[YouTube] Moto G 2nd gen running Lollipop - G 2014 General

I waded through all the spam and robotically dubbed crap on YouTube, and FINALLY found someone who's actually bothered to make a brief video... so here it is:

wooww...
waiting for lollipop ..
:fingers-crossed:

It's happening

Actually, the stock launcher is the Google Now Launcher...that's why you can say "ok google"...
I've just flashed the Lollipop for my Nexus 7, since the stock image doesn't come with the Now launcher, the UI was the same old stuff until I download it from playstore...

Nice!

As long as you have the option selected in the Google Now settings you can say " Ok Google " from any screen with any launcher. I'm using Apex and it works just fine.

Official Stock 4.2 launcher for any galaxy tab 2. No root required!

I found the stock 4.2 launcher online and it said you needed a rooted device to use it, my tab 2 7.0 isn't rooted but I was like "ehh....what the heck? Can't hurt to try!" So I downloaded it and it installed and works great! Super smooth and fast! I love it! Still not sure how it worked but here is the link - http://d-h.st/hRk and here is a screenshot -

I was also able to get the cm10 trebuchet launcher to work. For some reason it crashes whenever I try and put a widget on my home screen. Not sure why but here is the link - http://ge.tt/m/1tVzoxV

Unfortunately because it is the stock launcher, no. It is just fast, smooth, and light on memory. It doesn't have the customization options of nova, holo, apex, etc. It is like what the nexus 7 has by default.

[Q] Google Experience Launcher on Nexus 4?

Am I missing something here? After the 4.4 update, there is no trace of the magic "Ok Google" ala Nexus 4 and the fonts, UI, and all are still the same. Only the annoying white indicators are here.
Nope, you aren't missing anything. Sadly, Google kept all the good things about 4.4 exclusive to the Nexus 5. You have to sideload the GEL apk and flash a modded framework zip file to get transparency on the lock screen.

Yes, you are missing something that has been discussed a million times on all android sites and this forum. Try searching.
Only Nexus 5 has the Google Experience Launcher by default.
It is pretty sad that even the new wallpapers are N5 exclusive. I recommend the N5 port if ROMs are your cup of tea.

No modded framework is necessary for any of that. All you need is the latest GSearch and launcher apk (can be found here. Enables GEL, N5 wallpapers, and transparency.)

Not transparency on the lock screen. To do that you need to flash a zip.

No you don't, all you need is launcher apk and google search updated (its already updated on the playstore for me). You don't need to flash anything on 4.4

[Q] Questions about gpad GPE

Just got my lg gpad 8.3 gpe and had a few questions.
1. Is there a way to remove home screen pages Or do I always have to have 5?
2. I am trying to find a remote app but can't find one. I know on my s4 I have watch on. I was wondering if there is remote app I can download so I can use the ir blaster.
I would really appreciate the help. Thanks
I can answer about the home screen. Unfortunately you can't remove any screens, that's the limitation of the stock Android launcher, you can install the GEL launcher or any other launcher for that matter. I hear Apex is a very good replacement.
I would also be interested to find a working remote app, have tried but haven't found anything useful yet. Hopefully someone knows.

Apparently the IR-blaster in the G Pad is different from the likes found in HTC and the Note's.. Sadly, they only work on stock LG rom atm. For Google and LG to partner up and sell a device that will continue to not support it's own hardware seems retarded, I reckon it's a matter of time before LG does something about it..
Home screen pages, as mentioned above, is simply a limited feature of the new AOSP stock launcher, it sucks and it's ridiculous. I can't stand that launcher. There's not ONE customizable thing about it. Jesus.
.. Customizable isn't a word, is it?..

So what I'm hearing so far is download another launcher because the stock one sucks? Lol okay I'll try some out. Also what I'm hearing is there is no current way to use the ir blaster on my g pad? That's kinda hard to believe and dissapointing if true.

You could try Nova or Apex. Those are pretty heavy on customization.
I'm sorry, but you heard right. Here on my v500 with CM 11 rom I havn't been able to find any IR apps that works yet. :\ Even tried to flash scripts and QRemote and so on. It just doesn't take fully. No pairing with devices at all.
Another question;
does face detection work on the GPE?

Yeah seems to work normally.
And really confused why google hasnt put an app out for the ir blaster... I mean they advertise it on their tablet but make it impossible to use?
I just got my GPE too. After pulling the update and unlocking the bootloader , I started to set it up with Action Launcher, but ended up with Nova. Nova supports 4.4 's transparent notification bar--I like the look. I also like no icon labels.
I haven't messed with the IR blaster yet.

I really hope someone finds a way to use it. I'm really sad one Cuz its of the reasons why I got the gpad over nexus 7
The main area of the visible user interface (UI) that controls home screens and such - and it looks nice enough. It's not Nexus Android levels of clear, but you do get some fixes for those minor pure Android annoyances.

Nexus 6 launcher?

Does anybody know how i can get Nexus 6's launcher onto the Note 4. I install Google Now launcher and it gives me a 4x4 grid. But all the Nexus 6 vids show a 5x5 grid utilising the resolution properly. Is it some modified Google now launcher? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm not here to boast about anything Note or Nexus related. I just like that launcher and am just very curious. Thanks.
Did you long press on the screen and then modified your settings, if i remember correctly you can change it from there, another option its to use a launcher like Nova wich its my favorite, for some weird reason google now launcher drains my battery fast :-/

I know of XposedGEL I was looking thanks stefantumi. I was looking for a method that wouldn't require root though. Honestly I thought Google just made it dependent on the screen resolution really or if anything it's a different apk that could be easily extract-able and honestly I'm kind of surprised nobody else has brought this up yet I guess I'm just picky.
Nova launcher was my first thought too pikul, and I AM running it on a 5x5 grid. I'll try extracting the apk from the factory image of the nexus 6 and see if i can install that.

Pixel 2 Launcher Released

Apkmirror has the new Pixel 2 Launcher: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...ixel-launcher-p-4275643-android-apk-download/
According to this article: http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/1...-including-new-pixel-2-features-apk-download/ it works on any device with Android 5.0 or higher.
Edit: I finally found that it has already been posted. I searched before posting this, but apparently I didn't search good enough. Mods feel free to close this thread, and sorry.

I hadn't seen it until your post. Leave it up it really helped. Just installed it and I really like it on my Pixel.
Just installed on my N8. Pretty nice, I might leave it up for a little while. I've always been a Nova launcher guy.

I've not had any issues with it. I'm running stock Oreo on a Pixel XL though.

I installed this on a Nexus 5x and it works just fine. Though it is "stock" android so should be less fussy.
I really hate that the search bar is not removable and neither is the calendar widget. Although it is on 7.1.2 so maybe on Oreo I could change something in settings. I also hate that the screens don't loop around, since I've been using Apex launcher and have used Nova before also.
The tiny icons in the app drawer and the search function is way overdue. Even if I know the name of an app, I'll often miss it from flipping through the ton of app drawer screens too quickly. I can go through the tiny icons visually a whole lot faster.
There are definitely some useful features that I hope others pull into their launchers.
Edit: Doesn't work on my Note 4 on 6.0.1 stock.
Can someone please post and share the latest version of the Pixel Launcher. The one on APKMirror is that of the initial version. Went to my local Best Buy and played around with the Pixel 2 phones there and both had a newer launcher version. I believe it started with 8.1-something.
