Battery life MUCH worse than Z2 - Xperia Z3 General

The Z3 is a nice device, I enjoy the screen, thinness and weight, but the latter two definitely come at the expense of battery life.
Of course the faster CPU also plays a part. I'm just getting 3 hours of on screen time with my usage out of it. On the Z2 I got 4 hours.
I don't even know what these people do who get an insane 10 hours of screen on time out of theirs. Probably different kind of use, but still...
Once again I need to look having an external battery with me.
Disappointed.

Post your battery stats page. Seems odd to me. I have 2.5 hours of on screen time with 10 hours on battery at 78% at the moment.

I noticed that too since I switch from Z2. Its difficult to see from the power management tool indicating how many screen time ect.. the battery life just don't seems to be better then z2, and results and very random.. sometimes better then z2, sometimes worst then z2. Perheps firmware upgrade will help..

I have rolled through 3 Z3s due to defects on my 4th, all had great battery life up to 8.5 hours SOT, lowest is about 5 hrs SOT, before calibration. Give it a few charging cycles, or do a full charge and full discharge then recharge and use. You should then be fine. If that does not work maybe you got some errant apps or lots of them continously syncing. Also go to backup and reset menu and disable data logging.

been averaging a day and a half with over 8 hrs SOT with mine. mix of wifi/lte

I don't know how you guys do it. I always get around 3 hours SOT, no matter what. I wish there was a way to check wakelocks without root.

I think it has something to do with the apps you use.
Facebook, facebook messenger, snapchat, swiftkey and Nova Launcher gave me from 4+ estimated days (in stamina mode) to 1 day and 1 hours.

If I don't play games, I get between 6 and 8 hours SOT at the moment.
Check that google play services aren't burning through battery.
Should never get 2 or 3 or even 4 hours SOT unless you're playing games.
I use screen brightness on about 80% as well.

I'll be posting my power usage screenshots soon.
Off to the top off my head, screen was about 50% of power (with automatic brightness, and the slider set on the 1st third), the most power hungry app took about 25%, with the rest taken up by various other processes and apps.
WiFi off.

Facebook used to be a battery killer, I don't use it, but check on that.

Z3 has an incredible battery life
there's something wrong in the op

For my baterry stay perfectly (often 20% for system 20% standby and 50% screen)

Even if it's Facebook that eats 25% of power that still wouldn't account for the overall bad battery life.

Nope mate, sorry - my battery life is out of this world. It's not the Z3, it's your device - get it tested, re-flashed or inspected if the problem persists.

Oh no I already removed, I do not have any battery issues, I was just giving a tip to OP.

Right, so here are my power usage screen shots.
I don't think these can be called ok in any kind of scenario.
I would like to add that with my Z2 I didn't ever get up to the 6 or 7 hours other people were getting out of it, but with my kind of use I got 4 to 4.5 hours, which is considerably more than I'm getting right now.
I supposed it's kinda obvious, with a faster CPU and a smaller battery. What else could have happened. It just annoys me that Sony tries to tell us that battery life is BETTER than on the Z2. It is not.

Well, reviews uphold/confirm Sony's claims so its probably not the phone itself per say. I get 7-8.5 Hrs SOT easily. Disable autosync when un-needed and location services as well. Then see.

Just as everyone suspected, it's malwarebook causing abysmal battery life. Remove it and watch your phone get tons more battery.
Considering that you're one of the very few, if not only, getting poor battery.....I have no idea what else it could be. The phone get's better battery because of using the 801 SOC instead of the 800, which sips battery like fine wine, leading to the increase in life over the z2.

Malware.... Yeah, whatevs.
Fact remains that with the same usage as before my Z3 performs worse than my Z2, so there.

[Q] I get about 4 hours of usage out of a full charge - how about you?

