Android Authority Review - Awarded Editor's Choice 2014 - Xperia Z3 Compact General

Of course they gave it their Editor's Choice Award for 2014. Why wouldn't they?
Android Authority Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Review!

NICE!!!

Why "of course"? Does Sony own them?

Is Sony Mobile’s 2013 signature power button its new design hallmark?

The Sony Ericsson liquid energy logo was beloved by many. There were a number of people that would have loved to have seen the small green logo carry on being used by Sony, after it formed Sony Mobile. Whilst we saw it appear on last year’s H1 flagship, the ‘Sony’ branded Xperia S, it was removed from other phones that hit the market shortly after.
The question then becomes, what becomes the ‘signature’ of future Sony Xperia phones? Well, according to Wikipedia, the “Sony Mobile Signature Power Button replaces Sony Ericsson Liquid Energy Logo as easy to identify design hallmark.”
There’s no doubt that Sony plans to use this classy new power button in much of its 2013 range – after all it has already appeared on the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z. However, will we see in all future Xperia phones? This we disagree with. We believe that this new signature power button becomes a design hallmark for 2013, much like the NXT design graced the company’s H1 2012 smartphones such as the Xperia S, P and U.
There’s also no reason why Wikipedia has any real authority or inside track on this, after all, much of the content is user generated. Anyway, it got us thinking, does Sony Mobile need a new logo or design hallmark? Is the ‘Sony’ and ‘Xperia’ branding enough?

I love that power button.

No real point to this thread, maybe start posting in the off topic forum as you're just posting readily available information you've just picked up from other blogs etc.

We’re bringing Android 5.0; Lollipop to the entire Xperia Z Series Early 2015

You’ve probably seen Google unveil Android version 5.0; Lollipop…
Since the initial reveal of the Android “L” Developer Preview, we’ve seen lots of questions on our upgrade roadmap about our plans – so, here goes…
We’ll be making Sony Mobile’s Android “L” upgrade available for the entire premium Z series*: including Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition devices will be first up – we’ll be back with more details on that soon.
We’ll start the upgrade at beginning of 2015 for the core Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 series – continuing thereafter for all remaining devices above.
We’ve been working hard to bring this major update to as many of our Z Series devices as we can, as quickly as we can. We’re really excited about the new Sony features & functionality and the improvements we’ve made to the user experience – and we’ll be sharing more soon… so stay tuned to the blog and @SonyMobileNews for all the latest and greatest.
*Software rollouts are a phased process – timings & availability will vary by market/operator. Most models supported but some operator/market exceptions will apply

This is pretty good news!
Lollipop, Lollipop, oh lolli lolli lolli!
<3 that would the fastest i ever got an upgrade on android
Can't wait! Really curious about the ability to work with raw photos! The sensor in Z3 should be able to produce some stunning photos if treated right!
Really hoping they don't mess up lollipop to much.
Honestly, looking at how KitKat evolved (4.4, 4.4.1, 4.4.2, 4.4.3 then finally 4.4.4) I'd rather wait for some more time for Andoid 5 to stabilise instead of Sony (having to) deliver an instable system. I'm happy about how my Z3C works (for) now and don't want it go bad just because there's something new. It has to be better!

All hail Sony!
Awesome that we are still getting the update. :good:
The Z is one of the best supported devices by Sony. I was happy with this unbelievable phone for 18 month and just bought an Z3 as a support for Sony great work. Keep it up
If I'm happy? yes.
But too bad we gonna get it about a year after the official release, just like every Android update =\
Wow that is awesome sony is the best:good:

4.4.4 released the 19th of June. We got it the beginning of September, well ahead of many other OEM's devices. Less than 3 months to bring up, produce, test, certify and release. Great going by Sony.
They could promise to support this device for the next 5 years and some people would still be negative.

I'm actually shocked. Didn't expect another update whatsoever. Not that I'll probably make use of it due to my new upgrade in the new year but I'm happy that this phone is not being dropped

Beginning could be the first 3 months of next year and then you have to wait 2 or 3 months more , just like with 4.4.4.
So probably in half a year you will have Lollipop 5..0.
Anytime sooner will be better, leys just be happy we got 4.4.4 at all and that now the 5.0 is comming.

Maybe like KitKat. We receive 4.4 on May

How about UI?
Its really a great news indeed. Thankful to Sony for their continuous support to Z especially.
Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop is completely a new UI, well known as Material design. Sony and other OEMs will build their own Stock ROM and interface. Now my question is, which may be too early to ask but yet a thought came in.. Will they retain L's material design? or they going to continue with their UI.
Well time can answer, will wait and see!
