My s3 neo on cpu z ali cores are active at idle running at 300mhz - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My neo has this strange thing! My first that i had to switch because of a câmara problem had at idle Just one or two cores active and the remaining two stoped! My actual gt-i9301 has all cores active at idle marking 300mhz mínimum for core!
Any one has an idea about why is this happening?
Thanks

Did you use battery saver?

mpdecision

I'm running fauxs kernel, and in his op it says for battery life to turn mpdecision off. When I leave it on only the first 2 cores run and idle at 384mhz, but when I turn it off all 4 cores are running constantly, and the 3 & 4 core idle at 702 mhz. Maybe I'm missing something, but how can turning mpdecision off be better on battery when you have all 4 cores running constantly instead of 2?

Sounds like you're running his enhanced stock kernel, the recommended settings only apply to faux kernel

No, I'm using the 008 mainline
mpdecision kicks in when you touch the screen it ramps the min cpu speed to 1026 so it uses more battery but increase responsivness

See, that I knew already, and it does make sense. But when I turned mpdecision off, it was doing the exact same thing, but instead of only having the first two cores online, it had all 4 cores online constantly with the last 2 at 702mhz. From what I read, people are saying turning mpdecision off is better for battery but I just don't understand how it could be with 4 cores running constantly instead of 2, unless I'm doing something wrong (which I probably am lol)

Phone getting heated

Hi guys I dont play much games on my phone ,
Yesterday when checked found modern combat for free on samsung apps downloaded installed and now when I started playing it gets heated very soon is this normal or is it due to over clocking of cpu and gpu?

Hello, what is your current voltage for your cpu and gpu? And frequency (cpu/gpu)?
Undervolt probably can resolve the problem!
Sorry for my english, i'm french!

It's normal. I haven't over or underclocked or overclocked my phone and when playing highly intensive graphiv games, it heats up. If you have a case on it, that could contribute.

Having a case on heats the phone up? I haven't rooted or played any intensive games on my phone. I do have a case and I am noticing the phone heats up quite a bit when you charge your phone or if your 3G connection is ON for long. I think that's the reason my SD Card got busted, due to excessive heating. Can anyone confirm the phone heating up coz of a case?

Yes guys ive a case bit when playing I remove it and the heating usually happens on the front and back side of my screen where the back camera is located
Ive set max feq to 1.8

If it isn't turning off then you are fine. A quad core cpu with a gpu on board will get warm in the designated area, especially given the fact there is no ventilation.
Your cpu set to 1.8ghz and voltage?
You can test decrease voltage by 0.25mv to reduce heat and better battery life.
For me actually 1.8ghz = 1250mv

perfect now
What did you guys use to set the frequency and voltage? I'm on omega v15 TW based and tried to use setcpu but it won't let me go higher than 1.6 Ghz

Its the case with only a few games. I hope it will be fixed with an update. The XXDMC3 firmware is said to have come up with a fix already!
Hope for the best ....

Mulit-core hacks

So I have a very thought out question now I have a 4 core phone right? Well my battery life is below average and I was wondering if I had all my cores running at once would it balance out battery life? I just need some help from someone who knows about all this and are all cores mandatory?

You can select how many active cores are activated with trickster mod and (necessary!) a kernel that supports this.

I know how to and can with my kernel but I need to know if more cores are activated if the battery life will be better or worse

I would definitely take a look in to what my batter usage is and how to control that before I worry about the cores. Just my two cents.
P.S. I am sorry but I believe the Multi-core in the title is spelled wrong.

More cores active would mean more processing power, and more processing power requires more energy(atleast on the same cpu), so disabling most of your cores would result in better battery life, maybe by a little bit though.
Hahaha I didn't realize it said mulit

useful topic
It seems to me that by disabling cores wont make a difference to your battery life, only to your performance. It doesn't matter if 2 cores work for 5 seconds or 1 core works for 10 seconds, it is practically the same power consumption
Play around
I would say download CPU-Z from the Play Store and look how much Cores are active and which clock they're at.
Then flash a custom Kernel, which lets you control the clock, govenor and how much cores are active, undervolting may increase your battery life too.
Play with the settings (PLEASE DO NOT RAMP UP THE CLOCKS or set the voltage to the lowest point you can, it may break your phone, stay reasonable, it's not my fault if your phone bricks) and look what's best for you.
Pro Tip: Take a look at the different govenors and look what they do. Google them!

I hope I could help you a little
Im using trickster mod and I know about all of this I studied up and have undervolted by 200 MV stable but I'm using the hotplug settings to 1:2 so not all 4 cores are active and I get almost two days on one charge!so I guess that does mean less cores use less power

[DISCUSSION]Share your undervolt settings and battery

Hi guys
After 2 days i undervolt my processor with trickster mod and see difference. Now with stamina and undervolt i have
2x battery life. Before undervolt with 2 hours asphalt 8 and 1 hour facebook my battery death. Now i play asphalt 8 2 hours daily, 3hours facebook, messenger and browsing and 30 mins youtube and my battery death. 5.3 - 6 hours on screen. Stock 205 and William's kernel, app using - Trickster mod, OC - 1.7 ghz - 281 Ondemand + SIO
See my settings in screenshot - Is verry stable - tested with Antutu Stability Test
Share your settings, rom, kernel and using app for undervolt, and overcklock.
BTW: Can undervolt kill processor?

All cores are working it's just the apps like kernel adiutor don't support this cpu correctly and don't recognize the other 4 cores

There's no app that fully support our cpu "probably no dev cares" but if you want you can check out "Cpu stats" app which can show the cores usage in % but still can't show the frequency. At least it will make you feel better knowing that all cores are active in heavy usage

Yeah i think the 4 cores are able to handle your normal use
So the other 4 are offline or not working
i have queation too but other problem is, i wanna know if i unlock bootloader and nothing else will my phone work? And will that step allow rooting with super su and can i install twrp? i mean without modifying kernel

Like others said they are most likely still active, though deactivating them or activating them doesn't make difference in performance(or if it does it's much less than expected).
Try this app
