How do I drain the battery without it showing on the battery menu? - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

I know what this sounds like up front, but I assure you it's not fraudulent.
Basically, I'm on my second Turbo and this second one is getting absolutely atrocious battery life after about 2 days in my possion. 1.5 hours in and I'm at 86% already. So I'm trying to fully discharge the battery and recharge it in, because Verizon wants me to hang onto it for another day or two while their new stock ships in. No biggie. The only thing is, I want to discharge, recharge, and do that all over again to see if maybe the phone needs a bit more wear in the battery.
However, the tricky part is now I don't know when Verizon will call me to come in to a new one, and should it be at a bad time, I won't be able to charge my phone up to reset the battery stats. So I wanna see how I can manage this without making it look like I'm defrauding Verizon with a functional phone, although it has cosmetic defects but whatever.
Anyway again let me reiterate, my store has already acknowledged my battery issue and are going to replace it, this is just for my own experiments.

Who cares if it shows in the menu. Just factory reset when you're ready to bring it back.

I actually forgot about the factory reset. I just don't want them to go backwards on their promise when I get there whenever it is. Thanks though.

They already agreed to do it, just factory reset when you get to the store and tell them you didn't want anyone to have access to your data. If you're worried they won't believe you bring your tinfoil hat along

Solid amber then nothing

Any help here appreciAted all the sudden my shift won't charge I plug it in and get a solid amber light for 5 seconds then nothing. Tried various chargers Anne removing as still nothing.
try a battery pull and try again
Tried removing battery SDcard still solid then off
Check the charger port. If you keep your phone in your pocket like I do, you get lint build up. I've already had to clean mine out twice. I used compressed air, and was very careful.
Tried charger port looks clean used air did try to turn it on while amber light was solid iT began to then shut off
try a different mini usb cord, see if that works. It could be a bad cord...
Also tried different cord combinations USB>AC USB>Pc etc to have same result plug in a few seconds Later I get solid amber for about 5 seconds then it goes off. Have to unplug and remove battery and replugin to get it to recognize anything again.
Can you clear battery stats? Long shot, but you never know...

All I can do is try a power on during that 5 seconds. Which initiates a power up but it still shuts off as soon as either the white HTC screen starts or if I try recovery as soon as the Boofloader screen where it gives you boot options and shows sff that screen don't know correct name for it. Either way all I get is a quick flash of either screen when it attempts to boot then shuts off.
This is a longshot too try plugging it in and leave it for a couple hours or if somebody you know has a hero or og evo charge your batt in it for a hour or 2 then see if it is your battery or the phone. I remember reading somewhere if you completely kill those li-lon batteries it messes them up and possibly the phone too. You didn't run it completely down did you?
Edit: you may have to flip the hero or evo's battery over to make the contgacts match up,not to worry it'll work cuz I'm running my heroi 1700mha battery in my shift now.

Themikmik.com has a thread on battery calibration, one of the options is to pull the battery during bootup. This clears the battery stats folder.
Ought to see if your local sprint store has a battery you can test b4 you buy, may be that simple. I would avoid the full service stores, maybe a mall kiosk?

+1 You might want to try a different Battery. These batteries do not like being run all the way down to nothing. Had an issue once where I thought it was a rogue app running the battery down really quick. It wasn't, I had let the battery drain down to nothing one to many times. Fresh battery cured the issue. Actually got it from Sprint for free. Walked in said my battery was no good and they gave me a new one, no questions .
HERE is the thread on the MikMIk for Battery Calibration.
Issue resolved after 3 hrs at retail seems battery boost is all it. Needed so far although CSR tried to blame it on water damage. Saying litmus near USB port was pink which they refuses to show me when I asked to see It knowing that it's never been near moisture other then the humidity in the air. Let's hope this does it.

Water damage is their fallback answer everytime.. I've dealt with the same thing from Sprint. It's a bunch of bs.

