5GHz Wi-Fi frequency band - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't figure how to turn up this feature in the note 4. In my nexus 10 it's very easy to turn it on. But i don't have the possibility to choose frequency band with my note. Can someone confirm if they were able to make it work? Am beginning to think it's not included in my model. Below is some screenshot of what I see...

Yo people, i was hoping to get some info from you guys about the 5GHz Wi-Fi on the note4?

its on by default. you cant switch it off.

For dual band router, I have a different ssid name for each band, I can choose one or the other on Note4, 2.4 and 5 work well for me.

Yeah, its just on, and I havn't seen an option to turn it off. As soon as i powered on the note for the first time, it detected my 5g and normal wifi straight away

Thanks both of you. I'll try to change the SSID for the 5GHz band.

Is there a way to see what process is responsible for these sporadic activations?

Under the Wi-Fi settings is an advanced section. If you have those sections checked to turn off Wi-Fi when unavailable or to disconnect when signal is weak (I have the former checked, the latter unchecked), you may want to uncheck both and see if that solves your issue.
VZW LG G2
I'm having the same problem, and I just checked my WiFi settings and everything is unchecked. TMobile d801version.

Same problem here on sprint version. Bugs the hell out of me. Connection optimizer is off and boxes unchecked. Has to be a way to disable this.

Meizu Metal 3G and 4G connectivity not working

Hi Everybody,
I have bought Meizu Metal from Aliexpress and received it few days ago. Everything is working smoothly except the 3G and 4G connection. The system version is Flyme OS 5.1.2.0Y, YounOS version 3.1.6. The GSM network is working fine. The specifications of the phone clearly shows that it supports 3G and 4G networks : 4G FDD-LTE:Bands:B3,B1 , 3G WCDMA:900/1900/2100MHz. My local operators supports 2100mhz for 3G and B3 for 4G. The phone detects 3G and 4G connection , but when I try to start browser or any app that requires internet it fails to connect.

Have you set APN values? If you haven't, find out those values with your carrier.

Thank you. That was the problem. I set the APN values manually and it worked

Dev options: Aggressive cell handoff/keep cell data active

Anyone use these? Does it help the speed of handoff for hangouts calls? Does it drain battery?
Curious if anyone has tried it. If not I'll try it and report back.

It improves the switch to lte when I leave my house and lose wifi. Does not speed up the switch when moving to lte during a hangouts call. No impact on battery or doze as far as I can tell.

I would imagine that the "Cellular data always active" would only speed the switching process when your internet APN is not your default APN that is activated during the LTE attach procedure. In this case, it would eliminate the delay encountered for the PDN Connectivity Request procedure and the Activate Default EPS Bearer Context procedure (typically, less than 1 second).

Unidentified symbol

Hi - could someone please tell me what this 2 semi-circle symbol is (between the bluetooth and wireless symbols). Never seen it before and can't get rid of it!
Thanks

Hi. I am yes using as s8 port. Have always been rooted and never had this symbol. Can I remove it!?
I had that symbol on a custom ROM. It disappeared after a day, no idea what it was though, sorry!
Ok thanks. Hopefully it'll go then!!
That icon is lte connection its your mobile data at a much faster pace then 4g
Ok. If i turn off wifi the ymbol disappears but I have no data. So I have a problem with this rom maybe as only wifi works it would seem.
Ignore that last post. So this symbol is here whether I'm on wifi or 4g. It's huge. Don't like it! It's on as well as saying 4g.
Its the IMS logo. You can delete anything relating to IMS using titanium or any other program to remove it.
IMS?
Its more like your connected to a much higher quality reception
