A Bluetooth gaming controller for Note 4 - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey.
As i have got the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 a little over a week ago, i figured out that the phone is perfect for pocket gaming.
However, i need a very good gaming controller before it can be perfect for that. Before i asks about the controllers i will just tell that i have the MHL 2.0 to HDMI adapter to my phone, so i can plug my phone to the TV. So i just need the controller.
I have been looking at 2 alternatives that looks to be good.
1: Moga Pro Mobile Gaming System.
2. Samsung Wireless GamePad.
I'm looking at those 2 because they have the ability to carry the phone if you are not close to a TV. I just want to hear what you guys / peoples here thinks about those to gaming controllers and which of those are the best?
Ofc, i'm open to other controllers (that can hold the phone) to as long as you can give a good explanation on why you would choose another gaming controller.
And lastly, as i'm living in Norway, i'll guess i can use Amazon.co.uk to buy a controller and get it sent to Norway right?

what is the best bluetooth game controller for my note 4?

[Q] Gaming controller suggestions

So I'm torn between two options. A PS3 controller + gameklip, and the Moga Pro. Specifically with 4.3.
With our lack of a self powered USB OTG, and the recent changes in Bluetooth from 4.2 onward, what is the "best" controller to use with our N4s?
Rooting is not a problem. As most reviews of android game controllers revolve around not having to be rooted, and having USB OTG support.
I'm leaning towards the Moga Pro with its built in clip, and dual connection mode. (Bluetooth HID, and the Moga app.)
Anyone has experience using both controllers on the N4?
Edit: wasn't sure if to post here or in the Q&A forum. Since the question itself is about accessories. If a mod deems necessary, please move this thread.

I haven't use the Moga so i'm posting for no reason...ha
But I really do love the ps3 controller using an app by the same name from the play store. It really is great how you can image map and such. That being said, there is a Moga thread in this forum somewhere and you might get better results there. Id be interested to hear about the comparison though.

Yeah, the compatibility of the ps3 seems to be the best. The ability to map buttons to screen presses seems to be the best way to make any game work, whether it has controller support or not.
I've heard of lag issues of using Bluetooth and WiFi at the same time with the Moga, not sure if these issues were ever fixed or not. Are they present with the ps3 controller? I have unlimited mobile data, but reception is obviously better on WiFi than mobile while inside my house.
The main thing stopping me from using the PS3 controller is the price. Once I buy an official controller plus the gameklip, you're looking at almost $80 after taxes and/or shipping.
I've been watching craigslist and might start looking at local pawn shops to see if I can find a used ps3 controller at a better price. (Unlike GameStop which gives you a whole $5 off for a used controller)
Edit: and while i asked for opinions from those who have used both, I'm more than open to hear from those who have used one or the other. I just want opinions from people who actually use one of these devices on a N4 with 4.3.

hello my friend, i recently purchased the moga pro controller to play with my n4, and im absolutly happy about it, the control feels really nice in your hand, like really nice..i've been playing a lot mc4,riptide gp2, asphalt 8, shadowgun deadzone and a few more, and they all run perfectly with no laggs, i repit, 0 lagg xD... i've been playing some emulator aswell, using the moga universal driver controller, and it runs just fine , playing zelda ocarina of time on this bad boy is really awesome , i have tried sixasis controller, but for like 2-3 days, and it was ok, but u need a gameklip to play with, and the set up for mapping is a bit strange to me ( i dont know why) setting up the moga controller was not a problem, is really easy to set up.
i hope this help to you, if u have any question for the moga pro controller, just ask
grettings
(pardon for my english)

I'm not sure if it will work but I think ziddeys kernel can work...its a modded version of Franco's...it supports OTG...but ul need an OTG cable with external power...
I'm currently using it with flash drives, Mouse, card readers,etc...but I'm not sure if a game controller might work or not...
Here's the link to the kernel...

I'm on 4.3 rasbean, I use both ps3 controller and the moga controller. I use the ps3 controller when my phone is connected to the TV. I stream my pc, and I play fps and emulators on the TV, it's like a little console for me. Moga works great for the road doesn't work with my pc streaming app but works great with other apps like gta.
Both worked well with Franco and I haven't noticed lag with them. I use them often. Both work great, but Moga doesn't work with everything like kainy my pc streaming app, I play Diablo 3 with the ps3 controller
What's gameklip?

