[Q] [A3000-H JB4.2.2 Call_Fuse] Working memory swap? - A3000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm running a Lenovo Ideapad A 3000-H, JB 4.2.2, kernel 3.4.5, running the build A3000_A422_011_022_140127_WW_CALL_FUSE (with phone function unlocked).
The pad has root, made with Framaroot.
Unfortunately, the internal memory on this sucker is only 2.4 GB and shrinks down to 1.8 GB when fresh from flashing with the Call_Fuse build.
The external SD card is a Class 10 chip, 16 GB (14 and change effectively).
I was trying to install the BG:EE on it to play (ah, the memories!), but it's a no go. The Play installer dumps the app to the internal memory, which is insufficient. There is an option in Settings > Memory to have the external SD as the default write memory, but still... the forced dump to the internal prior to installing the app. To cut to the chase - horribly annoing and prevents me from enjoying this classic RPG masterpiece. Is there any EFFECTIVE method to swap my external SD and the internal memory? I've seen some options to modify the vold files, but the risk of ineffective, tedious hassling with the pad (and potentially bricking it) is too high.
Anyone?

Heeey guys,
The same problem here, did someone find a salution or should i through this brick out?!
Thanks,

ICS - Move Apps to Internal USB-Storage

Hello Guys!
Searched the whole day for a solution bút nothing really answers my questions, so i will post here.
Is there any chance of moving apps from DeviceMemory (2GB) to the internal USB-Storage (11GB). I tried to use App2SD and tried it with the Android Onboard Tool but nothing will do it. It just keeps moving to external SD.
When the external SD is removed and you try to move an app there is just the advice: "not enough memory".
Addition: My memory option in settings looks like this:
http://s14.directupload.net/images/120513/3rhplf49.png
Total Memory: ~11GB
Other Data (red) - will show what u really use PLUS the amount of the external SD card
Is that the Problem that the OS thinks like in this Pic the USB Storage is too full (more full than its total size ^^) and let you only move to external SD?
Ok, long story short: Is there a way to move apps to the internal USB Storage?
Thanks!
Have you looked to see what's on you're internal sd? Remember that it won't be wiped by a normal ROM flash unless you specify, so data will build up flash by flash.
Sorry, I know it sounds pedantic, but first thing to try.
what spec phone do you have?

If i move an app from applications in settings with the command "move to SD" i will see in the Storage overview that the device Storage gets smaller and the storage from external SD gets bigger.. The USB-Storage (internal SD) stay the same.
The path for the files were /mnt/asec (?) there i found some files..
And the thing with non wipe and data: Got my Note as off. ICS LPY was released and flashed it out of the box with ICS. There is nothing from older roms..
What do you mean with Spec Phone? I have a Austrian Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with official ICS LPY on it running..
PS: The problem with apps cant move to internal storage is also on Galaxy S2 present.
Can anyone try to move apps from device to the internal storage? I think that its a bug in ICS.
First things first, I would recommend downgrading to stock GB, check out Dr. ketans thread in the stickies of the ROM development thread.
It seems unlikely, but since your on lpy, there's a possibility that your data is corrupt, have to say am not sure about this at all.
There's also a thread about the issues with lpy, lpf kernel that's worth reading from abisahara.
Please, anyone else have any further recommendations, please ignore me.

------
double-post sorry..
First of all thanks for your attempt to help me out.
But whats the sense of downgrading? And nope, data isn´t corrupt can move things from pc to the phone without any problem, everthing is OK.
The only problem is to move Apps to internal USB-Storage (11GB) that wont work. There are others too with this problem and their phone never touched custom rom or anything, just the official ICS OTA Update.
Btw. i remeber i saw peopole with Galaxy S2 with the same problem on the net.
You have a Note too - try it for yourself to move apps from Device Mem (2GB) to Internal USB.Storage (11GB). I bet it wont work. Its not a special problem to me i think its a general problem.
Also is the data corruption not an effect from wiping? Havent wiped my phone yet one time..
regards.
Data corruption occurs from any large data movement, weather it's wipe, or deleting large files, there's suggestion that 2GB is the danger point but I experienced issues after writing a 500mb file that started fcs across the board.
I'm more than likely overreacting and apologies for this. Maybe someone with more experience can help better.

Hey.
Just forget the data corruption, man! I´m fine with this till now and that doenst belong to my problem..
I just want to put some apps (e.g angry birds) to my internal USB Storage and that dont work i only can move apps to the real external SD, other people have the problem too and i want to know if this is on all ICS releases from Samsung with splitted memory??
@Jaysus88, I understand your problem and frustration since I have the exactly same problem and frustration. After some search, I feel the problem may be because some phone manufacturers disabled the "Move to USB storage" capability. BTW, my phone is Samsung Galaxy Note-N7000 with ICS.
I just registered the account to share potential solutions. I was suggested two solutions (I haven't got chance to try them myself yet):
1. Root the system and somehow re-partition the internal storage to increase "Device memory" (and shrink "USB storage").
2. Add an actual SD card and "Move to SD card" instead of "Move to USB storage".
(just realized that new users cann't post links :-( )
Both 1 and 2 have limitations that I don't know for sure:
For 1, is it really possible to re-size the storage partitions after rooting the phone?
For 2, ICS may not support some SD cards; moving too many apps to SD card may also cause rebooting issues for Android (we can easily find a lot of complaints about this issue, such as the Android issue id 25563 on google code).
If you find another more robust solution, I would love to hear about it! This is another reason I registered my account.
Hi!
Found that in Themes & Apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652079
This will change the mounting points for external and internal SD. It should work.
For myself i leave it as it is.

