General discussion about KING'z ROMz.......

Just wanted to start a nice thread about anything to do with any/all of King's ROMs that have been created so far. Also another thing about starting this forum is for all new members who don't have enough 'post's' under their belt to leave any feedback/get question answered on King's main threads under the EVO 4G Android Development.

Google confirms Nexus S Android 2.3.3 update changed screen color temps

As seen on big sites and Google forums. This may become so BIG! that Google just might be hitting us unhappy people with a Ota/app.apk/link to update soon because of the change of colors on the Nexus S....Here is the link...oooh, yeah.

Looks okay to me. But it would be awesome if we could adjust it our selves.

Totally disagree...
The 2.3.3 color settings are a massive improvement!
The real problem is that Samsung never addressed this issue with their SAMOLED phones to begin with. Now they've trained their customers to expect these garish contrast and color imbalances.
If you read through those threads you linked, you'll see that there are plenty of people that like the new color rendering.
Maybe Google should make the display settings user-adjustable like a TV.

Its been reported and a mod will move it but in the future I would suggest you read the rules of the forums. This should have been posted on one of the many threads already discussing the color 'issue'.
Now, on topic:
To anyone who thinks there really is an issue here is what I want to see: Get a sheet of blank white printer paper. Navigate your phone to Google.com and hold the sheet of paper over the google logo so you see only the white paper and the white background of the page. Tell me how different the two colors look and take a picture. Post them. I'd bet they are pretty damn close because I know the colors on my Nexus S and my wife's after I updated both to stock 2.3.3 were very natural looking. What most people call bright on the other SGS devices is actually just very blue which the human eye reads as very bright white. Its not. I
Here is another fun test:
Navigate to this image on your phone: Picture on 2.3.3 and see how much detail you can see. Now revert back to 2.3.2 (just flash any current ROM) and do the same test. Guess what? You won't see near as much detail. What you think is deep blacks actually should be nuanced greys but because of the overly blue saturation it appears to be black.
One final fun test: If you have photoshop open a new file and make it blue. Now invert the color. Guess what color comes up? Yellow! The same supposed new tint of the screen.

If I make people who clutter the development section with useless posts that are redundant and irrelevant then I'm happy about that. Also, mods know that they can't read every new thread posted so they do ask that people help enforce the rules, I did that politely. You took it personally and decided to attack me.

I'm not a troll or do I flame the threads. I am a real person that love XDA and, would never troll there site. I was excited and really wanted to get the good news to the people who don't like the new color on there Nexus S. I spoke to Ry Guy over @ Google forums and, I do see that there are two sides to the story. one side said that they had a problem from the beginning, now the other side; witch is my side and many of others don't think that it should have been change. You would be a lie if you are saying that more people like this, then the one's that don't. If you read the link over a Google forums that I posted, you would see that more people don't like the change of the color then that do.

I'm not calling you a troll nor do I know how many people like it as opposed to how many don't. What I can tell you is which side is wrong about it being factually "wrong". What I mean by that is claiming the yellow tint is a bug or something of the sort is false. I can see the difference between the two screens; I held my wife's 2.3.2 phone next to my 2.3.3 and I saw the difference but I also know that what people are calling overly yellowish is actually just more natural. Now, if people dislike that they are more than welcome to try and change it for themselves but I would rather have an accurate display on my phone that shows minute details than having one that looks a bit brighter while not actually being brighter.

@kenvan19, O'k but, do you think that Google should have put a app.apk in the update for us to adjust the screen i'll selves to even things out? I think it was a bold move on Google. Something like what T-Mobile did with the Vibrant, when they put the Task Manager in a update to save on the battery.

Honestly, and I know this will sound ignorant, I don't think they should've. I think they made the right choice and that there are plenty of apps on the market that can alter the color temperature not to mention the voodoo kernel which most people are reporting makes everything look "normal" again.

I don't really understand why people unhappy with it. I was going to sale my Nexus S because of this purple tint issue, and then Voodoo color patch released for Nexus S. It also fixed the purple tint on dark greys. And now Google released an update that fixes those purple tint at all.
Now it looks like how it should be.
White is white, grey is grey, black is black. Nothing washed out.
I <3 my Nexus S now =)

They were trying to fix the gray's which they did, but they did it wrong. Thankfully, there's Netarchy's kernel working with voodoo color and it looks awesome.

Actually, you're wrong. They did it perfectly. If you read any of the posts by myself or the others who have actually done real color calibrations then you would know that. Its just that the blind masses tend to like bright, shiny stuff better than things that look, you know, real.

And this post is why you've been added to my ignore list.

Got the phone yesterday, it had 2.3.2, upgraded to 2.3.3 and I think that the colors look washed out and yellowish.
I'm not saying it isn't right in a colorimetrical way, but I loved the 2.3.2 colors a lot more.
I hope they do something about this in the next update.

how far was your screen separation?

I'm noticing very very slight lift on the left side of the screen from my staples purchased n7. For those that have dealt with screen separation, how noticeable was it? I'm wondering if its starting to go or I'm just noticing it..
I got my shipping notification from google last night. I'm thinking that I'll return the staples n7 and deal with google if the shipped n7 has any problems. They seem to be very good about exchanges whereas staples might be a little easier to deal with a straight return.

Please see my 'grow up' statement. You're not being helpful at all.

Neither are you starting the 87th thread on screen separation.

Maybe 1/5 to 1/3 of a millimeter. Very, very small amount I wouldn't have known most likely had it not been for the great threads on the subject around here. You have to hold it up to the light and look at a specific profile angle to see it.

HTC One vs S4 v XZ

Why are we not allowed a vs thread (eg; this one just closed....S4 leaks just in) yet in the XZ forum they can have a XZ vs....thread that goes on forever?
Forgive me if i am being dumb and their mods are slacker than the ones here. Just wondered like.

Exactly my point.....just trying to clarify the difference between the 2, do we have better/stricter mods on here than on the other? could have been an interesting thread.
No matter, i won't lose sleep over it.
I have no idea what i have just written as i have just been smashing away at my keyboard and letters keep appearing on my screen.
I only know what has been said on here as well because my wife told me as i can't read for the life of me either.
I look forward to waking up with a hangover tomorrow so i can carry on my life grunting and smelling things so i know what i'm doing and where i am.

The back skin would be the OP's post in that forum thread. Aka DBrand. If OP fully wants white, get the white bumper + dbrand skin that is white carbon fiber or white leather.

My english is very poor. I'm from Spain, obviusly... I'm Searchin a Skin White exactly like the original black Nexus look, but in white colour. No Carbon, no Aluminium, no Leather type. Sparkly White ceramic. I didn't mean Sparkly until today.

There's no sparkly skin, the best you can get is probably dbrand's white back vinyl stickers.
