Xperia Z3 isn't included in the list, in accordance to the website: http://developer.sonymobile.com/kno...e/open-devices/list-of-devices-and-resources/
So it looks as if Z3 binaries and resources haven't been released yet. We're going to have to wait a little longer, so it seems. I'm looking forward to a AOSP experience on my Z3, though I do enjoy some of the tweaks Sony have added to their software experience.

z3 will be added soon

buiding unified kernel is the same as building stock kernel
br
J

thanks.. I was getting a bit mixed-up with the choose device config section in the instructions as that appeared to suggest non-unified instructions.
as an aside, I built z2 aosp last night as test run for z3 and all worked successfully ~ thanks for the great instructions, tutorial, and resources.

Android 4.2 for Xperia 2011

I recently heard that FXP will stop developing for the whole Xperia 2011 series, when just around the corner, Android 4.2 was standing with a bag of goodies, for which FXP has a valid reason, that these devices lack ram to support features of 4.2. I decided to build 4.2 from source for 2011 devices, for those who'd want to try out the latest version of android. I can handle compiling ROM. But need some help with kernel. if you can help out, or if you wanna be a part of the project. Leave a comment at this thread or PM me. After public release, Dev's can submit their patches / fixes for the ROM to that thread....
I do this because i don't want us to be stuck with stock based ROMs forever and because 4.2 looks awesome . All in all, Thankyou FXP for your work.
one thing that our xperia 2011 devices (especially neo/v ) lack is kernel developers ,we dont have linux 3.0 kernel which which would have made the user experience of JB 4.1 or 4.2 better , linux 3.0 supports many advanced features of JB ,but due to lack of these kernels our user experience will be incomplete , building & testing out these kernels will take hell of time and patience.
i hope this doesn't disappoint's any user or dev just a suggestion
linux 3.0 kernels would be awesome on our phones
i wish you all the best for taking such a great project

I would like to help, though I'm not of that much use YET.
Right now I'm mainly into developing apps, currently learning myself the basics of Kernel Development, I'm also capable of compiling Android.
Going to mess around a bit today, haven't compiled Android for my Xperia Pro yet.
Dympy.
Ok so.. Half way through compiling it failed, because of low storage or something. I read up online and found out that I need atleast 30gigs for compiling, where as I only have around 15-20 free on my laptop, lol unlucky I guess.. So project delayed - until I get more storage for my pc or if someone compiles for me if I give them the sources (if want 4.2 faster). And as for the kernel, instead of building a kernel (which may take long). I'll be modifying the current JB kernel for 4.2

I'm almost done with re-setting up my Linux Install, it got wiped when I installed Windows 8 on my laptop..
Anyway, I have about 800GB of storage left, if you sent me a PM with some directions and such, I'll try to compile when the install is done.

12.0.A.2..254 kernel sources

Maybe I missed some annoucement... does anyone know if Sony will release sources for 12.0.A.2.254?
Seems to me that development for custom kernels (like Doomlord's) have stalled because there are no sources available.

As I understand it they have no choice but to release the kernel source as it's linux and the licensing requires that it be made available. That said, the proprietary blobs for the cameras, wifi, etc. aren't generally licensed the same way so they don't normally get released, at least in source form.
I've requested Sony to provide the source and they will do that really soon

Nice! :good: :fingers-crossed:
Just out of curiosity:
I had an Xperia Arc. My perception was that Sony released the kernel sources (including proprietary modules and everything else which is necessary to build a working custom kernel) relatively quickly and without anyone asking for it. Has this policy changed, did they just forget in case of the Xperia SP/.254 kernel sources or did I just perceive this wrong?
Finally Sony releases .254 kernel sources

Probably not, the kernel used for 10.1is not related to the Sony kernels as I ported the drivers to a newer kernel version. We already have any changes that may be in the 2.254 kernel and more. (I didn't notice any changes to the Sony drivers).

Finally had a chance to look at them as I got home from work only just before...
Just left my computer to push them today so didn't get a chance to check them but adfad666 is right and not much actual changes changed though which are useful for us.
Just some general CAF / kernel updates so not too important.
A panel driver was updated but I'm doubt we we will use it as our kernel is not based off stock.
Probably not. . Let's wait for 4.3 kernel from Sony as it will be worth rebasing off that
Thanks for the link to sources....

Nvidia Tegra Note 7 Sources..

Following the e-mail i have just had from Nvidia we now have Sources to which we can not use to hopefully make custom roms.
Sources can be found here: http://nv-tegra.nvidia.com/gitweb/?...0;hb=ae97277f0ad5e87aee6b3d26e9b8ee202e6c7853
Hopefully this will also aid Developers to make new custom roms for this great device.
As a side note we will also be getting 4.4.3 on the Tegra Note 7 as well.
Good news ! Thank you !

So after downloading the sources, I managed to sort my Android VM and build the sources.
The files that compiled worked and produced a Android 4.4 KitKat but just a 4.4 kitkat. So now its time to start working on Cyanogen Mod sources to see what needs to be ported from Nvidia's code to Cyanogen Mod's sources.
This is not a promise by me to get CM11 working on our device, i am going to have a dab and try. I am more likely to fail big time! wish me luck!

Hi,
No luck here either.
I went to the link provided in the OP.
Clicked on "List of devices and resources".
On the new page I clicked on "Check out the AOSP for XPeria Z2 tablet project on Github".
Created the "local_manifests" folder and file within as said on the new page.
THEN it says "Download the zip file with vendor binaries from: http://developer.sonymobile.com/knowledge-base/open-source/android-open-source-project-for-xperia-devices/"...
And that's where the problem is : that page is not available...
So we're obviously missing some resources to be able to build at least if we'd like to build KK...
And I know KK is now an old and outdated thing of the far past.
But I happen to use XPosed. And that does not work on LOL.
If I can't customise to my needs, then I can stick to stock and debloat to my liking.
Regards.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for your answer.
That's the link to the LOL binaries.
As I said in my post, I am looking for the KK binaries because XPosed does not work (for now ? but for how long ?) on LOL...
Anyways, even with the binaries provided (LOL or KK for Z2 Phone, not Tablet) I am unable to build.
As soon as I fire the build, I immediately get an error "The make file you're using is version 4.1. Build requires make file version 3.81 or 3.82".
So the "make" file is too recent and Sony did not care to update it's sources...
I really am wondering why Sony makes such an effort to provide a "beginner's friendly guide to build AOSP for Xperia" if the whole thing is then obviously aimed only at developers that can help themselves out of those problems.
Regards.

Hi,
Cool... but WTF doesn't Sony also release the needed binaries to build an AOSP but KK version ?
I would like to build KK because I would then like to customise to my own needs without having to install a Custom ROM and for that I would like to use XPosed.
But Xposed does not seem to support LOL for now...
So a KK binary would be much appreciated... at least on my side !

Updated Pie rom for Sony Experia Z yuga

It seems I don't have a high enough post count to put this in the development area. How many do I need?

If there's any interest I'll keep the download updated with the latest security updates.