I have been on here a couple of times complaining about my lousy battery. Well, today I decided to see exactly how far I can take this thing before it conks out on me. Here are my results.
The phone up-time was just over 19 hours, with 14% battery left. (I took my results at 14% because I didn't want the phone turning off on me thus losing all data.) About 49% of the battery was used by the screen, which was on for a total of 3 hours and 20 minutes during this 19 hour period. The rest was split up among other activities, but the most notable/concerning area is 43 seconds of voice took up almost 2% of total battery usage.
I could probably pull out another half-hour or so usage before the phone's battery totally dies, so my final number is 4 hours of usage out of a full charge. This is total usage, i.e. the screen was on for 4 hours.
The phone was at lowest brightness all day except for 10-15 minutes where I had it on full 'cause I was using it outside. I am not using any CPU throttling apps, or such. Background is not fully black. I use one widget, rest are icons. I have Advanced Task Killer which I routinely use to kill tasks, but to be completely honest, unless there is a rouge task ATK does not increase battery life by much. Phone was on 3G primarily, although there were times during the day when I was on EDGE because of weak signal.
All in all, the battery on the Vibrant is pathetic for what it has (Super AMOLED, 45 nm, etc.) but I am glad I can at least last a day. Hopefully Samsung has addressed battery issues in Froyo.
Feel free to post your results on how long you can make your battery last below, so we can all get a better idea. Please do not post "my battery lasts XX days" - give details on your usage, like how I mentioned the battery was at 14% after 19 hours up-time, but actual usage was 3 hours and 20 minutes. Often times it seems like many people brag about how "great" their Vibrant's battery is, but really they rarely use the phone all day hence the "great" battery life.
I completely feel your pain. I had the same issues with my vibrant also. I personally do not believe it is the battery any more because after I applied the ryanza one click lag fix my battery life practically tripled. I kept a very close eye on my usage and settings for the first few weeks. I would get about 12 hours out of a full charge and I would barely use the phone. Frustrated me to no end because I would hear people say that 12 hours with a powerful phone like vibrant is expected. To me it was not acceptable.
I never changed any settings or installed any programs after doing the lag fix but it certainly had a drastic effect. Ill get more statistics when I get home, im at work right now.

Have to agree with this. I tried it out and got quite a boost. I didn't keep as good of details as the OP on my battery use but prior to juice defender a was struggling to make a day. Now a day is not a problem. My typical usage is probably pretty high, lots of internet, lots of tinkering right now plus working on morphs and things, I do keep my screen all the way down except when outside (rarely use my phone outdoors so not much of that), no widgets, no task killer. When I installed juice defender I used the stock settings with the exception of allowing gmail and chat to sync anytime. Juice defender says I'm getting an average of 1.7x the battery life. I think almost all of that comes from when the phone is asleep.
Edit. Checked on details.
Pulled my phone off the charger at 6 am it was at 100%. Used to to do some reading on my way to work (about 30min on the train) worked on some morphs, checked some emails, downloaded some stuff. I'm at 82% and it's 12:20.
Cell standby 39%
Display 33%
phone idle 23%
Various 5%
I use my phone for quite a bit during the day and pull about 13 hours before it starts blinking at me. I personally have zero problems with that amount of battery life from a device of such caliber. My best friend was complaining about her battery in her Vibrant and like I tell everyone else, it's probably some rogue app somewhere. She didn't believe me so we swapped batteries 3 days ago and I still get the same usage times out of her battery as I did mine and her battery life has improved significantly as well.
I don't know what is is that people are doing to get 4-5 hours but 13+ with average use (text, moderate browsing, syncing all day, screen at full brightness all day) is to be expected with this phone. I will post a screenshot of consistency over the course of this weekend to visualize my point.
Also I do not use a task killer of any kind except the Android built in one and I removed hers as well

You mean if you actually use the phone it will drain a lot faster. Your post is a perfect example of what I mean when I said people post very misleading results. For those ~40 hours that your Vibrant has been up, your display has only been on 1, maybe 2 hours (hence only 8% battery usage). Your result is not accurate at all - you aren't using the phone. Anyone can get great battery by letting it sits for hours on in.

Thanks I will look at Juice Defender, but I am not too sure what it will do to help improve my battery which I am not doing already. (I leave GPS off, WiFi off when im not using, have applied lagfix, etc.)
The Droid X is known to get 7-8 hours; and considering the Vibrant has power-friendly hardware, the Vibrant should be getting the same.

When you say 13+ hours, do you mean total up-time or total usage time? Because, as I mentioned in my post, my total up-time was ~19 hours, but usage was actually ~4.

