EVO Sells Out In-Store & Online

Engadget is reporting that Sprint has sold out on their initial stock of EVO's for their stores and online, and likely BestBuy and The Shack.

Man, I just ordered mine yesterday online and it arrived today (free overnight shipping) ...Phew, that was close!

i had called up 3 different sprint stores and this is what i was told
store 1: sold out, will get new shipment either friday or tuesday
store 2: sold out, taking deposit to reserve one (45 people already on list)
store 3: had few in stock (Silver Spring, MD)

Not sure how I did it to be honest. I'm told I come across as very intimidating.. but I was in no way upset, and understanding of the shortage. Next thing I know I see him go to the locked closet...grab one out of the stack and peel someones name off of it..

Good thing I ordered mine Sunday.. i received it earlier today!

Here in Ohio no better, Went to best buy with my buddy, was quoted as Evo shippment tomorrow and now it's been moved to a nice lovely ambiguous "sometime from wednesday to friday" Here's hoping sooner rather than later but oh well. Here's hoping we can survive the great evo shortage of 2010! (*side note* kinda regretting not pre-ordering sooner, I was 8 people into the 2nd batch forcing me to wait an extra week. BAH!)

its good news, i just wished they had more accessories on launch day!

Decided to give in and pick one of these up yesterday. Couldnt find one in stock anywhere. This morning I was prepared to call every Radio Shack in the area. The 1st one I called said someone just took themselves off the list and that they had one available. I put my name on it, and picked it up 20 minutes later.
I have 2 friends that got theirs this same way. I did pre order one for my girlfriend though while I was there and she will be getting it on Friday.

I just got mine today and I had to call 8 or so sprint stores to find one in stock, ends up the store I got mine at had 10 in stock still from the first shipment and they had given a lot of their first order of 300 to other area stores. Once I got there it took them about 2 and a half hours to activate the flippin thing, my voice and 4g connected but my 3g never came up, took them forever to sort it out. They actually had to activate two evos to figure the problem out. I got 2 boxes and goodies out of the deal though, I am in the kc area too.

Which Sprint store was this? Im also in the KC area and have a few friends wondering if anyone has them in stock. Sounds like that store may be worth a shot.

i ordered mine online last night at 11pm central time and it was available waiting for it to come now ughhhh!!!!! all i have been doing is making lists of apps and what i want to try (been a windows mobile guy since the tilt days currently have a HTC Touch Pro 2 unlocked gotta sell that once my EVO comes in cant wait

Which Sprint store was this? Im also in the KC area and have a few friends wondering if anyone has them in stock. Sounds like that store may be worth a shot.

I scooped mine up from the studio Sprint store, downtown in the power and light district, like 14th and grand, also I got a call from the Sprint store that I was on a waiting list at and they had one for me, i was number 15 I believe.

I ordered mine online on the 7th, and it showed up UPS on the 9th. I couldn't have done better searching around. I say Sprint has come a long way.

I was going to order it online last night and then dumb me second guessed myself and decided to see if i could get lucky in a store today. Now I realize that was a very stupid idea.

how are some of you getting overnight delivery; i placed my order around 12pm PST yesterday and i still haven't received a delivery notification or any updates; it still says waiting in the warehouse for processing; this is annoying me since it's supposed to be overnight delivery

HA! I was on the phone with AT&T getting my new white activated, and I had it on speaker, and I herd the supervisor in the back ground telling all the reps, and I quote
"Ok guys the new Galaxy S3 will not be available in stores until the 28th, so if you have any new calls on it, that's what we tell them."
Glad I got mine this morning...

I'm hoping they are just having their reps say that to get people off their backs, rather than it being actually the real release date. They botched my order, so it never even went in the system, and I didn't find this out until yesterday. Needless to say, I am going to wait for it in the store this time. I'm really hoping for a Sat/Sun release somewhere...

I was told sunday by my store so crossing my fingers that they will have them.

