Devs please make sure you parse apps right that is the biggest problem people forget to check also. You must get rid of all eris files. This is a sdk build and really needs alot of changes to make work.

So they look "leaky" haha, clear photos don't look underground enough. I think its hilarious how so many people complain about how crappy gingerbread is but then complain when they don't have it after 3 seconds of it being released!
I know this thread will get closed quickly, but I did just want to express my thanks to all the devs here for all the hard work and energy you put into our toys. You guys deserve honor for what you do because many of you have families, real jobs, and real lives and you do all this for free.
But time is money and it costs you many hours so that we can load ridiculously cool software and soup our phones up, again, for free!
Its time we started giving honor, respect, and donations where it belongs. I apologize for the way some people have treated yall here, its not okay. I also think though that those of us who are appreciative need not be silent anymore, as unexpressed gratitude comes across as ingratitude. I am on here a lot checking for updates and downloadin new roms and probably need to speak up more on the positives. I think people only post when something goes wrong: if everything's smooth we silently bask in the rom glory, but if one bug comes our way we blow up the threads.
I know I am generalizing and this doesn't apply to everyone, but this is just what I've observed. Once again I honor you guys for the the skill, talent, and generosity you have to do all these amazing roms and kernels and themes for us. I know you do it for fun but seriously thank you!

Thats right people, lets all just be thankful we have devs out there supporting our phone. Even if some are split between projects and can't devote full attention to the Dinc, at least its SOMEBODY. At the end of the day, the majority of us would take one look at some code and go "screw that". These people got some major skill, and I'm thankful for ALL the devs every time I see my Dinc with a CM6 bootscreen (And others can insert their own ROM touches, Myn, SR, etc..).
I've always been meaning to really thank the devs here but I never know who to really thank anymore I mean rmk thanks for virtuous ncx I'm sure that's wrong but thanks your your awesome clocks whoever made my iron man splash screen thanks thanks to everyone who has made the eighty million mods I frankenstine into my phone. Without you all my phone would be lame and with you I have something I show off everyday. Thanks a lot to everyone you guys put a lot into stuff that gives close to nothing back and that is just idk awesome lol. I'm done with this thanks rant now. Lol I think we created a thanks thread for now and not a gingerbread one.

I was going to start a new thread in general just for everyone to thank all the XDA devs working on the Incredible, but this one seems to have that vibe going. Who knows, maybe I still will make that thread. But anyways I just wanted to throw my thanks out there to the devs cause without you this whole forum wouldn't even be here. I know *some of you guys* got trashed earlier on other threads, and I'm sorry for that. I guess some people just got caught up in the smell of gingerbread fresh out of the oven. I hope you guys know that there are those of us who really do appreciate your work and although those like myself don't have the knowledge to write our own code, I personally am willing to help and contribute any way I can. So my hats off to you devs, keep fighting the good fight.

On a more interesting note.. I've been taking breaks from finals studying to play with the new sdk. My first couple attempts of a pure gingerbread rom for inc all resulted in boot loops. I'll definitely have more time to fuss around with it later today though. So, hold your freakin horses. Beggers can't always be choosers

I'm working on this as well; boot looping here too. Free time is limited right now, though, so I'm not sure if I'll have anything usable before the new year.
Agree with everyone thanking the devs. You guys are awesome. Thanks for helping free us from the grasps of our carriers and use the full potential of our phones!!!!
I just want to post my thanks to all the developers. One of the reasons i purchased an android phone in the first place is the massive mod community that it had. My experience has been amazing and what some of you guys do is beyond what i can even imagine myself accomplishing with the same tools. The few asshats that get bent of shape every time something doesn't work exactly how they want are just that, the few and the loud. They do not speak for the majority and should be penalized for their disrespect.
As much as i could denounce ****ers like AndroidStu and papi, i understand where IncDoes is coming from. He, along with many other devs, give us all these things that they created in their free time completely free of charge. They owe us nothing and only share their creation with us. I am ashamed to be grouped with such ungrateful ****tards.
I'd also like to take some time to post a quick thanks to our dev community. You guys are superhuman.

