Smaller Notifications in pull down Menu - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
Is there any possibility to make the notification text smaller or minimize the whole section?
Because I have some apps running which need background service and keeping them in notification area prevents them to get closed. Apps like fingersecurity or smart app lock.
But it's too big. It takes too much space.
I didn't find anything useful.
Greetings

A little suggestion.
In S5 settings/applications, uncheck notifications for apps that need permanent icons but keep them active in your standalone applications settings.
Icons and notifications will dissapear but your apps will be active
For example, in TSF shell that I use too, keep system persistent in its own settings, but uncheck notifications in phone settings/application.
(it works also for all in one gestures ).
Try and report, but must work (it does at least for me).
Sorry for poor english, hope you understand what I mean
Best regards
Franky

Absolutely know what you mean. got the same thought. But wanted to keep them in notification and make em smaller.
For now I will make it the way you suggested

Have a look to xposed modules if you're root, several ones allow to change notifications aspects, app settings to change DPI ratios (here on general settings, be aware, all will be change ) or maybe wanam xposed in notification panel options (not sure for the 2nd one, but try to change font format option).
Good luck
Franky
EDIT: OH, in wanam and notification panel options, you can also hide the keyboard icon as well

Hi all! Any update regarding this? I didn´t find any Xposed module that can help with this issue and I have 4 apps that are taking lots of space in the notification area!
Thanks in advance,
WR

control panel in notification drawer.

hey guys, ive had my nexus for a while, but i switched over from an iphone and on the iphone there was a plug in called sb settings which allowed you to swipe your finger across the status bar and a small control panel would drop down giving you options to dim your screen, turn wifi and other toggles on and off, and gave you your system info all without having to leave the current app you were on. i was wondering if there is such a thing for android, where you have a control panel in the notification drawer.?
looked like this on iphone

A free app called 'Bar Control' will let you put shortcuts in the notification bar.
I use this with 'Switches', a paid toggling app, and a free app 'Wifi Status' (that warns you if you have wifi on but no connection to a network).

Quick Settings free on the market will also do this. Nice little program I use it every day.

+1, works great (although it could do with a UI uplift).

It would be good, I'm stock so not sure if LED torch works with root.
the led torch app for the N1 defenitely requires root

Notification Settings (FIX)

For some bizarre reason they have decided to omit Notification Settings in the Settings Menu. If you have an Android Wear watch and you want to change Notification Priorities for certain apps, this is a must, as well as many of the other Notification Settings.
Anyway the short term fix is to install an app called QuickShortcutMaker from the Play Store, then open it, search for com.android.settings.Settings$NotificationSettingsActivity and create a Shortcut for it.
There are others shortcuts that may be useful, another post has mentioned it to get rid of the 2nd sim icon. If I find any others, I'll let you know, and if anyone else finds other useful ones, please post.

Is that any solution to change Notification fonts and colour as I it's unusable to read Gmail Notification ?
Nope, only way to improve that is to play around with the Themes - try changing them using the app that is included called Themes.

I use honor 7 and the problem appeared notifications do not work, but I know half the solution, when you click on the box in the bottom of the screen Close all programs from the bottom up, do not close every program alone
many other things you can get with "QuickShortcutMaker" at your Honor 7 you will find here:

This is very confusing for typical android users, as this phone tries to save battery by closing all apps, which is a good thing for battery, but not for notifications, so it is very important for the apps that you want to receive notifications, you must protect them - go to Settings, Protected Apps, and turn on the ones you want to protect and stay alive.

Disable test message preview

Is there any way to turn off the preview of text message content on home screen and notification pull down? I don't want to see the content until i choose to open it? I would still like be notified that received a message. I just want to get rid of the preview.
I have the default messaging app installed and when I follow: Messaging App > Menu > Settings > Notifications, the only options are Block, Silent, and Priority. There are no additional options and I don't see anything related to the preview.
This would be a setting in the texting app itself, not a system setting. You can disable the "preview" in the texting app and just get the notification only.

Don't ya just love dumb noob posters. Nearly always with a whinge too.
Had to Google whinge! You must be one our neighbors across the pond? Condolences on the recent tragedy to our British compadres.
No silly questions. Never know how tech familiar someone is.

Haha.
Google indeed. A pity more didn't do that before expecting to be spoon-fed.
And yes, I'm in Liverpool, 30 miles from Manchester.
Your support is appreciated, thank you.
How to hide msg content of all apps on the notification bar
Hi
I want to hide all previews for any notification I get on on my notification bar, be it text, email or whatsapp etc. I just want to see which apps have a new notification and how many new notifications. Many of the apps on the LG G6 do not have a 'PREVIEW' setting so I can't disable that within the apps themselves.
Thank you

Have you tried "partially" swiping to expose the settings for the notification?

Still doesn't help
Thanks skyfox99 for the response. Unfortunately, that doesn't help because that controls the notifications in its entirety. So changing the settings that way controls if I get the notification and what sorts of notification settings I get it with. I just want to hide the content that comes with each notification. So that it just says for e.g.. Whatsapp 3 new msgs from xyz
If anyone can help with this, it would be greatly appreciated!

Android Oreo - unreadable notifications due to white background

I've updated my device to Android Oreo (AOSP Extended) and immediately noticed the new "design choices", which led to the following problem:

That's how it looks like, when I'm trying to download an app using Google Playstore. The progress bar, the name of the app (which is showing the notification) and its icon are completely missing, is there any way to fix this?! Unfortunately I didn't find any way to change the background colour - it would be even better to get rid of the new "everything is white" design, but I would be already happy, if I could at least read my notifcations ^^
I have already spent way too much time searching for a solution, but I didn't find anything (except installing Subtratum Theme Engine, which seems to be a bit unreasonable for just changing the background colour), so you're my last hope

You don't like the new design? It's called Ultra Minimalistic Material. Deal with it, it'll grow on you soon. Besides you should know what's in the notification by now...
jokes aside, just use AEX 5.6. It worked flawlessly. You can also change color on both the rom you have and 5.6, just go to Settings - Display - more

Immersive mode, hide status bar, ignore punch hole (without root)

I found a method for apps to ignore the punch hole to gain screen real estate (with some limitations). I hope some developer can use this to make a system-wide solution.
I did this on my s10e with One UI 3.0.
Inside MultiStar there’s a setting called “The app size stretch to camera hole”, there apps can be set to ignore the camera punch hole. By doing this you allow apps to stretch to the top of the display when hiding the status bar via adb, bx actions, etc. but elements at the top, although usable, will fall under a black or colored box and wont be visible.
Next step is to turn on “waterfall cutout” under settings/developer options/simulate display with cutout. This makes the status bar thinner on any app set to ignore the camera punch hole, and use the full screen when activating immersive modes but launchers, keyboards, edge panels, power menu, app switcher and other UI elements get black bars at both sides of the display.
It wou be amazing to see a workaround to the black bars.
I took some screenshots and edited in the camera hole for reference.

Thank you so much for this method! I have been looking for some way to utilize entire screen (instead of stuck with the default way Samsung hides their punch holes) since I purchased my Note 10. I was following someone else's advice to repack apps and set them to ignore the notch, but MultiStar is way easier to tweak and it works for all apps!

Can you help? Thanks

Install "Nice Lock", it's the "launcher app" for these plugins.
Real(tm) solution: root and use https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/module-n3o-no-nonsense-notch-overlay.4226413/