That's what I heard also. They actually don't know. Nothing official has been told to the employees from what I understand.

Told by one store that they were doing a special remodel for Sunday and that they expect to have the GS3 available on Sunday. Told by another store "by the end of the month" and another store Sunday. So... I'm going take the chance and show up on Sunday.

I was told that the store was expecting about a dozen and they expect to sell out of them almost when they get them. So they told me to be up there around noon if i want one.

Not so Good News for Us

Per my chat this morning:
GeraldC: I have checked on the order details and I can see that yes, your current order is being back ordered. Due to the high demand of the device our inventory isn't able to suffice all order from activations and upgrades. The estimated delivery date is 6 weeks from the date the order was made.
You: wow, will it be better to get it from the store?
GeraldC: That depends on the available inventory on our store, you can head to the nearest store on your location to check if there's available one.
You: when are the stores supposed to get them?
GeraldC: Usually if a store runs out of stock, the estimated delivery date is 6 weeks as well since the device is ordered and coming straight from the manufacturer.
You: Do you know when the stores will begin to receive them?
GeraldC: As of now the information is not made available for us, it would be best if you head to the nearest store so that they can give you specific date based on the day when they have made an order for their inventory.

when did you pre-order yours? Mine also says backorder but what's crazy is mine went from pending shipping to backorder.

My pre-order date was the 25th at like 7am.

I couldn't get the system to work the first couple days...didn't pre-order till the 27th... order says processing

Hope your right. I went to my local t mobile store on Saturday and the rep told me that my note 4 should be delivered on the 16th or 17th. He said he was pretty confident of that. Sidenote.. on my order status page under order history it does say backorder where it use to say pending shipping.....hopefully that's because it is not available yet.

I order mine by 9:06 am that day.
I doubt not many people would want a phone this big + its not an apple.

Mine doesn't say backordered, but it really doesn't matter. Their whole system is messed up.

I preordered mine Sept. 27th. Then on Oct. 3rd my status went to being processed and on back order. That's when I did an online chat and I posted the results in the OP. This is for the Note 4.

Stores get them sometimes a full week before release dates. Sometimes they even do a "soft release" when they have it in stock but not on display. You have to know they have it in stock and request it though and there is no way to know that unless a rep tells you or you are in there asking every day.
I got my vibrant (sgs1) this way.... was in store looking to upgrade from my G1 to a g2... saw someone looking at a vibrant right next to me playing Avatar on it n I was like.. "ummmmmm, what phone is that?" Told it was a vibrant, not officially on sale till the next week but I could get it now if I requested it by name cause they had them in stock and were doing a "soft release".

nice thats next friday. hopefully they dont sell out.

same thing happened last year which is why I just go to the store...usually a small line, but you will get one (this is not the iphone)
their online system is whack

Yea, I don't think I'm going to pre-order again in the future, this whole process does seem messy.
For my situation, I have a 4 Year Anniversary so I decided I'd get us a pair of Note 4s. I called the rep and one I was just going to order on my account and the other I was just paying outright for it. Well the rep couldn't process them both at the same time because it triggered some fraud warning. (Oh I was also ordering one of the WiFi calling routers). So after a bit of a hold she came back and said she would have to separate each item and buy them on separate days.
So that day I got the Black one ordered, the next day she called back and got the white one ordered, and finally the 3rd day she called back to order to the WiFi calling router. At that point everything looked great, all orders pending, I was a happy camper (though still wasn't liking the fact that it appears I would get it a couple days after release due to shipping, which after reading the posts here seems like that might be debatable and they might actually arrive early).
Well fast forward a couple days, I was checking the orders cause I'm crazy and impulsive like that and just noticed an update. On my Black N4 and Router they both say 'Pending' still. My White N4 however is now saying backorder! Having a bit of a freakout cause its an anniversary present and timing is critical. And to make matters worse, everyone I seem to talk to says something a bit different and so I've come to the conclusion that nobody really knows. Some say 'Oh our system just says that, but there will be plenty available' or 'I'm sure it will still be sent on time because we haven't had that many orders come in' to 'Oh, yes there has been a very high demand, maybe you can give the one that does make it and yours will just have to wait' or 'The system had a minor glitch and has now been corrected, because of this we now have an update on our stock and thus many orders have been changed accordingly'.
Sooooo yea. Here is keeping my fingers crossed, but just wanted to share that on my account I have two order and one says Pending and the other says Backorder.
Edit: Just to let you know this order process was on 9/24 (black one), 9/25 (white one), 9/26 (router).