Oh, and an FYI: I just called up T-Mobile and had them send me a new battery. FWIW, I am not being charged anything (not even shipping) and I don't have to send back my current battery. I love the retention department .
Can someone post up what they do/what settings they use for juice defender? I installed it but I really don't see how it could save me any more battery seeing that I keep wifi, gps, and all that off, plus my screen is on the lowest setting at all times
Hi all,
What I found out that works best for me is, no task killer, no juice defender, lowest display setting possible, and turning off 3g. 3g ready drains the battery. Task killers are pretty worthless. Do some research on that topic. Android kills programs all by itself. And task killers run in the background, using up battery. My phone is rooted, so I run autostarts to control what starts at boot. My uptime isn't great, but its adequate enough to last from morning to night. I do agee that the battery life when using the phone itself for voice calls is sub part at best. I do believe froyo will help with a lot of these problems. Just my 2ยข.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
DON'T use task killer. Vibrant has really good system resource management. With task killers constantly killing core system processes, the phone has to use more power to keep restarting them.
You can read more about it here: http://geekfor.me/faq/you-shouldnt-be-using-a-task-killer-with-android/
And only turn on active sync for apps that you absolutely need to have them syncing all the time.
This should make your phone last for a whole day with decent usage. If you are still getting very short up time, you probably have a bad battery. Call T-Mo and ask for a replacement.
It all depends on usage. The first days when I got my Vibrant, I was downloading apps all day, or browsing websites, so the battery barely lasts for a day. I usually leave my phone plugged in to my laptop when going to sleep, and set the laptop to auto-shutdown in 4 hour, so the phone gets unplugged at about 4:30 am. With that heavy usage, I needed to recharge at about 7 pm.
However, now that I'm not playing with it that much, the battery life improves greatly. Now I usually do 10-20 text messages and about 30 minutes voice call everyday, also some browsing on the xda forum, and maybe reply several emails. The battery is usually at 40 percent at 10 pm. The only thing I can complain about is that with 40% battery left, I don't want to do a complete recharge, but it won't last the second day either.

Atrix Battery Life

I have been letting a couple of days go by to see how the battery is and I have got to say that I am highly not impressed. I love the phone and even like Blur but the battery is really a let down. I know that the first day or so that I use the phone heavily because of course.. ITS NEW. But today I have been real busy at work and have maybe text a few people, made 2 calls, and looked up a number using google maps and my battery is now down to 60%. In battery manager, it says 5h 2m 25s since unplugged which would be me taking the phone off the charger this morning and heading to work. Other stats are:
Display 35% 29m 52s
Phone Idle 26% 4h 32m 47s
Voice Calls 24% 6m 45s
Cell Standby 11% 5h 4m 5s
Wi-Fi 6% 1h 51m 56s
From looking at these battery stats and usage, does it even seem correct to be at 60% battery? This is at the least very minimal usage for a phone.
Yet another battery thread... One thing before people start complaining: don't estimate battery life based on battery gauge! Complain once the battery is dead and you HAVE to charge. That's the real mileage you'll get from your battery (and give it a few days to calibrate). The gauge is not a good indicator.
I am a new Atrix user too and so far the battery life is 12hrs or less. Maybe that is not impressive. Coming from the N1, its alright in my book.
I do want to say to everyone complaining about the battery life:
It can take a week or more for the battery to settle into the routine and perform to its maximum ability. Lets start the conversation again later next week on where our battery is at.
Yesterday I got 13 hrs between unplugging the phone, and getting the 15% warning. Not all that bad. Not great, but definitely could be worse.
mine has yet to drop below 30% and im pretty much browsing the web and texting all day. I dont care what kind of phone you have but making voice calls and playing games/watching videos kills battery with a quickness no matter how big a battery you have. . The atrix in my personal usage is just as good as my ip4 was.
the atrix was very good on battery life compare to other android phones i've had
Have the Atrix and Epic 4G and the Atrix lasts easily twice as long as the Epic.
I have to keep he Epic pluged in for my hour comute with pandora, just to make sure I have enough battery to make it for the trip home. Normal usage during the day with brightness all the way down, wifi off, BT off, sync On.
Had the Atrix today (day one after full night charge, unpluged at 6:30a), kept BT On, WiFi On, Brightness 100%, Sync On, Exchange Sync On, Auto off/standby set to 15 minutes, Pandora on via BT for my hour trip (unpluged), forest Live Background, Weather Widget etc.,downloaded everyting I could think of/find, constant e-mail, and constant "whatsApp" till noon (lunch), wache YouTube Videos for my whole hour lunch (still full bright mind you). Created 10 minute Install Video with 720p for work, then uploaded via WiFi, not USB. More Texing, Calls and Downloads. .... FINALLY haed to plug it in at 2:30p, with 5% battery left, I think I could have made it till 3 for sure.
That's a full 8 hours of NonStop Use of everything. I expect to get Morning-Night life from normal usage.
Final word. Test it first. I did and it's Great, not just good. The receiving end of all my texts and e-mail blasting and video look ups has an iPhone. He had to charge his at 2:30 too, but has his iPhone set to max battery save (brightness 15%, wifi off, sync off, etc.) But was using as intensly as I was
... okay I'm done ...

