No 50gb dropbox for verizon
It doesn't look like Verizon customers will be getting the 50gb of dropbox space.
"Which carriers are not participating in the promotional deal?

United States:
Verizon
AT&T: Only some AT&T devices are eligible for the promotion. Note 4 AT&T devices are eligible for 48 GB of space for six months. Other AT&T devices are not eligible.

Thanks for the tip. I'm a big Kindle reader and I like the one free book per month. But, when I go into the Kindle app I can't figure out how to download a book for free. Any ideas on this?

Ok, there's something I'm not getting here. I go to the web page, I log in and I'm taken to the Samsung Apps store. I select an app, say Autodesk Sketchbook for Galaxy, and it tells me I get the pro features for free. When I click on "How to Get" it says to download it on the device. So, I go to the Play store and download the app. Then when I try to get the "Pro" features it wants me to pay $3.99.
Is there a Samsung app store for this stuff? If so, I can't find it.

Ah, thanks. The first thing I did when I got my Note 4 was install the Apex launcher so I never even saw that widget on the Samsung launcher.

It's really strange that the only way to access the Galaxy Apps Store out of the box is through a widget. I didn't want to go through the hassle of adding the widget every time I wanted to go check something out (mostly for updates to Samsung apps and for Nokia Here Maps), so I installed the Galaxy Apps Store APK from Samsung. It can be found here on your phone (if you click the link on a computer, you'll get a site designed for desktop usage that doesn't have the link to the .apk). Installing this will put a shortcut in your app drawer.

Class action lawsuit against Samsung

The Samsung Vibrant owner is setting up a class action lawsuit against T-Mobile & Samsung for Unfair and Deceptive Consumer Business Practices:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912480
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912476
I think we (GT owners) should join them because all the Samsung ad & online video promotions are showing off the phone calling capability as a GT selling points. We as the (US) buyers did not know the phone calling feature was removed until we actually purchased the GT & started using it....
What are you talking about? I knew you couldn't use it as a phone before I bought mine. Besides, it's the carriers who decided not to have voice enabled as far as I know.
I agree with the second poster... I knew before I purchased the phone. It was the first question I asked, and I was disappointed with the answer. But I knew...
I could see how ordering it from the T-Mo website might have left someone with the impression it had the ability to be used as a phone.
I dont see this class action going anywhere at all.
While I agree that that the tab was taken away the call feature but
1. I do know that before I purchase it
2. Is it really Samsung fault or the US providers? This is something you should complain with FTC as they approve the device to be sold like this in US. Who's gonna sue FTC? I guess EFF
I agree, i also think that we should join them not only because of the call feature but also because of the fact that the galaxy tab did not come pre-loaded with the apps that the promo video shows such as readers hub and social hub.
Same here on Bell. I went in to buy one and was talking to the sales girl and realized she inferred the phone was not turned on. I told her all the videos I had seen on it were just get a bluetooth and you are good to go. She even called Rogers for me to see if they had the phone turned on and same thing there. So I didn't buy it.

There's one floating around this site but it's just Seven software and it blows. You can hook it up to MSN Messenger and Google Talk, period. The only half decent thing about it is the mail client and that's only because you can connect to more than one Exchange server. Otherwise it's extremely basic and it talks to Exchange via it's OWA interface, not even activesync. Don't waste your time, it looks NOTHING like that artist's rendering of what Seven may have originally wanted to produce and is now passing as a "screen shot".

£120 worth of vouchers on Samsung hub (UK)

Hi there. Had a look at the Samsung hub and when it eventually loaded I clicked the Exclusives tab and discovered I could get voucher codes for 7 digital and Samsung Movies to the tune of £120. I'm in the UK so don't know if it'll work elsewhere.
Just thought I'd pad it on!
Is that through Samsung Apps?
I don't see exclusives anywhere, where do I find them?

Once you have downloaded your voucher code you should then follow the steps below to redeem your voucher at Samsung Movies and 7digital:
a) MOVIE ENTITLEMENT:
Download the Samsung Movies application from Samsung Hub;
Register for Samsung Movies;
Choose rental movies up to the value of £65;
Input voucher code into the Samsung Movies application.
b) MUSIC ENTITLEMENT:
Go to the 7digital store link within Samsung Hub;
Register for 7digital music service;
Choose tracks up to the value of £50;
Enter voucher code to download.
To download the AVG pro security application you should access the Samsung Hub, click on 'Exclusives' and click on the AVG icon to download the application.
The link above doesn't bring up any offers for me. Just a page all about the Note!

