3beta and Sony in the world unique collaboration

And before some of you lot throw sissy fit, today in Sonys Blog they expressed interest in offering similar oppurtunties in other markets...
Now’s probably a good a time as any to tell you about a new, exclusive initiative we’re running in Sweden with “3”… 3Beta – a pilot programme giving select Sony fans the chance to test drive Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact devices running early versions of our Android 5.0; Lollipop release.
The premise is pretty simple – gather as much early feedback as humanly possible in order to make the Sony User Experience on Android Lollipop as good as it possibly can be, before commercial rollout next year.
We’ll be monitoring interest, reaction and the success s of this project with a view to rolling out similar initiatives in other markets next year.

let's hope the testers persuade Sony to actually create decent Xperia icons for the L release instead of the fugly ones on the Z3c now (those dialer and messaging icons are awful)

Nouuuu, I have Telenor

this will be awesome. i really hope this is something we can do easily and SOON

Kinda silly its only for 3 users. I am in Sweden and I paid full unlocked price for my device and the contracted people are the ones who get the opportunity to beta test.

Has sony given up on the X1?

Its the little things that i've been noticing about the X1
Spelling Mistakes on Panel download page and xperia.com "Mytopia Panle"]
Nearly all the links are broken on http://www.sonyericsson.com/x1 (UK)
CNN and Mytopia panel still listed at "coming soon"
It used to be free to call X1 Support line in UK - now you have to pay 10p/min
Under new software available it still says the latest is 02-13-2009 (on the UK site yet the date is in American format)
Seeing none of the new things in R3A too was annoying
Have they compleatly given up on the X1 because its as if they are not even trying - i signed up the the Sony Ericsson news on the x1 site - did they email me about the R3A update? Noooo
I have to get everything and news from XDA!
Have they given up on it?
maybe they don't keep the uk site uptodate

All links are working for me(using the dutch page)
personally i think its the uk SE have given up on. All the other sites seem to be uptodate and they get the releases quicker too.

... they've probably dumped it in preparation for the X2.
The US site is months behind any other.
We don't have a R3 update.
We don't even have a CNN Panel download or "coming soon"
We have to buy the X1 outright because none of our carriers offer it.
X1a came out three months after the X1
I'm growing tired of SE.
I went through the same thing with the C902 that was rushed out with a lousy firmware. Had to change my CDA to a german code to update to a stable firmware.
I need to relocate!!!
i guess i made the right choice going to touch HD
How many more hints do we need that SE has moved on?
1) Updates are minimal and unannounced.
2) SE hasn't made any money. Revenue was "break even"
3) The CEO has already said that the X1 was a failure.
SE's minimal resources are probably being dedicated to the X2.

Me too, I am getting tired of my NAM firmware...sometimes I consider updating to the UK Rom, which I know is much better than NAM.
There is something about me though, I guess I am a nationalist. I'm losing hope for America though...I am tired of reading about europeans getting 5 brand new touch HD's for the family contract when in America we have to get a crappy "basic phone" with our family contract.
from myside, i returned to the r2a rom (uk). got pissed off by r3a. my keyboard became hard to press and other annoyances i got tired off, so i switched back to the old r2a, which did work well, at least for me. im thinking of losing this phone too. i am really in great dismay because i have been so excited getting this phone, only to find out that it sucks.

He doenst actually say that the x1 is a failure, just that it was "a kind of experiment" (direct quote there).... but I hope they dont withdraw their support as its a nice little phone... although I think I am due an upgrade soon so will probably change my phone to the latest new toy... uh I mean important and valuable tool for work (if the wife asks...!!!)
There were no words of "failure" there
so don't mess it up.

yes android is open, but it's just a vehicule for selling the google experience. google I'm sure is happy to let companies lock down their devices, and most carriers prefer not to have their clients running custom roms as it a. cuts down on customer service calls for issues not caused by them, and b. prevents people from doing things the carrier does not approve of like tethering for free and such. don't bank on google being on our side on this one
more than selling experience (they doesn't have as much as could have microsoft or Nokia), it is a matter to sell a culture, a way to do things... so yeap, i dont think google would be too happy with SE

X10 has multi-touch - proved

X10 has multi-touch.
just check out sony's web page:
"Sporting an expansive, 4" multi-touch screen, the X10 showcases your movies and photos in awe-inspiring fashion. Every pixel is crisp, with saturated colors and details that come alive in the palm of your hand. And with the added real estate, you'll spend more time enjoying and less time scrolling."

Allow me to play the devil's advocate here for a bit.
The info on the developer's site is what you as a developer can expect to work with. What if the multitouch bits aren't present in the current SDK because they haven't implemented it yet? Without conclusive information on the hardware we can't say anything for sure. It might be dual- or multi-touch capable and could be exposed in newer versions of the SDK.
It's very unlikely we'll get multitouch but quoting SE's page on the SDK really only tells you which APIs they let you play around with.
One day. That's all I ask for. One day without a new Multitouch topic.
Is that too hard to ask for?