Yep it's easy to get in a rut and forget and/or take for granted what these guys do. I used to theme for Blackberry and especially when I had multiple themes going, it seemed to consume every ounce of my free time. And what I was doing is like tinkertoys compared to what these guys are doing...no comparison. Not even in the same universe.
There have been some unfortunate events that have occured in the last day or so but regardless of what and when 2.3 advancements hit...my sincere thanks to all who make this phone and community a better place.

+1000. i can wait for Gingerbread. between cyanogen's rom, seanzers' CM6 fixes, invisiblek's kernels and everything else available for the DInc I've got an awesome phone and I'm hella grateful. i would be remiss to not at least shout out all the rest of the devs out there who are doing their thing as well.
the only person I know who'd hate on Devs is my wife, who feels like she's lost me to ROM flashing, kernel swapping, radio upgrading and all the other shenanigans that go with have root, bloody root.
I must also say thanks to all the devs the DInc has

As the Moderator of this Forum, I want to thank all of you for being such a great Group. I find this Group one of the best in XDA, helpful, considerate and dedicated to the "let's try to improve our experience" on the Vibrant.
Now the S3 is coming ..... we will see many leave and move on...... This is to be expected...... but I am always sorry to see the waning of a great group of people...... such as all of you.
You know, the Vibrant has had an amazing run of support, more so than almost any other device.... I still love my Vibrant......even though I have a G-Nex and a Note...... I learned most skills on the Vibe....... and still love using it.
Anyway, Here at XDA we appreciate all the developers, Modders, Themers, and all the other contributing members such as yourselves...... that make XDA.

I had a choice of getting a Nexus S or a Vibrant and had a few days to decide. I used those days to browse both fora. I am glad to say that I picked the right one. I have met many good people here and hope that the crop of newer users will be as cordial, intelligent and helpful.
This is way more useful than my tablet forum (oka1 is the mod there too). Over there it is hard to post anything without 15 responses about how you are wrong or that doesn't work for me. It makes it real frustrating. But it also makes me appreciate the Vibrant threads much, much more.
I think partly it is due to the fact that we didn't really get any official updates.
Yeah we got Froyo after much gnashing of teeth, but it wasn't OTA.
It was more of an afterthought especially since you needed to use Kies to install it. But even without Samsung/T-Mobile support, we were among the first phones running ICS. How does that even happen?
It is because we are all hungry for all the improvements that have come available for our phones, and we are extremely thankful and grateful to those that provide them to us. We were all in the same boat, and that led to an appreciation that some of the other forums do not have (or even understand).
The nature of the internet is inherently selfish, as most people demonstrate when they feel relatively anonymous, but we really do have a good community here.
I have asked a lot of questions along the way since I joined. Some were noobish, some were dumb, but no one mocked me for asking. Other people just helped get me on the right track. You can't ask for more than that, and to have those kinds of interactions in an online forum is remarkable. That spirit has led to many users becoming developers and creating new kernels and ROMs for this phone, and giving back to the community.
Also, it helps that the hardware in our phones is still relevent after 2 years...high end specs help a lot. People just seem to want to dev for this phone. As much as I would love to get a new phone such as the One S or the GS3, it is hard to justify when this phone is still chugging along just fine.
Thank you Oka1. If this is one of the best groups on XDA, then you've got to be one of the best moderators on XDA. It's been a good run, two years, and it's been an inspiring two years at that. I've learned things I never knew before, been helped when stuck or inquisitive, and in turn I've done my best to help the community in return. You guys are great, all of you here on the Vibrant forum (except the guy who ranted at mr_psycho). Woodrube, xriderx66, dougfresh, Oka1, and s15274n are just a few of the people I've been given the privilege to converse with here. Of course there are others, but then I'd practically be naming everyone in the Vibrant community!
It's funny, one day I was asking how to remove CWR because I thought it was bad for my phone and then the next I was flashing custom roms... One day I was asking people how to install Miui on my phone and then the next I was making a guide about it. I've leaned a lot here and thus I thank all of you guys.
Since I'm not good with speeches and what not. I love you all! Seriously. This was my second smartphone, I had a meh experience with the G1 and this has been the best, and I KNOW that nothing can be better than this.
Even if you are leaving, be sure to come back once in a while and say hello
I was such a noob entering into the flashing world had the g1 and hd2. Wasn't impressed with either (didn't know about any of this stuff) when I got my vibrant and was curious I stumbled into xda,edt and the axura forums. Wow was I clueless on the capabilities of these phones. As the 21st nears and I know the gs3 will soon be in my hot little hands I wish to thank oka for everything he's done for this forum. I will not yet bid farewell however.