Samsung Hub...
The Samsung Hub is an app that comes with the phone, just like the Social Hub, Readers Hub, etc. Samsung Apps is different.
If you run the Samsung Hub its got cool recommendations for your Note - its how I found Zen Brush, for example.
You have to go to a specific 7Digital subsite (Samsung.7digital.com I think it was, but its in the Samsung Hub details.) For movies, just download Samsung Movies from the app store!

Have went into samsung hub and got the exclusive bit, asked for my imei number, selected get and then select but the only thing that comming up is some take that app, anyone any idea why not getting the voucher to come up? (am in the uk and gnote came from o2 uk as contract upgrade)
It's a personal choice I guess but this is interesting!
wwwDOTeurodroidDOTcom/2011/11/18/google-man-mobile-anti-virus-sellers-are-scammers/
Incidentally, bought my note on launch day and got £250 of vouchers (£100 Movies £75 Music and £75 Ebooks)...
7digital is a bit annoying as I can only download single tracks as opposed to full albums (means you 'pay' more for a full album).
Samsung movies doesn't have (for my taste) a very good range of films.
But Kobo is excellent and I now have enough books to last me a long time..
Dan
Has anyone had any luck with this. My Note came today, logged onto Samsung Hub, left IMEI and just have a Take That offer.
I seem to remember something similar happening with Samsung and the original Galaxy Tab. You had to register the device and wait 24 hrs.
Hoping this works for me but anyone actually got these without registering?

same here
according to the terms & conditions though:
This promotion is only open to UK residents who are aged 18 or over who purchase a new Samsung Galaxy Note handset in-store at participating UK retailers only during the Promotion Period (a "Promotion Handset")
I ordered it by phone as it wasn't available in-store, bummer. Pity CPW didn't mention that, but they don't seem to have any at the stores right now, only seem to be able to order online or by phone. Or perhaps the offer is only open to SIM-free purchases, mine was an upgrade.

Hi,
To quote from "Dropbox":
Is my Samsung phone or tablet eligible for the free space promotion?
« Back to Help Center
If you have a brand new Samsung phone or tablet with Dropbox already installed, you may be eligible to earn 48 GB of free space for up to two years. To qualify:
The Dropbox app must be pre-loaded on your device.
You need to complete at least five steps from our Get Started guide.
Your carrier must be participating in the promotion.
Make sure Dropbox is pre-loaded
Dropbox must be "pre-loaded" on your brand new phone or tablet, which means that the Dropbox app already came installed without the need to download it from the Google Play store.
If the Dropbox app is pre-loaded on your device, you may qualify for 48 GB of bonus space for up to one year.
Additionally, some devices that have the Dropbox app pre-loaded may also have the Dropbox "out-of-box experience," which means that the first time you turn on the device, you'll be asked to sign in to Dropbox or create a new account. If your device has the out-of-box experience, you may qualify for 48 GB of bonus space for up to two years.
The first Dropbox account that signs in to the app on the device will get 48 GB of free space (assuming the other conditions are met). Each account is only able to claim this promotion once.
Complete the Get Started guide
To claim your extra space, you need to complete at least five steps from our Get Started guide. Please note that some steps require your desktop computer.
Make sure your carrier is participating
Some carriers have opted out of the promotion on phones otherwise eligible. Among those not currently participating are the following carriers:
United States: AT&T
Japan: NTT DoCoMo
Korea: SK Telecom
Verizon customers: Some Samsung devices on Verizon may be eligible for 48 GB of bonus space for one or two years. As described above, your device needs to be pre-loaded with the Dropbox app, or pre-loaded with the Dropbox out-of-box experience, to receive the applicable promotion. If your device does not have the Dropbox app pre-loaded, then it is not eligible.
Whatever it is ,we know that it IS limited...

Sammy is 2 years as long as the network operator is taking part, certainly in the UK the UK they are all 2 year 48gig deals.
Create a new account then check your email, complete any 5 steps in the starting guide and it enables your space.
When I've set up my phone, in the initial process there was a question to sign in or create new Dropbox account, I signed in with my current one after which I received e-mail to claim the free space. The additional 48 GB are valid for 24 months.
I received the extra space on my S3 but when adding my account onto my S4 and I didn't get the extra space. Looks to be one per account?

