No, I believe you need to install 4.4.4 before updating to 5.0 because the update section in the Settings app will not detect Android 5.0 before updating to 4.4.4. Hope this answers your question!

so to get android 4.4.4.(stable version) , is it necessary to first install android 4.4.2 (unstable, already with many bugs) ?
since my tab is always showing android 4.4.2 downloaded and ready to install , is there any way i get android 4.4.4 to install directly (without flashing a factory image with fast boot) ?
Thankyou

4.4.2 does not have many bugs. After installing 4.4.2, then you can install 4.4.4 and then finally install 5.0.

Just fast boot the Latest stock image from Google to your device. NO Need to install update over update... You can also Do Custom recovery and Flash one of the many roms for the device. Including The new 5.0 Rom ..
its best to do clean install and not piling update on top update

His goal is to do it without fastboot, that's why I gave him the OTA method.

[Q] update to i9505 kitkat 4.4

I'm new android user, and I want to know if there any news about the update for 4.4 kitkat (an official one),
or there is any google update for it (for the samsung i9505 regular version) that I can install and it is stable?

Lollipop Update is not showed ...

Hi,
I have a Nexus 7 ME370T (Wi-Fi Model). I'm currently on 4.4.4 but if I check for updates the message is "System is Updated". No 5.0/5.0.1/5.0.2. OS is original and was never rooted. How can I get OTA updates (don't want to flash from factory images).
Thanks in advance
Stefano
I would stick with Kitkat for the time being until Google works out all the issues
wait!!

The Android 5.0 update for the Nexus 7 had loads of performance issues. So they stopped rolling it out.
Based on what I hear from the forums, Kitkat > Lolipop for N7.

[Q] Nexus 7 5.0.2 OTA update error

Hi xda developers... i have a pretty strange issue which i couldn't find on any other threads.
When the first 5.0 ota update came i really wanted to do an OTA update... BUT because i had the tablet rooted i had to flash the whole system... I realized that 5.0 is not a useable OS so i flashed the system back at 4.4.4 jellybean.
So i waited till the 5.0.2 came and my notification bar told me that the system is ready for the update... I pressed reboot and install and when it was in the installing screen...it stoped at around 20% and then an error appeard.
So i cant install the ota update but i don't know what is the problem...i tried 2 times more and the same...
I have to say that my tablet is not rooted but it's unlocked if that makes a difference.
P.S: I also have the wifi model and the build number is : KTU84P.
p.p.s :Thanks for the attention
didn't look hard enough. look at my response in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3002555
Basically reflash the needed images to bring everything up to the correct baseband and build

Not receiving OTAs after downgrade?

Hey guys. I have the nexus 7 mobile and I recently downgraded to 4.4.4 from 5.0.2 (by manually flashing the original factory image from google). While I don't necessarily want to go back to 5.0.2 right now, I don't get any notifications for new system updates being available OTA. If a new android comes up for my device, how do I know it will appear as OTA? Or did I break this function by downgrading?