No Oka, thank YOU man! I know I don't host over here anymore, and don't respond to much either, but this post deserves it.
We all owe it to you for cleaning up this forum and putting those habitual line steppers in check, before you came around here, man, this place was a disaster in many threads.
I too love my Vibrant, it birthed my dev "career", when the day comes that I do upgrade, its going to be a sad one indeed, and I don't think I'll ever get rid of Betsy. More like enshrine her in a glass case on the mantle, and tell my grandkids stories of how Oka1 came riding over the hills and cleaned up this one horse town, making it a pleasing experience for all the devs, themers, and users alike.

Just playing; im very happy with this community as well.. it has really made my xda experience a very enjoyable one.
The vibrant is quite a legend and even though sometimes the flagships can tempt me, i know that this is all ill need for a couple more years.
Tbh though, once my contract runs out, this will become my backup or go to my family members (my mother still uses a moto SLVR from like 2004 lol)

im from malaysia, we didnt have samsung vibrant here, but i happened to get myself 1. i just want to say that i still like this phone very much even though i have a note. yea, we lack of updates, but thanks to all developers here, my vibrant gets a new life. they've done so much for us (needless to say what). would like to say thanks a million to all developers for your hard works. btw, im not going to leave this forum, i still love my vibrant...peace
Got my Vibe on release day 2010. I have many friends with many diff android devices and have never seen the collective collaboration like I have seen here. The amount of support this device has received is incredible to say the least. Thank you Oka1, devs and supporting members that turned me from flash noob, to flash intermediate. Been on these forums for two years. Outstanding community and I've had SO MUCH fun. Upgrading the the Galaxy 3 in a few weeks and I will see you all over there!
Let me start by first apologizing for my absence from the development community.
Most of my followers know the reason, but yes at times life need's to be give priority over development .
I still remember the days when a ROM release from us used to crash the servers and the numbers used skyrocket, well i am sure every one misses it as much as i do. Well let me be honest with we bought a change in this ecosystem with the kitchen concept 2yrs back with KitchnPro and today probably every one is using the kitchen concept.
I have seen developers do great work over at XDA and really appreciate what they do and the amount of time they spend on it. Apart from them what real development is happening over at xda its just Unpacking, Deodexing and then repacking!
I don't really want to do the same i really want to do something different so it will help out everyone in the community to grow.
So the team has switched focus towards creating Kick-ass apps on this Rom space that already exists and which lacks good app developers we basically plan to fill this void. We have a few apps in the cooker which are due to there release dates and we are looking forward to the community for more great ideas towards app development coz i seriously think we can contribute much more on that space than at pure ROM development.
Time and the lack of innovation is what is holding us back to create Rom's its just pointless to do it over and over agin it just gets boring after some time and this is the absolute truth of why we have not payed attention towards rom development.

As a Start to our app's initiative we have decided that we will no longer keep KitchenPro locked to checkrom users.
To give back something to this great community we will be giving Kitchen Upload rites to fellow developers over at XDA so that the kitchen becomes a massive Root Market place from where you can download anything for your device anytime.
So no mater you be a SGS2 or SGS3 or Note or Note 2 user if your developer wants to use/host content on the kitchen they can.
We are in the process of building a web based Kitchen upload directory where independent app developers can host there content which can be downloaded by the general public over a foray of devices. (we looking for a kick-Ass web developer too)
Though the development process will take time but at least you know whats coming.
Rom's or not we will give app to every one for free!

i think CheckROM was the first rom i flashed the day my S2 arrived. seems like so long ago now, i guess it was lol but it was a great rom.
hope you can do something as good with JB although i'm happy enough on the stock firmware thats out at the moment

I have attempted to port the galaxy nexus miui v5 build to the mesmerize/fascinate. Since I am really new to this and don't have any faith in myself, I'm looking for a person to test the port I made. PM me if you are interested.
If no one is interested, I would at least appreciate if someone who knew a little about porting could take a look at my build.
PM me if you are willing to check my zip file for any errors.
This is all in hope of bringing an unofficial port of MIUI v5 to the fascinate/mesmerize community. Since I'm new to porting, this process might take longer than it would for a experienced developer. I also hope to get help from the other willing developers.