Force apps to be installed in internal memory (ICS)

I'm currently with Lord's ICS, 8.1.1 (the latest stable til now).
An issue arises today when my SD card corrupted and I had to format it (still automounts as being read-only, android so hard to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730865
I realised after formatting, half of my apps are missed. Turned out many games were installed on SD card for sme reason, while 90% capacity of NAND is available.
Is there anyway to force apps to be installed in internal memory instead? :cyclops:

No. It is all set aside for the system. This is the way phones without real internal storage works.

[Q] Note 3 Miscellaneous Files taking up 29GB - rooted Jelly Beans Rom

Hello,
I've done a big search to solve this issue, but none that helped. I just bought a Note 3 32GB version Verizon, and I rooted it immediately and added Jelly Beans Build 4. I've barely put anything into internal memory. I look at the Storage and it says I have 29GB used up as Miscellaneous Files. (To which I clicked on and it at most lists 50mb of miscellaneous files) I then used DiskUsage and scanned and saw that my internal SD card only has 2493 MB of storage total. There's some type of issue with it that doesn't allow me to use up all of my 32 GB of internal memory. Could it be the root or rom preventing it?
How do I fix this?
Now that I think about it deeper. I did use Safestrap to root it and I had to create my own partition. Could it be the fact that I just created the partition with the default settings (as in the amount of memory used)? Should I have raised this to 32gb? I think Default was 2.5GB.
To further try to solve this issue, is there a way to increase the amount of data allocated to this partition? Or is there a way to copy everything in this partition to a new one that I would create at 32GB? I would rather not have to restart and redownload everything again, etc.

Your problem seems to be that you need to read a little more - you are not in the correct forum, this is NOT the Verizon Note 3 forum!
Oh I'm sorry, I Thought this was a general Note 3 forum. And I thought this would be a general Note 3 issue, but I guess it seems to be a rooted and ROM issue.
Your search failed you. Put the rom in the stock slot and your memory readings will be correct. Otherwise, ignore them.

Safestrap does not show your free space correctly, it has to do with the way Safestrap creates its partitions. If you use a file browser or switch to your stock ROM you will be able to see the correct amount of space. If you want to maximize your free space and if you want everything to show correctly the only way to do it is to flash the ROM to your STOCK slot. There have been numerous posts about this and I advise you search a little more. Anyways, it isn't anything abnormal and it's perfectly fine. Not something to worry about.

[Q] Increasing Application Space on Micromax Canvas 2 Color A120 (8 GB ROM)

Hello,
Couple of days back I have bought Micromax Canvas 2 Colors A120 with 8 GB ROM. It runs on 1.3 GHz MT6582 Quad Core Processor, 1GB RAM and runs on Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) OS. The ROM is 8GB (as compared to 4GB in the earlier versions of the same phone).
However, in this excellent phone the application space is still limited to 0.98 GB.
I rooted this phone successfully yesterday and installed busybox. The
/[email protected] is mounted on /system.
/[email protected] is mounted in /data
/[email protected] is mounted on /cache
I am not sure of this but I believe that the I can expand the partition size of /[email protected], /[email protected] and /[email protected] onto the 8 GB ROM in some appropriate ratios. I already have a 32GB class 10 micro SD card attached so do not need the 8GB ROM for any other storage and if possible utlize this entirely in such a manner so that the entire ROM can be used for applications/data/cache/custom user file i.e if i choose to copy there.
Is there any way I can do that repartitioning on the filesystem (or dynamically expand the filesystems).
Please note I have already tried the Mt657xRepartition_EN.apk given at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37974360. It did not help.

Thanks for response Biswajyoti. I will try that. My A120 is with 8GB ROM, so I hope your 4GB ROM solution works with this. However, if you don't mind, I would like to understand a bit more here about how this re-arranging of space is being done. If you can give me some background on the working of the tool, it will be great.
Also, I understand there is a risk factor involved, but can I ask if the already installed apps/data will be affected in anyway. Basically if all goes well, do I need to reinstall any of the already installed stuff. All the apps which can be moved to SD card have been moved to the 32Gb external SD card and not the internal SD card. However, majority of the apps like facebook, what's app etc are installed on the system/app area.
No need to reinstall apps but you should make a backup of your internal storage before doing anything with your phone

Samsung galaxy J5 memory full

I have troubles with J5, because it has 8Gb memory and official rom takes about 5.5Gb of rom so the rest is full almost imediatelly with 3 extra apps.
So I have rooted phone and put in external SD 32Gb and format is as internal memory, but still get notification all the time that storage is full.
I tried all custom roms here but none works, so I have installed official rom back.
Is there a way to do something to release that internal storage memory?

thank you I tried that but not working.
This this [Module] Magic Folder Binder (requires magisk)
Read #3 post for instructions how to use it
Basically whats that modules does is to mount folders on your external SDcard on internal memory, so you can move your app data to your SDcard and use it as normal.
Any questions ask on module thread.

Thanks, I already formated SD card as internal memmory and moved all apps which can be moved, but basically none of google apps can be moved and that is a problem.
Also don't know what fills up memmory, because fresh installed rom have 5.5Gb and phone fills up in one month to 8Gb.
Some light room will be good but I tried all and nothing works.
Is there a way to remove google apps which usually can not be removed?
I bought j5 and I downloaded At least few apps and it started showing "low disk space " I decided to delete all apps and out of 8gb it shows that I have 4MB only. I can't install anything and this phone is useless