Presumably ,just enough time to "buy" some space before you have to move it.

Thanks,

I purchased:
Dengue Fever - Dengue Fever (self titled CD)
Dengue Fever - Escape From Dragon House
Dropkick Murphys - Live on St Patrick's Day
Phil Anselmo / Warbeast - War of the Gargantuas
An All-Star Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd
An Industrial Rock Tribute to Judas Priest
All winners!
Note that I did have to search for a while to find them. I noticed that the Samsung Store search index is really messed up, and I had to try a couple of different techniques to even find this stuff. For most of these, I had to go to the artist page and look at all of the albums listed on their artist page. Searching for the album title, or going directly to a list of albums by the artists did not work (ie. these titles were not displayed at all).
If you didn't get your email with codes.
I didn't get my email at first. Later that day I found it in my GMail.
I used my Roadrunner email to register, and that's where I was expecting the reply.
However; the GMail account was the one identified with my Samsung account, so that's where they sent the email.

Registration question
I got 2 of these for family members, and have a question on how this credit is received. I'd like to attach one person to one tablet and another person to the other. It's my understanding that I'm eligible for 2 of these credits - one for each device... BUT, I'd then like to also attach a shared GMail account to each device and use the Google Play credit on the shared account.
Google says you can attach up to 3 devices to an account, and I know Android allows multiple accounts without an issue. What I don't know is how this Samsung credit sends you the $$. Do I need to register both with Samsung under the same GMail account? (Would Samsung even allow me to do so?) Or do they e-mail you the codes after the fact and let you take that code to another account?
I asked Samsung support, and they said it just wasn't possible - but that answer doesn't appear to coincide with their published Terms & Conditions, so I don't really believe it. I'm hoping someone that's been through the process can guide me to an answer I'd like to hear.

Verizon Blocking Samsung Cloud

I switched to Verizon from Sprint and may be regretting that decision as Verizon is blocking the Samsung 15GB of cloud access I was using on Sprint. Seems that Verizon is being the greedy company as they are forcing you to buy anything over 5GB of cloud storage. I find the Samsung cloud backs up more when it comes to phone settings then the Verizon one does. I understand all carriers put their own software on the phone but I never had a vendor block and app or feature such as that. Debating on just switching back to Sprint.
have you tried side loading?
I don't have the app installer to even try that, it is also not in the Play Store, it was something Samsung installed. If I used Quick Shortcut maker I can see it in "activities" but it won't launch properly. I think Verizon did something to prevent it from loading.

They did this on the Note 7, I think eventually a way was found. Try searching the verizon note 7 forums.
If Samsung provides free functionality on the phone that duplicates something that Verizon offers for a monthly fee - like cloud storage, for example - that Samsung free feature will be removed by Verizon.
Last year, they removed Samsung's "FindMyMobile" feature from the S7. When I inquired about why it was removed, they steered me toward their VZ Protection service - that has similar locate and wipe capabilities - for only $11.99/month.
Ever wonder how they got to be worth $200 billion?

why would they put a apk inside their store? Does this even work?
When is Samsung going to get a backbone and stand up to this bull****? Apple tells Verizon to F-Off, so should Samsung.

What advantage does the Samsung FindMyMobile have over the base Google "Android Device Manager" (which does work with my Verizon S8+)?

Did anyone figure out how to get this working on the S8? I tried the short cut method and had no success

I looked into this and I found out that FindMyMobile can turn location services on, which is useful for me as I usually leave location off unless I need it. I believe my verizon s5 had included, so somewhere along the line verizon forced it to be removed.
Anyone doing some more research into getting samsung cloud working? especially now that verizon decided it's cloud would go pay onlyand stop the free service (except for contacts)?? I found the history on the note 7, but the number of running services/processes was 3 or 4 vs just 1 on the s8 when viewing it with quickshortcutmaker...

Flash the unlocked firmware on it.
I found a way to do it. About to post a guide.
Confirmed they are blocking it. You must use VPN to bypass. :good: Bye Net Neutrality. Welcome great firewall of Trump*cough* China.