I totally agree with Unjustified Dev, why not make it public in the Dev thread? My ROM is a perpetual work-in-progress and people still download it The folks here nowadays are all pretty willing to throw things on their phone and give feedback, and most really know what they are doing and what their expectations are.
Have faith in yourself! As long as it boots, somebody will definitely use it. Clearly state something like [WIP] in the title and give them a written warning near the download link about making sure they are all backed up to cover yourself
Now is a good time and this is a good place to "cut your teeth", I think. These phones are pretty old and most of the casual flashers have moved on, leaving us with a smaller yet more experienced community! If you use the AOKP or CyanogenMod MTD ROMs as a reference point, you'll probably be in pretty good shape much faster than you may expect.

I agree to I would be happy to flash this if I had a computer to Odin with but just post it up like I did with AOCP after enough feedback I got AOCP working even though the Dev came in and requested it gone bunch of asses anyway haha just post it you'll get more feedback I can't wait to see what you get figured out maybe well get miui after all

I can't believe how much work they put into these things and then throw them up here for free (donations hardly account for the time and effort).
So anyways, on to the topic.
I have tested out a few roms but I am still hesitant to flash too hastily. I was wondering if anyone has tried a few of the AOSP varient roms (PA 3+, Slim Beam, AOKP Task650, PAC and CM 10.1) and which is providing the best battery life while remaining nimble. I am currently running PA 3+ and I am in love with Pie and Halo. I am aware that Halo is open source. I don't want to, but I could let go of Pie. So any ideas? I own a SGH-I337.

My two favorites have always been Task650's aokp and PA 3+
Task's ROMs have always been good to me on speed, stability, and battery life.. I have had mixed results depending on the device with PA 3+.. I tested PA 3.56 the other day but I'm waiting to flash again till a few more updates hit then we'll see
I'm currently on a touchwiz rom basically for the camera and ir blaster but again if I was going run aosp again (which I'm sure I will lol ) it will be one of those 2

Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. AOKP is the top runner of ROMs I wanted to try next. Is the battery life or performance noticeably better than PA 3+?

I'm not sure on the newer PA as I ran the first release for the s4 but I get about 13hrs from tasks aokp and around 15 hours on touchwiz ROM.. So for me I still consider that good but you'll have to see for yourself.. Every chip and every users use is different.. Also make sure you run each ROM you try for a few days.. Kernels take a few days to really settle in and start giving you optimum battery life

Many people have tried them. Read the threads and test them out. It all comes down to personal preference, which is why these types of threads are not allowed.

The only way to calm those nerves is to just read read read. And then bite the bullet and flash. You'll realize how easy it is once you actually understand what you're doing and not just listening to "customer reviews".

I've got CM 10.1 running on mine and I like it. A few things I miss over stock but I'm sure they will be brought back. Although with the newest nightly release I am not having any trouble anymore. Battery life is pretty on par with stock, I'm sure I could adjust settings but I am still getting used to it. Reminds me of more of a computer setup which I like. Oh and I did a few tweaks on it and when connected to good internet it is lightning fast on the download/browser side and just fast and smooth in general.
As far as flashing it, it was a piece of cake.

i, for one, look for these type of threads if i've been away a while and want to find out what roms are most stable/popular right now. i never understood why this question was so taboo around here. not everyone wants to or has the time to read pages upon pages before we flash.
thank you to all the devs/testers/members for always making this such an amazing place

So you don't have the time to read through a thread regarding a ROM that a dev took the time to make for you, but you have plenty of time to go and flash it? What a way to thank them that is. Cause saying "thank you to all the devs" is a cop out. And ending a post like that with that sentence is just a slap in the face to every one of those individuals.

