[Wallpaper pack] Material walls v4 (Dec. 17, 2014) - Hand Made - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

So I decided to make some wallpapers and share them with everyone.
It took me about an hour to make and I will be taking requests for specific colors and ideas. Buy you can just download gimp for free and customize to your liking. Its not very hard.
Bellow are some examples of what to expect in this pack. It will be updated regularly (hopefully) and don't worry, no donations or anything, I was just bored.
All wallpapers are in HD and compressed in a .zip file. Might need winrar or 7zip to open you know?
Wallpapers will be updated regularly. I now have a partner working to copy these to the nexus 7 (2013 and 2012). If you have any requests contact me by XDA messages. And we will work from there.
Examples of wallpapers i do are located bellow in the attachments.

NOTE: versions are not merged. You will have to download the new version which does not contain the previous version wallpapers. Sorry I'm doing a lot of the compression and uploading from my phone.
If you're nice enough, link people here and distribute. And hit the Thanks button. these take a good bit of geometry and math to get right, plus going through personal requests and conversions to various resolutions.
And thank my friend Jaron Moore from the Nexus 5 Central community on G+ for working on the nexus 7.
-- Planned --
1) convert wallpapers to nexus 7 size.
2) convert for nexus 6 and 9.
Note: I won't give ETA's. I have no idea when and where I make these, my schedule is hectic so I can't plan ahead to make these.

These are beautiful. Anyway I can get that blue linked one without the text?

Easily. Even with MS Paint. Just select a box under the text that covers the area of the text and copy it. Paste and move it over the text. Hidden!

Thanks! Now my only problem is that it doesn't match the icons on the lockscreen. Do you know of a way to change just the lockscreen wallpaper?

See how that looks all messed up? I was wondering if there was a way to change it so I only see this wall paper when the phone is unlocked.

Best bet is using a custom lockscreen app...other than that idk. Maybe someone can give you a tip.
The text is built into the wallpaper.

I don't even know if that's possible. I think it just uses your desktop wallpaper, that's all. Maybe decompile framework-res or systemui and see if you can find anything, but I doubt it.

Font Size

Can anyone tell me where to change the font size in the email app on the N1 please.
I am using the standard gMail setup, and can not find the option anywhere (found it in the browser for example)

Agreed about the old eyes.
Just got off of the phone with the Nexus One support. There is no current way to change the font size in the built in apps.
I lodged a complaint/suggestion that this seems like an obvious oversight and a possible violation of the ADA (in America at least).
The rep was very pleasant, but really didn't have a suggestion other than to research 3rd party apps to do this.
Sigh... Hopefully someone will be kind to us old folks

Thanks, it does not need root, but nor does it affect the font in anyway on Nexus One sadly.
Seems like an old app, you can select difference font sizes, just no way of making them stick, as soon as you back out of selection box, goes back to Normal.
Thanks anyway, have to keep looking.

I probably should have tested it first, looks like it is still mostly a 1.5/1.6 app. Hopefully someone compiles it with 2.1 soon, I will take a look at the SDK for 2.1-update1 and see if it is in there too.

Did you test Notion Ink Apps?

Here you have a link if you want to test them -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928832
Thanks to gojimi!
I'm not sure if any of that is useful other than the OfficeApp, but I may play with the others. Thanks for the link.
EDIT: The keyboard is lame other than the arrow keys feature. A keyboard with arrow keys and a num-pad would be the way to go.

I suspect they're thinking about the PixelQI screen in transreflective mode where the increased contrast of the keyboard will still make it very useable.
Sign apk? ahh, i'm a designer not a programmer, i merely opened up the apk, modified one of the skins (a png file) for a test.
so, all ive done is altered the filesize and date of one of the inner files.
How does one "sign" an apk?

Anyone got maild working on the Vega? I flashed via CW but couldnt locate it after reboot... doesnt seem to install anywhere
got mail'd working but can't get contacts to show up. i didn't flash it though. unzipped the file on the vega and installed the apk from the folder
I've tried some of the apps here, I'll leave my two cents.
mail app: Brilliant. I love the way it manages the accounts and the look & feel.
Sniffer App (file manager): Looks kind of cool, but doesn't recognize the USB drive.
Calendar: Looks nice but I don't use it ,so can't compare.
Browser: With the email, the best of the lot. Just one annoying thing. I have to reinstall it every time I reboot. Weird.

Nexus 10 Density Class - HDPI? XHDPI?

