying the Nexus 6?

Hello guys
So for OnePlus One users.. Are you getting the new rumored 5.9" Nexus 6? If not, what feature/specs can make you change your mind?
I currently have a 64Gb OPO. I wasn't interested, but a friend sent me an invitation and I couldn't resist. So far I'm loving the battery, cyanogen and everything in general.. But I miss wireless charging and that "Nexus-Google" feeling.
I'll be upgrading my Nexus 7 to the new one for sure, and I'm probably getting the Nexus 6 to give it a try. What about you guys?
Got the note 3. Really wanted the 4 but been abit underwhelmed by it.
So i ordered the opo gonna set that up and play with it but it's abit to small screen wise and a bit to big real estate wise i think. So will give that to my dad.
I'm really tempted by the nexus 6 and i think I'll go for that.

Definitely won't buy it. 5.9 is too big for one handed use.
Hell, I sold my note 3 just to buy a Oneplus One!
depends.. really like opo, would like to try N4 (used N3 b4 opo) - i guess it'll all come down to price, specs, overall design (if it feels too big or just right)
I went from the N2 to the nexus 5, and I kinda like the smaller screen now. I'm on the fence about the N6. I'm moving to Korea so I'm going to wait until I get there to replace cellular devices.

Nope! The note 3 is more of a square shape (wide) & flat, while the opo is a rectangle shape & curved.
BIG difference when in hand. Especially when you have a case on.

They're both rectangles, a square has equal length sides
The main differences are that the OPO has curved top and bottom, and it has smaller radius corners.

The note 3 is a half centimeter larger.
BTW we know nothing about the nexus 6... i'm kinda curious about android L and ART, but from the 2 pics that we have, it seems too big for the average usage.. i don't think that it will fit in my pocket...
Next phone i will buy is the OnePlus One 2
Think I will get the n6, having owned an n4, n5 and n10 its the only right thing to do
I got my OPO last month, so I don't think I'll by a new one so quick.
The Nexus 6 looks great but we have to wait and see what users have to say about him after some usage.

South, of course . I work for the US Govt. They're relocating me to Seoul for a few years.
The two things that may keep me from buying the N6 are the price and storage capacity. I'm very happy with the OPO, you just can't beat it at $360 with the 64GB capacity. Motorola's new phones which the N6 may be borrowing hardware from just seem pretty mediocre, particularly the cameras, and I'm also not a fan of the design in general. I may consider it if it comes with a 64GB option or has a SD card slot, but all I've been hearing is that it will only come in 16GB and 32GB and no SD card slot. I had an N5 and I've always been a fan of the Nexus line of phones, but I now see them as mediocre devices compared to the OPO, but we'll see.
Depends on price. I'm pretty happy with the OnePlus the only thing is I'm on t mobile so I'm missing that one band and is like to get that.

Maybe. I got this phone from Swappa using that PayPal no pay for 6 months. So essentially this is a trial. Ill wait til the next Nexus is announced before making a decision as I haven't risked anything with this phone yet.

I see it as being shipped mid May.
A couple more decent review/videos
Interesting, from CNET
Alcatel is pushing its latest phone hard. On Friday, the smartphone-maker announced that its OneTouch Idol 3 is available for pre-order. Arriving a couple days ahead of its April 21 presale date, the phone also carries a lower price point.
The best budget phablets you can buy
Unlocked and ready for either T-Mobile or AT&T networks, the discounted device features a 5.5-inch display.
Specifications -- at least those on paper -- are somewhat robust considering the cost of the handset. There's a 13-megapixel rear camera and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, for instance.
The Idol 3's real claim to fame, though, it that the display and OS will orient to whatever direction you pick up the device. This reversible feature also adjusts the speaker strength depending on how you hold it: pick it up one way and the "bottom" speaker will dominate; turn it around and the two will switch.
Shipments are expected to begin in May.