Glad you got it sorted out. That BS about water damage is just that, BS. Been told that a bunch of times. Actually showed them it was BS. They opened one of thier own unused phones, and the damm indicator was red. Never been opened and red. Oh yea, sure it's a good indicator

Thanks for finding that link prboy, I didn't have time to hunt it down earlier.
Anyone mind tellin me what a battery boost is? New to me.
Also, according to HTC, we should be completely killing the battery once a month as maintenence. Has this proven detrimental to the life of the cell?
Sent from my Shifty Speed Brick using xda premium
No proplem, help when I can. No idea what a battery boost is . But as for killing the battery once a month. Well that's a whole different can of worms . There are different schools of thought on that. Some say it's really bad, because it kills the cells. Others say it's necessary to kill it in order to retrain it. Just Google it, but be prepared to read through a lot of info. Personaly ( IMO not that it means a damm thing ) I don't believe in the whole drain it dead phiosophy. But that's just my opinion
I used to manage batteries plus... Lithium ion batteries are the best because there arent memory gimmicks... It is not a bad thing to drain it down to 1 - 2 percent. I personally dont drain down all the way because I had an odd experience with my phone not being able to turn on (no recovery, nothing!) for about 2 hours... I thought it bricked somehow, so I let it alone for an hour on the charger and it magically (thankfully) turned on when I tried... It freaked me out so I never let my phone's battery die...
It is always a good idea to cycle the battery but the most imporatant thing to do with any cell phone battery is to charge it uninterrupted for 24 hours before using it...

Poor battery no matter which rom

I've been using several different 7.1.2 roms and battery life has been atrocious. I use wingoku 4.1.
I pair my smart watch to it but even when I use wifi (no bt) its bad, draining quickly, last checked about 22% per hr. Even with screen off listening to podcasts it still will drop a lot more than it used to.
I really don't have much in terms of stats. Honestly I don't obsess much about it normally but now its noticable.
Aside from suggesting another rom & kernel, would I benefit from formatting data and starting over?

Install accubattery and run it though a few charge cycles, it will be able to tell you the life left in your battery, it's possible that you have the same issue many of us have had with a degradation of the battery.

Yea. Thats my biggest fear. Ive replaced small parts before but my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be so Im afraid I might mess it up. Plus I'll need to buy a heat gun.
I'll be more than a little pissed if the battery's shot. This phone is barely 14 months old. Either give us a decent battery or make it replaceable.
Thanks for the info btw. I just installed the app.
Update--Im switching things up a bit. Recently I made some changes and this time I flashed a new rom without some of those changes.
1. I had switched from Action 3 to Nova
*HIGHLY doubt nova is eating up my battery so Im still using it BUT I did remove a widget that has weather. Since I keep phone on device only location, I think theres a chance its always trying to find my locale and consuming battery.
2. I didn't add a gov profile yet.
3. This is the first time in about 4 or 5 rom flashes I didnt flash CTT Mod.
* Again I doubt this is causing battery issues but Im gonna hold off flashing it. No throttling thus far.
As suggested Ill be monitoring with accubattery for a few cycles. But been using my phone about 90 mins this morning (at least 90% of that time actively using with screen on) and I've lost 13%--a huge improvement from yesterday.

Accubattery for the proof. New battery for the fix. You could always buy online and have it installed locally. Read up on where to score a good replacement battery, rather than another dud.

Best to let it run below 20% at least and then fully charge until the APP tells you the battery is full- not your phone. Don't unplug until Accubattery says it is full. What you will observe is that the phone will continue to charge for 45 minutes to an hour past when the phone itself is reporting 100%. You will find the estimated capacity under the Health tab. Once or twice below 20% is enough to get a close approximation. After that it will move a couple percent max. You will know soon enough.

Well it turns out my battery is in need of replacing.
I let it run down like you said. I was going to go further down but once it hit 20% my phone turned off. I plugged it in, opened accubattery and it said 46% under health.
But I just checked again after charging to 100% and it now says 63% (2182 mAh total capacity).
I checked my imei on the Huawei site and my phone is 3 days out of warranty. Im hoping to get them to fix it.

Well sorry to hear that. Good luck to you on the RMA route. If not, the Cameron Sino brand replacement is a bit more expensive but includes a working battery temperature sensor. It will make your phone like new. Note in the thread I referenced above, some parts may get scratched/cracked depending on the skill of the repair person. They aren't expensive so it you are intending to keep the 6P for a while longer, it may be worth it to buy those just in case.