may be you have several internet connected background service running behind the scene?
My attitude towards the battery is a mixed bag.
1) PRO: It blows away the battery for the Eris (which I'm coming from)
2) CON: As these phones come to be computers with phone capability, it's really time for manufacturers to try their hardest for better batteries. I'd eagerly accept a phone twice as thick as this one if it meant double the battery life.
I find mine is only good for 10 hours (much less with heavy usage, but low calling time). I expected more.

I really call bull on this.
Coming from the world of Airsoft, I'm no stranger to battery performance.
Most of these performance myths are hold overs from the Ni-Cad days and don't apply to modern batteries.
Call Bull all you want. But it was true to the N1 and so far its been true to my battery. It does not last the first few days and gets better after a few charge cycles.
Frankly, everyone believes whatever they want on batteries. I for one take it as a user by user experience. I watch my battery life a lot, but I also like to have Google Reader and Google Listen syncing.
I'm at 30% right now and 12 hours unplugged. What I wouldcall moderate use. Its not as good as my captivate on custom rom / kernel but its far from bad enough.for me to complain about

Andriod sucks the battery, bigger battery on Atrix didn't help much. Google need to optimize the OS for better battery management. I am disappointed coming from Samsung Focus & iPhone 4, both have superior battery life. BTW, I am on Day#4, conditioning the battery didn't help any so far..
Within Range
Looking at all the comments - I would say the Atrix is within range -- I knew when I saw the 1950 mAh (or whatever the exact spec) that the tegra processor must really be a power hog -- the new processor, along with the huge screen is going to draw a lot of power. Comparing to other phones with single core processors and screens even 20% smaller is not reasonable.
Definitely a good point... going to be interesting to see how well other dual core are going to hold up. That will be a better comparison.
Is that battery really a 1930mAH? The size looks like any 1500mAH battery isn't it?
I managed to get close to 16 hours of 'normal' use, meaning I wasn't trying to drain it, nor was I trying to conserve battery. I took the phone off the charger at 3pm and made it all the way to 2pm the following day with about 20% left. That's 23 hours, but I subtracted out the time the phone was on while I was asleep, 8 hours (nighttime mode).
Hmm hearing all these replies i believe i have a defective battery. I unplugged mine today at 5:15AM and now it's 2:18PM and it's just gave me the 15% beep. I've sent about 25 texts and played some words with friends. I've got watchdog installed and no apps seem to be out of control. I'm wondering if a factory reset would fix the issue or if i should return it.

Look under the battery usage and check the different items. Is anything using a significant amount? it could be a rogue app.
I will say MotoBlur has a lot running in the background. About twice as much as vanilla android.
I have turned most of this off and I do know that is helping my battery life.