They are talking about Timescape, not Mediascape.
Someone told that the mini have MT and have the same screen as X10... I don't remember when I read that.
timescape is great and fast on the x10 mini but bloated useless crap on the x10 maxi.
on the mini its nice to use as a notification tool, such as missing calls and sms and when you tap on the widget it loads instantly and scrolls smooth.
this is actually very interesting because if its listed on the site and it stays there and is confirmed not be a type then im pretty sure they will have to implemnt it or they will be an easy target for class action law suits

HTC One Android 4.2 Official Update Confirmed Once Again

Better true this time The wait has been too long.... Can't wait....
The HTC One Android 4.2 official update has once again been confirmed by the company without a specific release time frame being provided. Earlier this month we reported that HTC Russia had confirmed availability of Android 4.2.2 for HTC One in mid-June, but the update itself is yet to drop. Recently Three UK, one of the carrier partners across the pond that offers HTC’s latest flagship, recently replied to a customer’s query on Twitter revealing that HTC had “just pulled” the 4.2.2 release. This indicates that a June launch of this update was definitely on the cards, with Engadget reporting that HTC has confirmed to them that the update is indeed coming soon, but customers might have to wait a bit longer. HTC One ships with Android 4.1 pre-installed, whereas its main rival the Galaxy S4 ships with Android 4.2. Some features expected in the HTC One Android 4.2 official update have already been detailed, but the company itself hasn’t confirmed exactly what improvements this update will bring. Like everyone else, we’ll keep waiting patiently for this update, and will let you know as soon as it drops.... Read more at: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/06/htc-one-android-4-2-official-update/

Does it really matter? I mean, the M7 is already set up better than the S4 with its 4.2 config... I honestly don't think it needs anything at all in terms of added software features, just some finishing touches (and softkey related updates to everyone who is still waiting for it).

Yea, I suppose both of those are good things. Even though you can get to the wireless/wifi toggles one click from pull down menu... or one touch on a toggle bar from home screen. the home button menu could be good? not sure what other menus are needed...

The home Menu button are meant to remove and replace the 3 dot black bar.
Yes I want the black bar gone.
The pull down toggles

I don't have any of these issues... my home button brings up the apps drawer if I hit it in default screen, and brings up the search function if I hold it down... thanks to Nova launcher, which is free. It almost looks vanilla in my config except with black bars being transparent, and the app drawer half transparent, and nicer hand-picked icons with no text on homescreen
Just wish they release the goddamn kernel source. I swear someday I will leave my beloved HTC for the plastic, just for better developement, if this kind of delay persists.

people like you, all you do is want want want and nothing else. release the kernel source faster for better development? or for your selfish wants.
ever thought about others? them working for free just for your selfish needs.
why dont u do something good with the kernel source instead of throwing all the work to other people then leech on it like a damn parasite and moan when it's updated slower than other masterpieces
and then says stuff like "oh im gonna jump to plastic if my selfish need isnt fulfilled"

i think we deserve the kernel source asap don't you think? i payed premium price for this device running android (the most open source phone OS) so i could get all the benefits of open source policy
the fact that HTC always slacks on sources is gross

everybody pays a premium for gadgets. not just a phone alone.
and it's already performing currently, there's no need to rush things.
good things come to those who wait.
if everything u paid for deserves to be updated quickly because "it costs like a premium item" , then you're wrong.
it's like saying i paid a premium for my ac router, i deserve faster firmware updates to speed the damn thing up
and they have no obligations to comply with the open source license. only google does that.
nowadays with all the patent ****storms, nobody really cared about open source anymore. they want everything to themselves

hm yes i see your point but i don't see a reason why they delay things like kernel sources so long for.

HTC generally is pretty fast, sometimes a few weeks slower than samsung, sometimes a few weeks faster with updates. I installed the 4.2.2 update but immediately I noticed my bottom speaker started popping and the animation in the pull down menu was jittery and when opening the app drawer I first saw a grid of 4x2 icons before showing my 5x4 grid. These were just the bugs I noticed in the first minutes of installing. HTC were right in pulling that update. JB 4.2 itself doesn' t offer a lot either for phones. The one thing I really want from 4.2 is the fix for the msm_hsic_host suspend bug, but most people seem to be unaffected by this wakelock anyway.

With 4.2.2 on the ONE 2013 Flagship phone, everything AWESOME. As Samsung S4 come preloaded. Just that the smartphone battle has becoming more tough. At least HTC can speed up a little bit :fingers-crossed:
Most importantly for me is the 3 dot black menu bar remove and pull down notification wireless etc toggle menu.

My wife owns the s4 and trust me, I wish they would have taken more time working out the bugs. She's Constantly complaining about little things not working, and I'm always having to clear cache on apps, rebooting her phone and what not to fix it.
My htc one runs 100x more stable than her s4 despite being rooted rommed and s off

Yeah I got rid of the s4 for this. That phone was laggy as hell. And I had custom kernels and roms on it. This was faster then that off the bat. And even with cpu powersave on it is still faster haha.
