poor battery life - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys I'm asking if it's only me or I'm having a bad battery life?
I have phoenix v10 installed and googy kernel with battery profile.
When I dont use it and the screen is off the battery last very long but if i start to use it a bit the battery start to drain pretty fast. I also noticed in battery menu that android os and android operative system is draining me 17 and 12 % for a total of 29%..
is this normal?
I will post a screenshot tomorrow of my battery life and a screen of BBS wakelocks.

Fast charging the battery? Bad data cable? Bad battery? Could be anything
"If someone helps, never forget to hit thanks ?"

the battery its good. the cable too. the battery charge it's the default i guess

Yes it's normal.
Your screen uses power. Also 29% is relative of the battery consumed. So If your battery is still at 99%, then android os etc can still have used 29% of that 1%.

"Android System" draining battery

installed EF02... I pull it off the charge around 6:30am...by 11am with casual texting...its down to 20%.. without doing any except moving around screens...it's 8:30am and my battery is at 72%..something is not right...
settings -> about phone -> battery use
shows that my andriod system is at 80%
anyone else have the same stats? hows your battery life?

did you calibrate? wipe battery stats?
android system is supposed to take power from the battery... that's what the battery is there for.

its not a calibration issue...however I have done that before.
is your phone reading the same?
the android battery stats is reporting that android system's running apps are using 80% of the battery...

44%, full bar.
It's a relative statistic. If your screen were on more than it would take up a larger percentage of the power used, "Android System" is just a general name for things that aren't individually covered (display, cell standby etc.) and if the screen is off and you don't have terrible service it makes sense for most of the power to be used by the OS itself.

It's not an official release, don't expect it to be perfect. It's perfectly normal for bugs to come up in leaks.
yay a problem I don't have..
I pulled my phone off the charter at 9am, just checked it at 11am and still 100% battery LOL.. I haven't touched it, but doing the same on froyo would have dropped the battery to around 80% by this time regardless.
what services are you running? I've found that trillian is an awful battery hog for example, so I keep it closed unless I actually need it.
It's a reporting issue. Not sure if it's epic or GB but display is NOT right. You can have display on all the time and it will still be 3%. My guess is display reports as android system.
I think reason it drains so fast is that there is a bunch of diagnostic programs which are running. (I think they run these programs in test builds to check for problems). If you select Android System you'll see a list of them. I had the same problem with my battery draining really quickly (went back to EC05).
I've been having issues sometimes where my phone stays awake all the time even with the screen off seemingly nothing running. It wouldn't go back to normal without a reboot.
I just reflashed the EF02 modem yesterday and have not had the problem reoccur yet.

I had horrible battery life my first day and half with the AA i3 rom, because I had kept the EC05 modem (which always performed well for me). Flashed EF02 (and OTAed to EF10) and now get completely ridiculous battery life.
to get the best battery life install setcpu and set it for 200-800 on conservative.. my battery life is much better at that setting

[Q] Why is my battery draning so fast on stock Lollipop HOD4 build?

So, yestarday I installed latest Russian Lollipop firmware for the i9500 (I9500XXUHOD4_I9500SERHOD4_SER) and battery, when using the phone, gives a decent SOT, maybe 3~4 hours. But when the phone is in standby mode Android OS and Android System procces take care of draining it hell fast (all of this with Save Battery Mode ON, always). Can I do something about this? Did I do something wrong? Is there another battery friendly stock Lollipop build? (Maybe one of those before HOD4).
The phone's battery is ok, it has at least 3 months of usage. It is not bloated or something like that but if you have another tip t check if its life is over I'll be glad to read it.
I neither installed some uncommon consuming battery apps, just the regular things. Even I tried to optimize it by installing Device Control and Kernel Adiutor to change some values but I had no luck so far. I have GSam Battery Monitor to check what's darining battery and Better Battery stats (although I don't really know how to use it) because I can't get Wakelock Detector to work on Lollipop. I have my phone rooted and with TWRP installed.
Cheers.
PS: SOT and general battery stats differ in 1% of battery because I first took the battery stats screenshot then put it to charge and 5 mins later I thought it would be better to add SOT to give you a refference of the use the phone has had. Not big deal.

Poor batter life

I changed from Note 3 to s 6 edge plus recently
The battery drops 5% per hour overnight when not in use. If I go to bed with less than 40% battery at night I am sure to wake up with my phone switched off in the morning.
When in use with screen on, the battery drips one percent every two minutes. This is the worst battery life I have ever seen in a phone. I was a long loyal customer of samsung and this is my last samsung phone ever.
Extremely disappointed
Please post your battery stats ? so we can have a better understanding of your problem. I suggest you install 'Doze' which should stop unnecessary apps from connecting to the internet and causing your phone to awake from deep sleep.
Dear Akbar 11
Heres the battery stats....is it normal?
I had the same issue, and as far as I managed to find out, it is a bug in Samsung's kernel. Flashing Arter97 kernel solved the issue for, but do post battery stats from SmartManager. If it says 'Android' or 'Android OS', then you have the same problem many of us do.
I don't think it's a kernel problem. My android OS is very low 4%. Like zoolok said post your battery stats from settings, battery, battery usage
I have the same problem. Battery was great before I flash custom rom. After going back to stock I have big battery draining. I must stay on custom rom. With Audax rom and Skyhigh kernel i have great battery life.
You have either messed up something big or you have an app in the background that is eating up your battery like no tomorrow.
And the reason i say that is because i recently got this battery life on my Galaxy S6 edge+.
And this was taken 2 days ago.
Here i use the CRISSCROSS ROM, AudaxPro Kernel, Greeinify and Samsung's own 'Appoptimizing' feature (same as Doze in Android 6.0).
So my battery life is pretty awesome.
i have problem whit battery lose 25% when i sleep
This is a usual day with s6 edge plus
Any help?

i have this problem battery ... if u fixed it tell me how?
Well I was expecting Google Play Services to be eating your battery (which is quite common) but it looks like your Andriod OS is eating the most battery. I would uninstall Facebook and use the web version it always helps with the ram and battery furthermore, turn off location if you are not using it and check accounts which are being synced. These are the only tips I can give you as I have never seen Android OS drain so much battery.
Since a few days Google Play Store is eating up my battery: I go to sleep with 100% batt and wake up with 50%, if I check batt stats on top I have play store at 45%, with 5h active a d 2h of CPU.
Follows Android system at 5%.
Going crazy why...

You've charged your phone 4 times during that day. I can't see what's the interesting part here.

[Q] Is this battery usage normal?

I'm having 3 hours Screen-On-Time, and while I think it's "acceptable" I read about some people with 5-8 hours of SoT. I was having some problems with battery drains on Ressurrection Remix and Temasek and the best rom I found for me was Purify. With it, I don't get crazy battery drains and I finally had 3 SoT again, but I find it strange that on the battery usage chart the screen percentage is closely followed by the Android Operating system, not only that, Purify's developer said that he can get 8 hours of SoT (For me this is just impossible).
I'm using Better Battery Stats and GSam battery Monitor to check but there are some stats that I don't know how to interpret, as I don't know if it's normal system usage or a wakelock.
Thx for reading and thx for helping.

battery drain XT1581

My battery drains so fast and in battery settings sum of the used battery percent is 31% and i have 22% remaining !!! I think something is wrong here shouldnt it be 100% ?
It is very similar to my situation.
I'm using the app called "Force Doze".
My battery performance improved a little bit.
Why not try Brevent in google without root ?
