[Q] WIll I get updates after switching to stock ROM - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I had rooted and replaced my stock S4 rom with a custom ROM ,as the stock S4 ROM was really slow. But now, the stock S4 Lollipop update seems promising , so I want to switch back to my previous rom.
I just have one question . After switching back to stock ROM , will I continue to recieve OTA updates from Samsung, or would I require to keep on flashing the latest ROM's manually ???
Thank you , it will be of great help if someone can answer this.

[Q] So how do i get back?

Hi XDAians.
Guys i own a Samsung galaxy S4-I9505 and few months ago i tried root it and some how i did it successfully and later i unrooted it again i am using back the same stupid touchwiz but the problem i am facing is,
1.My phone doesnt gets automatic updates.(i have to do it manually by downloading firmware from samfirmware and then installing it through Odin)
2.Knox cant be installed.
3.The camera app sucks to the coreeeee auto focus sucks every time i get a blued image. out of 5 i only get one clear image
3.After my 4.4.2 update, i cant hide apps. And the touchwiz is so much bad compared to 4.3 .
So my question is is there any way i can fix those above problems?
Now i am willing to root it back again hence i wanted to know which custom rom comes with all the system apps and software(such as wifi direct etc etc) pre installed as touchwiz and which lets me free do play with it!!!
last time i installed CM i didnt have wifi at all and it was really a mess to get that (actually i didnt ) so unfortunately had to get back to touchwiz .
Guys please link me to full root tutorials and how to install custom rom too.

[Q] lollipop official stock problems

Hi im a bit of a noob when it comes too this flashing business but i managed to update my i9505 to lollipop using odin and the official stock rom but the problem i have now is my network signal is now terrible where it was good before is ther anyway that a noob like me can fix this issue? Im in uk on giffgaff (o2)
i have never rooted my s4 before and if some one has a noob guide for rooting from lollipop so i can custom rom it up i might give that a look too, I wouldnt mind a nice slim custom rom with a few extra tweeks and without all the google and samsung rubbish that comes standard..
Thanks
P.s sorry for all the questions and sorry if this is in the wrong section
The signal problem is probably caused by the modem.
You have to flash the latest modem for your phone, country and carrier.
If you already are on the latest modem then a lollipop modem might help.
Here you can find a guide on how to root lollipop.
If you want a slim rom you better try CM12 or GPE. If you like touchwiz then look for a touchwiz based lollipop rom around the forum.

Is your phone branded or unlocked? Coz this is very important. UK(O2) still without lollipop update. This is the possible reason that you are receiving weak network signal.

[Q] Trouble flashing new roms afterLP stock flash. (N910F)

Hi guys,
I really hope someone can point me in the right direction here, I'd really appreciate it!
I've never had to ask for help before with flashing one of my devices, and have flashed hundreds of times with my previous phones, S3, S5 and Note3 .. However this one has me a bit stumped. I have the Note4 N910F and I see many awesome LP ROMS seem to require that you flash stock 5.0.1 via Odin before flashing the custom ROM.
I managed to do this successfully with the ROM listed at Sammobile called "Unknown 5.0.1 N910FXXU1BOC3 N910FTPD1BOC1" - Everything is OK, boots perfectly and I have cell signal and LTE. Rooting was also a non-issue. The problem I have though is that no matter which custom recovery I try, and regardless of ROM that I try, all seem to get stuck in a boot loop at the Samsung screen.
Am I doing or have done something horribly wrong?
Please help!
I think I may have answered my own question. The stock ROM I flashed was BOB3, it seems I need to be on BOB4, which is the German based ROM. Busy downloading that now!

Why can't you flash custom rom's with BOB3 installed?

Lollipop update on Galaxy GT-i9515

Hi everybody,
I need help with my rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 Value Edition (gt-i9515, running 4.4.2). I'd like to update it to lollipop and I can't find any specific tutorial for the i9515, which for some reasons seems to be different from the basic i9505 version. I'm running the official rom, since there isn't any support for custom roms on the i9515.
Somebody help me please
Official Update

Download the ROM from sammobile and flash it with Odin. You will need to re root and please bear in mind that xposed currently does not work on Samsung Lolipop ROMs

Dude
Just download the latest Lollipop from Samsung and you will be always safe.
To install a Custom Lollipop you should first flash the respective Bootloader and Modem that are contained into Samsung's release.
What I've told you will ALWAYS work. Flash a Sammobile firmware corresponding to the Custom ROM version you are intending regardless if it's LL or MM.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/5-0-1-dn-rom-e-team-t3031712
and want to try this mm custom rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/rom-erobot-rom-note4-1-0-xxu2dpcb-t3357271
but maybe get some issue and want to return to my old rom ditto rom so when i want to try any custom rom even mm or lolipop i need to flash stock one by odin then flash custom rom even from mm to lolipop or just flash bootloader and modem ...
thx in advance
Hi ammarsg
To play safe and assure everything will work fine you should always match the ROM firmware code with your Bootloader+Modem Code
For example:
If you flash a Lolipop 5.1.1 XXU1AOH2 would be great if your BL+Modem could have the same code. This is not always possible so you have to find the closest one regarding your model/region.
The same will happen to a Marshmallow 6.0.1 XXU2DPE5. You should find a Marshmallow as closest as of the ROM for your BL+Modem.
It wont work if you mix Lollipop x Marshmallow.
The only overhead you will have while flashing an entire Sammobile firmware is that it will overwrite your Custom Recovery so you will have to flash it too again using Odin before the ROM.
If you are able to find ONLY the Bootloader+Modem needed for your model/region it will be easier but it's not usually available.
Hope you have understood now.
Nice regards.