Battery life thread

No real life review thread on this one yet, so let's get the ball rolling on this. Any Telstra customers with their device have anything to say on this?
I haven't felt the need to charge mine yet. Because I don't have one.
And no one still share his battery life...
Can you share with us guys? Like guys with Pixel XL did
So, i'm gonna give it a go.
I am really satisfied with the battery life after three days of being a daily driver.
After my day of work it has 31% left with google assistant/now, 70% WiFi 30% LTE, Bluetooth always on, auto adjust brightness 3.56 hours display time, most of the time i used chrome.
No pics because i don't know to add them via mobile browser.
For now: much better than my old nex5 and OnePlusX.
I like!
I just got mine today and fully charged it and then synced my n5x, rebooted and it was down to 90%. Highly intensive processing so I'll not judge by that. Did some more setup, charged again. Phone call for about 30 min, down to 95%. Not bad but not great. It's way too early for me to make a determination as some here have been running it for 3 days with better results.
I'll either update this post or make a new one depending on traffic. Overnight will tell me a lot. I've been getting about 0.5% - 0.8% / hour drain overnight on my 5x so let's see how this one does. One thing I will say is that the phone is beautiful, great size, great feel. great display and quick as a bug. If the battery holds up it's a definite keeper for sure. If any of you have an iPhone 6 or 6s, put them side by side and I dare you to tell them apart. lol.
There is another thread on this but my battery is abysmsl
Google Play services battery drain. No unusual apps, pretty much out of the box because its getting replaced already due to screen issues. Not sure why...
I have really high android OS usage, but still get great battery life. 4 hours SOT, 16 hours usage. Will be interesting to see what i can get when I find the cause of this Android OS drain
Phone calls kill me but otherwise not looking too bad.

The phone lasts me the entire day, but by the end of the day its pretty close to dying out.
So not as good as my S7 Edge, or even close, however it's good enough.
I charge my phone every night, anyways, so doesn't really bother me.
I was less than impressed to be honest. I'll know more when I actually spend a few days with it out and in use.
I must not use my phone all that much. So far, extremely better battery than my iPhone 5s. I guess it is a doubling in mAh but also a bigger screen. I am happy with it so far.
Definitely doesn't charge to 70% in 15 minutes though like they bragged about.

Well they said "7 hours of use" from 15 minutes of charging, whatever the hell that means lol.
Coming from a Galaxy S6 Edge I am very happy with my battery life. Currently I'm at 1 day 5 hrs with 2 hrs 5 min phone calls and 1 hr 47 min of screentime with about an hour of music in there....right now I have 28% left. I typically use my phone for browsing the web, chatting, work email and facebook so all in all I'm very pleased.

They never said that. They said 7 hours of use in 15 minutes.
I'm actually pretty happy with it so far. I have the regular Pixel and in my few full days of normal usage I'm getting through the day pretty easily. 8AM - 11PM or so leaves me with about 10% left on the phone, and usually approx 4.5 hours of screen on time. This is especially impressive to me since this is with GPS ON, Bluetooth ON, mostly on LTE with only "ok" reception in my office, auto-brightness set half way, everything syncing, connected to my gear fit 2. That's definitely better than I got on the 5x and way better than I was getting on my last phone - the galaxy s7. I was getting maybe at most 3.5 hours screen on time with the S7, and that was with GPS OFF, brightness set to around 30% or as low as I could set it and still see clearly, and even with a ROM that included battery optimizations (and yes it did seem to provide slightly more battery than stock).
So this is great thus far. If I were going out late or something after work then I would probably top it up, but otherwise this is the first time in awhile I haven't felt the compulsion to constantly plug in my phone when I get a chance for fear it will die on me. I also hope that this will only improve as development picks up and people release optimized ROMs/Kernels.
Can someone with good battery life compare this to what they get?

They did actually at their reveal, I watched
"which Google said can deliver up to 70 percent in after 15 minutes on a charger."

Overall I'm really satisfied with the battery. after a night and day of heavy use, games, browsing, installing apps I'm still at 20%. Hardly any power drained in standby.
Decent
Battery has been pretty good for me so far. Seems to be settling in with optimization after a few days. Dropped 0% overnight last night which is awesome.
GSAM Monitor is saying my average is 19 hrs on, 4.5 hours of screen on time usage, 1-2 hours of screen off usage like phone calls, music.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Battery life on this phone is amazing.
Since it has the same 2700mAh battery as its bigger brother, it can easily last 2 days of average usage.
I'm currently typing this at 7pm, and my phone is at 71% battery, while I've been up since 8:30am
Checked the battery monitor on hidden menu and it states 2800mah (my currently battery % is 80)
how much you guys have?

