Verizon Moto X Soak Test Incoming (via Droid Life) - X 2014 General

Supposedly the redheaded stepchild (for Android) of all carriers in the US (the one I'm on) has decided to get it's sh!t together and start soak testing!
Droid Life has always been a reliable source so we can expect more info in regards to this tweet probably tomorrow morning or Monday if they want to make us wait.

Sort of. It's a discussion. I just provided an announcement from Droid Life. Much easier visibility for those casually browsing through General and/or Google than sifting through pages of a discussion thread.

Yeah I'm hoping the same happens this year. Would be ecstatic for 5.0 before December.

Yeah it seems the last update was the dev saying that it might come. I seriously hope it does

Any chance of the boot loader being unlocked on 4.4.4 after the release of lollipop? I would rather have an unlocked boot loader and rooted than take the update.

I've had better.
There's still no timeline and it appears the X will be getting 4.4 weeks before the Droid family.
So we're supposed to celebrate because MotoGoogle hasn't declared two-month-old devices obsolete? Gee, expectations are really getting low around here.

Pretty much my thoughts too. I pretty much knew right when I saw the Nexus 5 that Moto X and droids would be about a month or so behind in the update cycle.
What I'm actually excited to see is if 4.4 actually gives Verizon phones the ability to use Google Wallet or whatever payment system/NFC trickery

The Google/Verizon plans for 2014 are probably LTE tablets. Maybe- just maybe- we'll see a Google phone that is VoLTE-only, but I find it hard to believe that Verizon and Google would willingly partner on that. It doesn't seem like Verizon's style.

That's what those of us with Photons on GB thought too. Motorola's story was they would get JB...right up until the day they said they never would.
I think they are referring to the NFC payment part of the app that Verizon has disabled for the Maxx

Porting Moto G 2014 lollipop to Moto g 2013

As we all know moto g 2014 has got lollipop update and it has been captured then i guess we should start porting it for the moto g 2013 it should be easy as most things are common

I think no XDA dev could port it as fast as moto is doing their update release job.
Just wait!
Guys please just be a little patient. Lollipop is coming. Yes, I am excited too but Lollipop is on the way. Motorola/Lenovo is not playing around with this update. It will be here before you know it.

The moto voice app can give us these options before lollipop, at least that is what I am hoping for.

Will lollipop increase the chance of root?

Do you guys think the lollipop update will help the chance of a root method being found? When the update comes out should I do it right then and there or wait to see if lollipop will completely ruin any chance
There was an article from ChainsDD saying that if anything lollipop is more locked down. My bet is, if their going to get root it's going to be on KitKat.

Wouldn't we have root by now then? I only say because KitKat doesn't seem that hard to root even though it varies depending on OEM. I would think since lollipop for the Droid Turbo isn't too far off (we hope) Then devs would just wait til then for root because most people will take the lollipop update. At least that's how it looks to me and this is my opinion
I'm pretty sure Lollipop will come with root.

I think reduces chances of root

My opinion is that Kit Kat doesn't have root NOT because its impossible but because the lack of interest from the people that find these exploits, perhaps its just a matter of time before one of these guys gets a Turbo and works on it or so we hope.
Finding these exploits is not easy an requires insane amounts of personal time and resources, often with little reward. I understand that there's a bounty on this site but this site is just a star in a galaxy. Sometimes these exploits are found by Asian hackers not Americans therefore the audience is very limited on a Verizon exclusive device like our Turbo.
I do however believe, and this is just my opinion and perhaps wishful thinking, that Lollipop will shine a spotlight on this device and people will notice it even more and perhaps attract some of these guys willing to spend hours after hours finding that one vulnerability in that one line code where they can inject their own code to achieve root. Good luck to us!
m4rk0358 said:

I bet the differ. No phone would come out with an update with root included. An exploit needs to be found. Even chainfire states that root access is going to be harder with lollipop. I dont think we will be seeing root anytime soon. Atleast for a year.
I hope he didn't actually mean the update would be rooted already.

Agreed. There's nothing that I've thrown at this phone that it hasn't been able to handle. At one point there is going to be diminishing returns when it comes to computing power and phone software. That time seems to be about now. Until more hardcore GPU driven software starts to come out I don't feel I need to upgrade anytime soon.
Yeah we just got LP in June, so I'm thinking next June for MM?? By the time we get it, the rest of Android will be ready for the next version..lol

It was actually July 1.
Soak test was in June, but OTA started July 1.
Back in March, Motorola insiders leaked info that the Droid Turbo would get Lollipop in July. We thought that was a joke, but it was the sad truth.
I stand corrected...
I still think our huge delay had more to do with problems with lollipop itself then Motorola. I'm going with 6.0 before the end of 2015.

I mean, just look at the specs on this thing. Some of the new phones coming out now don't stack up to the Turbo specs-wise. Come on bootloader unlock, I'm keeping my Turbo.
We'll have it as soon as Justin updates sunshine.
Tapped out from my Motorola Droid Turbo, featuring Android 5.1. Please pardon my brevity.