Heads up to those going to get their phone at a T-Mobile store...

I just spent 20min waiting outside a T-Mobile store before it opened, the doors finally opened, I tell the rep I would like to buy a Note 4 and to my shock she said "we didn't get any". I called every other store in a 30mi radius and NOBODY has them. So make sure you call before you waste your time driving to the store.
This is all very ironic since I decided not to preorder so I could be one of the first people to get one on launch day I am pretty ticked so I filed a formal complaint, and encourage others to do the same (being polite of course). Stores are suppose to get shipments days in advance of a major product launch.

I live in NW Houston and working in SE Houston/Pasadena area so I called a lot of stores near home and work and about half of them said that Note 4 is sold out (calling within 9am-930am) and the rest said they are still waiting for the shipment and some said they only do store orders and directly shipping it to my home address. One store told me to hurry up in the afternoon because they are only getting 4 units. WTF?

Wow, only 4? I wonder if Samsung is to blame or if it's T-Mobile. Or both. I haven't heard of any other carriers having supply issues yet.

Thank you for lesson learned. I have it since this past Monday already.

I mentioned I didn't preorder since I wanted to have it as soon as possible, I didn't feel like waiting for the UPS truck to show up. I called the minute preorders were up, they said I would get it on the 17th probably in the afternoon.

Sorry to hear you haven't had any luck locating a store with Note 4's in stock.
I'm south of Houston & planned to walk into a store to pick one up but decided to pre-order instead...certainly worked out for the better.

I called 6 different Corp stores and they all said shipment got botched and hopefully ups is delivering them today. Non Corp stores have them. Any reason not to go to a non Corp. At AT&T I got screwed by going non Corp

I've never gone to a non corporate store to get a phone. I know there are some things 3rd party stores can't do. It's kind of funny I actually work in mobile sales for a major company but we don't sell T-Mobile so I have to go get one at a store like everyone else. Our store actually only had 3 to sell as of last night when I got off(the rest of the shipment we got was all in store pickups for preorders) and I mentioned to management how BS that was.

Now that we know, ordering at the store is not it. Now you can tell UPS to hold your package while its on its way and you just pick it up at the service center. Everyone that live near KY gets free upgrade to next day air.

Got mine this morning at 10am. Showed up to the store at 9 and they told me they didn't have any and when I called at 10 they told me they had gotten 10 in and to hurry

As of 12:00 a vast majority of the stores in the bay area don't have any but one had a few whites and another had a few white and one black.

I was the same. I was really mad. but I got mine from a different store. The funny thing is all the guys at tmobile had a new shirt has the next big thing is here and they have nothing in stock

I played with the Note 4 for a bit but going to probably wait and see how I like the Nexus 6. The store only had a few left of the 8 they got.

I called 10 stores this morning in my area for 2 white (for a friend - got mine Wed). 7 had sold out already, 2 will not get their shipments in until after 3pm and 1 had 2 left. Unfortunately, they won't hold them so he's gonna try his luck at those 2 stores since the last store is an hour and half drive and likely won't be stocked when he gets there.
From what the stores told me, most of them got 2 white and 2 black and received their shipment later than expected but still sold out quickly. I'm surprised - they had so many s5 on launch day but I guess the Note 4 is a different breed!