Would the Idol 3 be an upgrade to my Galaxy S4? I think I've gotten over paying $$ for a "flagship phone." I'm looking hard at the Idol 3, the ASUS Zenfone 2, and the Oneplus One. The Idol 3 is the bargain among the bargain phones... just a little worried about the camera and general performance compared to the Zenfone 2 and One, which I think are a bit more powerful.

Well, you know your phone. Here is a comparison of the two.
Each will have their plus and minus. They are two entirely different devices. Alcatel is still rather new at this game. Having this in in their lineup, shows they are moving toward more premium devices.
That said, they still need to prove this device worthy of a higher status level.
I've been on the fence on the Idol 3 big time. I had a pre-order in at the $199 price and canceled it. I wish I hadn't done that... I think I may reorder the Idol 3 and give it an honest go. I'm really interested in the Idol 3 for the relatively light weight (sounds like one of the lighter 5.5" phones out there unless I've been misinformed), good battery life, and stereo speakers. If it doesn't live up to my expectations, I can return it and get the OPO. I just wish the OPO had an SD Card slot. I do like to share files that way between my tablet and phone...

[Q] Where do we go next from the OPO?

I can't seem to desire any other phone. I love the display, I love the size. Speed is good. Battery is very good (running stock CM). Not to mention the price.
Also - I love the hardware buttons (I think software buttons - like in the nexus 6p for example - are a waste of screen real estate).
Anyone upgraded and was happy doing so?
I'm in the same boat as you, my phone is almost 2 years old now but i feel no need to upgrade. Unless you live in a area with faster than 150mbs lte, want a finger print scanner, or a crystal clear screen, i would just keep it until the op4.
Had the One for just over a year now and don't feel the need for an upgrade. When I do end up upgrading this phone, it will not be another OnePlus device. The 2 and X have shown little improvements as successors to the One. There will be better options when the time comes
The OPO really opened me up to the modding capabilities of android. As so many people had grabbed the phone and experimented, there was lots of support. CyanogenMod was a key factor in my decision to get it, and I agree with @kenboyles72 : The 2 and X haven't improved enough for me to want to upgrade.
Also, there's nothing wrong with the OPO, even two years old. It still outperforms most of my mates devices
will be a better unit. BUT not that too soon.
opo will be still outstanding unit at least few more years.
Used to handle HTC models prior to opo
really appreciated opo unit.
appropriate in many ways.

Is it bootloader unlocked? Or do you plan on staying on stock for several months hoping for some AOSP support only to switch again? Most of the time it's better to wait and see how popular a device is before buying as the more popular a device is the more likely it is to get a good development scene

Boot loader is locked and honestly I don't care. I don't care what Android skin I use, everyone makes a big fuss about oh I can use this and ew Touchwiz and what not and honestly I don't care. I use Google Messenger for texting, Snapchat, Reddit and Facebook Messenger. I'd be lucky to make an hour of phone calls a week. I install Google Now Launcher on the device and an icon pack, the main interaction I have with MIUI is the status bar and recents apps menu. Like looking at this, you wouldn't even know it was MIUI underneath.

OP3 or whatever ~5" Nexus device(s) come out this year.
Went to a Nexus 5x already, but keep leaning back to the OPO that's still lying around.
After The opo will be useless at 2018 i will looking into new battery techs
i was thinking to Nexus 6p, but I've see now the 820's snapdragon devices.... So I think I will wait for sure the next Nexus, if it will be nice i will buy that... And obviously, have a look to opo4
I'm waiting on the note 6... after it gets a custom recovery.
One plus 3 ( if specifications equal or above opo ).
Maybe mi5 when price drops or Next Nexus, opo is still uncomparable as price/quality ratio
Using this thing until it is too slow to use day to day...did this with my HTC g2 and m7. When they start to lag behind too much and battery dies too often, it was upgrade time. I always make sure lots of memory is free for performance.
Sent from the one and only Oneplus One
thus is cool but i am worried if there is hope of android o for us with this one or any good custom roms or any new holy **** kernels as i donot see dev with opo2 then what with opo3 opo 4 will dim
S7 Edge on Tmobile's buy one get one free deal.
I was just browsing the subforum and happened to come across this. I personally own the X which is essentially a more compact One with an AMOLED screen and expandable storage.
I would say keep the One. It's a great phone and if you compare performance of the X to the one, I'd say that there isn't a reason for you to upgrade to anything at all. If you must, go for the X. It's really a side grade if anything as both devices level one another out on terms of HW, but in all honesty, keep what you have. You guys have the best ROMs, the best revision of the 801, and the best kernels after all. Enjoy what you have.
I've had inconsistent performance with the GPS on my OPO. I'm really tempted to get a 5X now that it's $200 (plus that first month of service, right?). Didn't know how important the GPS would be to me.