Thanks for the support! I checked that thread and didn't see specific parts (inexpensive ones you referenced) If they're listed Ill look again. It doesn't seem too daunting. I was able to replace the screen on my son's WiU controller. Those were very tiny parts and YES--I did snap off a clip, however I was able to fudge it and it's still working about a year later.
Far as RMA, does anyone know if they replace it with the same crappy stock battery? From my perspective this seems like a clear case where a recall is in order.
But if its the same battery, Im just setting myself up for the same problems 8 to 12 months from now. Even if I buy a new phone Id still want to sell this one and thats not as easy with a crap battery. Plus theyd have my phone for x days so Id need to find a temp phone in the meantime.
Don't mean to jabber on...this sucks.
Oh yeah...cuz it was after hours I sent an email to support last night. Do you think Ill get a response? Or should I just call when I have time to be on hold?
Spoke to a clone at Huawei then asked to speak to the clone's supervisor (wasn't sure if clones had supervisors--they do. But the programming is identical.) Long frustrating phone call and they aren't going to replace my battery because its out of warranty...by 4 f#@&ing days!
I told them they lost a customer for life and I was being 100% sincere. How could I ever buy from people who thinks it ok to sell defective crap, know about it, then do nothing to make things right?
I'm gonna replace the battery on my own. Whether things go good or terrible, one thing is certain--itll be the last time I ever replace anything on any product made by Huawei.

Battery Calibration

I've noticed that my phone now dies at 15-14% and when I turn it back on it turns it's self back off again as if the battery is completely dead, when I tried to boot into TWRP I found that it's reading the battery at 2% but I'm not sure if that's accurate or not.
Question is would a battery re-calibration fix this problem? If not what should I do?
Regarding the battery re-calibration what tool/method is best?
Well all this stuff about battery calibration is placebo and you will find that on many places. This is problem with Nexus 6P users. Even I'm also having same issue, shutting down exactly at 5%, I did try battery calibration tool but nothing worked. All these tools do is removing batterystats.bin ( or something similar) from the system and then say that battery is calibrated. This is just bull#*@$. You need to replace you battery and that also from the OEM, because in the market there are many fake available that don't work 100% with the device especially the temperature sensor, which is must required in case of quick charge.
You can also join here on telegram for any other help or troubleshooting on Nexus 6P.

If you purchased your phone from Google, you can try and get a replacement. I am having same battery issues. Even though my warranty ran out in 12/16, I figured I would try Google and see what they offer. Good thing I did, I am getting a free replacement.
What did you ask them?

I used Google Play website to ask for a call back about my issue. When they called I explained that my phone was not holding a charge, that once it got under 50% the phone would just drain and shut off. The tech on the phone said he was going to speak to a supervisor and would call back. About two hours after that, he called back and said even though my phone was > 6 months out of warranty, they were going to replace it free (Warranty ran out in December 2016, I called in August 2017.)

help with lineage os battery

I have a nexus 6p. Clean wiped and clean flashed lineage latest nightly. Everything is fine but battery, I did have to download the vendor image for build number n2g48c n flash with twrp but no big deal.
My issue is within the the battery. Every time my phone hits 15% it literally half a second later hits 0 and dies...I've let it run dead in recovery and everything and this keeps persisting. How do I fix this and what should I do, please all help is appreciated.
Simple.
Recalibrate battery. That probably would have happened even if you had some other rom. It's because the phone thinks the battery charge is greater than what it physically is. Just get one of the battery calibration apps charging to 100% wait for the notification sound, then unplug. I've had to do this twice in the last year or so but your phone will be operating all normal afterwards. It happens just from charging and discharging without turning off for a long time the battery has a value and your phone has a value should be at they don't always show the same that's why. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
PS. Still is probably going to be yelling at you for not posting this in the correct forum 'Questions'

You may also want to run Accubattery to test your battery health. I run LOS on another Nexus device and haven't ever had a problem with early shutdown. Second, I guess our AT&T plans are different, because I use the hotspot all the time on AT&T and have never had a problem with any stock Google ROM. This is on N6, N6P, N7, N9. You may want to look at your plan details and find out why you can't use the hotspot. It may be as simple as changing or reprovisioning your SIM, then again it may be your plan excludes it?
Edit: You may also want to try using a kernel with LOS. I've had real good luck with the EX Kernel/LOS combination.

