Just Received The New Update NK4 Discussion - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 General

I just updated the phone.. Anyone knows what it was?

you did the update., why dont you tell us what it is?

Just updated as well. Guess only time will tell what the update actually did or didn't do.

Screenshots of Update
Just received the message after checking for the update. It's around 130 mb. Here's a pic.

I believe international Note was updated two days ago. People reported faster wifi and beter response of recent apps button.

Have you switched to ART or anything like that? Tried a reboot or factory reset?

The update is failing for me as well. Stock rooted with TWRP and Xposed. After starting the update, the phone goes into TWRP and starts running an update script, but fails.
Anyone have a zip or IMG or something of the update?

When I try to update it says it can't update because the phone has been modified in an unauthorized way.

so, folks are so excited about flashing an update when they have no idea what SPECIFIC things the update brings??
never ceases to amaze me how people will flash things to their precious 800 dollar phone without thinking about why they are flashing it...

Sprint Unlocked Bootloader 4.4

Just curious, did anybody on Sprint with an unlocked bootloader get KitKat? I wonder if that's the reason I didn't get it yet...
Sent from my XT1056 using Tapatalk
Yeah I've got an unlocked bootloader and was able to update to kit kat but I had to manually update
Sent from my XT1056 using Tapatalk
Could you elaborate on how you updated to 4.4? My bootloader is unlocked with cwm recovery installed. Im assuming I need to revert to stock recovery?
I am completely stock and haven't gotten it yet.
ok here ya go
so since no one else answered yet. go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2452246
and grab the system dump but dont follow his instructions they didnt work for me. if you keep reading thorough it you will find all you need to do is download the system dump and place it in the root of your storage. after that give the phone a reboot and click check for updates. it will find it and ask you if u want it moved and installed and will do it for you.

I would stay away. Everything I've read on the other thread points to you will soft or hard brick the phone. It basically needs to be stock everything, and possibly locked bootloader, for this to work and not brick. I might be a bit off, but I do know that those who are stock and locked haven't seemed to have any issues.
For all of you still waiting, I just had the following chat with a Sprint Rep:
Ciera B.: Hi
You: Hi, I have a Sprint Motorola Moto X and the I know that an update to the Android Software is being pushed out since last week
You: Would you know how long it might take for it to show up on my phone?
Ciera B.: A software update to 13.11.3Q2.X-69-3-8 will roll out for the Motorola Moto X (XT1056) beginning Thursday, 12/12/13 for 1000 users.
Full Client and Network Initiated Updates begin Wednesday, 12/18/13.
You: Does that mean that by tomorrow everybody should have it?
Ciera B.: All Moto X users will get it beginning Wednesday, 12/18/13.
You: So from 12/12 through 12/18 only 1000 users, the rest are getting it from 12/18?
Ciera B.: Right
You: thanx!!
Ciera B.: You're welcome.
Ciera B.: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
Ciera B.: Thank you. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to you !

Unlocked bootloader is fine you just need to flash the camera update via toolkit to restore stock recovery then put the 44 update on the root of your card and check for updates so it updates the phone then you flash twrp or cwm and apply root again

AT&T Update Question

I know having a custom recovery and updating is asking for bad news, but I am on stock with root, if I take this update while rooted, should I expect problems or anything?

I'm rooted only and the 10q update hasn't effected me at all - all root app still work. I think some folks reported issues with their root after the 10o update but I also was ok after that.

This latest update from 14th Feb is 15MB. I guess that's the one you're asking about. If so, my phone was never prompted to "accept" the OTA update. It just updated by itself without my consent. But other folks have said it will forcefully update after declining 3 times. After update my phone was stuck in TWRP bootloop. But don't worry there is a perfect solution for that as well, if that's what happens to you.
Totally upto you if you wanna take the update or not, no changes on the user experience at all.

That's the one I am talking about. I'm not too worried about the update, just if my phone would be borked if updated with root, but no TWRP/CWM. I haven't been prompted for it, I was just asking for my own knowledge, and like you said, there is a solution for it should something happen.

I just turned on my phone a few minutes ago and saw the update.
Honestly, I wanted to check here on the XDA forum first to see who installed the UPDATE for the phone, because frankly, after the recent Lollipop UPDATE that Google sent out to their Nexus line of devices, and the HUGE DRAMA with system BUGS, I'm leaning toward conservative -- even though I know this isn't a Lollipop O/S update.
UPDATE: I found the link on T-Mobile's website, and they say, "This update provides Chinese language support"
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-18152
Went ahead and allowed the update to be applied but because I have already rooted it the update wouldn't take.

Just a few more days and I will get home to my Edge that is sitting in its box. After setting it up I am going to use your root method.
Saw the update this morning when I got up and this popped up in the googletron. I know it's for the Note 4 but I'm wondering if any of this garbage will happen post update... Anyone have any issues like stated in the article?
http://www.tmonews.com/2014/12/t-mo...e-malware-installing-apps-without-permission/
Please note that I am not rooted yet, had an issue with my accelerometer with my first Edge and I'm giving this a few weeks to see if anything crops up first.
My girl got this is morning. Nothing on my phone but i havent check either. I always wait until i get the info on xda first.
But with it just being language support i doubt i will be looking for it.
But im also willing to bet its a patch for something and they just dont want to say so.

I remember when phone would get rooted easily via in OS apps and they would patch them a with an update and just say it's for stability

Thanks for posting this! I was unable to update to Lollipop over Wifi/OTA. AT&T was of no help, the Samsung rep at Best Buy just looked confused when I asked if they could flash my phone (He said he'd download the latest version, but didn't think 5.x would be available yet). I had ever used Odin before, but installation was easy, and my phone seems much faster. Battery life seems a little worse tho.

KingsRoot will give you "TEMP" root on 4.4.4 which is the "ONLY" method available at this time.
This thread is an extension to that where it removes kingsroot and applies SuperSU

Device runs hotter than before with this update, also got a overheated message after I came back to view if update was completed. Never had this before.
Check, another fail I guess.

Yeah, I paniced, all seems fine now.
The update fixed the annoying YouTube randomly freezing 60 fps video with audio continuing issue :3

You think you are gonna get a different answer if you post this question in different threads? If you read about Magisk, you would know it only works with unlocked bootloaders. Maybe in the future someone will get something to work, and as soon as that happens it will be posted here in the forums..
So is this version rootable with engboot or not? I cannot find a definite answer.