Since that i like to talk about tech, here i'll list probable characteristics that I've read by informations circulating on the net, in way to discuss about with everyone that could appreciate;
• SoC Kirin 670, Octa Cortex A53, GPU Mali G71 and support to LPDDR4 memories
• 4GB RAM + 64GB storage
• EMUI 5.1 - Nougat 7.1
• 5'5" 18:9 EntireView Display
• a modern design
The price should be around 220-270$, by expectations. What do you think about this new device incoming?
except 18:9 EntireView Display, all other looks normal but yeah if this gets launched in this same price you mentioned, it will definitely be good device in this segment.
LPDDR4 is good add on here and Kirin 670 seems not advertised much yet if I didnt miss much

Absolutely nothing special, it's a mid-range phone and we'll see if it'd be simply an over-clocked 650 or something more, but exactly as you said it'll be a nice device. I'm especially curious about the shape that it'll have, i like a lot the shape of 6X by my point of view

64GB of storage is very nice too
I hope price tag won't be over 220$ that would be such a turn off

If it is, it may be a flop one when market is so high with vivo and mi.
Could be a risk, for a mid-range device the price is already enough in my opinion
*Update due a leaked picture*
A web designer has accidentally revealed the probable price of the device while he was busy preparing the pictures to show during official showcase (or at least that's what the article claims). The picture still have to be confirmed, anyway. Here it is
Thanks to this, is deduced that the phone will have 2 variants; one with 3GB of RAM, that should cost 1799 Yuan (229€ approx.) and one with 4GB, at the price of 2099 Yuan (269€ ca.). Considering that taxes or extra costs are still to be added to the total price, the device could easily overcome 249€ of price here in my country. Honor is following Huawei raising their prices on their devices?

I hope that they won't do the same with the prices of the phones ?
Hi, i looking forward to buy the honor 6x, but should i wait for the 7x announcement? How would i wait the phone to be released in my country (italy) with the national warranty? And, i found the 32 gb version at 200 and the 64 one at 230, do you think the 7x will be around the same price? I mean, not above 250.
thanks a lot

6X is good, 7X will be a powered version of this phone. It depends by your economical possibilities and what you look more when you buy a phone, in my opinion. I had bought mine on Amazon, I'm Italian too and i have a warranty on it, so you'll receive it too i suppose (but this could change by the site/shop where you'd buy the phone). If you read OP, you can find approximate prices, but nothing has been confirmed yet, so keep them as hypothetical prices
This looks good. Too bad I already have 6X.
They just launched Honor 9i today in India with 4 cameras, 64 GB storage, Kirin 659 costing 17999 INR.
BTW Honor 8 is way cheaper now in India at 50% discount till 8th October on Amazon.
Honor 8 depreciated real quick.
Honor 8 is a very nice phone, 50% of discount is a great offer! (Even if i fallen in love with Honor 9 aesthetics)
Even Mate 10 will be an awesome device, the Kirin 970 with NPU treats me a lot and I'm curious about how it will behave with the phone (i'm treated only mentally, because i surely won't buy it)

Pensi che il prezzo verrà mantenuto sulla linea dei 200-250 come il 6x?