My plan excludes it, because I have the unlimited gophone plan. So they removed hotspot for some odd reason. But as far as battery goes I'll give it a shot see if it helps. I appreciate it!
Last week I hit about 20% an phone instantly shuts off and wouldn't turn on saying low batt. I charged for a few minutes and attempted to power on which it did. I went to battery usage and saw the device slowly declined over the whole day till 20% then immediately flat lined at 0%. Almost like it thought there was plenty of capacity left but in reality was completely exhausted.

Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Shutdown,Battery Drain after Nougat update!

My phone is shutting down frequently and battery drain is so high.

Still not as reliable as original on Marshmallow.

Hello everyone, here is what I've done thus far. . .
Factory reset the phone and allowed all items to sync back over from Gmail
Factory reset the phone and DID not sync back over from Gmail
Ran phone in safe mode
Allowed battery to fully drain, then fully recharged using an OEM charger (battery lasted about 26 hours with very minimal usage)
Fully disassembled and reassembled the phone
Contacted Motorola Support (if phone is out-of-warranty, it'll cost you $100 or $125 for a USED REPLACEMENT of an ALREADY OLD PHONE)
Contacted Verizon Support (waste of time -- they just want you to upgrade of course!)
Cleared cached partition in Recovery mode
Attempted rolling back to Android 6.0 (FYI: you can't -- Bootloader is locked -- don't waste your time like me lol)
At this point, at least in my situation, I feel like the problem has something to do with the Battery and some type of "check" that is done when applications are opened. After I fully disassembled and reassembled my phone, I did not have the random reboot issue whatsoever.. UNTIL.. I used a non-OEM charger. After that, I had about 2-3 of the random shut downs that required the phone be plugged into a charger to start back up. At this moment, the phone hasn't had the random reboots since removing it from a non-OEM charger, but I will continue to investigate.
I planned on replacing the battery as well if the problems persisted. Really sucks that nobody in Motorola is willing to help their customers. I have probably spent upwards to 10 hours troubleshooting this issue and trying to find a root cause, but I'm not a mobile phone professional. If you contact Motorola, they just think $$$ and tell you to send in for a replacement instead of resolving the ROOT CAUSE. That ensures the DT2 to be my final Motorola purchase for a very long time.
Will try that
I hope it works, I really do
Because I can't basically use my phone outside because when it turns off I have to turn it on using a charger!!

I have corrected this problem in my Verizon Turbo 2, the fix is to buy and install a new battery.
My own phone gradually lost it's charge capacity, it would deplete rapidly, then it wouldn't power on except on charger, then it wouldn't power on at all.
Funny thing, this problem is on multiple forums with no fix.
I tried, factory reset multiple times lost all kinds of important texts and memos.
Then I changed the battery from here:
ebay: search " New Replace Battery for Motorola Turbo 2 XT1585 Moto X XT1581 SNN5958A FB55 -USA "
I would say it is an extremely easy swap. Just have to heat up the back rubber with a hairdryer to release it, or not! (I didn't, I slowly peeled mine)
If that was helpful, shoot me those sweet wage slavery bills at my paypal catindahat247(at)yahoo(dot)com

I had assumed it was a battery issue myself. I just now replaced my battery as well, so I will see if my problems resolve. $20 for a replacement battery > buying a new phone, that's for sure!
Got mine fixed by changing my charger. In my case my charger was the issue. Yes it's the charger that came with the phone.
I swapped out chargers with my girlfriend, she uses nexus 6. So far the nexus charger has worked magic

Sorry for delays! Yes, this has absolutely resolved my problems. I bought my replacement battery off of eBay and I have not had random shut downs or fast battery drain. I will say the battery life isn't as good as a brand new device (from the manufacturer), but it's a barely noticeable difference in battery life.