If there were hundreds of ROMs available for each device, I could understand allowing these type of threads. The simple fact is with only a (relatively) small selection, the debate of "which ROM is better" is just so independent of user habits and preferences that they really hold no merit. Look at how long the "Ford or Chevy" debate has been going on.... If you're looking for a ROM that has specific features such as PIE, or Halo; that just lowers the number of available ROMs pretty drastically. How time-consuming is it to read a ROM's OP, which usually shows known bugs, and then test-drive a few of the ROMs to see which you prefer? With the right apps, it shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes to have a clean-flashed ROM feeling like you've been using it for days. As for rooted/stock TW, look at the mods that are included. If it looks appealing, try it out. The amount of ROMs available with specific features relative to other ROMs is so small that it really shouldn't take more than a week to determine which ROM(s) you prefer; battery life not withstanding. Notice I didn't say which one would become your daily driver or favorite As for battery life, user's definition of "heavy use" differs pretty greatly. I personally put my phone through some "heavy use" today; almost 2 hours screen-on time. To someone else that would be classified as moderate, etc.
My advice, which really doesn't amount to much of anything, but still.... pick your ROM the same as you would pick your device; which choice provides (in good working condition) the features I want most? Second choice would be "Out of the ROMs which provide the specific features I want, from which ROM did I notice the best battery life?"

not sure why you're so sensitive about this buddy....
you have to understand that not all of us are on the same level here. i have been a member of this community for 7 years now...longer than many. but i can't keep up with probably 90% of the users on this board. for me, i am just never going to be able to keep up to date on everything currently going on in dev world. It takes me MANY hours when i come back to the board to find something out, flash a rom, pick a new phone, etc. i just do not have time to really read through every thread on every rom i am considering. i'm not a high enough user or up to date enough that when i read about one phone has from another i will understand what is different. so the only way i can really "get" what is a good rom, is by reading in a thread like this. call my praise a cop out, but i do appreciate this community and it's dev's more than you know, and i don't feel reading a 100 page thread is the way to show appreciation.
I completely understand both sides of this argument. I think we should respect the devs whole heartily. But what's the matter with getting some personal opinions from a few other users? Maybe create a thread specifically from ROM reviews. I have done a considerable amount of reading and as I said I feel that I have barely scratched the surface. This is a process with a steep learning curve and I believe it should be a main purpose of a forum devoted to android and development that people should be able to ask other users their opinion. I will not create part such as this any more because it is not allowed, but I do not see the harm.

you said one word in your post that is exactly the type of word that i think is why people do NOT like these kinds of threads: REVIEWS.
and i get that. all of these devs work hard and they put a lot of themselves out there for the world....to potentially be judged, to some extent, by noobs like us, that don't know any better, and couldn't do any better. And yes, some devs are ahead of others, but this forum has always been gracious and respectful to ALL devs and all dev work. And i have seen threads with polls of which users use which rom, and i think having some roms out there to just be judged, bashed, or ignored, is partly why the community disapproves of any thread that might "discuss" a which ROM is best type of conversation. I think there is a way to do it and still be very helpful to some, and more importantly, respectful to all.

A thread which reviews different ROMs sounds good in theory. A one-stop place to quickly scan through the pro's and con's of each ROM and read what other users are saying about each ROM does seem like a good idea. But think of 2 weeks from now; when most every ROM has posted an updated version, merged new changes, fixed certain bugs, introduced new bugs, and added new features. Within a month's time it would become so cluttered and disjointed that new members/device owners would just post a new thread asking the same exact question because it's faster than reading through 100 pages of the original topic. A ROM review thread would almost certainly be just like each individual ROM's development thread put into one place. Way too long to read, one user complaining, a handful echoing the complaint, another handful giving praise, etc.
On an unrelated note, if I remember correctly, there is a thread here on the AT&T side saying something like "Noob friendly, no question too stupid" or something. Instead of posting new threads about the same tiresome topics, why not find a relevant thread and post the question there? Example: if you want clarification on how to root your device, post it in an already established rooting thread. If you want to know which recovery is best or suggestions on what ROM to flash, try a noob-friendly "ask any question" thread.

Love slimbean loyal user ran it on my last 3 devices use it current very stable if u like the smaller DPI like I do its great and never seen a bug that wasn't an upstream issue