I will have to check out kainy, that's one feature I loved about the nvidia shield. While the streaming app sounds awesome, I honestly only see myself using it with diablo iii. KB/mouse > controller for fps. Strategy games have too many buttons. Diablo is honestly perfect.
The phone will be the screen. I won't be hooking it up to the television. I'll wait for a dedicated device for that.
Gameklip is a ~$20 plastic clip that will hold your phone onto the ps3 controller. Much like the Moga will hold your phone. A little pricey, but from all the reviews its a very well made clip.

For you it sounds like you need to sell the Moga and get a gameklip.

I had an Ipega, it wasn't great. Really want to try a Moga but they're still too expensive in the UK.

Reasons you SHOULD buy a M.O.J.O

There are many reasons to buy the device, but here are some of the highlights:
1. Runs stock Android. Not some heavily secured or modified version as seen on the FireTV, Ouya, etc
2. Rooting does NOT void your warranty. The company (Mad Catz) actually EMBRACES it!
3. It is bar non the most powerful Android set top box available today. No other cheap knockoff compares.
4. It contains the well renowned Nvidia Tegra 4 processor and all of the power that comes with it.
5. The controller is a nice, solid piece of equipment equivalent to a Xbox 360 controller
6. It has USB 3.0 (very few tv boxes have this)
7. It handles a slew of addons. I have a 7-port USB 3 hub, 2TB hard drive, two USB controllers, wireless mouse and keyboard.
8. It's more than just a game console. It has literally become my PC. It is that powerful!
9. It has nothing to do with "Amiga and Wolves". Actually, there is a UAE emulator, so it does have something to do with the Amiga...so that is ok. As long as it has nothing to do with the prior
10. It is priced *right* at $199. Once you realize how versatile this device is, it is a bargain. I almost want a second one as a spare, but will wait to see if any K1 boxes come out in the future.
There are many more reasons of course, but that is my top ten list. Great device!
I agree..
But lately I bought my second CTRLR and would say that the CTRLR is actually the best part of MOJO!
As time goes on, others are catching up with the mojo's specs... while the CTRLR is really unique.
Im no order:
1. Travel clip for your mobile (better then the shield IMHO)
2. Mouse mode is really excellent, especially compared to other consoles that dont have it
3. PC/Mac gamepad, including mouse mood.. I use mine as a wireless mouse and yes media keys work!
4. Great battery life and AAA is good because i have rechargables for remotes
5. Excellent build quality
6. Media keys.. Works great and i can use then without looking
7. BT4 ready for new devices
I think the MOJO is a good stational alternative to Shield but then the price is a little high cuz you get the same hardware in a mobile device for the same price.
If they would reduce the price to at least $150, I'd think about buying one to replace my Ouya.
Honestly, I've stopped using mine. I'll sell it for $150. It's rooted, of course.

Can I ask why you stopped using your MOJO? Just curious.
Gaming is the main reason why you should buy a MOJO. Great for emulation and certain android games. The selection of games isn't bad, I mean how many android games can you play at a time? There is plenty of material of solid games that can take up quite a bit of time. Media playback is mediocre for me. Price is too high for what you get. I agree with gwaldo, the controller is awesome. If kit Kat comes and ouya store comes and some bug fixes come, i'd say its a great system. I would however need a replacement if I were to get rid of it, because I love the android on big screen and mojo does well with it overall. It's by far my fastest android I have. Just needs some fine tuning and I hope it comes
I wanted a streaming media giant that played all my console games... The experience is less than ideal streaming media-wise with the MOJO. I dunno...I still use it for game emulation sometimes, but it has been at least a month. I love the controller, though.
I actually bought a Note PRO 12.2, and since then I spend more time on it than any other device. I have it paired with a keyboard and controller so it does everything I wanted the MOJO for except Tegra 4...which I am living without. It's like having my own TV and my wife can't change the show on Netflix or make me turn my game off. The SPen is the icing on the cake, really.