2820mAh according to the service menu battery test, not bad.
Are you guys using Stamina mode? I am new to the Xperia phones and the XZ1 Compact is a first for me. I came to it from a Google Pixel because I wanted a smaller phone for better one-handed use and better battery life. So far, I'm not seeing much increase over the Pixel with my usual usage. I have only had it for a few days and have been ending the day around 30-35%. Phone idle and Google Play Services seem to utilize the most battery and my typical screen time in a day is around 1:45-2:00 hours.
I set stamina to kick in at 15%
I haven't reached that point yet, right now I have 25% remaining and already have 6.5 h of sot. I didn't do anything too demanding, but half the day the signal was rather bad, so in the end I gotta say this thing is a beast.
Not using stamina. Didnt like the lag on screen when stamina was on. on android is pretty good now with disabling apps on background...
i usually have 5 hours screen...

Modern Stamina is completely different from the original Stamina, which was awesome. Back in the golden days, it was actually able to effectively extended battery life without sacrificing overall performance.
With the introduction of Marshmallow however, Stamina essentially "broke" - there were overlapping conflicts with MM's new Doze feature, which in theory aimed to conserve battery in ways similar to Stamina but in reality didn't quite live up to its promise.
Since Doze is baked in to the OS and pretty much here to stay, Sony decided to kill off Stamina with the first few MM firmware releases.
It was eventually resurrected, but it has never been the same again. You can say that only the name lived on, under the hood it's two entirely different things.
Now that history lesson is over, back to your question. Stamina on the XZ1 Compact is just a combination of trivial battery saving tricks that may or may not actually save a significant amount of battery life.
The description in Stamina mode details the biggest battery eating features that Stamina disables, if you don't actively use any of them during normal use, it's likely that Stamina won't be of much help in conserving battery for you.
You'll probably save more battery by dimming your screen or disabling ambient light sensor.
Ultra Stamina basically turns your smartphone into a dumbphone to squeeze as much life as possible out of the remaining battery. Unless you're away from a charger for a long time and you absolutely need to make a phone call or text or whatever before you can plug it in, don't use this mode, it's horrid.
Thanks for the brief history lesson! I did notice Stamina mode left some to be desired with scrolling, primarily. After messing around with some settings and putting the screen to a dimmer level, I seem to be getting better battery life. Perhaps it has to do with a new phone and the software and battery need to "learn" each other? As it is, the XZ1C is already longer lived than my Pixel, which typically needed to be plugged in at least once to make it through the day. Honestly, I'd take a thicker phone with larger battery. A wafer-thin phone with the latest tech is useless if the battery is dead.
I use stamina the whole time. I've found the bottom stamina preset is the best for scrolling. It's barely noticeable over non-stamina. Also, I've disabled background data and set location to GPS only. I get about 8-9hrs of SOT.
This phone is a bit unpredictable. I was pleasantly surprised by the improved battery life earlier in the week, and now it barely lasts through my usual 16 hour day before getting into the red. This past Saturday and Sunday, I had about 4 hours screen time and the phone made it through my day with 43% left in the battery. Monday I got about 3 hours screen time and finished with just over 20%, and yesterday I wrapped up with 7% and only used it for 1:45 screen time. I haven't done anything differently or installed any new apps. The reception is a little worse at my office is than at the school where I teach part-time, but I don't think that should make a 30% difference in battery life. I still get full bars WiFi and 2-3 bars LTE, where at the school LTE is usually 4-5 bars. Funny thing is, I about double my screen time at the teaching job since students don't always need me so I'm browsing on my phone. At my office, I'm usually busy and don't touch the phone much at all, but these past two days I'm practically watching the percentage drop. Today, I'm off the plug for about 2.5 hours and already down to 86% with 5 minutes screen-on time.
I'm thinking there must be some background app or process running that is killing the battery, but the app usage shows "phone idle" as the highest power drain, followed by Google Play Services. I often like to keep the more "core" apps running in the background so they can pull updates, notifications, etc. so I don't have to constantly be pushing the phone to do them manually.

I agree but still dont use this... scrolling with stamina is not that smooth like with stamin off.