Guess samsung just wants to "sell out"

So much for Samsung spending millions on marketing and promoting their phones only to mess up their store launch day
Well I dont even know if this is Samsung's or Tmo's fault.
Oh, there one store 60 miles away from me expecting the delivery in 30 mins. Crossing my fingers that I'll be able to get one 2 hrs from now. Cant leave work yet

all the other stores said to call or go back at 11 am to 2 pm to see if they already had them.

Bestbuy releasing early?

Left my local bestbuy last night and a couple blueshirts there told me that they would be releasing the S7 and S7 Edge this Monday. I was pre-ordering and asked when it came out and they told me I could pick it up on monday.
So if you preordered from bestbuy i'd recommend calling them and seeing if they are also releasing it early.

I don't know how truthful BestBuy is. I got my pre-ordered T-Mobile S7 on the 3rd of March and was told by my local BestBuy store that they had the Otterbox cases in stock for the S7. So I drive over to the store and find out that they have the cases in stock but won't be releasing them until the 11th of March because that's when the phones will be released. I will NOT be going back to BestBuy again!

I bought a surround sound system from them a month ago. He told me i was gonna get a discount and hed hook me up with an hdmi and optical cable. Then he was tryin to talk me into joinin their "rewards program" it was like every $100 you get a dollar or something. I was like, "it'd take me so long, im good" but i bought a tv a couple months before so he said i could get credit for that aswell. So finally i said, "well, your not gonna send me a bunch of emails if i sign up are you". He said, " haha noooooo"!
Long story kinda shortened.
I paid full price for the SS system.
I got a wopping $5 off a used hdmi cable. Which was $20
Paid full price for optical audio cable $25
Then at the end i said oh can we add my tv to the rewards program. (Of course the salesman left so i was left with some kid to check me out)
He said, "oh man we'd have to call customer service and i dont think theyd do it anyway"

The following weeks im flooded with best buy emails, i unsubscribe at least 10 times with no stop to it. Finally have to call a 800 number and scream at them to make it stop.

big thread on reddit about this: multiple best buy mobile employees confirmed it, and users who went there confirmed it. people got calls to pickup on monday too.
pisses me off bc i chose shipping instead of in store (for the first time ever with best buy) bc i was worried they'd run out of stock before my preorder was fulfilled, so i wouldn't be able to walk in friday and get it. did shipping, thinking they'll def have enough in a warehouse.
yeah, and now they release early lol. so mad.

Pre ordered from Best buy about 2 hours after they started taking pre orders and I haven't received notification yet.

They had no idea what I was talking about, and reaffirmed the 11th as the release date. This was yesterday, today my GF got a call that our phones have arrived and that we can pick them up tomorrow.

My preorder confirmation said they would Email me when the items were ready. By chance, did they mention if the Gear VR was ready for pickup also?

Sorry, She didn't think to ask about the Gear VR. I'll call to ask. Our preorder confirmation states the same about notification of pickup.

Same thing happened to me. They had a Samsung rep there and I even showed him the phone, still wouldn't sell it. I went to U.S. Cellular, AT&T and even the new T-Mobile store in my town but neither had cases yet. Verizon store had the stuff out on display already so i bought my case and screen protector there.
I wondered who the *#&@ cares if I buy a piece of plastic for a phone that isn't "out yet"? I am giving you money, why do you care?! It was dumb as f.

Just got off the phone with my local BestBuy, they said that it should be no problem. She mentioned it would be FCFS based on available stock, dunno if this means you can get one shipped later, or if you are sol.

Well...that's kind of strange. The Best Buy website now shows the expected release date for the phone on my order as: "Null"?
The other 2 items still show expected release of 3-11-2016.
Edit: They just now changed the expected release date to 3-7-2016.

Yeah. I ordered two actually, got two seperate emails. I tried looking them up, but it says the name and phone number are wrong, didnt say anything about order number being wrong.
Edit: nevermind, it was under my old name. My att acct is kinda wonky haha.