[Q] Using Bluetooth Controllers on S5 KitKat

Hi,
I read somewhere that you can no longer use wii controllers since samsung did the updates on the blue tooth stack.
Can i still use a proper blue tooth game controller? Im looking for very small pad i can carry with me.
I found this Nyko play pad thats supposed to work on android, will it still work on my S5 ? Dont want to spend $40 if its a turkey.
http://www.nyko.com/products/product-detail/?name=PlayPad (Black)
Thanks.
What about the MOGA line of Bluetooth gaming controllers?
I have the MOGA Power Pro, and I love it. I has and will continue to work with every android device I have. They run anywhere from $40-$70, but you are paying for a quality made product, with exceptional support and a large community. Just do a simple Google search and you will see what I am talking about. Good Luck!
:good:
I bought the steelseries free instead as the moga is too big, I wanted the smallest full featured pad i could get.

[Q] TN7 with dualshock 4 and sony gcm or nyko smart clip?

I have already ordered a TN7 on amazon. Despite being over a year old it has an extreme value for money at 9000rupees.(150$). I want to play games with my dualshock 4 on the tab. So–
1. Can my ds4 connect to TN7 by sixaxis app or usb otg?
2.If yes, then will sony game control mount and nyko smart clip for ds4 fit the tab?
3.If both fits, then which one is better in reliability and ease of use?
The sixaxis app is supposed to support Dualshock 4 controllers now but I don't know if it will work with the TN7. The TN7 has had issues pairing with PS3 controllers over bluetooth in the past so I would be weary of PS4 controller support though I was able to finally get my PS3 controller to pair last night. It should however work using OTG, my PS3 controller always did.
After look at them I don't think either of those mounts are going to work. The Sony uses a suction cup and the back of the TN7 is textured so I can't see that working. The nyko is listed as being for phones up to 3.5" wide and the TN7 is 4.75". Some people in the comments have said it fits 7" and 8" tablets but others say it doesn't so there is no guarantee that it will work.

I tried using a otg cable but it's like kind of a hit or miss thing. It sometimes connects and works well. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it disconnects. Same happens to flash drives.
Does it works well on your tegra note?
I have never had an issue with flash drives or controllers connecting on mine. Maybe your OTG cable is defective.
Yeah. That might be the case. Can you post a link to the cable you use?(if you've bought it online)

HELP! Looking for a cheap and good bluetooth controller!

hey guys,
as you can see in the title i am looking for a good bluetooth controller that works flawlessly with our tegra note 7. btw it has to be a 14 button controller like the xbox 360 controller.
the problem is i only found tons of expensive ones like the moga, steelseries or snakebyte idroid controllers and a bunch of chinese controllers which seem to be too cheap and too bad in terms of quality and compatibility.
i just want to play all kind of games (on emulators for most of the time) while i am still able to charge the tablet so i can play longer instead of playing for an hour before the battery goes low.
i found an interesting controller thats called "red samurai v2" that was sold by gamestop. but i can't find this one anymore since it is not available in the online store from gamestop itself. i also can't find it in other stores like amazon or ebay. i googled the **** out this in hope to find at least one that wasn't sold out. i heard the red samurai v2 was extremely good in terms of quality and compatibility for its price (was just about 10-20$)
since i gave up on finding this particular one, i am right at the beginning again.
now i am asking you if you have any good recommendations for some bluetooth controllers that are not too expensive (maximum 25$) but still work as good as any other normal gaming controller on our tablet (like the xbox 360 controller i used to play with via usb OTG).
pls remember: it has to be a 14 button controller just like the xbox 360 controller
very important to me: 4 shoulder buttons (L+R Bumpers and L+R Triggers). because many cheap ones only have 2 bumpers but no triggers.
I have not tested if the controller works with the TN7 (even though I do own both), but the Xiaomi controller is a bargain. Super amazing build quality, though you do most likely have to import it and wait up to a month to receive it.
Another option would be to get a PS3 controller (which should be cheap by now seeing as the console is in its retirement age) and use it with the Sixaxis app, but again, I am not up to date to confirm if this works.

i also found the xiaomi controller a while ago. but the sad thing is the import costs make it to expensive for me now. i mean i only need a controller for my tablet. maybe it will find its way to europe someday so i don't have to pay 10+€ for just import costs.
and for the ps3 controller, someone already made a thread that he managed to get it to work on the TN7 but since i used to play xbox 360, the ps3 controller just feels very small in my hands (i have a friend with a ps3, thats because i know the haptics of it)
guess i will just wait a bit and look if i can find the right one or if one of the already existing controllers to get cheaper.
I bought my Xiaomi controller at allbuy.com, it was around 20 Euro with everything included. But I did wait 4 or 5 weeks for it to arrive. Worth checking it out.