Hey, I'm just wondering if anyone has been able to determine which drawables directory the Nexus 10 reads from - hdpi? xhdpi? I wish Google would publish this stuff...

It's SXHDPI!
Just kidding. But I'm sure it'll be something similar to this. In the past tablets have been MDPI if I remember correctly, but obviously this is something completely new. All the System .Png's are going to be 200x200 lol.

Well, it is 300 ppi, which is between hdpi (240) and xhdpi (320). My assumption would be that it would thus be considered xhdpi, but I am looking for a definitive answer.
Hey, check out this Google+ post by Nick Butcher. He confirms that the display is xhdpi, and also says that the launcher icon will be taken from the xxhdpi drawables folder.

http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html
If you look at table 1, it shows xhdpi to center around 320dpi
XHDPI
I would hazard a guess that it will class as XHDPI.
The reason I say this, is that during development on the Nexus 7, I noticed its density is between MDPI and HDPI, and that it does in fact pick up the HDPI resources.
That said, in order for it to work correctly, any development would require resources in an hdpi-large folder in projects (nexus 7), so the N10 would need xhdpi-large so that it doesn't pull tiny XHDPI resources meant for phones such as the S3 etc.
as posted before, the official answer by nick butcher is:
in general, all assets will come from the xhdpi folder, apart from the launcher icon, which will come from the xxhdpi folder.
when it comes to development, you can of course also create a drawable-***dp folder (sorry, can't recall the exact number now, it was on android design in action either this week or last week), you might want to check youtube for that.

AOSP Live Wallpapers

This is my first post so be gentle on me guys and girls!

I'n not too sure to be honest, it's the first time i've looked at AOSP before. The last phone I has was the Optimus 3D which was way behind everything for software updates. LG hardware seems sound but their software is lacking so the Nexus seemed perfect with the software being pushed by Google.

It is supposed to move, I don't think it works with Googles new launcher though. What I always hated about this wallpaper though it the big circles would disappear if they were more than half off the screen. It just made it look choppy and ugly. Wish someone over at google wouldve done a better job with it.

It doesn't scroll on the Nexus 4 and if I remember correctly, it was static on the Galaxy Nexus also. I prefer non-scrolling.

default Alita (mi 9 Explorer) fingerprint animation from transparent(!) version

is default Alita (mi 9 Explorer) fingerprint animation present in eu dev and stable ROMs for all mi 9's?
basically, when and if i get this phone i'd like to flash eu dev or stable miui, possibly even Globe ROM (rom builder) and am wondering if by flashing the device i'll lose the fingerprint animation in the process - the one on all the youtube videos of mi 9 explorer / transparent (yes, i know it's not real!)

Here's the theme without Chinese/Thai, I believe. Will edit if it doesn't work after my phone arrives next week, hopefully!
To install a MTZ file you can try this free app, just follow the instructions on the page to install mtz
found it!!! it's called mi 9 TE theme and can be found here (or if that fails a quick google search brings it up)
apparently it's available in the theme store as well

Ok, so I think I've found them, maybe. Again, I don't have the phone yet but can I ask, do different Chinese characters appear for different actions, or is it only the characters seen in OP video?
basically, I'm looking for the same characters in the xml file within the mtz file.
(you can use 7zip to open the mtz then (again with 7zip) open lockscreen/advance/then open manifest.xml with notepad and view them, 95+ percent is English, with just some Chinese characters every now and then. I don't know if it'll even work if I just delete all of them, or they're part of the coding..
Tried Google translate app for Chinese characters / sentences using camera, but it's not giving accurate translation. I mean, the words are REALLY random!
I'm not comfortable uploading an edited mtz for you guys to try, in case something goes horribly wrong. But feel free to have a look. Maybe you guys with the phone already can compare the screen message characters with the ones in the manifest. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot altogether!
Good luck. Hope it helps. I'll keep scanning for the same characters in op video... Will keep you posted
what about this thread, the manifest is a different size. you could try and replace the manifest with the one in thread mentioned and see if that works.
the only reason i say to replace the manifest and not just use the mtz as your theme (assuming it works) is because there are elements missing - such as themed mms, contacts, settings etc etc which are present in original mtz. the combination of the two may make it all pukka without the chinese text. (JUST GUESSING AND HOPING!). other files in the mtz container/lockscreen/advance/manifest are the same size.
the clocks in root of mtz are different, so i'm not sure what's going on there. perhaps just the different colour (white vs red/white)
can't wait to get my hands on the phone and have a tinker!!