Maybe I should try stamina off with background sync disabled. The scrolling is smooth, but it feels like the display refresh is only 30fps, which still bothers my eyes.
Just surfing reddit and listen to Spotify. Wifi and bt 100% on.
Wow. 2 days of standby and 10 hours of screen usage?? How did you manage that? I'm happy with just one full day when I don't have to plug in. I've already turned off most location services and updates, leaving just essentials like e-mail and weather still on. I also used to have a live wallpaper, which has now been changed to a static photo.
I have uninstalled all Google apps besides: Gmail, Calendar and Keep.
I have uninstalled all the bloat experia apps including swift key. (see thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz1-compact/help/managed-to-hide-whats-app-root-t3681393)
I use a black wallpaper and also night-mode in chromium swe browser.
I have turned off 4G/LTE since it sux in Sweden. Use only 2G/3G+Wifi.
I use dns66 for Adblock.
I have no audio/video enhancements on.
I have set auto brightness to off (low light auto brightness sux on xz1c)
I use Pebble 2SE which uses BTLE (LowEnergy)
Perhaps a bit off topic, however I would like to know how is the auto brightness feature on this phone.
I have a soon-to-be-dead Z3 compact and I used Lux auto brightness on it since the stock one basically didn't do anything.

The auto brightness on this phone works well, even too well. Sometimes in certain environment, a little tilt on the phone will cause the brightness to adjust immediately. I would say it is the most sensitive auto brightness in all phones I've used this far.
Almost 3 days with 7+ hours of screen on time
Guys this phone battery is amazing! I use my smartphone for public relations so i always use whatsapp, instagram etc... I wake up around 8-9 and don't have any problems the whole day.. gps on everywhere, google apps on, data on all time, use some spotify too and don't remember what else. I wouldn't change it for anything and would suggest you to buy it. Gj SONY.

I'm a bit disappointed with the SoT figures I'm getting. I would've expected 5 hours a day with at least 25% battery life left. However I'm roughly getting 4 hours by the time the phone hits Stamina mode.

You should be definitely be getting more.
I usually get 6.5 to 8 hours SOT on my Xperia 1 II. So you should be definitely be getting more than that
This is very strange. I am getting 8-9 hours of screen on time within 1-2 day usage. Try to disable everything you don't use (all the Google data collection and other ****) and see if it helps.

Same.
My Poco F1 with LCD and bigger screen has a better screen on time.
Something is fishy here, I'm using DarkMode and a low background light.
Which Software you guys are using? Mine firmware is: 58.0.A.10.21
I think it has todo with the Vodafone branded software.
58.0.A.12.23
So it is not an old Firmware issues. There must be something hardware related issues.
Does your phone also get warm while using it?
When I browse through Google News (WiFi) it gets noticeable warm.
I am happy with my battery life - fully loaded 2 days ago, now at 28% after 6h30m Screen on time.
Mine get 7.5 hours. Pretty satisfy with this phone.
I'm getting about 6 hours sot from 90% to about 19%. Not as good as I expected.
Edit: above usage with 120hz setting. For mine, the SOT fluctuates. On one of the days, the SOT was only 4hrs. Trying to find out what's taking up the usage.
It would be helpful if you write if you use 60 or 120 hz.
Battery life on 5 II is very good, SOT, 7-8h, aprox.30+hour.. 120Hz

Wow, that's a big difference. Really got to find out what's using the battery on mine.
Is now at, 46%, 28hrs, 5h8min. 120Hz. Not bad sony, not bad.
Moderate use (some calls, wifi/3g, browsing, yt, etc.)
Some SS

thats crazy screen time, how does your google play services say only used for 25mins?? for me today google play services has been used for 7hrs25mins so far and its only mid afternoon i have no idea why its always on...even though google play services only uses up around 4% battery each day for me it always says used for around 10hrs each day, any tips on how i can get mine down to a respectable 25mins like yours?
Sony phones has some miraclemagic in their batteries, very good results indeed. I tested last two cycles, first with 120hz and another one with 60hz.
120hz: 100-1%, 9h 30min SOT during 41h time period.
60hz: 100-1%< 11h 36min SOT during 48h time period.
Mostly on wifi at home, lot of videos, social media and web surfing.
Power consumption at idle state is the best. I have had 4 mornings in a row with the same battery percent that was last night. 0% consumption during night. Gotta love it.
Very good battery life, with 120Hz enabled.
Do you guys actually use the "Battery saving mode" function? You know that charging the battery to 100% and discharging to 1% slowly kills the battery lifespan? That's why Sony developed this technology, so why not use it? I have set mine to 80% and charge my phone every day so my battery never goes over 80% or below 20%...
